Companies Using Bluehost
Bluehost runs 349,922 domains, fifth in Web Hosting behind GoDaddy, Hostinger, IONOS and OVH. It is one of the few technologies on this site whose presence a customer cannot quietly hide: we identify it from the domain's nameserver and authority records, and a site cannot point those somewhere else while still being hosted there.
That makes the count unusually close to a census rather than a sample. We checked a random sample of 30 Bluehost domains against live DNS and 27 still resolved to Bluehost nameservers. The three that did not had moved to other providers since we last crawled them, which is churn rather than error.
Bluehost is also, overwhelmingly, a WordPress business. WordPress appears on 72.33% of its domains, with jQuery on 76.57% and Yoast SEO on 29.64%. That concentration is not unique to Bluehost, and the comparison against its peers is the most useful thing on this page.

Bluehost Usage Statistics
Bluehost's current window is close to flat: 325,425 domains in June 2026, 350,251 in July and 349,922 in August. Compare that with the client-side technologies we track, whose windows usually climb steeply, and the difference is the detection method rather than the market. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly discovered ones added, and our signals widen over time, but a nameserver record is read the same way on every visit, so a hosting signal moves when hosting moves.
List of Companies Using Bluehost
Of 349,922 Bluehost domains, 190,139 match a company record, and every percentage on this page is a share of that matched set. Note that shared hosting attracts far fewer recognisable brands than the developer technologies we profile, which is itself informative about who the product is for.

There are 349,922 companies and websites using Bluehost, sign up to download the entire Bluehost dataset.
The larger names in the list are mostly regional employers, universities and manufacturers rather than household brands: Artech Information Systems, Masood Textile Mills, Alameda Health System, Fort Hays State University and Ken Garff Automotive Group. Detections sit on the apex domain far more often than on a subdomain, which follows from reading the record at the domain level.
Which Countries Use Bluehost the Most?
Bluehost is the most American technology in this group. The United States accounts for 67.12% of matched companies, with Canada at 5.95% and the United Kingdom at 4.26%. Shared hosting is bought close to home, and Bluehost sells into the US small-business market above all others.
Share of the 190,139 Bluehost domains we matched to a company record — 54.3% of the 349,922 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Bluehost Market Share Among Web Hosting
Bluehost holds 3.6% of Web Hosting at rank 5. The category is extremely top-heavy: GoDaddy alone takes 45.04%, more than twelve times Bluehost's share, and the top three take 63.86% between them.
For scale against a provider we profiled the same day, Bluehost is 2.84 times the size of SiteGround (123,341 domains), which we detect by the same nameserver method, so the two counts are directly comparable.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Bluehost Customers by Company Size & Age
This is a small-business product and the distribution says so plainly. 72.71% of matched companies employ 1-10 people and 20.01% employ 11-50. Only 2.34% employ more than 200, against 5.15% for React Router and 13.97% for Angular in the same crawl.
The handful of larger organisations that appear tend to be running a single marketing or campaign site on shared hosting rather than their main estate.

Company Age (Founded Decade)
What Industries Use Bluehost the Most?
No industry reaches 5%. Construction leads at 4.35%, followed by Business Consulting and Services at 4.08%, Advertising Services at 3.56%, IT Services and IT Consulting at 3.11% and Real Estate at 2.86%.
That flatness is the finding. Where a developer framework concentrates in software and IT, Bluehost's base looks like a cross-section of small business generally: builders, consultants, agencies, clinics, gyms and non-profits. Nobody chooses shared hosting because of their industry, and the distribution reflects that.
Bluehost Alternatives & Competitors
Web Hosting is one of the few categories where the ranking is a genuine shortlist, because a domain's nameservers point at one provider at a time. GoDaddy dominates at 45.04%, and Hostinger at 12.26% is the provider Bluehost most often loses customers to.
One caution when reading any hosting comparison: providers are detected by different methods, so a provider identified only through page headers will look smaller than one identified through DNS. Bluehost, SiteGround, HostGator and DreamHost are all read from DNS and can be compared directly.

Tech Stack of Bluehost-Powered Websites
WordPress on 72.33% is the defining number, but it is not a Bluehost trait. We measured the same figure across the shared hosts we detect by DNS and found SiteGround at 72.90%, Bluehost at 72.26%, DreamHost at 60.97% and HostGator at 59.48%. Bluehost and SiteGround are indistinguishable on this measure; the whole tier is a WordPress tier.
The rest of the stack is aging. jQuery appears on 76.57% of Bluehost domains and jQuery Migrate, a compatibility shim for code written against older jQuery, on 60.46%. Yoast SEO reaches 29.64% and Cloudflare sits in front of 20.83%.

