Companies Using jQuery CDN

Our October 2026 crawl finds 863,027 websites loading at least one file from code.jquery.com, the free CDN the jQuery project runs for its own releases. It's free and has no accounts, so this page counts sites rather than customers. Below is the list of companies that use jQuery CDN on at least one of their sites, with size, country, industry and stack. General Motors, Lockheed Martin and T-Mobile load it on their investor-relations sites; BT and the United Nations on their main sites.

It ranks 6th of the 60 services we track in CDN, with 4.12%. Its file names also carry the jQuery version. In a sample of 4,044 sites loading a versioned jQuery core file from it, 1,986 (49.11%) pin a build older than 3.5.0, the 2020 release that fixed two cross-site scripting advisories. Only 15 had moved to jQuery 4.0.

jQuery CDN Usage Statistics

We count 863,027 jQuery CDN domains in October 2026, up from 670,984 in June. Most of the rise came in one step: July's count was 796,698, 125,714 more than June's, and the three months since added 66,329 between them. That step reflects changes on our side rather than a jQuery revival: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. Since we began tracking it in March 2026, 123,477 domains have dropped the jQuery CDN, and in a recount about one in eight of those still load it on another hostname.

List of Companies Using jQuery CDN

This list of companies using jQuery CDN names 50 of the 460,026 matched companies, ranked by LinkedIn following. When we opened them on 12 October 2026, 46 of the 50 pages loaded a file from code.jquery.com; the other four blocked automated visits or redirected by location. Among these brands that use jQuery CDN, 12 were detected on an investor-relations site, including General Motors, United Airlines and TJX. We replaced four companies whose pages no longer used it: Dell's and Nike's investor sites now serve their own copy of jQuery 3.5.1. On websites using jQuery CDN, check the hostname before you assume the main web team chose it.

jQuery CDN Market Share Among CDN

What is jQuery CDN's market share? 4.12% of the CDN category, 6th of the 60 we track, based on our live crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. Cloudflare leads with 10,497,906 domains, but sites sit behind Cloudflare rather than fetch a library from it, and Google Cloud CDN (1,080,581) is also a site CDN. Among library CDNs the jQuery CDN is 4th, behind cdnjs (2,276,149 domains), jsDelivr (2,012,188) and Google Hosted Libraries (1,656,543). Unpkg, at 710,077, is 152,950 domains behind it. jsDelivr's figure comes after its own page removed for-sale and gambling pages; on the jQuery CDN those pages were 4.0% of the raw count, too few to re-base.

jQuery CDN Customers by Company Size & Age

What size companies use jQuery CDN? Mostly very small ones. 58.04% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.36% have 11 to 50, so 82.40% have 50 staff or fewer. Above 1,000 employees there are still 8,754 companies, and they rarely load it on the main site. In our top 50, 12 were detected on an investor-relations site and five on a newsroom or blog.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (35.64%), then the 2000s (18.75%). Only 15.13% date from the 2020s, against 22.65% on Unpkg's profile and 21.57% on jsDelivr's, and 30.48% were founded before 2000. That fits a CDN whose main file is jQuery: once a site links a version, it tends to stay. JPMorgan Chase's alumni site still loads jQuery 1.12.4 from it.

What Industries Use jQuery CDN the Most?

Retail leads at 4.42%, then Construction (3.5%), IT Services and IT Consulting (3.48%) and Real Estate (3.44%), based on our enriched company data. Medical Practices (2.59%) and Hospitality (2.52%) both make the top ten. The ten industries charted add up to 29.32% of matched companies, so no sector owns the jQuery CDN. It arrives with whatever theme or agency build a site started from.

