Companies Using OpenPanel
Our October 2026 crawl finds OpenPanel on 1,133 live domains, after we took out 431 that load it for someone else, are gambling pages or only forward to one customer's site. This is the open-source product analytics tool from openpanel.dev, made by OpenPanel AB in Stockholm, not the hosting control panel that shares its name. Below is the list of companies that use OpenPanel, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Topmate, Midday, Zeeve, The Marmara hotel group and New Zealand's Ministry of Education, on its education workforce site.
Most OpenPanel sites send their data somewhere other than OpenPanel. Of the 846 domains where we could read the destination, 536 report to a self-hosted server and 310 to OpenPanel Cloud. One operator stands out: the hotel marketing service dAirect runs OpenPanel on 73 hotel sites, most of them Italian, with a separate project for each hotel on its own server. OpenPanel ranks 10th of the 16 tools we track in Product Analytics, with 0.38%.

OpenPanel Usage Statistics
This chart has a single point: 1,133 live domains in October 2026, the count after cleaning. We can't rebuild that cleaning for earlier months, so we don't chart them, and our monthly totals before October aren't a like-for-like series anyway. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widened over the same months. The injected script we removed was also recent: 85 of its 153 domains were first seen in September. Since we began tracking OpenPanel in March 2026, 431 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname, and 24 of them still load it on another.

Which Countries Use OpenPanel the Most?
Which countries use OpenPanel the most? The United States, with 123 matched companies, then Italy (66), Germany (52), the United Kingdom (34) and France (25). Italy's figure is mostly one operator: 58 of the 66 Italian companies are hotels whose OpenPanel runs on dAirect's server. Eight of the 15 countries in the chart are in Europe, and Sweden, home of OpenPanel AB, has 13. These counts cover the 565 matched companies with a known country, spread over 69 countries.
Share of the 608 OpenPanel domains we matched to a company record — 53.7% of the 1,133 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
OpenPanel Market Share Among Product Analytics
What is OpenPanel's market share? 0.38% of Product Analytics, 10th of the 16 tools we track there, on 1,133 cleaned domains in our October 2026 crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. The table is top-heavy. PostHog holds 46.98% with 139,813 domains, Amplitude 27% and Mixpanel 9.53%. Those rows are uncleaned counts, so the comparison isn't like for like. The rank is safe either way: Woopra, 9th, has 1,936 domains and Countly, 11th, has 281. Heap appears in the table twice, as Heap and as Heap Analytics.
Top Competitors by Market Share
OpenPanel Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use OpenPanel? Small ones. 65.98% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 21.2% have 11 to 50, so 87.18% have 50 staff or fewer. That's above PostHog's profile (61.99% at 1 to 10) and well above Mixpanel's (48.18%). Only 11 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff, among them New Zealand's Ministry of Education and the Mexican universities UANE and UTEG.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The biggest group was founded in the 2010s (38.66%), and the 2020s come a close second at 36.92%. That 2020s share is far above Mixpanel's profile (21.49%) and Woopra's (8.79%), a little above Amplitude's (33.82%) and below PostHog's (43.23%). Only 9 matched companies were founded before 1970.
What Industries Use OpenPanel the Most?
Software Development leads at 11.23%, then IT Services and IT Consulting at 10.14%. Hospitality is third at 8.51%, but 41 of its 47 companies are dAirect's hotels. Technology, Information and Internet (7.61%) and Advertising Services (3.8%) follow, so our enriched company data describes software makers, agencies and online services, with one hotel network on top.
Software companies using OpenPanel include Topmate, Zeeve, Clinia and Takeat, the Brazilian restaurant software maker. Universities using OpenPanel include UTC and UANE in Mexico, which report to the same server at analytics.lottus.com, plus Collège Durocher Saint-Lambert in Québec and HEC Maroc. News publishers on OpenPanel include the Croatian dailies Slobodna Dalmacija and Jutarnji list, both sending data to one server at exabyte.hr.
OpenPanel Alternatives & Competitors
OpenPanel seldom shares a site with the category leaders. 63 OpenPanel domains (5.56%) also run PostHog, 13 run Mixpanel and 8 run Amplitude. None of these pairs passes our switching tests. More than half of the domains ever seen with OpenPanel and PostHog still run both, and since March the moves are even, 21 to PostHog against 19 from it. Woopra, 9th in the table, shares no domains with OpenPanel. The analytics it does sit beside are privacy-first web counters: Plausible on 4.06% and Umami on 3.62%.
OpenPanel Customer Migration
Tech Stack of OpenPanel-Powered Websites
Across the 1,133 live OpenPanel domains, Google Tag Manager runs on 52.6% and Google Analytics on 51.02%, so on about half of these sites OpenPanel runs beside Google Analytics rather than replacing it. The sites are built in modern JavaScript. Next.js is on 36.63% and Tailwind CSS on 52.25%, with Lucide icons on 23.92% and Vercel hosting 17.83%. WordPress is on 18.98%, and 35 of the 73 dAirect hotel sites are among those. Shopify is on just 2.38% once the Sendica stores are out.

