Companies Using Cloudflare

Our database detects Cloudflare on 9,236,181 domains, making it the most widely deployed technology we track. The list runs from one-person sites to Accenture, IBM, JPMorgan Chase, DHL, Starbucks and Allianz.

Cloudflare has been selling this since 2009 and now runs the network in 348 cities across more than 100 countries, close enough to most of the population that it claims 95% of internet users sit within 50 milliseconds of one of its data centres. It reported $696.1 million of revenue in the quarter to June 2026, up 36% year over year, and was still loss-making on a GAAP basis that quarter at $205.7 million of operating loss.

Read that number as "domains served through Cloudflare", not as a customer list. Cloudflare is free at the entry tier, and a large share of these domains are behind Cloudflare because somebody else put them there: 2,274,911 of them are Shopify stores, which is 99.33% of every Shopify store we detect. Below you will find the full list of companies using Cloudflare with market share, industry and geographic breakdowns.

How Many Websites Use Cloudflare?

9,236,181 live websites use Cloudflare as of August 2026, counted across the 29.9 million live business domains TechnologyChecker.io crawls. That is 47.33% of the CDN category — more domains than every other CDN we track there put together.

  • Rank: #1 of the 59 technologies we track in the CDN category, and the only one above 3% share.
  • Read the category carefully: four of the five next-largest members are public library CDNs — cdnjs (2,169,707 domains), jsDelivr (2,155,845) and Google Hosted Libraries (1,590,708) are script hosts a site pulls a file from, not a CDN it sits behind.
  • Geographic spread: the United States accounts for 1,512,583 of the 4,008,345 Cloudflare domains we matched to a company record (37.7%).
  • No industry concentration: the largest single industry in the matched base is Retail at 4.99% — the flattest distribution of any technology we profile, which is what infrastructure adoption looks like.
  • Why the history has a seam: our long-run series and the current crawl are different measurement systems with a step of about 1.3× across the join, so levels either side are not comparable. The June 2026 point sits in the current crawl's first month while coverage was still expanding, making it a floor rather than a reading.

Cloudflare Usage Statistics

9,236,181 live websites use Cloudflare as of August 2026, counted across the 29.9 million live business domains TechnologyChecker.io crawls — 47.33% of the CDN category and more domains than every other CDN we track there combined. Our long-run detection history first records Cloudflare in December 2010 and follows it to a peak of 5,056,020 active domains in April 2025; the current crawl began at 6,647,899 in June 2026.

The two segments come from different measurement systems, with a step of about 1.3x across the join, so the level is not directly comparable either side of it. The June 2026 point also sits in the first month of the current crawl, while coverage was still expanding, so treat it as a floor rather than a reading.

List of Companies Using Cloudflare

Our verified list of companies using Cloudflare is drawn from the 4,008,345 domains we can match to a company record, a 41.4% match rate and the largest enriched sample on the site. It is ranked by organisation prominence, which is why the visible head is enterprise while the distribution is not.

Large organisations we currently detect serving a domain through Cloudflare:

Accenture - accenture.com
IBM - ibm.com
JPMorgan Chase - jpmorganchase.com
DHL Express - dhl.com
Starbucks - starbucks.com
Allianz - allianz.com
Wells Fargo - wellsfargo.com
Abbott - abbott.com

Detection here is a response header or a nameserver record, so each of these is checkable in one request. It says the named domain is served through Cloudflare; it does not say how much of the organisation's estate is, or which plan it sits on.

Which Countries Use Cloudflare the Most?

Which countries use Cloudflare the most? The United States accounts for 1,512,583 of the enriched companies we can place (40.42%), followed by the United Kingdom (349,414), Canada (171,566), Australia (162,890), Brazil (159,271) and India (156,468).

The US share is lower here than on almost any other technology we track, and that is the point: a free tier with no sales motion spreads further from its home market than a product with a sales team does. Brazil and India both outrank Germany.

Cloudflare Market Share Among CDN

Cloudflare holds a 47.33% share of the CDN category and ranks #1 of the 59 technologies we track there, with more domains than every other member combined.

