Companies Using Parallels
Our October 2026 crawl finds 929 domains with a Parallels verification record in their DNS. Parallels asks for that record at the first step of connecting a business account in Parallels My Account to the company's identity provider for single sign-on, so the count is organisations that set up SSO for Parallels, mostly for Parallels Desktop on company Macs. Individual Mac users don't appear in it. Below is the list of companies that use Parallels, with size, country and industry: Adobe, McKinsey, Lyft, Palo Alto Networks and Canva are on it.
When we re-read the 947 domains our crawl listed with the record on 16 October (the headline 929 is the October monthly count), 946 still carried it, under 813 different codes. Groups verify whole portfolios at once: one code covers 16 Octopus Energy domains, another 11 Paramount domains. Parallels ranks 9th of 19 in Cloud Infrastructure with a 0.13% share, in a category of storage and cloud platforms it doesn't compete in. Software and IT services firms make up 33.01% of the matched companies.

Parallels Usage Statistics
The chart runs from 790 domains in June 2026 to 929 in October. Most of that rise is our coverage. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our DNS detection widened over the same months. The record itself barely moves: since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, only 6 domains have dropped it, and none of them still carries it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use Parallels the Most?
Which countries use Parallels the most? The United States, with 502 matched companies, about 7.7 times the United Kingdom's 65. Germany (55), Australia (31), the Netherlands (25) and Canada (24) follow. Norway has 11, one more than France, Japan and Switzerland with 10 each. Outside the US the counts are small enough that a single group with many domains can move a country up the chart, based on our enriched company data.
Share of the 847 Parallels domains we matched to a company record — 91.2% of the 929 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Parallels Market Share Among Cloud Infrastructure
What is Parallels' market share? 0.13% of Cloud Infrastructure, 9th of the 19 technologies we track there, on 929 domains at TechnologyChecker.io. That figure says little about Parallels' own market. Amazon S3 leads the category with 625,656 domains (84.7%), and the other rows are object storage, cloud platforms and HPE GreenLake's DNS record. None of them runs Windows on a Mac or publishes remote apps, which is what Parallels sells.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Parallels Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Parallels? Mid-sized, mostly. The biggest band is 51 to 200 employees (26.48%), and firms of 51 to 1,000 staff make up 56.77% of matched companies with a known size (478 of 842). Only 7.13% have 10 or fewer, which fits a record that a business account adds when it connects SSO. 173 companies have more than 1,000 staff, among them Adobe, McKinsey, Bloomberg and Paramount.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group was founded in the 2010s (38.81%), then the 2000s (22.39%) and the 1990s (12.48%). Only 8.55% date from the 2020s, so these are established firms with an IT team rather than new startups. The 5.56% founded before 1960 includes the University of Alabama (1831), Queen's University (1841), Brigham Young University (1875) and E.W. Scripps (1878).
What Industries Use Parallels the Most?
Software Development leads at 21.93%, followed by IT Services and IT Consulting (11.08%) and Financial Services (5.84%), based on our enriched company data. Add Technology, Information and Internet (4.17%) and Computer and Network Security (3.69%) and technology firms are 40.87% of matched companies. That's a developer and engineering crowd, the people who need Windows or Linux beside macOS on one laptop.
Security companies using Parallels include Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Zscaler, Trend Micro and McAfee, each under its own code. Software companies on Parallels include Adobe, OpenText, Canva, Xero and Snowflake. Universities using Parallels include UC San Diego, Brigham Young University, the University of Alabama and Queen's University in Canada.
Parallels Alternatives & Competitors
The rows in this table aren't Parallels' competitors. Amazon S3 (84.7%), DigitalOcean Spaces (5.82%) and Google Cloud Storage (3.8%) store files, and HPE GreenLake is another DNS verification record. Parallels' own rivals for running Windows on a Mac, VMware Fusion, UTM and CrossOver among them, have no row. The overlap worth knowing: 197 Parallels domains run Amazon S3 today, which points to a shared stack rather than a switch.