Defence companies using the jQuery CDN include Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, both on their investor sites. Healthcare organisations on the jQuery CDN include Mayo Clinic on its giving site, Cleveland Clinic on its events calendar and Medtronic on its newsroom, which still loads jQuery 1.11.0. Government sites using the jQuery CDN include the US Department of Veterans Affairs' mental-health site, the Queensland Government's main site and the United Nations.

jQuery CDN Alternatives & Competitors

Sites use these CDNs together far more than instead of each other. Today 366,029 domains load both the jQuery CDN and cdnjs, 316,868 load it alongside jsDelivr, 126,911 alongside Google Hosted Libraries and 80,648 alongside Unpkg. None of these pairs passes our switching tests: for each one, at least 81% of the domains ever seen with both still load both. Several rivals carry jQuery too. The jQuery download page lists Google, Microsoft, cdnjs and jsDelivr as other CDNs hosting its releases.

Expert Analysis: jQuery CDN Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

David Thomson
David ThomsonCTO, TechnologyChecker

Most library CDNs tell you that a site loads a file. code.jquery.com also tells you which version, because the version sits in the file name. That makes it one of the more useful detections in our crawl. In October 2026 we found 863,027 domains loading a script from it, and matched 460,026 to a company. It ranks 6th of the 60 CDNs we track. Nobody pays for it, so these are sites, not accounts. On 12 October I opened our top 50 company pages in a browser and pulled a sample of the exact file addresses our crawler recorded.

Growth trajectory

The count went from 670,984 in June to 863,027 in October, and 125,714 of that came in one step, to 796,698 in July. That isn't a jQuery revival. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time; the three months after July added 66,329 between them. Since March 2026, 123,477 domains have dropped the jQuery CDN. When I recounted, about one in eight of those still loaded it on another hostname, so a drop often means one subdomain was rebuilt, not that the company left jQuery.

"You don't adopt the jQuery CDN in 2026. You inherit it, from a theme, a template or a developer who built the site a long time ago." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: don't read the July step as demand. Treat this as an installed base of older front ends.

Who loads it

58.04% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, and 82.40% have 50 or fewer. The base is older than on our other library-CDN profiles: 15.13% were founded in the 2020s, against 18.49% on cdnjs's and 22.65% on Unpkg's, and 30.48% before 2000. The enterprise tail is 8,754 companies above 1,000 staff, and they seldom load it on the main domain: only 9 of our top 50 were detected there. In that top 50, 12 detections sit on investor-relations sites: General Motors, Lockheed Martin, T-Mobile, United Airlines, Northrop Grumman, GE HealthCare, TJX and others. Five more are newsrooms or blogs, such as Medtronic's, 3M's and Cisco's. Two investor sites from our first list, Dell's and Nike's, now serve their own copy of jQuery 3.5.1, so I replaced them.

Sales signal: at a large company, a jQuery CDN hit often marks an IR site, a newsroom or a careers portal. The buyer is whoever owns that property, often a communications team or its agency, not central engineering.

Where and in which sectors

The United States has 129,965 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (38,401), India (33,345) and Brazil (22,271). No industry dominates. Retail leads at 4.42%, Construction is 2nd at 3.5% and the ten largest sectors add up to 29.32%. Construction and Medical Practices (2.59%) ranking this high points to small local-service businesses rather than software companies.

Sales signal: trades, clinics and local retailers are where this list is deepest. Agencies selling site rebuilds or care plans should start there.

Next to the other public CDNs

We found no switching between the jQuery CDN and any rival. Sites load several public CDNs at once: 366,029 domains load both it and cdnjs today, 316,868 load it with jsDelivr and 126,911 with Google Hosted Libraries. For every pair, at least 81% of the domains ever seen with both still load both. Our data can't say why a site stops loading code.jquery.com, but the two I checked, Dell's and Nike's investor sites, had moved to a self-hosted copy.

"When Dell's and Nike's investor sites dropped code.jquery.com, they didn't switch CDNs. They put jQuery on their own servers. For a free file, that's what leaving looks like." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: sites calling three or four CDNs make a ready-made list for web-performance and consolidation work. Each extra host is another DNS lookup and connection before the page renders.

What else these sites run

Across the 830,475 domains in our clean live set, Bootstrap runs on 46.43%, core-js on 41.22%, jQuery UI on 27.13% and jQuery Migrate on 23.39%. Part of Bootstrap's share has a documented cause: its 4.x starter template linked jQuery's slim build from code.jquery.com until the 4.6 docs switched to jsDelivr. WordPress sits on 22.9%, well below its 40.23% on Unpkg's profile. Tailwind CSS on 11.32% shows some newer builds still reach for it.

