Companies Using Jellyfish
Jellyfish is the spam filter Namecheap built for its own customers, so the companies that use Jellyfish are, in practice, Namecheap shared-hosting customers. Namecheap points a domain's MX records at mx1-hosting.jellyfish.systems by default on its Shared Hosting plans, and nobody buys "Jellyfish" on its own: Namecheap's product page says it comes free with Shared Hosting, Private Email and Spacemail. Our October 2026 crawl finds 95,075 domains whose inbound mail runs through that gateway, among them namecheap.com itself, Ha-Meem Group, Adron Homes and Dairibord.
That figure leaves out 12,337 parked, for-sale and gambling pages and 828 copied-store domains, explained under How We Counted at the end of this page. On the cleaned count Jellyfish holds 12.38% of Email Security and ranks second of 12. The records are current: of 1,000 random domains we looked up on 15 October 2026, 940 still sent their mail to Jellyfish, and 652 served their website from Namecheap's own network. The owners are small and young. 66.74% of matched companies have 1 to 10 staff, and 80.35% were founded in 2010 or later.

Jellyfish Usage Statistics
One reading so far: 95,075 domains in October 2026, counted after the removals described at the end of this page. A single month can't show a trend, and later months won't be a same-domain series either: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. Exits we can count. 10,259 domains have dropped Jellyfish since our tracking began on 16 March 2026, and 203 of them still show it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use Jellyfish the Most?
Which countries use Jellyfish the most? The United States, with 9,615 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (2,977), Nigeria (2,926), India (2,351) and Pakistan (1,947). Group them and a different picture shows: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka hold 5,980, and Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt and Kenya hold 4,486, more than the US between them. That's an unusual map for email security, and it follows Namecheap's budget hosting customers rather than any security buying, based on our enriched company data.
Share of the 38,763 Jellyfish domains we matched to a company record — 40.8% of the 95,075 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Jellyfish Market Share Among Email Security
What is Jellyfish's market share? 12.38% of Email Security, second of the 12 technologies we track there, counting 95,075 domains at TechnologyChecker.io. The row above it is labelled Microsoft Defender, but the record that row reads, ppe-hosted.com, is the MX host of Proofpoint Essentials. Of the rows below, only MailChannels (67,894) is also a filter that a web host switches on for its customers.

Jellyfish Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Jellyfish? Mostly very small ones. 66.74% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 23.36% have 11 to 50, so 90.10% have 50 or fewer, out of 36,852 with a size on file. That's a shared-hosting base: one website, a few mailboxes, no IT department. 239 companies have more than 1,000 staff, among them Ha-Meem Group, the Bangladeshi clothing maker, and Ensign United States Drilling, the US arm of Ensign Energy Services.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
How old are companies that use Jellyfish? Young. 44.46% were founded in the 2010s and 35.89% in the 2020s, so 80.35% date from 2010 or later, out of 21,006 matched companies with a founding year. Only 3.39% were founded before 1990, where Barracuda's base is 43.55% pre-1990. A firm set up recently on a budget host takes the mail filter that comes with the plan.
What Industries Use Jellyfish the Most?
IT services and consulting leads at 6.93%, then advertising services (3.98%), business consulting (3.92%), technology and internet (3.55%) and software development (3.47%), based on our enriched company data. Those five add up to 21.85%, about one matched company in five working in web, IT or marketing. No other industry passes 2.7%, which fits a host whose customers are agencies, freelancers and small firms of every kind.
IT services firms using Jellyfish are the largest group at 6.93%, from one-person web shops to Vision Tech and Top Edge Technologies in Pakistan. Real estate companies on Jellyfish (2.68%) include the Nigerian developers Adron Homes, Brit Properties and Jomav Homes. Health organisations using Jellyfish include Fatima University Medical Center in the Philippines and the Lagos State Health Management Agency.
Jellyfish Alternatives & Competitors
The table ranks gateways by domains, but only one row is like for like. MailChannels (67,894 domains, 8.84%) is also a filter a web host turns on for its customers; most of its domains are DreamHost's. Mimecast (72,817), Barracuda (67,327) and Proofpoint (56,902) are gateways a company buys and points its own MX records at. Little moves between Jellyfish and those three: the only published switching flow is with MailChannels.