How We Counted OpenPanel Customers
A domain counts here if a page on it loads OpenPanel's tracking script from openpanel.dev or creates the window.openpanel object that OpenPanel's web SDK sets up. That catches OpenPanel Cloud users and the many self-hosters who load the script from openpanel.dev; a self-hosted script served from the site's own server counts through the object. On 15 October 2026 we opened every domain in a browser and read which OpenPanel server each one reports to.
Before computing anything, we removed 431 domains. 153 carry a script injected from designerlink.su, found on unrelated WordPress, PrestaShop and other sites, which loads campaign scripts into visitors' pages and sends every visit to one outside OpenPanel account. 104 are online stores running Sendica, a delivery and logistics platform for online shops, whose Shopify app loads OpenPanel under Sendica's own account. 44 are gambling pages our title filter missed: 31 Neonclub casino mirrors, a Slotclub mirror, six betting-affiliate portals and six casino or poker review sites. 7 are security trust centres hosted by Orbiq under its own account; we kept orbiqhq.com itself. And 123 are one customer's forwarding domains: local pharmacy domains that all redirect to location pages on serviceapotheek.nl, the site of Service Apotheek, the pharmacy chain of the Dutch cooperative Mosadex, which runs one OpenPanel account across them. We count that customer once, as serviceapotheek.nl.
Every chart and table on this page uses the remaining 1,133: 1,571 raw domains, less 7 with for-sale or gambling titles, less the 431 above. Our Product Analytics category table hasn't had this correction and lists OpenPanel at 1,513, which is why the two pages disagree; on the cleaned count it is still 10th, with 0.38%. One operator stays in: dAirect, a hotel marketing service, puts OpenPanel on 73 hotel sites and gives each hotel its own project on dAirect's server, so the projects are the hotels' but the choice of tool was dAirect's. CloseBi, a store-locator service, does the same on its clients' locator pages, such as Fiona Diamonds' store finder, each brand with its own project on CloseBi's server. We also kept 10 mirror domains of the HDrezka pirate streaming site and 3 MissAV domains. In a random sample of 100 kept homepages, 81 loaded OpenPanel when we opened them, 10 loaded without it, 5 were dead or returned a server error, 3 sat behind a bot check and 1 was an HDrezka mirror. Our monthly totals before October included the removed groups, so the usage chart starts in October 2026.
Expert Analysis: OpenPanel Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I expected OpenPanel to be a quick profile: a young open-source tool, a small count, a clean rule. A domain counts when one of its pages loads OpenPanel's tracking script from openpanel.dev or creates the window.openpanel object the web SDK sets up. The rule held. Its count didn't. When I opened every one of the 1,564 domains in a headless browser and read which OpenPanel server each page reports to, 431 of them turned out to be loading OpenPanel for someone else or forwarding to one customer's site. This page uses the 1,133 left, from our October 2026 crawl, with 608 matched to a company.
What the rule sees
OpenPanel's script carries the account in its configuration: a client ID and, for self-hosters, an API address. That makes it one of the easier tools to census. On the 1,133 kept domains we read 740 distinct client IDs across 850 domains, and 664 of those IDs sit on a single domain, so most rows are one site with one project. The API address tells you which OpenPanel a site is on. Of 846 domains where we could read it, 536 send data to a self-hosted server and 310 to OpenPanel Cloud. Self-hosters often still take the script from OpenPanel's CDN: 596 of the 861 domains where we saw the script load fetched it from openpanel.dev.
Sales signal: treat this as two lists. Cloud sites pay OpenPanel AB. Self-hosted sites pay nobody for analytics and run the servers themselves, which makes them prospects for hosting and DevOps tools more than for analytics seats.
What we removed, and why
The biggest cut was an injected script. 153 domains carry a tag from designerlink.su that, as far as we can tell, their owners never added: the same tag sits on unrelated WordPress and PrestaShop sites in many countries, loads campaign scripts into visitors' pages and sends every visit to one OpenPanel account at analytics.designerlink.su. 85 of those domains were first seen in September. Mosadex, the Dutch pharmacy cooperative behind Service Apotheek, accounts for 123 more: local pharmacy domains that all forward to location pages on serviceapotheek.nl and share one OpenPanel account. That is one customer, so it appears once. Sendica, a delivery and logistics platform for online shops, loads OpenPanel from its Shopify app under its own account, so 104 stores, 44 of them on .bg domains, were reporting to Sendica rather than to themselves. Then come 44 gambling pages our title filter missed, 31 of them Neonclub casino mirrors, and 7 security trust centres hosted by Orbiq on its own account.
