Companies Using Supabase
Supabase is a hosted Postgres database with authentication, storage, edge functions and realtime subscriptions wrapped around it. Teams reach for it when they want a relational database and a working API on day one without standing up a backend, which is why it turns up so often behind AI-assisted app builders, internal tools and community sites.
Our August reading puts Supabase on 19,361 domains, 0.83% of the PaaS category and #11 of the 41 ranked technologies in it. That is roughly 3.4x the 5,720 this page carried before, one of the largest corrections in this refresh, and it reflects our coverage of the signals widening rather than the platform tripling. Company records could be matched for 12,450 of those domains, and every size, industry, country and age breakdown below describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base.
The most useful thing on this page is what Supabase sits next to rather than what it replaces. 40.05% of Supabase domains are running Vercel right now, two in five, because Supabase is a data layer a site adds on top of its host. That is also why this profile publishes no switching numbers at all: of the domains that ever carried both Supabase and Vercel, 90.2% still carry both, so an apparent corridor between them would be a site dropping its database layer while staying exactly where it was hosted. The same holds against Netlify (88.2% still both) and Amazon Web Services (78.3%).
Two quirks in how we match Supabase are worth reading before you use these counts. We detect it from the supabase.AuthAdminApi and supabase.storageKey JavaScript globals, from script sources under .supabase.co, from two globals that exist only on Nuxt sites (__NUXT__.config.public.SUPABASE_URL and __NUXT__.config.public.supabase), and from a DOM clause that matches a "Made with Supabase" wordmark image linking back to supabase.com. That last clause finds an attribution badge, not a running service. And despite the Nuxt-specific globals, the framework that actually dominates this base is Next.js at 40.33%, with React Router at 25.01% and React at 11.71%.

Supabase Usage Statistics
Our current crawl window holds three monthly readings, so this is a short series rather than a long history: active domains run 10,775 on 1 June 2026, 16,596 on 1 July and 19,361 on 1 August. Read the June to July step as our coverage expanding rather than as a platform that grew by four fifths in eight weeks; the level is the useful number, not the slope. The figure to set beside the chart is the drop count: 2,977 domains dropped a detection since we began tracking in March 2026, about 15% of the current base. Supabase's clearest signals are JavaScript globals that only exist once a page has loaded and run its client bundle, which is exactly the kind of signal that comes and goes between crawls, so most of that number is detection flicker rather than teams removing a database.

Twelve of those fifteen were detected on a subdomain rather than the organisation's main site, most often a community forum or a standalone portal. That is the shape of Supabase's enterprise tail: a team shipped a project on it, rather than a company migrating to it.
Which Countries Use Supabase the Most?
The United States leads with 3,327 matched domains, which is expected. Brazil in second place with 1,138 is not: it sits ahead of the United Kingdom (871) and India (569), an unusually broad spread for a developer tool. Canada (451), France (424), Germany (387) and Australia (383) follow, then the Netherlands (304) and Spain (291), with Mexico (171), the United Arab Emirates (162), Italy (161), Switzerland (130) and Turkey (128) behind them. A backend that arrives through agencies and app builders travels differently from one that arrives through enterprise procurement, and this is what that looks like. These are counts inside the 12,450 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.
Share of the 12,450 Supabase domains we matched to a company record — 64.3% of the 19,361 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Supabase Market Share Among PaaS
Supabase ranks #11 of the 41 ranked technologies in PaaS, with 0.83% of the category on 19,361 domains in the August reading. That is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category, not a share of developers, projects or spend, so it is not comparable to figures built on other denominators. The category framing also flatters the comparison: Amazon Web Services (936,363 domains, 39.98%) and Vercel (389,653, 16.64%) are places to run an application, while Supabase is a database and auth layer that runs alongside one. Company records could be matched for 12,450 of the 19,361 domains, and every breakdown on this page describes that matched subset.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Supabase Customers by Company Size & Age
Company size skews smaller here than anywhere else in this category. Of the 11,803 domains where we could resolve an employee band, 69.4% (8,191 domains) are companies with 1-10 employees and 21.66% (2,556) are 11-50, against 55% to 64% in that first band for the other five PaaS platforms in this refresh. Everything above 200 employees adds up to 319 domains: 205 at 201-500, 56 at 501-1000, 42 at 1001-5000, 7 at 5001-10000 and 9 above that. The larger names that do appear are almost always a single subdomain rather than an estate, including f5 on community.f5.com, Deriv on blog.deriv.com and Varsity Tutors on ai.varsitytutors.com.