Expert Analysis: Parallels Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Most of the technologies I write about show up in a page's code. Parallels shows up in DNS. A domain counts here when its TXT records contain parallels-domain-verification, and our October 2026 crawl finds that on 929 domains, 847 of them matched to a company. On 16 October I re-read the 947 domains our crawl listed with the record: 946 still carried it. So the signal is clean. The harder part is what it measures. It doesn't count Macs running Parallels Desktop, and it can't tell a Parallels Desktop account from a Parallels RAS one.
What the record proves
Parallels asks for it at step 1 of the single sign-on setup in Parallels My Account. Parallels' setup guide says My Account "verifies the domain ownership by checking a specific TXT record", and a domain can be registered to only one business account. Once SSO is live, admins sign in through the company's identity provider and Mac users can activate Parallels Desktop with their work login. On Parallels' business page, SSO with SCIM provisioning is listed under Enterprise Edition, though the docs say any business account can use SSO for its admins.
Sales signal: every domain here is a company whose IT admin verified it for a Parallels business account, the first step of connecting Okta, Entra ID or Google Workspace. Don't read the list as a count of current business customers: accounts that skip SSO never publish the record, and nothing breaks if it outlives the subscription.
A flat line, read correctly
The usage chart climbs from 790 domains in June to 929 in October. Most of that is our side. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our DNS detection widened over the same months. Departures are the rarer event. Since we began tracking the record on 16 March 2026, 6 domains have dropped it, and none still carries it on another hostname. For a record people forget about, that's what you'd expect.
"A Parallels record tells you a company once trusted Parallels enough to plug it into single sign-on. That's a stronger account signal than a website tag, and a weaker proof of today's contract." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: don't read the curve as growth or decline. A removed record is rare and specific, so when one disappears it's worth a call; a present record says less about this quarter than it seems.
Accounts, not domains
The code in the record is the useful part. The 946 domains carry 813 different codes, and 202 domains share a code with at least one other. Octopus Energy verified 16 domains under one code, from octopus.energy to kraken.tech. Paramount's code covers 11, including cbs.com, nick.com and pluto.tv. Zühlke has 8, adesso 6, the Honda Center and Anaheim Ducks group 6, and LADbible Group 5. The oddest one is Parallels' own: parallels.com shares a code with corel.com, winzip.com and mindmanager.com, most likely a leftover of the Corel years. Corel announced on 26 February 2026 that Vector Capital would buy CorelDRAW, MindManager and WinZip while Parallels stayed with KKR; the sale closed in May 2026.
Sales signal: size a territory by code. 929 domains is closer to 800 business accounts, and a code shared by 16 brands means one central IT team to talk to.
Who verifies a domain
This is a mid-market list. The largest band is 51 to 200 employees (26.48%), and 56.77% of matched companies with a known size sit between 51 and 1,000 staff. Only 7.13% have ten or fewer, which makes sense: a freelancer with one Mac buys a licence and never touches an identity provider. At the top, 173 companies have more than 1,000 staff, Adobe, McKinsey, Bloomberg and Paramount among them. Age points the same way. 38.81% were founded in the 2010s and 22.39% in the 2000s, but only 8.55% in the 2020s.
The industry mix is narrow. Software Development is 21.93% and IT Services 11.08%, and with internet and security firms added, technology companies are 40.87% of the list. Security vendors stand out: Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Zscaler, Trend Micro and McAfee each verified a domain.
Sales signal: the contact is an IT or workplace team at a 50 to 1,000 person tech company that lets engineers choose a Mac. They already own an identity provider and a Mac management tool.
Countries
The United States has 502 of the matched companies, the United Kingdom 65 and Germany 55, then Australia (31), the Netherlands (25) and Canada (24). Below that the numbers get small, so groups matter: Octopus Energy's one code spans Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and New Zealand. Zühlke's eight domains and adesso's six work the same way, one code each.
Sales signal: North America is the volume. In Europe, work the groups: one conversation can cover a dozen domains in five countries.