Sales signal: Bootstrap with jQuery and jQuery Migrate is an older front-end stack. Pitch rebuilds and maintenance here, not React tooling.

The version in the file name

In a sample of 4,044 domains whose first recorded code.jquery.com file was a versioned jQuery core build, 1,986 (49.11%) load a version older than 3.5.0. That release, in April 2020, fixed two moderate cross-site scripting advisories, CVE-2020-11022 and CVE-2020-11023, and every older build in our sample falls inside at least one of their ranges. 772 (19.09%) are still on a 1.x build, 109 of them through jquery-latest.min.js, an address that still served jQuery 1.11.1 when I fetched it on 12 October. The 3.6 line is the most common, with 969. jQuery 4.0.0 shipped on 17 January 2026; 15 sites in the sample use it.

Sales signal: for security and compliance vendors, the version is the hook. A domain on 1.12.4 or 2.2.4 sits inside the published advisory ranges, and our data finds it without touching the site.

What it costs and who runs it

Nothing. The jQuery download page says the library is provided under the MIT license, the CDN's release page credits Fastly for delivery, and jquery.com carries the OpenJS Foundation's copyright. The release page recommends integrity hashes for every file. Of the 41 large-company pages in our candidate list whose HTML linked the script directly, 16 add one; JPMorgan Chase's alumni site does, even on jQuery 1.12.4.

Sales signal: there's no contract to displace. Sell the upgrade path instead: 4.0 is out, and half the sample still runs a build older than the April 2020 security release.

Key takeaways

1. 863,027 domains, 6th of 60 CDNs with 4.12%. These are websites loading a free file, not paying accounts.

2. 49.11% of a 4,044-site sample pin a jQuery build older than 3.5.0; 15 have moved to 4.0.

Working with the list

For an agency, filter to companies with 11 to 200 staff in the United States or the United Kingdom, then open the site and read the jQuery version from the script address. A plain opener: "Your site still loads jQuery 1.12.4 from the public CDN; here's what a supported front end would take." For a security vendor, the IR and newsroom hostnames at large companies are the quickest wins, because they're often outside the main release process. The full list of 863,027 jQuery CDN domains, with company and stack data, is on TechnologyChecker.io.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses jQuery CDN?

Mostly small businesses, plus a long enterprise tail on side sites. Our October 2026 crawl finds 863,027 websites loading files from code.jquery.com, and 82.40% of matched companies have 50 or fewer staff. Named examples include General Motors, Lockheed Martin and United Airlines on their investor sites, BT and the United Nations on their main sites, and Mayo Clinic on its giving site.

How many customers does jQuery CDN have?

None in the paying sense: the jQuery CDN is free and has no accounts or plans. What we can count is websites. Our October 2026 crawl finds 863,027 domains loading at least one file from code.jquery.com, and 460,026 of them match a company record. Since March 2026 we've seen 123,477 domains drop it, about one in eight of them still loading it on another hostname.

What is jQuery CDN's market share?

4.12% of the CDN category, 6th of the 60 services we track, on 863,027 domains. Cloudflare and Google Cloud CDN rank higher but are site CDNs. Among library CDNs it's 4th, behind cdnjs (2,276,149 domains), jsDelivr (2,012,188) and Google Hosted Libraries (1,656,543), and 152,950 domains ahead of Unpkg (710,077). The share counts sites, not spend.

What are the best alternatives to jQuery CDN?

For jQuery itself, cdnjs, jsDelivr, Google Hosted Libraries and Microsoft's CDN all host its releases, per jQuery's download page. Unpkg serves any file on npm, jQuery included. Self-hosting is the other route. Most sites already mix them: 366,029 domains load both the jQuery CDN and cdnjs today, and 316,868 load it alongside jsDelivr.

Which countries use jQuery CDN the most?

The United States, with 129,965 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (38,401), India (33,345) and Brazil (22,271). Germany (17,487), France (16,922) and Canada (16,614) follow closely. These counts cover the 460,026 jQuery CDN domains we matched to a company, so they describe the businesses behind the sites, not where their visitors are.