The category is mechanically mixed and the share should be read with that in mind. Four of the five next-largest members are public library CDNs - cdnjs (2,169,707), jsDelivr (2,155,845), Google Hosted Libraries (1,590,708) and jQuery CDN (819,354). A site loads a script from those as well as running Cloudflare; they are not alternatives to it. Cloudflare's actual commercial peers sit further down: Amazon CloudFront (397,677), Bunny (144,294), Fastly (94,725) and Akamai (48,553).

Cloudflare Customers by Company Size & Age

Is Cloudflare only for small sites? By count, overwhelmingly. 65.32% of the 4,008,345 enriched companies employ 10 people or fewer and another 22.85% employ 11-50. Companies of 1,000 or more account for about 1%.

That distribution is what a free tier looks like at scale, and it coexists with a genuine enterprise base: the largest organisations on the list include Accenture, IBM, JPMorgan Chase and Allianz. Both facts are true because the same product is given away and sold.

Company Age (Founded Decade)

What Industries Use Cloudflare the Most?

Retail leads at 4.99% of enriched companies, followed by IT Services and IT Consulting (3.9%), Software Development (3.38%) and Construction (3.29%).

This is the flattest industry table on the site, and the flatness is the finding. Nothing clears 5%. Cloudflare has no vertical because it has no vertical: it is infrastructure that every kind of business puts in front of its website.

Retail170,877 (4.99%)
IT Services and IT Consulting133,458 (3.9%)
Software Development115,639 (3.38%)
Construction112,493 (3.29%)
Advertising Services101,628 (2.97%)
Technology, Information and Internet97,286 (2.84%)

Retail is Cloudflare's largest single vertical at 4.99% (170,877 companies), which is partly a restatement of the Shopify finding above rather than an independent fact - a quarter of all Cloudflare domains are Shopify storefronts.

Below it the table is almost uniform: IT Services 3.9%, Software Development 3.38%, Construction 3.29%, Advertising Services 2.97%, Real Estate 2.82%. Compare a vertical product such as a popup builder, where the leading industry routinely takes 12-16%.

Cloudflare Alternatives & Competitors

Cloudflare is larger than the rest of its category combined, so the useful comparison is not the ranking but the mechanism. Against the whole-site proxies it genuinely competes with - Amazon CloudFront, Fastly, Akamai and Bunny - it is one to two orders of magnitude larger by domain count.

The library CDNs above them in the table (cdnjs, jsDelivr, Unpkg, jQuery CDN) are a different kind of thing entirely: a script tag pointing at a shared public host, with no account and no relationship. They are counted in the same category, so we keep them in the ranking for consistency with the category page, but they are not alternatives to Cloudflare and no site chooses between them.

Tech Stack of Cloudflare-Powered Websites

What runs behind Cloudflare? On a 300,000-domain sample, Shopify at 23.54% is level with WordPress at 23.89% - the clearest single statement of what this population is. Google Analytics appears on 43.16%.

Cloudflare Browser Insights, Cloudflare's own analytics, runs on 20.76% of the sample, so about a fifth of these domains have turned on a second Cloudflare product. On the server side LiteSpeed (5.76%) outranks Nginx (3.65%), which is a shared-hosting signature rather than an engineering choice.

Expert Analysis: Cloudflare Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

David Thomson
David ThomsonCTO, TechnologyChecker

I have spent over a decade building web crawlers, and Cloudflare is the hardest page on this site to write honestly, because the number is enormous and it does not mean what a reader will assume. This covers 9,236,181 active domains and 4,008,345 enriched company profiles from our August 2026 crawl.

What the detection actually proves

Cloudflare is identified by response headers (cf-ray, server: cloudflare) and by nameserver delegation. That makes it the most reproducible detection we run: on active domains our detection-to-scan ratio is 1.000, meaning Cloudflare is found on every single scan where it is present. No JavaScript has to execute and no consent banner can suppress it.