Jellyfish Customer Migration
Since March 2026, 28 domains moved their MX from MailChannels to Jellyfish, 9 of them in the last 30 days, and none went the other way. These are hosting moves rather than filter choices. 19 of the 28 now use Namecheap's hosting nameservers and 5 use Cloudflare's, so the owner moved the site and mailboxes to Namecheap and Jellyfish came with the plan. Only 1 of the 29 domains we have ever seen with both still runs both.

Tech Stack of Jellyfish-Powered Websites
Across the 95,075 clean domains our stack figures use, WordPress runs on 51.1% and Elementor on 23.77%, with Google Analytics on 28.85% and Cloudflare's browser analytics on 16.93%. Mail providers barely register: Google Workspace shows on 0.63% and Microsoft 365 on 0.41%. That's down to detection, since both signals read the MX record and on these domains the MX points at Jellyfish. Mailchimp, on 0.91%, is the most common email-marketing tool.

How We Counted Jellyfish Domains
A domain counts here when its MX record, the DNS entry that tells other servers where to deliver its mail, points at jellyfish.systems. That is Namecheap's filter: Namecheap's support guide says the Jellyfish MX records are configured in cPanel for all its Shared Hosting plans by default, and every Jellyfish MX in our 1,000-domain sample was one of those mx1, mx2 or mx3-hosting records. Private Email domains are filtered by Jellyfish too but point their MX at privateemail.com, so they aren't in this count. The website plays no part in the test.
Before computing anything we removed 13,165 domains: 12,337 whose latest page title marks them as parked, for sale or gambling (577 of them showing "Namecheap Parking Page"), and 828 expired domains serving copies of other shops' pages. Every chart and table here uses the remaining 95,075, and so does our Email Security category page.
Some of what remains has no real website. 2,436 domains show a bare "Index of /" listing and 719 an untouched "My Blog" WordPress install; their mail still runs through Jellyfish, so they stay. A gambling fringe also slipped past the title filter: about 1,195 titles (1.26%) match gambling terms, and 55 of 60 we sampled were betting or slot pages, many on lapsed business domains re-registered on Namecheap hosting. Of 204 domains that share a tracker from Oval or images from Medium, 49 carry gambling titles and 106 none. Neither group is big enough to move the figures on this page. The MX records themselves hold up: on 15 October 2026, 940 of 1,000 random domains still sent mail to Jellyfish.
Expert Analysis: Jellyfish Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I expected to write about a spam-filtering vendor. Jellyfish turned out to be a hosting default. Our October 2026 crawl finds 95,075 domains whose MX records send inbound mail to jellyfish.systems, and almost every one of them got it the same way: they bought shared hosting from Namecheap, and Namecheap set the records. 38,763 of those domains match a company, and that matched set is what the profile below describes.
A filter nobody chose
Namecheap built Jellyfish in-house. Its November 2021 launch release says a 2020 beta replaced the outside anti-spam provider it used before, and its product page says Jellyfish is free and enabled by default with Shared Hosting, Private Email and Spaceship's Spacemail. There's no price tag and no separate order. I checked whether the records reflect that: of 1,000 random domains on 15 October 2026, 940 still pointed their MX at Jellyfish, and 652 served their website from Namecheap's network, with another 239 behind Cloudflare, where we can't see the origin.
Sales signal: treat this list as a Namecheap shared-hosting list with working mailboxes. The owners didn't evaluate email security, so a pitch that assumes they did will miss.
One reading, and what it leaves out
The usage chart has a single point, October 2026, so there's no growth curve to read yet. Later months won't be a same-domain series either, because the domains we crawl change every month (dead sites out, new ones in) and our detection widens over time. Before cleaning, the count was about 108,000. We removed 12,337 parked, for-sale and gambling pages, 577 of them Namecheap's own parking page, and 828 expired domains serving copies of other shops. What stays includes 2,436 domains with only an "Index of /" listing. That's correct for an MX count: the website can be empty while the mailboxes work.