What Industries Use Supabase the Most?
Among domains matched to a company with a resolved industry, Technology, Information and Internet leads with 547 domains (4.79%), followed by Software Development (498, 4.36%) and Retail (494, 4.33%). IT Services and IT Consulting (472, 4.14%), Real Estate (427, 3.74%) and Advertising Services (410, 3.59%) come next, with Business Consulting and Services (380), Construction (319), Marketing Services (280) and Financial Services (251) behind them. Percentages are shares of all industry-resolved domains, not of these ten. The striking thing is how flat that distribution is: no vertical clears 5%, and Retail sitting level with Software Development is the tell that a large part of this base is not developer tooling at all.
Two of the top ten verticals do not belong to a developer tool at all. Retail (494 domains, 4.33%) and Construction (319, 2.8%) together outweigh Software Development, and Real Estate (427, 3.74%) and Advertising Services (410, 3.59%) sit alongside them. That mix is what you would expect from a backend chosen on a client's behalf by an agency or generated by an app builder rather than selected by the site owner. It is the same reason the Brazilian cluster in our matched set spans retail, facilities, pharmaceuticals and outsourcing rather than software: Le Biscuit, Parkindigo, Geolab and Vedraga are ordinary businesses running Supabase behind a public site.
Supabase Alternatives & Competitors
Treat this list as a map of the category rather than a shortlist to choose between. Amazon Web Services (936,363 domains, 39.98%), Vercel (389,653, 16.64%), WordPress.com (193,092, 8.24%) and Azure (175,651, 7.5%) are all places to run an application; Supabase is the data layer you put on top of one, and 40.05% of Supabase domains are running Vercel right now. The one genuine substitute in the group is Firebase (160,932 domains, 6.87%), which answers the same question with a document database instead of Postgres. Because the rest are complements, this profile publishes no switching numbers: of the domains that ever carried both Supabase and Vercel, 90.2% still carry both, and the figures against Netlify (88.2%) and Amazon Web Services (78.3%) say the same thing.

Tech Stack of Supabase-Powered Websites
Percentages are shares of Supabase's sampled active domains. Cloudflare fronts 54.04% of them and Google Analytics runs on 45.08%, both unremarkable. The framework column is the one to read: Next.js at 40.33%, React Router at 25.01% and React at 11.71%, with Vue.js (5.3%), Svelte (1.24%) and Astro (1.1%) barely registering. Two of the four JavaScript globals we match Supabase on exist only on Nuxt sites, yet Vue.js, the family Nuxt belongs to, is the smallest framework row here: those clauses add a slice of this base, they do not define it. jsDelivr on 18.42% and Vercel Analytics on 9.91% round out a stack that is deployed rather than hosted, and the Vercel Analytics row confirms the Vercel overlap from a second direction.

Supabase Customer Reviews with Pros and Cons
G2 reviewers cluster on the same two strengths: ease of use (9 mentions) and documentation (7), followed by easy integrations, quick setup and the interface at 5 mentions each. The criticism runs the other way and is oddly consistent: beginner unfriendly, high complexity, insufficient guidance and learning difficulty all draw 2 mentions apiece, and all four describe the same reviewer, someone who arrived without SQL. Premium pricing draws the other 2. Read together, that is a product experienced developers find obvious and newcomers find steep, which matters more than usual for a base where 69.4% of matched companies have 1-10 employees.

Expert Analysis: Supabase Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Supabase is a data layer, not a place to run an application, and almost every confusing thing about its numbers follows from that one fact. It ships a hosted Postgres database with authentication, storage, edge functions and realtime subscriptions in front of it, and a site bolts it on to whatever host it already has. Our August reading puts it on 19,361 domains, 0.83% of the PaaS category and #11 of the 41 ranked technologies in it.
