Companies Using OVH

I pulled OVH out of our October 2026 crawl to answer a narrow question first: when we say a domain uses OVH, what is it using? In a random sample of 80 live domains we re-checked on 11 October, 70 used OVH nameservers and 46 served their website from OVH's network. The full count is 451,197 domains, 313,975 of them matched to a company, and OVH is 4th of the 70 technologies in Web Hosting with 4.35%.

Registrar first, web host second

40 of the 80 sampled domains used OVH for DNS but not for mail, and 8 used OVH mail without OVH DNS. Only 1 of the 75 that answered over HTTP returned OVH's load-balancer header. So OVH is, before anything else, where these domains keep their DNS, and about six in ten also put the website on OVH servers. The large French names on our list show both patterns. Elsan, CHU de Lille, Cerfrance, LDC and Petit Forestier keep their DNS and their website at OVH. Egis, STEF, VNF and KPMG Luxembourg use OVH nameservers and serve the site from somewhere else: Microsoft Azure in Egis's case, KPMG's own network in Luxembourg's.

Sales Signal: before pitching hosting, check where the site resolves. A domain with OVH nameservers and an Azure or AWS address is a DNS customer of OVH, and the hosting decision was made elsewhere.

Growth is mostly coverage

The chart reads 387,196 in June 2026, 425,484 in July, 426,618 in August, 447,929 in September and 451,197 in October. The 38,288-domain step into July and the 21,311 added into September are mostly changes on our side. The domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones coming in, and our detection signals widen over time. From September to October the line moved by 3,268, too little to call growth or decline. Since we began recording drops on 16 March 2026, 6,655 domains have dropped OVH, about 1.5% of the current count.

Sales Signal: treat OVH as a large, steady pool of about 450,000 French-leaning domains. Nothing in the chart supports pitching it as a fast-growing segment, or as a collapsing one.

Who the customers are

75.79% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 17.46% have 11 to 50. On WP Engine's profile the smallest band is 51.87%, so OVH's base leans much harder to the very small. Age points the same way: 40.11% were founded in the 2010s and 21.79% in the 2020s. There's a real upper tier, though. 1,314 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff (932, 140 and 242 in the three largest size bands), and French ones are there in numbers: the construction groups Demathieu Bard and Legendre, the care operators Colisée and LNA Santé, the bakery chain Marie Blachère, the childcare group Les Petits Chaperons Rouges. OVHcloud's US site claims over 1.6 million customers worldwide. That's the vendor's count of customers, ours is a count of domains, so the two don't compare directly.

We left 18 large companies, Sodexo and Gucci among them, off the company list. Their only OVH detection was a vulnerability-disclosure page that ZeroDisclo hosts for them on OVH's network.

Sales Signal: at a small OVH customer the buyer is the owner or the freelancer who registered the domain. At the large French accounts it's an IT team that may run DNS, mail and hosting with three different vendors. Sell price and simplicity to the first group and consolidation to the second.

A French host first

We placed 217,891 matched companies in France, about three in four of the 290,080 in the 15 countries charted. Belgium follows with 19,954, then Spain (13,733), Poland (10,554) and Italy (10,158). The United States has 3,419, against 191,213 on WP Engine's profile. Spain and Poland ranking third and fourth fits OVH's history. OVHcloud's history page says its first subsidiaries outside France opened in those two countries in 2004. French-speaking Africa shows up as well, with Tunisia (2,969), Morocco (940) and Senegal (719) all in the top 15. By industry, Construction leads at 4.53%, then Retail (4.32%) and Business Consulting and Services (4.19%), and no sector reaches 5%.

Sales Signal: an OVH list is a French-language list. Outreach, landing pages and support need to work in French first, and Belgium, Switzerland (1,752) and Luxembourg (1,362) extend the same market.

Overlap, not switching

On our current tests none of OVH's pairs qualifies as a switching corridor, and the reason tells you how OVH is used. Since March, 4,373 domains have been seen with both OVH and Hostinger, and 3,769 still show both. With IONOS it's 657 and 351, with GoDaddy 352 and 261. That's the pattern you'd expect when one company is the DNS host and another hosts the site. The flows that do exist are small and run both ways. 339 domains dropped OVH and now show Hostinger, while 244 dropped Hostinger and now show OVH. 106 went from OVH to IONOS and 197 from IONOS to OVH. With Hetzner it's 7 and 4.

Sales Signal: don't build a campaign around OVH churn, because the numbers don't support one. The opening is consolidation. Domains with DNS at OVH and the site elsewhere are prospects for whoever can offer both, or for a DNS or email product that sits on top.

What runs on OVH domains

Across the 451,200 live domains in our stack base, WordPress runs on 51.17% and Elementor on 17.0%. Apache is the web server we see most, on 56.07%, against Nginx on 14.45% and LiteSpeed on 1.86%. Mail tells the DNS story again. Microsoft 365 is on 12.74% and Google Workspace on 5.92%, so plenty of domains with OVH nameservers send their mail elsewhere. Cloudflare's CDN is on 12.99%, and Matomo Analytics on 4.65%, next to Google Analytics on 44.06%.

Sales Signal: half of these domains are WordPress sites, most of them small, so WordPress maintenance, security and migration services have the clearest fit. A Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace pitch has room too, since the two together reach fewer than one OVH domain in five.

What G2 reviewers say

G2's summary of OVHcloud reviews puts affordable pricing first among strengths, with 3 mentions, and cost-effectiveness, reliable performance and the range of services at 2 each. The complaints are about the service around the product: a confusing interface, poor or slow support and a disorganized user experience, each at 2 mentions. Those counts are small. Still, they fit the customer base we see, mostly micro-businesses buying on price.

Sales Signal: support and usability are the soft spots. A managed service, agency or reseller that handles OVH setup for small French clients answers those complaints directly.