"Jellyfish has more domains than Mimecast, Barracuda or Proofpoint in our table, and almost none of its owners chose it. It arrived with a hosting plan." - Elif Arslan, CMO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: about 1.26% of the clean set still carries gambling-style titles, mostly lapsed business domains re-registered on Namecheap. Filter titles before you load a sequence.
Who the owners are
Small and young. 66.74% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 staff and 90.10% have 50 or fewer; 80.35% were founded in 2010 or later. Only 3.39% predate 1990. The geography is the surprise. The United States leads with 9,615 matched companies, but India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka together hold 5,980, and Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt and Kenya hold 4,486. The larger names fit that map: Ha-Meem Group and Al Karam Towel Industries in South Asia, Adron Homes, Dairibord and the Lagos Waste Management Authority in Africa. 239 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff; for them Jellyfish filters one domain's mailboxes, a narrower thing than a group-wide security decision.
Sales signal: this is one of the few email-security lists where South Asia and Africa are core markets, not a tail. Price and payment options matter more here than feature depth.
Industries: the web trade buys its own hosting
IT services leads at 6.93%, and with advertising, business consulting, technology and software development the top five reach 21.85%. No other industry passes 2.7%. That reads like agencies, freelancers and consultants who buy hosting themselves, plus a long tail of every kind of small business they build sites for.
Sales signal: the agency slice is the useful one. An agency that hosts client sites on Namecheap decides the mail setup for every client it builds for.
Switching: a hosting move with a filter attached
One switching flow passes our tests: 28 domains moved their MX from MailChannels to Jellyfish since March 2026, 9 of them in the last 30 days, and none went the other way. I looked at the 28. Nineteen now use Namecheap's hosting nameservers and five use Cloudflare's. These owners moved their site and mailboxes to Namecheap, and the filter changed because the host did. Exits tell the same story from the other side. 10,259 domains dropped Jellyfish since 16 March 2026; of the 10,056 that left on every hostname, only 224 now point their MX at Microsoft 365 and 113 at Google Workspace.
"When a domain leaves Jellyfish, it is almost never because the owner picked a better spam filter. The site moved, or the domain lapsed." - Elif Arslan, CMO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: win-back and displacement plays built on filter quality don't fit this list. Hosting migration offers do, and the 337 leavers now on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace show the upgrade path that does happen.
The stack around it
WordPress runs on 51.1% of clean domains and Elementor on 23.77%. Google Analytics is on only 28.85%, against 63.27% on Barracuda's domains, which fits owners who set a site up and leave it. Google Workspace (0.63%) and Microsoft 365 (0.41%) look tiny, but both of our signals read the MX record, and here the MX points at Jellyfish, so they can't show.
Sales signal: WordPress plugins, site care and managed WordPress offers match this base far better than an enterprise mail product.
What Namecheap says, and what we see
Namecheap's Jellyfish page claims 5M users protected. We count 95,075 domains. Both can be right: users are mailboxes, and Private Email domains, which Jellyfish also filters, point their MX at privateemail.com and sit outside this count. On Namecheap's own profile those MX records are counted under hosting. The category table's top row needs a similar caveat: it's labelled Microsoft Defender but reads ppe-hosted.com, which Proofpoint's Essentials setup guide lists as its MX host.
Sales signal: size Namecheap's mail footprint from both signals, Jellyfish MX for hosting and privateemail.com for paid mailboxes, before you quote a number to anyone.