What it does not prove

We hand-classified 155 random Cloudflare domains with dig and a live request. 51.6% had Cloudflare nameservers - the domain owner made the choice. 65.2% returned Cloudflare headers. But 27.1% were proxied through Cloudflare while their nameservers pointed somewhere else entirely, which means a platform or host put Cloudflare in front of them. For those domains the Cloudflare account, and the invoice, belongs to someone else.

The largest single block of that is measurable, and it is Shopify. 2,274,911 Cloudflare domains are Shopify stores - 99.33% of every Shopify store we detect, and 23.5% of Cloudflare's entire footprint. Not one of those merchants signed up for Cloudflare. Shopify did, once, for all of them. Any "companies using Cloudflare" list that does not account for this is a quarter fiction.

Nine million domains against the company's own accounts

Cloudflare reported $696.1 million of revenue for the quarter ending June 2026, up 36% year over year, and still ran a $205.7 million GAAP operating loss. Set that against 9,236,181 detected domains and the arithmetic is wrong in a way worth following: nine million paying accounts at that revenue would be a couple of dollars each per year.

They are not paying accounts. The free tier produced most of this number, and Cloudflare has been open for years that it treats free as the acquisition channel for the enterprise business. Our size distribution is what that strategy looks like from the outside, measured rather than claimed: 65.32% of enriched companies at ten staff or fewer and roughly 1% above a thousand, with the same network in front of Accenture and a one-person bakery.

The network is the part neither of us has to estimate. Cloudflare runs it in 348 cities across more than 100 countries. That reach is exactly why a hosting provider can put its whole customer base behind Cloudflare without asking anyone, which is the mechanism behind the Shopify block above and behind the Hostinger corridor in the migration table.

What is left is still the largest real install base on the web

Its shape is a free tier: 65.32% of enriched companies employ ten people or fewer, the industry table has nothing above 5%, and the United States accounts for only 40.42% of placeable companies, with Brazil and India both ahead of Germany. Products with sales teams do not look like that.

Churn, and why we say very little about it

128,948 domains have dropped Cloudflare since March 2026, but 65.5% of those were seen only once, the highest single-sighting rate I have looked at, so the figure is directional at best. The migration table needed a bigger correction: the largest apparent inflow, 82,023 domains from Google Cloud CDN, is Google Cloud CDN losing 221,712 detections in a month, not sites moving. It is excluded.

  • AI adoption trends

Cloudflare Radar, Q3 2026: search crawling doubled to 8.3% of AI-bot requests, training eased to 47.6% and Anthropic held #3. September is provisional.

  • HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 adoption

HTTP/3 carried 20.2% of web requests in Q3 2026, down 2.8 points in a year, while HTTP/1.x rose to 27.4%. Cloudflare Radar data through September.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses Cloudflare?

We detect Cloudflare on 9,236,181 domains, including Amazon Literary Partnership, Accenture PLC, Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Retail (4.99%).

How many customers does Cloudflare have?

We detect 9,236,181 domains running Cloudflare across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 4,008,345 of them (43.4%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 128,948 domains carried a Cloudflare detection previously and no longer do.

What is Cloudflare's market share?

Cloudflare holds 47.33% of the CDN category, ranking #1. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.

What are the best alternatives to Cloudflare?

The top alternatives to Cloudflare include cdnjs (11.12% market share), jsDelivr (11.05% market share), Google Hosted Libraries (8.15% market share), Google Cloud CDN (6.68% market share) — measured as a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category.

Which countries use Cloudflare the most?

United States leads with 1,512,583 matched Cloudflare domains, followed by United Kingdom (349,414), Canada (171,566), Australia (162,890), Brazil (159,271). These are counts within the 4,008,345 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.

What size companies use Cloudflare?

The most common company size is 1-10 employees, representing 65.32% of the Cloudflare domains we could match to a company record and size — a subset of 4,008,345 matched companies, not of all 9,236,181 detected domains. This is followed by 11-50 employees (22.85%) and 51-200 employees (7.48%).

How old are companies that use Cloudflare?

Among the Cloudflare domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (40.54%), followed by the 2020s (23.22%). That matched subset is drawn from 4,008,345 companies and is not representative of all 9,236,181 detected domains. This suggests Cloudflare is most popular among relatively young companies.