What size companies use jQuery CDN?

Mostly very small ones. 58.04% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.36% have 11 to 50, so 82.40% have 50 staff or fewer. 8,754 companies have more than 1,000 employees, and they usually load it on one side property: 12 of the 50 in our top list were detected on an investor-relations site.

How old are companies that use jQuery CDN?

Older than on our cdnjs, jsDelivr and Unpkg profiles. The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (35.64%), then the 2000s (18.75%), and only 15.13% date from the 2020s, against 22.65% on Unpkg's profile and 21.57% on jsDelivr's. 30.48% were founded before 2000, which fits sites that linked a jQuery version years ago and kept it.

What is the ideal customer profile for jQuery CDN?

The ideal jQuery CDN customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees (58.04%), Location: US, UK, India, Brazil, Founded: 2010s (35.64%); 30.48% before 2000, Industry: Retail, construction, IT services, Site stack: jQuery with Bootstrap (46.43%) — based on our analysis of 460,026 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.

What is a jQuery CDN?

It's code.jquery.com, the jQuery project's own content delivery network. It serves jQuery, jQuery UI, jQuery Migrate and a few smaller project files from public URLs, so a site can link them instead of hosting them. Its release page says it's powered by Fastly and recommends integrity hashes. We find 863,027 websites loading it.

Is jQuery still relevant in 2026?

On existing websites, very much. The CDN copy alone loads on 863,027 sites in our October 2026 crawl, and those sites lean small and older: 82.40% of matched companies have 50 or fewer staff and 30.48% were founded before 2000. The project still ships, too. jQuery 4.0.0 came out on 17 January 2026, according to the jQuery blog.

Is jQuery being phased out?

Not by its maintainers: the jQuery team released version 4.0.0 on 17 January 2026, per the jQuery blog. Usage of the CDN copy looks static rather than shrinking or upgrading. In a sample of 4,044 sites loading a versioned core file from code.jquery.com, 15 used 4.0 and 1,986 (49.11%) still pinned a build older than 3.5.0.

Is jQuery 2.2.4 vulnerable?

Yes, by GitHub's advisory database. 2.2.4 sits inside the affected ranges of CVE-2020-11022 and CVE-2020-11023, two moderate cross-site scripting flaws in how jQuery's DOM methods, such as .html() and .append(), handle untrusted HTML. Both were fixed in 3.5.0 in April 2020. 2.2.4 is still on the jQuery CDN as the last 2.x file, and in our sample 194 of 4,044 sites used a 2.2 build.

Is jQuery 3.7.1 vulnerable?

It falls outside the two 2020 cross-site scripting advisories: GitHub's database lists CVE-2020-11022 and CVE-2020-11023 as affecting versions before 3.5.0, and 3.7.1 shipped in August 2023. It's still the newest 3.x file on the jQuery CDN. In our sample, 552 of 4,044 sites loading a core file from code.jquery.com used a 3.7 build.

What is the latest version of jQuery?

jQuery 4.0.0, released on 17 January 2026. The jQuery CDN's release page also keeps the last version of each older branch: 3.7.1, 2.2.4 and 1.12.4. Few sites have moved yet. In our sample of 4,044 sites loading a versioned core file from code.jquery.com, 15 used a 4.0 file, while 969 used a 3.6 release.

Is the jQuery CDN free?

Yes. There are no plans or sign-ups: you link a file from code.jquery.com and the browser fetches it. jQuery's download page says the library is provided under the MIT license, and the CDN's release page credits Fastly for delivery. The trade-off is control, so keep a self-hosted fallback for any file your pages can't run without.

How does TechnologyChecker.io detect the jQuery CDN?

We count a domain when a page on it loads a script from code.jquery.com, whether that's jQuery, jQuery UI or the Migrate plugin, and whether a developer, theme or plugin added it. When we opened our 50 named companies on 12 October 2026, 46 loaded a script from code.jquery.com; the other four blocked automated visits or redirected by location.