The count moved a long way
This profile previously carried 5,720 domains. It now carries 19,361, roughly 3.4x, the second largest proportional correction in this refresh. Nothing about Supabase changed to produce that; our coverage of the signals that identify it widened. The same effect is visible inside the chart: active domains run 10,775 on 1 June 2026, 16,596 on 1 July and 19,361 on 1 August, and the June to July step is coverage rather than growth. Three monthly readings is a short series, so treat the level as the useful number and the slope with care.
The drop count needs the same care. 2,977 domains dropped a detection since we began tracking in March 2026, about 15% of the current base. Supabase's clearest signal is a JavaScript global that exists only once a page has loaded and executed its client bundle, which is exactly the kind of signal that comes and goes between crawls. Most of that figure is intermittency, not removal.
Why this page publishes no switching data
This is the most useful thing on the page, so it gets stated plainly. 40.05% of Supabase domains are running Vercel right now. Two in five. Of the domains that ever carried both, 90.2% still carry both. Against Netlify the figure is 88.2%, and against Amazon Web Services 78.3%.
Those are the co-occurrence numbers of complements, not of substitutes. A migration corridor computed between Supabase and Vercel would mostly describe sites that dropped a database layer while staying exactly where they were hosted, or a crawl that missed one of the two signals on one pass. A number like that reads as a market moving when nothing moved, so we publish none of it. Firebase is the one product in the category's top five that genuinely competes for the same slot, and even there a site can carry both while it moves.
Sales Signal: a Supabase detection tells you what a domain's data layer is, not who its host is. If you sell hosting, Supabase is not your competitor on that domain; if you sell databases, the host on the same domain is not your competitor either. Qualify on the pair, not on either half.
What a detection here does and does not prove
We match Supabase on four JavaScript globals (supabase.AuthAdminApi, supabase.storageKey, __NUXT__.config.public.SUPABASE_URL and __NUXT__.config.public.supabase), on script sources under .supabase.co, and on a DOM clause that matches a "Made with Supabase" wordmark image linking back to supabase.com. Two of those deserve saying out loud.
The DOM clause finds an attribution badge. A site displaying the wordmark was very likely built on Supabase, but the clause is matching a picture and a link rather than a running service, and a template carries that badge whether or not the project behind it is still live. Confirm a single domain in a browser before you tell anyone they are actively running Supabase.
The two __NUXT__ globals exist only on Nuxt sites, which means half our JavaScript clauses are framework specific. That does not skew the base the way you would expect: the framework that dominates here is Next.js at 40.33%, with React Router at 25.01% and React at 11.71%, while Vue.js, the family Nuxt belongs to, sits at 5.3%. The Nuxt clauses add a slice of this base; they do not define it.
The youngest and smallest customer base in the category
Of the 11,803 matched domains with a resolved employee band, 69.4% (8,191) belong to companies with 1-10 employees. The other five PaaS platforms in this refresh sit between 55% and 64% in that band. Of the 7,250 with a known founding decade, 39.9% (2,893) were founded in the 2020s, ahead of the 2010s at 38.5%. For contrast, Cloudways shows 16.85% in the 2020s and Heroku 10.47%.
That is a genuinely different population, and it is consistent with a product whose free tier is enough to run something real. The large organisations that do appear are almost always present on a single subdomain: f5 on community.f5.com, Vanta on community.vanta.com, Mixpanel on community.mixpanel.com, Clay on community.clay.com, SnapLogic on community.snaplogic.com, Sigma Computing on public.sigmacomputing.com, the Rockefeller Foundation on impactreport.rockefellerfoundation.org. Community forums, portals and one-off microsites. A team shipped a project on it; the company did not migrate to it.
Sales Signal: every employee band above 200 holds 319 matched domains in total. If you are selling into that tail, target the project rather than the company, and expect the buyer to be a team lead rather than procurement.
