Our October 2026 crawl finds 30,733 domains whose MX record points at Mail.ru's mail servers, almost all at emx.mail.ru. That host serves VK WorkSpace, the name Mail.ru for Business now goes by: biz.mail.ru redirects there. Below is the list of companies that use Mail.ru for business email, each checked against live DNS, with the online schools Skillbox and Uchi.ru, the Uzbek marketplace Uzum, the IT firm Lanit-Tercom and the Yerevan Brandy Company among them.
Mail.ru ranks 10th of the 31 services we track in Email & Webmail, with 0.35%. Before counting, we removed 8,506 domains whose mail host only looked like Mail.ru's: 5,475 companies running their own server at an address such as mail.rustywallace.com, 2,876 on nicmail.ru and 155 on other providers whose names end in mail.ru. What's left is Russian and Central Asian. Russia has 1,653 matched companies and Kazakhstan 374. How we counted is explained at the end of this page.

Mail.ru Usage Statistics
We count 30,733 Mail.ru domains in October 2026. The chart has a single point because the cleaned series starts this month: before counting, we removed 8,506 domains whose mail went to a different provider with a similar host name. The rule reads a live MX record, so a domain leaves the count once it moves its mail. 2,233 domains have dropped Mail.ru since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and a recheck found about 30 of them still matching on another hostname.

Which countries use Mail.ru the most? Russia, with 1,653 matched companies, then Kazakhstan (374), Azerbaijan (239), Armenia (159), the United States (159), Uzbekistan (153) and Belarus (142). Nine of the top 15 are former Soviet republics. Russia's lead is bigger than the chart shows: of the 29,374 domains that pointed at emx.mail.ru on our check, 18,862 end in .ru, .su or .рф, but Russia began blocking LinkedIn in 2016, so fewer Russian firms match a company page.

The 1990s hold 8.14%, against 7.24% on our Yandex Mail profile, and 1.15% predate 1960. The oldest verified names are the Yerevan Brandy Company (1887), the combine maker Rostselmash (1929) and the Turkish swimwear brand Zeki Triko (1958).

IT Services and IT Consulting leads at 8.93%, then Technology, Information and Internet (4.49%), Advertising Services (4.38%), Software Development (3.86%) and Business Consulting (3.51%), based on our enriched company data. Add Information Technology & Services (2.84%) and the tech cluster comes to 20.12%. Logistics (2.14%), financial services (1.85%) and law firms (1.7%) fill out the top ten.
Online schools using Mail.ru include Skillbox, Uchi.ru, Lerna and Axis Education in Kazakhstan. Retailers on Mail.ru include Uzum Market, Makro's supermarkets in Uzbekistan and the fashion brand LICHI. How We Counted Mail.ru Domains
A domain counts here when its MX record names a Mail.ru mail host. Our rule looks for the letters mail.ru in the host name, and that matched 39,295 live domains. We removed 90 whose page titles marked them as for-sale, parked or gambling pages, and 8,506 whose mail went to a different provider. Some domains fell into both groups, so 8,562 came out in all, leaving the 30,733 every chart on this page uses.
What came out. On 13 October 2026 we looked up the MX record of every live domain. Three groups contained the letters without being Mail.ru. 5,475 domains run their own mail server at mail.<domain>, because the domain name starts with 'ru': mail.rustywallace.com, mail.ruesma.com, mail.rubytech.ru. 2,876 use nicmail.ru, a separate Russian mail host, and 155 use other providers whose names end in mail.ru, such as r01mail.ru. The lookalikes were common among companies with a LinkedIn page: in a sample of 200 matched domains before the cut, 73 were self-hosted lookalikes and 7 used nicmail.ru, many of them American, German, Spanish or Brazilian.
What stayed in. 29,374 domains pointed at Mail.ru's own hosts, almost all at emx.mail.ru, with VK's own domains at mxs.mail.ru. The count also keeps the domains that returned no MX record (925 across the raw set) or no longer matched the rule (491) on our check, because we can't tell which provider they last used. They're a small remainder, and none of them is on the company list, which only includes domains that pointed at emx.mail.ru.
Expert Analysis: Mail.ru Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026
Mail.ru's business mail is VK WorkSpace now, and it's a Russian and Central Asian product. Our October 2026 crawl counts 30,733 domains on it, 10th of 31 in Email & Webmail at 0.35%. That number comes after one cleaning step, which matters for anyone building a list from it, so I'll start there.
Cleaning the count
The detection rule looks for the letters mail.ru anywhere in a domain's mail host name. On 13 October 2026 I looked up the MX record of every live domain it matched, 39,295 of them. 29,374 pointed at Mail.ru's own hosts, nearly all at emx.mail.ru. Three other groups only contained the letters. 5,475 domains start with "ru" and run their own server at mail.<domain>: mail.rustywallace.com, mail.ruesma.com, mail.rubytech.ru. 2,876 use nicmail.ru, a separate mail host, and 155 use other providers whose names end in mail.ru, such as r01mail.ru. We removed those 8,506 before counting.

