Companies Using Yandex Mail

I pulled Yandex Mail out of our October 2026 crawl expecting a list of Russian companies. Half of that is right. A domain counts here when its MX record points at mx.yandex.net, the address Yandex's own setup guide gives for business mail, and 93,983 domains did on the data date. That's 5th of 31 in Email & Webmail at 1.06%. We matched 28,396 of them to a company, and that matched set looks Turkish, which says more about LinkedIn than about Yandex.

What an MX record proves

I looked up the MX records of 40 random domains from the set on 13 October 2026. 35 returned mx.yandex.net and nothing else. Three returned no MX at all: two domains had no DNS left, and one sat on its registrar's expiry nameservers. Two had moved, one to its own server and one to GoDaddy's. None used the older mx.yandex.ru address. 25 of the 40 also publish Yandex's SPF record. The record can't tell you whether anyone pays. In April 2023 Yandex switched organisations without a paid plan to read-only mode, according to a notice published by the web agency Saruhan Web, and a read-only mailbox still receives mail. New organisations pay first: Yandex's business page lists plans from $3.99 to $16.99 per employee a month (checked 13 October 2026).

Sales signal: treat a Yandex MX record as "mail lands at Yandex", not "pays Yandex". Older domains on a lapsed free setup are prospects for any paid mail host.

A flat line with a leak

The chart reads 85,079 in June, 97,791 in July and 93,983 in October. The June step comes from our side: the set of domains we crawl turns over each month, dead sites out and new ones in, and our detection widens. Since July the count has slipped by 3,808. The churn underneath is larger. 16,834 domains have dropped Yandex since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and when I rechecked on 13 October, 16,502 domains had dropped it on every hostname. 4,944 of those leavers end in .tr, 30% of exits from a TLD that is 6% of the live set. Russian domains run the other way: 42.6% of the live set, 7.6% of the exits.

Sales signal: Turkish SMEs on Yandex are the likeliest to move their mail; Russian ones mostly stay where they are.

Who the customers are

52.81% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 staff and 31.11% have 11 to 50. The 2010s account for 54.18% of founding years. 246 companies have more than 1,000 staff, and the big names keep their main domain's mail at Yandex: Lamoda, Familia, Komus and Evroopt, which lists a hoster.by server beside Yandex. A few use Yandex on one subdomain only. Skyeng's corporate.skyeng.ru is on Yandex while skyeng.ru sends mail to Google; Tomsk State University does the same with io.tsu.ru.

Sales signal: at a large Russian account, check the main domain first. A subdomain on Yandex usually means one team's project, not the company's mail.

Two maps of the same customer base

By matched company, Turkey leads with 10,792, then Russia (4,316), the United States (982) and the United Kingdom (646). By domain ending, Russia leads by a wide margin: 40,253 domains end in .ru, .su or .рф, 29,567 in .com and 5,672 in .tr. Russia began blocking LinkedIn in 2016, and the match rates show it: 12.1% of Russian domains matched a company, against 65.4% of Turkish ones and 44.7% of .com domains. Belarus (1,829 domains), Kazakhstan (1,199), Azerbaijan (499) and Uzbekistan (463) fill out a CIS tail.

Sales signal: don't size a Russian Yandex campaign from LinkedIn data. Use the domain list and enrich it from Russian sources.

Where the leavers go

Since March 2026, 1,045 domains moved from Yandex to Google Workspace, 684 of them in the last 90 days, and 81 moved back. 685 moved to Microsoft 365 against 17 the other way, and 14 went to Titan Email. Those rows name 1,744 leavers. I checked 30 others by hand: all 30 still had an MX record, so these weren't dead domains. 13 were .com.tr. 10 now receive mail at Google, 2 at Microsoft 365 and 1 at Zoho, and 17 run their own server or take the mailbox their web host provides, several of them Turkish hosting companies.

Sales signal: for Google and Microsoft resellers, Yandex domains in Turkey are a migration list with proof of demand. For Turkish hosts, the same list is a mailbox upsell.

The stack around it

Across the 94,409 domains in our clean live set, Yandex.Metrika runs on 45.65% and Google Analytics on 35.81%. WordPress leads the builders at 22.84%, with Tilda on 11.47% and 1C-Bitrix on 9.43%. REG.RU shows up on 12.24% and Top.Mail.Ru's counter on 6.98%. Only 1.46% sit on Hostinger.

Sales signal: Tilda and 1C-Bitrix filter out the Russian core in one step. Agencies selling Bitrix integrations will find a ready list here.

Competitive angle: in Russia, don't pitch a switch. Pitch what sits beside Yandex: 45.65% of these domains already run Yandex.Metrika, so the owner is comfortable inside Yandex's tools.