Geography is broader than a developer tool usually is
The United States leads with 3,327 matched domains. Brazil is second with 1,138, ahead of the United Kingdom (871) and India (569), then Canada (451), France (424), Germany (387) and Australia (383). A backend that spreads through agency work and app builders travels differently from one that spreads through enterprise procurement, and the Brazilian cluster in our matched set is ordinary business rather than software: Le Biscuit in retail, Parkindigo in facilities services, Geolab in pharmaceutical manufacturing, Vedraga in outsourcing.
The stack around it
Cloudflare fronts 54.04% of sampled Supabase domains and Google Analytics runs on 45.08%. jsDelivr appears on 18.42% and Vercel Analytics on 9.91%, which confirms the Vercel overlap from a second direction. The industry distribution is unusually flat: Technology, Information and Internet leads on only 4.79% of industry-resolved domains, with Software Development at 4.36% and Retail at 4.33%. No vertical clears 5%. Retail sitting level with Software Development is the clearest sign that a large part of this base did not choose a backend at all; something chose one for them.
Sales Signal: the flatness is the opportunity. A base spread across retail, real estate, construction and advertising at three to four points each is not a developer-tools audience, and it is not being sold to as one.
How to read the numbers on this page
1. The level is solid, the slope is not. 19,361 domains in August is a real reading; the June to July jump is coverage.
2. Breakdowns describe a subset. Company records matched for 12,450 of the 19,361 domains, and every size, industry, country and age chart describes those 12,450.
3. Co-occurrence, not competition. 40.05% of these domains run Vercel, and there is no switching story to tell against a host.
4. One clause matches a badge. Verify in a browser before acting on a single detection.
5. The base is small and young. 69.4% at 1-10 employees, 39.9% founded in the 2020s, and 319 domains in total above 200 employees.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Supabase?
We detect Supabase on 19,361 domains, including Varsity Tutors LLC, f5, RevGenius Inc.. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Technology, Information and Internet (4.79%).
How many customers does Supabase have?
We detect 19,361 domains running Supabase across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 12,450 of them (64.3%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 2,977 domains carried a Supabase detection previously and no longer do.
What is Supabase's market share?
Supabase holds 0.83% of the PaaS category, ranking #11. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.
What are the best alternatives to Supabase?
The top alternatives to Supabase include Amazon Web Services (39.98% market share), Vercel (16.64% market share), WordPress.com (8.24% market share), Azure (7.5% market share) — measured as a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category.
Which countries use Supabase the most?
United States leads with 3,327 matched Supabase domains, followed by Brazil (1,138), United Kingdom (871), India (569), Canada (451). These are counts within the 12,450 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.
What size companies use Supabase?
The most common company size is 1-10 employees, representing 69.4% of the Supabase domains we could match to a company record and size — a subset of 12,450 matched companies, not of all 19,361 detected domains. This is followed by 11-50 employees (21.66%) and 51-200 employees (6.24%).
How old are companies that use Supabase?
Among the Supabase domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2020s (39.9%), followed by the 2010s (38.5%). That matched subset is drawn from 12,450 companies and is not representative of all 19,361 detected domains. This suggests Supabase is most popular among relatively young companies.
What is the ideal customer profile for Supabase?
The ideal Supabase customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees (69.4%), then 11-50 (21.66%), Company Age: Founded in the 2020s (39.9%) or the 2010s (38.5%), Geography: United States (3,327 matched domains), Brazil (1,138), United Kingdom (871), India (569), Industry: Technology and Internet, Software Development, Retail, IT Services and IT Consulting, Tech Stack: Next.js (40.33%), Vercel (40.05%), Cloudflare (54.04%), React Router (25.01%), Use Case: Postgres database, auth and storage behind a JavaScript front end — based on our analysis of 12,450 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.
What is Supabase?
Supabase is an open-source backend platform built on PostgreSQL. A project gives you a Postgres database, an auto-generated API over it, authentication, file storage, edge functions and vector search, all reachable from a client library. It is a data layer rather than a host: you add it to a site that is already deployed somewhere, which is why 40.05% of the domains we detect running Supabase are also running Vercel.