How to use this list
Filter out gambling titles and empty sites first, then segment by country and by agency versus end business. Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Jellyfish?
Namecheap's shared-hosting customers. Jellyfish is the spam filter Namecheap switches on by default for those plans, and our October 2026 crawl finds 95,075 domains whose MX records point at it. Most owners are small: 66.74% of matched companies have 1 to 10 staff. Recognisable names include Namecheap itself, Ha-Meem Group, Adron Homes, Dairibord and the Lagos Waste Management Authority.
How many customers does Jellyfish have?
Our crawl counts 95,075 live domains whose mail runs through Jellyfish, after removing 12,337 parked, for-sale and gambling pages and 828 copied-store domains; 38,763 of them match a company. Namecheap's Jellyfish page says it protects 5M users, which counts mailboxes rather than domains. Since March 2026, 10,259 domains have dropped Jellyfish.
What is Jellyfish's market share?
12.38% of Email Security, second of the 12 technologies we track, on 95,075 domains. The top row is labelled Microsoft Defender, but it reads ppe-hosted.com, Proofpoint Essentials' MX host. Below Jellyfish, only MailChannels (67,894) is another filter that web hosts switch on for customers.
What are the best alternatives to Jellyfish?
It depends on why you're leaving. A Namecheap customer moving mail to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace relies on that provider's filtering instead, and 337 domains that dropped Jellyfish since March now point there. A company wanting a separate gateway looks at Mimecast (72,817 domains in our crawl), Barracuda (67,327) or Proofpoint (56,902). MailChannels (67,894) is the equivalent host-level filter.
Which countries use Jellyfish the most?
The United States leads with 9,615 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (2,977), Nigeria (2,926), India (2,351) and Pakistan (1,947). Grouped, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka hold 5,980 and Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt and Kenya 4,486, more than the US together. That's an unusual mix for email security, and it follows Namecheap's hosting customers.
What size companies use Jellyfish?
Mostly very small ones. Of the 36,852 matched companies with a known size, 66.74% have 1 to 10 employees and 23.36% have 11 to 50, so 90.10% have 50 or fewer. 239 have more than 1,000 staff, including Ha-Meem Group and Ensign United States Drilling. For them Jellyfish filters one domain's mailboxes, not the whole company.
How old are companies that use Jellyfish?
Young. Of matched companies with a founding year, 44.46% were founded in the 2010s and 35.89% in the 2020s, so 80.35% date from 2010 or later. Only 3.39% were founded before 1990, against 43.55% on our Barracuda page. New, small firms on budget hosting take the filter that comes with the plan, and that's what Jellyfish is.

What is the jellyfish system?
Jellyfish is Namecheap's in-house spam filter, a machine-learning tool that checks incoming mail for spam, phishing, malware and spoofing and lets users manage blocklists and rules. Namecheap launched it publicly in November 2021 after a 2020 beta that replaced an outside anti-spam provider. The jellyfish.systems domain runs its mail servers, which is why it appears in MX records.
Is Jellyfish free?
Yes for Namecheap customers, and it isn't sold separately. Namecheap's Jellyfish page (checked 29 October 2026) says it comes free and switched on with Shared Hosting, Private Email and Spaceship's Spacemail. Namecheap's Shared Hosting page (checked 29 October 2026) lists its entry Stellar plan at $2.28 a month after a 30-day free trial. Namecheap's support guide says Jellyfish MX records are set in cPanel by default.
Does Jellyfish filter Namecheap Private Email too?
Yes, but this page doesn't count those domains. Namecheap says Private Email plans come with Jellyfish, yet Private Email domains point their MX at privateemail.com. Our rule reads only jellyfish.systems, and every Jellyfish MX in our 1,000-domain sample was one of the mx1, mx2 or mx3-hosting records used on shared hosting. So the 95,075 is almost entirely a shared-hosting count.
How does TechnologyChecker.io detect Jellyfish?
From DNS, not the website. A domain counts when its MX record points at jellyfish.systems, meaning inbound mail passes through Namecheap's filter before reaching the mailbox. We looked up 1,000 random domains on 15 October 2026: 940 still did, 25 no longer resolved and 35 had no MX, another provider or no answer. A parked site can still have working Jellyfish mail.
Why do domains drop Jellyfish?
Few leave for a named alternative. Of the 10,056 domains that dropped Jellyfish on every hostname since March 2026, 224 now point their MX at Microsoft 365 and 113 at Google Workspace. The only rival with a published switching flow, MailChannels, runs the other way: 28 domains moved from it to Jellyfish, mostly by moving their hosting to Namecheap.
Can I use Namecheap with Gmail?
Yes. A Namecheap-hosted domain can send its mail to Google Workspace by replacing the Jellyfish MX records with Google's, and Jellyfish then stops filtering that domain. In our data, 113 domains that dropped Jellyfish since March 2026 now point their MX at Google Workspace, and 0.63% of current Jellyfish domains list a Google MX alongside it.