Expert Analysis: Bluehost Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Most technology counts are a measure of two things at once: how many sites run the product, and how visible the product chose to be. Hosting is the rare case where the second variable nearly disappears. Bluehost is identified from the domain's nameserver and authority records, and a customer cannot point those anywhere else while still being hosted there. The signal is not something a theme update can remove or a build step can strip.
TechnologyChecker.io detects Bluehost on 349,922 domains, fifth in Web Hosting at 3.6% of the category. To check what that number is worth, we drew a random sample of 30 Bluehost domains and queried live DNS for each one. 27 still resolved to Bluehost nameservers. The three that did not had moved to Cloudflare, to Wix and to a smaller DNS provider since our last crawl of them. There were no false positives at all: every miss was a domain that had genuinely left.
A 90% live-confirmation rate on a random sample, with every miss explained by real churn rather than by a bad rule, is about as good as a technology count gets.
The obvious thing to say about Bluehost is that it is a WordPress host. WordPress appears on 72.33% of its domains, jQuery on 76.57%, Yoast SEO on 29.64%. But an isolated percentage like that invites the wrong conclusion, so we measured the same figure across every shared host we detect the same way. SiteGround came back at 72.90%, Bluehost at 72.26%, DreamHost at 60.97% and HostGator at 59.48%.
Bluehost and SiteGround are, within noise, the same business measured twice. The WordPress concentration is a property of the shared hosting tier, not of Bluehost's positioning, and any vendor claiming a distinctive WordPress focus in this tier is describing the water rather than the fish. The genuinely separable fact is the twelve-point gap between the Bluehost and SiteGround pair and the HostGator and DreamHost pair.
Where the profile earns its keep is in what we chose not to publish. The raw churn data says 4,847 domains left Bluehost and now resolve through Cloudflare, which would make Cloudflare the single largest destination on this page by a factor of four, larger than every genuine host combined. It is not a hosting migration. Pointing your nameservers at Cloudflare conceals whichever host sits behind it, so the Bluehost signal disappears while the hosting arrangement may not have changed at all.
Three independent checks agree on that. Flows in both directions are nearly symmetrical, at 4,847 out against 3,728 in, where a real migration runs one way. 88.47% of Bluehost domains that have ever shown Cloudflare still show both today, which is coexistence rather than replacement. And two of the eight large Bluehost customers we spot-checked by hand, Telvista and Empire Distributors, have live Cloudflare nameservers right now while still appearing in our Bluehost set, which is the artifact caught in the act.
The same reasoning removed GoDaddy, which showed 1,223 apparent departures. 88.26% of the Bluehost domains that ever showed a GoDaddy signal still show both, because GoDaddy is very often the registrar for a domain that Bluehost hosts. Registrar and host are not competing for the same decision. WP Engine, Kinsta, Flywheel, Namecheap and IONOS all failed on the same test.
Of roughly thirty-five candidate switching corridors, three survived testing. The other thirty-two were domains that had changed how they were visible to us rather than where they were hosted.
What remains is small and, we think, real. Hostinger is where Bluehost's leavers actually go: 1,036 domains against 189 arriving from Hostinger, a five-to-one asymmetry. Only 44.08% of the Bluehost and Hostinger overlap still shows both, so the two genuinely displace each other, and Hostinger appears among Bluehost churners at roughly thirty-five times its rate among Bluehost's active customers. DreamHost accounts for a further 68 departures on the same pattern. Running the other way, Bluehost gains 80 domains from HostGator against 34 lost.
All three of those flows are small enough that they describe a direction rather than a trend, and we report them at the size we actually observed rather than widening the window until they look impressive.
The customer profile itself holds no surprises but sets useful expectations. 72.71% of matched companies employ ten people or fewer and only 2.34% employ more than 200, the smallest large-company share of anything we profiled this week. The United States accounts for 67.12% of the base, more than three times the American share of Angular's. No industry reaches 5%: construction leads at 4.35%, then consulting at 4.08%, advertising at 3.56% and real estate at 2.86%. That flatness is the point. Nobody picks shared hosting because of their sector.
Bluehost's domains also leave slowly. 11,047 have dropped it since March 2026, a 3.0% loss rate, against 4.31% for SiteGround and 5.14% for WP Engine over the same window. Some of that stability is real switching costs, since moving a WordPress site between shared hosts is a chore that small businesses defer. Some of it is the detection method: a DNS record only changes when someone deliberately changes it, so hosting signals do not flicker the way client-side ones do.
That shows up in the shape of the usage window too. Bluehost reads 325,425 domains in June 2026, 350,251 in July and 349,922 in August, essentially a plateau, where the client-side technologies we track over the same three months climb by half or more as coverage widens. Neither shape is adoption. The difference is what happens to a signal when a crawler looks at more of the web.