Is Supabase a hosting platform?
No, and this is the most common misreading of the numbers on this page. Supabase hosts your database and its API; your application still runs somewhere else. That is why it sits in the PaaS category next to Amazon Web Services, Vercel and Azure while co-occurring with them rather than displacing them. Two in five Supabase domains run Vercel at the same time.
Why does this page publish no switching or migration data for Supabase?
Because the products a corridor would be computed against are complements. Of the domains that ever carried both Supabase and Vercel, 90.2% still carry both; against Netlify it is 88.2% and against Amazon Web Services 78.3%. A switching figure built on numbers like those would mostly describe a site dropping its database layer while staying exactly where it was hosted, or a crawl that missed one of the two signals on one pass. It would read as a market moving when nothing moved, so we publish none.
Does a "Made with Supabase" badge count as a Supabase detection?
Yes, and you should know that before you act on a single detection. One of our clauses matches a wordmark image linking back to supabase.com, the attribution badge that sites and templates display. It is strong evidence the site was built on Supabase, but it matches a picture and a link rather than a running service, and a template keeps the badge whether or not the project behind it is still live. The other clauses, the JavaScript globals and the .supabase.co script sources, do indicate a live client. Confirm in a browser before telling anyone they are actively running Supabase.
How does TechnologyChecker detect Supabase?
Six clauses, matched independently, any one of which counts a domain. Four JavaScript globals: supabase.AuthAdminApi, supabase.storageKey, __NUXT__.config.public.SUPABASE_URL and __NUXT__.config.public.supabase. One script clause matching sources under .supabase.co. One DOM clause matching a "Made with Supabase" wordmark image that links to supabase.com.
Why did the number of Supabase domains on this page change so much?
This profile previously showed 5,720 domains and now shows 19,361, about 3.4x. Supabase did not triple in a month. Our coverage of the signals that identify it widened, and the same widening is visible inside the chart: 10,775 active domains on 1 June 2026, 16,596 on 1 July and 19,361 on 1 August. Read the level as current and the June to July step as coverage rather than growth.
Why do two of the Supabase detection clauses only match Nuxt sites?
Two of the four JavaScript globals we match, __NUXT__.config.public.SUPABASE_URL and __NUXT__.config.public.supabase, exist only on Nuxt sites, where the Supabase URL is exposed through the framework's public runtime config. It is a reliable signal where it applies but it is framework specific, so it adds Nuxt sites to the base without describing it. The stack data confirms as much: Next.js is on 40.33% of sampled Supabase domains while Vue.js, the family Nuxt belongs to, is on 5.3%.
Have companies been removing Supabase?
2,977 domains dropped a detection since we began tracking in March 2026, roughly 15% of the current base, and most of that is intermittency rather than removal. The clearest Supabase signals are JavaScript globals that exist only once a page has loaded and run its client bundle, so a route that never touches the database, or a page that renders differently between crawls, produces a miss. Treat the drop count as detection flicker unless you can confirm a specific domain in a browser.
Why is Supabase classified under PaaS?
Because a managed backend that you provision, scale and pay for per project belongs there, alongside Amazon Web Services, Vercel, Azure and Firebase. The category is broader than the competitive set, though. Only Firebase in the category's top five answers the same question Supabase answers; the rest are places to run an application, and Supabase runs alongside them rather than instead of them.
Does a Supabase detection mean the whole company runs Supabase?
No. A detection means Supabase is present on that domain. For larger organisations that is usually one subdomain: f5 on community.f5.com, Vanta on community.vanta.com, Mixpanel on community.mixpanel.com, Deriv on blog.deriv.com, the Rockefeller Foundation on impactreport.rockefellerfoundation.org. Twelve of the fifteen recognisable names highlighted on this page were detected on a subdomain rather than a main site, most often a community forum or a standalone portal.
Can Supabase replace Firebase?
For many teams, yes; the two answer the same question with different databases. Supabase is Postgres, so you get SQL, joins, constraints, extensions and the option of taking your data anywhere Postgres runs. Firebase is a document store with deeper mobile SDKs and tighter Google Cloud integration. Choose on the data model rather than on a feature checklist. We publish no switching count between the two, for the reason given in the question about migration data on this page.