What is the ideal customer profile for Cloudflare?

The ideal Cloudflare customer is: Company Size: Any - 65% under 10 employees, Location: Global; US is only 40% of placeable companies, Industry: No vertical skew - nothing above 5%, Platform: Often arrives with Shopify or a host, not by choice, Buying Trigger: Free tier; DNS move or a host's default — based on our analysis of 4,008,345 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.

What is Cloudflare?

Cloudflare is a network that sits between visitors and a website's origin server. Traffic resolves to Cloudflare first, which serves cached content, filters attacks and bots, terminates TLS, and forwards what is left to the origin. Founded in 2009, it now runs in 348 cities across more than 100 countries. The entry tier is free, which is the single most important fact for reading any number on this page.

How big is Cloudflare as a company?

Cloudflare reported $696.1 million of revenue for the quarter ending June 2026, up 36% year over year, alongside a $205.7 million GAAP operating loss. Those are company figures, not ours. Set against the 9,236,181 domains we detect, they are a reminder that domain count and customer count are different measurements: most of the domains here are on the free tier and pay nothing.

How many websites use Cloudflare?

We detect Cloudflare on 9,236,181 domains in our August 2026 crawl, more than any other technology we track. It holds 47.33% of the CDN category, more than every other member of that category combined.

What does it mean when a site 'uses Cloudflare'?

It means the domain is served through Cloudflare's network rather than straight from its origin server. We detect that from response headers (cf-ray, server: cloudflare) or from nameservers delegated to Cloudflare. It does not tell you which plan the site is on, and Cloudflare's entry tier is free.

Are all these companies Cloudflare customers?

No, and this is the most important caveat on the page. In a hand-classified sample of 155 domains, 51.6% had Cloudflare nameservers (the owner chose it) but 27.1% were proxied through Cloudflare with their nameservers elsewhere, meaning a platform or host put Cloudflare in front of them. The clearest case is Shopify: 2,274,911 Cloudflare domains are Shopify stores, 99.33% of all the Shopify stores we detect, and the Cloudflare relationship there belongs to Shopify.

What percentage of websites use Cloudflare?

Cloudflare appears on 9,236,181 of the domains in our index. Within the CDN category it holds 47.33%. We would not extrapolate that to "percentage of the whole web" from our corpus, because which domains get crawled changes month to month.

Which large companies use Cloudflare?

Organisations we currently detect include Accenture, IBM, JPMorgan Chase, DHL Express, Starbucks, Allianz, Wells Fargo and Abbott. Each is verifiable in a single request, because the detection is a response header.

What are the main alternatives to Cloudflare?

Among whole-site proxies and CDNs the alternatives are Amazon CloudFront (397,677 domains), Bunny (144,294), Fastly (94,725) and Akamai (48,553). Note that cdnjs, jsDelivr and jQuery CDN rank above those in the same category but are public library hosts, used alongside Cloudflare rather than instead of it.

Is Cloudflare gaining or losing ground?

Gaining, against every commercial peer we measured. Since March 2026 we recorded 19,713 domains arriving from Bunny against 673 leaving, 13,376 from Imgix against 126, and 4,493 from Amazon CloudFront against 2,605. The one corridor running the other way is Hostinger CDN (16,737 out, 5,448 in), which is a hosting provider moving its own customers onto its own CDN.

How reliable is Cloudflare detection?

It is the most reliable we run. Because it reads HTTP response headers and DNS records, no JavaScript needs to execute: on active domains our detection-to-scan ratio is 1.000, so Cloudflare is found on every scan where it is present. Churn is the weak side - 128,948 domains have dropped it since March 2026, but 65.5% of those were seen only once, so that number is directional.

Why do so many small companies use Cloudflare?

Because the entry tier is free. 65.32% of the 4,008,345 enriched companies we match employ ten people or fewer, and another 22.85% employ 11-50. The same product also serves Accenture and JPMorgan Chase, which is why the size table and the notable-companies list look like they describe two different products.