How to use this. If you sell to small businesses in the United States, this is a 349,922-domain list of them, filterable by industry and company size, and it is unusually complete because the signal cannot be hidden. If you sell WordPress products, note that the shared hosting tier is uniformly about 60% to 73% WordPress, so choosing between these hosts as prospecting sources is a question of volume and geography rather than of WordPress density. And if you are benchmarking hosting market share from any source, check how each provider is detected before comparing the numbers, because a provider identified only from page headers will always look smaller than one identified from DNS.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Bluehost?
We detect Bluehost on 349,922 domains, including The Telvista Co., Artech Information Systems LLC., Masood Textile Mills Ltd.. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Construction (13.23%).
How many customers does Bluehost have?
We detect 349,922 domains running Bluehost across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 190,139 of them (54.3%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 11,047 domains carried a Bluehost detection previously and no longer do.
What is Bluehost's market share?
Bluehost holds 3.6% of the Web Hosting category, ranking #5. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.
What are the best alternatives to Bluehost?
The top alternatives to Bluehost include GoDaddy (45.04% market share), Hostinger (12.26% market share), IONOS (6.56% market share), OVH (4.39% market share) — measured as a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category.
Which countries use Bluehost the most?
The United States dominates at 67.12% of matched companies, far higher than any other technology in this batch. Canada follows at 5.95%, the United Kingdom at 4.26% and Australia at 2.29%. Shared hosting is bought locally, and Bluehost is fundamentally a United States small-business brand.
What size companies use Bluehost?
72.71% of matched companies employ 1-10 people and 20.01% employ 11-50. Only 2.34% employ more than 200, the smallest large-company share among the technologies we profiled this week. Shared hosting is a small-business product, and larger organisations that appear are usually running one campaign site rather than their main estate.
How old are companies that use Bluehost?
43.13% of matched companies were founded in the 2010s, 20.25% in the 2020s and 18.46% in the 2000s. There is a real long tail as well, with 8.09% founded in the 1990s and 2.28% before 1960. The base skews toward businesses that set up a website once and have kept it running since.
What is the ideal customer profile for Bluehost?
A United States small business with fewer than ten employees, founded in the 2010s, running a WordPress site. Construction firms, consultancies, agencies and real estate businesses are the most common industries, though no single one reaches 5%, because shared hosting is bought across the whole small business economy.
How many websites use Bluehost?
TechnologyChecker.io detects Bluehost on 349,922 domains, ranking it fifth in Web Hosting with 3.6% of the category. Of those, 190,139 match a company record. Because we identify Bluehost from nameserver records rather than page content, this count is closer to a complete census than most technology figures we publish.
How is Bluehost detected?
Through the domain's DNS records. Bluehost customers point their nameserver and authority records at bluehost.com, and those records are readable by anyone. A site cannot remove the signal while remaining hosted there, which is why hosting counts are more reliable than script-based detections that depend on what a page happens to load.
How accurate is the Bluehost detection?
We took a random sample of 30 domains we currently record as Bluehost customers and queried live DNS for each. 27 still resolved to Bluehost nameservers. The other three had moved to Cloudflare, Wix and another DNS provider since our last crawl, so they are stale rather than wrong. No false positives appeared.
Do most Bluehost sites run WordPress?
Yes. WordPress appears on 72.33% of Bluehost domains. That is not distinctive to Bluehost, though. Measuring the same way across the shared hosts we detect by DNS gives SiteGround 72.90%, Bluehost 72.26%, DreamHost 60.97% and HostGator 59.48%. The entire shared hosting tier is majority WordPress, and Bluehost and SiteGround are statistically indistinguishable on this measure.
Where do Bluehost customers go when they leave?
Hostinger is the clearest destination, with 1,036 domains moving that way against 189 coming back. DreamHost accounts for a much smaller 68. Bluehost gains from HostGator, picking up 80 domains against 34 lost. Every other apparent destination failed our checks and is not published here.
Why is Cloudflare not listed as a Bluehost competitor?
Because moving your DNS to Cloudflare hides your host rather than replacing it. 4,847 former Bluehost domains now resolve through Cloudflare, which would be the largest corridor on this page, but 88.47% of Bluehost domains that ever showed Cloudflare still show both today. That is coexistence, not migration, so we suppress it.
How does Bluehost compare with SiteGround?
Bluehost is 2.84 times larger, at 349,922 domains against SiteGround's 123,341. Both are detected by the same nameserver method, so the comparison is fair in a way that hosting comparisons often are not. Their WordPress concentration is effectively identical at 72.26% and 72.90%, and SiteGround loses domains slightly faster, at 4.31% against 3.0%.
How many domains have dropped Bluehost?
11,047 domains have dropped Bluehost since we began tracking it in March 2026, a 3.0% loss rate against its live base. That is lower than SiteGround at 4.31% and WP Engine at 5.14% over the same window. This is observed movement since we started watching, not a lifetime total.