What are the disadvantages of Supabase?
The G2 criticism on this page is unusually consistent: beginner unfriendly, high complexity, insufficient guidance and learning difficulty, all describing the same reviewer, someone who arrived without SQL. Postgres is the product's greatest strength and its steepest requirement. Premium pricing draws the other repeated complaint, and self-hosting the open-source stack is real operational work rather than a checkbox.
Is Supabase free?
There is a free tier with caps on database size, storage, bandwidth and monthly active users, and projects that sit idle can be paused. Paid plans lift those caps per project. The free tier is generous enough to run something real, which is part of why this base skews so hard to the smallest companies: 69.4% of matched Supabase domains belong to companies with 1-10 employees.
Is Supabase good for production apps?
The database underneath is Postgres, which is production software with decades behind it, and the paid tiers add backups, point-in-time recovery and read replicas. The caveats are operational rather than technical: Row Level Security has to be configured deliberately, and a project that grew out of a prototype often has not been. Our data shows the shape of that risk, with 69.4% of matched companies at 1-10 employees and 39.9% founded in the 2020s.
How do I keep a Supabase project secure?
Row Level Security is the whole game. The anon key is designed to be public and is only safe in client code if every table it can reach has policies on it; the service_role key bypasses those policies and must never ship to a browser. Turn RLS on for every table, write the policies before you expose an endpoint, and check what an unauthenticated request can actually read. Generated code deserves particular scrutiny here, because it will happily return working queries against an unprotected table.
Why do AI app builders default to Supabase?
Because it collapses the backend into one provisioning step. A tool generating a full-stack application needs a database, authentication and file storage to exist within seconds and be reachable from generated client code, and Supabase provides all three behind one project URL and one key. The result shows up in our stack data as a very JavaScript-heavy base: Next.js on 40.33% of sampled domains, React Router on 25.01%, React on 11.71%.
What frontend frameworks do Supabase sites use?
Next.js leads on 40.33% of sampled Supabase domains, followed by React Router (25.01%) and React (11.71%). Vue.js sits at 5.3%, Svelte at 1.24% and Astro at 1.1%. These are shares of the sampled active domains, and a domain can appear in more than one row.
Why is Brazil so high in the Supabase country data?
Brazil is second with 1,138 matched domains, behind the United States on 3,327 and ahead of the United Kingdom (871) and India (569). The Brazilian names in our matched set are ordinary businesses rather than software companies: Le Biscuit in retail, Parkindigo in facilities services, Geolab in pharmaceutical manufacturing, Vedraga in outsourcing. That is the signature of a backend arriving through agencies and app builders rather than through enterprise procurement. These are counts inside the 12,450 domains matched to a company record.
Is Supabase only used by small companies?
Mostly. 69.4% of the 11,803 matched domains with a resolved employee band belong to companies with 1-10 employees, against 55% to 64% for the other five PaaS platforms in this refresh. Every band above 200 employees adds up to 319 domains. The large names that do appear are real but narrow: f5, Deriv, Varsity Tutors, Alpine Formula 1 and Haas F1 Team were each detected on a single subdomain.
Why is Supabase's customer base younger than other PaaS platforms?
Of the 7,250 matched domains with a known founding decade, 39.9% were founded in the 2020s, ahead of the 2010s at 38.5%. In the same category Cloudways shows 16.85% in the 2020s and Heroku 10.47%. A platform that companies adopt at founding builds a base shaped like the founding cohort; a platform that companies migrate to inherits whatever cohort was already there.
What industries use Supabase the most?
The distribution is unusually flat. Technology, Information and Internet leads on 547 domains (4.79% of industry-resolved domains), then Software Development (498, 4.36%), Retail (494, 4.33%), IT Services and IT Consulting (472, 4.14%), Real Estate (427, 3.74%) and Advertising Services (410, 3.59%). No vertical clears 5%, and Retail sitting level with Software Development is the tell that a large share of this base did not pick a backend deliberately.