Sales signal: if you build a Mail.ru list from any other source, filter on the exact host, emx.mail.ru. Anything else is someone else's customer.
Where the lookalikes came from
The two false groups looked different. Only 304 of the 5,475 self-hosted lookalikes ended in .ru, .su or .рф; 2,224 were .com domains and 2,904 used other endings, German, Dutch, Swiss and Brazilian among them. They're ordinary companies whose names begin with "ru", such as the Madrid builder Ruesma and the Belgian football club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. nicmail.ru was the opposite: 2,172 of its 2,876 domains are Russian, so it's a separate Russian mail host that the loose rule folded in. Before the cut, the lookalikes crowded the top of the company ranking: of the 90 matched companies with the biggest LinkedIn following, 22 were lookalikes and 9 used nicmail.ru.
Sales signal: nicmail.ru's 2,172 Russian domains are a separate prospect list for anyone selling against domestic mail hosts.
VK WorkSpace in practice
The product behind emx.mail.ru is VK WorkSpace. biz.mail.ru redirects there, and its site says the services were built by Mail.ru Group and are now developed by VK Tech. It sells corporate mail on your domain alongside a messenger, video calls, a calendar, cloud storage and documents. The Basic plan costs 309 roubles per user a month for teams of up to 300, and Extended 499 roubles for up to 500 (checked 13 October 2026).
Sales signal: a VK WorkSpace customer has usually bought the whole bundle, with mail as one part. Pitch against the bundle, or alongside it.
Who the customers are
Russia leads the matched companies with 1,653, then Kazakhstan (374), Azerbaijan (239), Armenia (159) and Uzbekistan (153); nine of the top 15 countries are former Soviet republics. Of matched companies with a known size, 46.22% have 1 to 10 staff and 32.95% have 11 to 50, and 49.82% were founded in the 2010s. By trade, IT services leads at 8.93%, and IT, internet and software firms together make up 20.12% of matched companies. The verified list fits: online schools (Skillbox, Uchi.ru, Lerna), Central Asian retail (Uzum Market, Makro in Uzbekistan), IT firms (Lanit-Tercom, SimbirSoft, BSS) and a few manufacturers, including the Yerevan Brandy Company and Rostselmash, which uses it on its Agrotronic site.
Sales signal: the core buyer is a Russian or Central Asian SMB with an office manager running IT. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan supply several of the largest verified users.
LinkedIn undercounts Russia
Russia's 1,653 matched companies are 32.4% of the 5,100 we matched, but 18,862 of the 29,374 domains we confirmed on emx.mail.ru, 64.2%, end in .ru, .su or .рф. Russia began blocking LinkedIn in 2016, so Russian firms match a company page less often. The country chart is right about the order and wrong about the size of Russia's lead.
Sales signal: size a Russian campaign from the domain list, not from matched companies, and enrich it from Russian sources.
Little switching to report
Mail.ru shares few domains with the two leaders. 92 domains run it and Google Workspace today, out of 143 ever seen with both, and 61 run it and Microsoft 365, out of 105. More than half still run both, so nothing passes our switching tests. 2,233 domains have dropped Mail.ru since we began tracking on 16 March 2026.

What is Mail.ru email?
Mail.ru is a Russian webmail service, and its business mail on a company's own domain is now sold as VK WorkSpace; biz.mail.ru redirects there. VK WorkSpace's site says the services were built by Mail.ru Group and are now developed by VK Tech. In our crawl, a company domain on it points its MX record at emx.mail.ru.
Is mail.ru a valid email?
Yes. Mail.ru runs real mail servers, and our 13 October 2026 check found 29,374 company domains whose MX record points at its emx.mail.ru host. Be careful with look-alikes, though: 5,475 domains run their own server at names like mail.rustywallace.com, and 2,876 use nicmail.ru, a different provider. We left both out of our count.
How much does VK WorkSpace cost?
VK WorkSpace's site lists the Basic plan at 309 roubles per user per month for teams of up to 300, and the Extended plan at 499 roubles per user per month for teams of up to 500. Larger companies get a quote. A 14-day trial of either plan costs 1 rouble. Checked 13 October 2026.
Is Mail.ru for Business the same as VK WorkSpace?
Yes. biz.mail.ru, the old Mail.ru for Business address, now redirects to VK WorkSpace, which bundles corporate mail on your domain with a messenger, video calls, a calendar, cloud storage and documents. Its site says the services were developed by Mail.ru Group and are now built by VK Tech. Checked 13 October 2026.
How can you tell if a company uses Mail.ru for its email?
Look up the domain's MX record. If it returns emx.mail.ru, the mail goes to Mail.ru's VK WorkSpace servers; VK's own domains, such as vk.com, use mxs.mail.ru. Don't trust a loose match on the letters mail.ru: mail.rubytech.ru and mx01.nicmail.ru contain them too and belong to other mail servers. One exact-host lookup settles it.
Which mail servers end in mail.ru but aren't Mail.ru?
nicmail.ru is the largest, used by 2,876 domains in our raw set, and r01mail.ru and several smaller hosts follow. A bigger group doesn't end in mail.ru at all but contains the letters: 5,475 domains whose names start with 'ru' run their own server at an address like mail.rustywallace.com. We removed all of them from our count.