The Mac estate around it
The stack is the best part of this dataset. Across the 947 domains, our email row lists Apple iCloud Mail at 80.68%, but that row also counts Apple's apple-domain-verification record, which Apple Business asks for before a company can create Managed Apple Accounts. When I read the TXT records directly, 762 of 947 carried Apple's record and 255 carried Jamf's. Atlassian's was on 645 and 1Password's on 156. Microsoft 365 runs on 43.93% and Google Workspace on 27.67%, a fair hint at which identity provider sits behind the Parallels sign-in.
Sales signal: this is a warm list for anyone who sells into managed Mac fleets: device management, endpoint security, identity and Windows app delivery. Jamf's record is already on 255 of these domains; the other 692 either use another tool or haven't verified one.
No switching to report
We publish no migration table for Parallels. Our switching tests found nothing that passes, and the record barely churns. The one overlap is with Amazon S3: 197 Parallels domains run S3 today, out of 214 ever seen with both. That's two different jobs inside one company: files on AWS, Windows on the Mac. The category table doesn't track Parallels' real rivals either. Its own comparison page names VMware Fusion Pro, UTM and CrossOver, and none of them leaves a record we can read.
"Nobody replaces Parallels with a storage bucket. The S3 overlap tells you these are cloud-first engineering shops." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: competitive displacement is hard to see from outside here. Lead with fleet size and renewal timing, and use the Jamf and Apple records to find the teams that run Macs at scale.
Key takeaways
- 929 domains in October 2026 carry the record Parallels asks for when a business account sets up SSO, under 813 codes.
- The record is sticky and can outlive a subscription: 946 of 947 still had it on 16 October, and only 6 dropped it since March.
- The typical account is a tech company of 51 to 1,000 staff (56.77%) in the US, UK or Germany.
- 762 of the 947 domains carry Apple's domain-verification record and 255 carry Jamf's: managed Mac fleets.
- The 0.13% Cloud Infrastructure share isn't a measure of Parallels' market; its real rivals have no row.
Sales applications
Outreach template: "Your team verified a Parallels business account for single sign-on, and your domain also carries Apple Business and Jamf records. We work with Mac-first engineering teams of your size on [problem]. Worth 20 minutes?"
Targeting: filter this list to 51 to 1,000 employees in software, IT services and security, then group by verification code so each group gets one approach. Start with the 255 domains that also carry Jamf's record.
Competitive angle: for VDI and remote-app vendors, the security firms on this list (Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Zscaler) have each verified a Parallels business account, which suggests their Mac users already need Windows apps.
The full list of 929 domains and 847 matched companies, with size, country, industry and stack, is on TechnologyChecker.io, refreshed with every monthly crawl.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Parallels?
Mostly mid-sized software, IT and security companies that run Parallels on company Macs. Our October 2026 crawl finds the record Parallels asks for when a business account sets up single sign-on on 929 domains, 847 of them matched to a company. Named examples include Adobe, McKinsey, Lyft, Bloomberg, Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Canva and Paramount, which covers 11 domains with one code.
How many customers does Parallels have?
Parallels' about page says more than seven million Mac users have chosen Parallels Desktop. We count something narrower: 929 domains in October 2026 with the DNS record a business account adds for single sign-on. On 16 October those domains carried 813 different codes, so think of roughly 800 business accounts, some of them lapsed. Most Parallels users never touch this record.
What is Parallels's market share?
Parallels holds 0.13% of the Cloud Infrastructure category, ranking #9. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.
What are the best alternatives to Parallels?
For running Windows on a Mac, Parallels' own comparison page sets Parallels Desktop against VMware Fusion Pro, UTM and CrossOver, and the same page covers VirtualBox. None of them has a row in our category table, whose neighbours are storage services such as Amazon S3 and DigitalOcean Spaces. For remote apps, Parallels' own site pitches Parallels RAS as an alternative to Citrix.
Which countries use Parallels the most?