"We found one OpenPanel account on 153 unrelated websites. A crawl that only matches the script would have counted every one of those sites as a customer." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: if you bought an OpenPanel list elsewhere, check it for the designerlink.su tag. Those owners probably don't know OpenPanel is on their pages, and a pitch that mentions it will confuse them.
One operator, 73 hotels
dAirect, whose service promises hotels visibility in AI assistants, puts its tag on 73 hotel sites, and the tag gives each hotel its own OpenPanel project on dAirect's server. We kept them, because each hotel has its own project, but the choice of tool was dAirect's. They explain 58 of the 66 Italian matched companies and 41 of the 47 in Hospitality, and 35 of them are WordPress sites.
Sales signal: for those 73 hotels the decision sits with dAirect, not with the hotel manager. One conversation reaches the whole group.
No growth curve yet
The usage chart shows one point, October 2026. Our monthly totals before that included the removed domains, and they aren't a same-domain series either: the set of domains we crawl turns over each month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widened over the summer. Since we began tracking OpenPanel in March 2026, 431 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname; 24 of them still load it on another. OpenPanel itself started as a side project in late 2023, so a short record is all anyone has.
Sales signal: don't sell OpenPanel's footprint as a trend yet. Re-check the clean count over the next two crawls first.
Who the customers are
65.98% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 21.2% have 11 to 50. That is closer to PostHog's shape (61.99% at 1 to 10) than to Mixpanel's (48.18%). 36.92% were founded in the 2020s, against 21.49% for Mixpanel and 8.79% for Woopra. Software Development (11.23%) and IT services (10.14%) lead the industries. The larger names run OpenPanel on one property: New Zealand's Ministry of Education on its workforce site, Top Employers Institute on its demo platform. OpenPanel's About page names Midday among its users, and Midday's site loads it from OpenPanel Cloud.
Sales signal: these are technical founders and small product teams. Lead with documentation, a self-hosting path and a price per event.
Where they are
The United States leads with 123 matched companies, followed by Italy (66, mostly dAirect's hotels), Germany (52), the United Kingdom (34) and France (25). Eight of the 15 countries in the chart are in Europe, and Sweden, where OpenPanel AB is based, has 13 matched companies, level with Australia. Some self-hosted servers are shared: one at exabyte.hr carries the Croatian dailies Slobodna Dalmacija and Jutarnji list, and one at analytics.lottus.com carries two Mexican universities.
Sales signal: look for the shared servers. One self-hosted instance holding five or ten projects is a single buyer for monitoring, hosting or a managed OpenPanel offer.
Next to PostHog
63 OpenPanel domains (5.56%) also run PostHog, 13 run Mixpanel and 8 run Amplitude. None of these is a switching corridor. More than half of the domains ever seen with OpenPanel and PostHog still run both, and since March 21 moved towards PostHog while 19 moved the other way. Woopra, 9th in the table, shares no domains with OpenPanel at all.
"PostHog's 139,813 domains are about 123 for every one of OpenPanel's 1,133, yet sites move between them in about equal numbers in both directions, 21 one way and 19 the other." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: most OpenPanel sites run it free on their own servers, so a competing pitch has to beat free self-hosting, not a cloud invoice.
The stack around it
Google Tag Manager runs on 52.6% of OpenPanel domains and Google Analytics on 51.02%, so on about half of them OpenPanel is a second tag. The builds are modern: Next.js on 36.63%, Tailwind CSS on 52.25%, Lucide on 23.92% and Vercel on 17.83%. WordPress is on 18.98%. Shopify sits at 2.38% once the Sendica stores are out, which tells you most of the Shopify footprint we first saw was Sendica's.
Sales signal: this is a Next.js and Vercel audience. Developer tools that ship as an npm package fit better here than WordPress plugins do.
What it costs
OpenPanel's pricing page (15 October 2026) sells OpenPanel Cloud by monthly events: $2.50 for 5,000, $20 for 100,000, $90 for 1 million and $900 for 50 million, with unlimited sites, users and dashboards and a 30-day trial instead of a free tier. Self-hosting is free with unlimited events, and the code is AGPL-3.0 on GitHub.
Sales signal: a move between self-hosted and cloud shows up as a new API address in the site's configuration. Watch for it.
Key takeaways
1. 1,133 live domains after removing 431, 10th of 16 in Product Analytics with 0.38%.
2. Nearly two in three readable sites send data to a self-hosted server rather than OpenPanel Cloud: 536 of 846.
3. dAirect's hotels are 73 of the 1,133, and the only operator network left in the count.
4. A small, young, technical base: 65.98% have ten or fewer staff and 36.92% were founded in the 2020s.
5. PostHog runs beside it on 5.56% of domains, with no sign of switching either way.
How to use this list
Split it by API destination first, then dedupe by account: Lardi-Trans alone has 10 country domains on one account. For the full list of 1,133 OpenPanel domains with company, size and stack data, explore TechnologyChecker.io.

This page covers the analytics tool only: sites that load its script from openpanel.dev or create its window.openpanel object.
