Companies Using Plesk

I run the infrastructure side of TechnologyChecker.io, so Plesk is a product I read from the server's point of view. As of our September 2026 crawl, 328,505 domains are served from a server that announces Plesk, and 222,869 of them match a company. Before using the list, it helps to be clear about what that number counts and who, in practice, made the decision.

What the header measures

Plesk's web server adds an X-Powered-By: PleskLin header on Linux, or X-Powered-By-Plesk: PleskWin on Windows, to every site it serves. We detect Plesk from that header, which is why the count is stable from crawl to crawl. It is also a floor: an admin can strip the header, and those servers are invisible to us.

To check what the header sits on, we opened 100 random Plesk domains in September 2026. 81 were live websites. Four were empty pages or redirects, 3 showed the Plesk "Domain Default page", 2 were hosting placeholders, 1 was a panel login and 2 were gambling spam; 7 did not load. Of the 93 that answered, 91 still sent the Plesk header, 57 from Linux servers and 34 from Windows. Our post on technology detection methods covers how header signals are matched.

Sales Signal: about 5% of the list is default or placeholder pages. Filter those out before any outreach to site owners.

Growth trajectory

The chart runs from 270,299 domains in June 2026 to 328,505 in September. I wouldn't call that growth. The domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widens over time; 35,779 of today's domains, 10.8%, were first seen in August or September. A header reads the same on every visit, so once coverage settles this line moves only when servers do.

Sales Signal: treat Plesk as a mature installed base. The September figure is the one to size a market with.

The customer is the host

We resolved 2,000 random Plesk sites to the network that serves them. No provider dominates. 10.2% sit behind Cloudflare, which hides the origin; after that come IONOS at 6.5%, OVHcloud 3.9%, Hetzner 3.6%, AWS 2.8%, GoDaddy 2.3% across two networks, and Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Turkish and Kazakh hosts in a long tail. The 1,837 sites that resolved used 1,591 different IP addresses. So this is not one host's fleet. It is the panel that many mostly European providers license for their servers, and a site owner inherits it with the hosting plan.

Sales Signal: if you sell to Plesk's actual buyers, group this list by IP or host. The companies that bought the licence are the providers and agencies behind those servers, not the 222,869 companies whose sites happen to run there.

Customer profile

The site owners are small. 64.95% of matched companies with a known size employ 1 to 10 people and 22.04% employ 11 to 50. The founding years lean to the 2010s (33.99%), but 30.87% predate 2000, which makes this a base of long-established firms. The 1,936 companies above 1,000 employees are real, National Bank of Pakistan, Garrigues and Monash Health among them, yet many large names appear through one side site. Seven universities in the named list, including Kennesaw State, Villanova and Stevens, show up through campus-map and virtual-tour pages built on one template, all served from Plesk for Linux. The university did not choose Plesk; whoever built its map did.

Sales Signal: for enterprise names, read the detection host. A Plesk subdomain usually points to an agency or supplier relationship worth mapping, not to the company's core stack.

Industry and geography

No industry passes 5%: Construction leads at 4.75%, then IT Services and Retail at 4.32% each. Geography is where Plesk has a shape. The United States has the most matched companies, 24,275, but Germany (21,946), Spain (21,750) and the Netherlands (19,404) are close behind, and six European countries together reach 96,136. Turkey (17,393) and India (17,574) are the other big markets. That matches search interest in the product, which is far higher outside the US than inside it.

Where sites go when they leave

43,065 domains stopped showing the Plesk header since we began tracking in March 2026. A site that leaves Plesk has usually moved server or host, so what we can measure is the destination host, not a panel switch. The largest candidate flow is to Hostinger: 794 domains dropped Plesk and now show Hostinger, against 258 going the other way. We don't publish it, because 42.46% of those pairs still showed both, above the 40% ceiling we use to separate a move from an overlap. GoDaddy (2,080) and IONOS (838) look bigger, and OVH (701) is close, but 87% to 89% of those domains still show both: their DNS or registrar sits with those companies before and after. Only one domain has ever shown Plesk and cPanel together.

Sales Signal: a site that drops Plesk is usually changing host. Take retention and migration offers to hosts and agencies; the site owner rarely thinks about the panel.

Technology ecosystem

The stack splits into two editions. Nginx answers on 46.2% of the 331,469 live Plesk domains, because Plesk for Linux puts Nginx in front of Apache by default; IIS on 27.61% and ASP.NET on 33.34% are the Windows side. WordPress runs on 29.27%, Elementor on 9.47%, and Joomla still holds 1.53%. Microsoft 365 is on 15.9% and Google Workspace on 7.61%.

Sales Signal: the Windows third is the distinctive segment. Sites on Plesk for Windows run .NET applications that few Linux-first panels or hosts serve well.

What G2 reviewers say

Plesk scores 4.3 out of 5 across 277 G2 reviews. Ease of use leads the praise with 34 mentions, and price leads the complaints with 11, followed by plugin and security limits (9). Those are the voices of people who administer servers, which fits our reading that the host is the customer. Our data cannot say why any one site left Plesk, so I read the price complaint as a hosts' concern rather than something the churn figure proves.

Sales Signal: pricing pressure on per-server licences is the opening for competing panels, and it lands on hosts first.