The United States, with 502 matched companies, about 7.7 times the United Kingdom's 65. Germany (55), Australia (31), the Netherlands (25) and Canada (24) follow, then Norway (11) and France, Japan and Switzerland with 10 each. Groups cross borders too: Octopus Energy's 16 domains, from octopusenergy.de to octopusenergy.nz, all share a single Parallels code.
What size companies use Parallels?
Mid-sized ones. The largest band is 51 to 200 employees (26.48% of matched companies with a known size), and 56.77% have between 51 and 1,000 staff. Only 7.13% have 10 or fewer, likely because a solo Mac user has no identity provider to connect. 173 companies have more than 1,000 staff, including Adobe, McKinsey and Bloomberg.
How old are companies that use Parallels?
Mostly established. The largest group was founded in the 2010s (38.81%), then the 2000s (22.39%) and the 1990s (12.48%). Only 8.55% were founded in the 2020s. The oldest are universities and public bodies, such as the University of Alabama (1831), Queen's University (1841) and Hampshire County Council (1889). Expect firms with a Mac fleet and an IT team behind it.
What is the ideal customer profile for Parallels?
On our data, a software, IT services or security company of 51 to 1,000 staff (56.77% of matched companies), based in the United States, the UK or Germany and founded after 2000. It manages Macs centrally: 762 of the 947 domains we re-read also carry Apple's domain-verification record and 255 carry Jamf's. It already uses an identity provider for single sign-on.
What is Parallels' market share?
Parallels holds 0.13% of Cloud Infrastructure at TechnologyChecker.io, 9th of the 19 technologies we track there, on 929 domains. That isn't a share of desktop virtualisation. The category holds object storage and cloud platforms, led by Amazon S3 with 625,656 domains, and we count Parallels from a single sign-on DNS record rather than from installs of Parallels Desktop or Parallels RAS.
What company owns Parallels?
Funds managed by KKR. On 26 February 2026 Corel, then Parallels' parent, announced that Vector Capital would buy its creativity and productivity brands, including CorelDRAW, MindManager and WinZip, while Parallels stayed with KKR, according to Parallels' press release. The sale closed on 5 May 2026, and Corel relaunched as an independent company. Our DNS data still shows the old link: parallels.com, corel.com, winzip.com and mindmanager.com share one Parallels verification code.
Is Parallels Desktop free?
No, it's paid, with a free trial. Parallels' comparison page offers 14 days free, and its buy page lists Standard, Pro and Business editions as yearly subscriptions, with Standard also sold as a one-time purchase, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Enterprise Edition is priced by quote. The record we count belongs to business accounts in Parallels My Account, where a company admin sets up single sign-on; it doesn't show whether the subscription is current.
How much does Parallels Desktop cost?
On 16 October 2026 Parallels' buy page, shown to us in euros, listed Standard at 99.99 a year, Pro at 119.99 and Business at 149.99, each discounted that day to 54.99, 65.99 and 97.49. Business adds central licence management and Jamf and Intune deployment. Enterprise Edition, which adds SSO with SCIM provisioning, is priced through sales, and prices vary by region.
What is the parallels-domain-verification TXT record?
It's the DNS record Parallels My Account checks when a business account sets up single sign-on. Step 1 of the setup asks an admin to add the organisation's email domains, and Parallels verifies each one through a TXT record; a domain can belong to only one business account. Our crawl reads that record. It says nothing about the company's website.
Does a Parallels DNS record mean a company still uses Parallels?
Not with certainty. The record proves someone verified the domain for a Parallels business account, and nothing breaks if it stays after a subscription ends. It's very stable, though: 946 of the 947 domains we re-read still carried it on 16 October 2026, and only 6 domains have dropped it since we began tracking in March. Read it as accounts that once verified a domain, not as a count of current customers.
Can I run Windows 11 on a Mac with Parallels?
Yes. Parallels says Parallels Desktop is the only solution authorized by Microsoft to run Windows 11 on Apple M-series Macs, and all its editions run Windows, Linux and macOS virtual machines. Business and Enterprise add central licensing and deployment through Jamf or Intune. In our data, 255 of the 947 Parallels domains also carry Jamf's verification record.
