The companies using Namecheap below are therefore companies whose email routes through Namecheap, and every count, share and chart on this page inherits that definition.
This page sits in Web Hosting and was previously published as Namecheap Hosting, so it needs saying plainly: a mail exchange record cannot tell you who hosts a website. Mail routing and web serving are separate settings on the same domain and each points wherever its owner sends it. The tech stack table settles the question. 63,136 of these domains, 25.36%, run Shopify, which serves the storefront itself, and 147,112, 59.10%, sit behind Cloudflare. Namecheap Usage Statistics
How has Namecheap usage changed over time? The series reads 164,048 active domains in June 2026, 235,601 in July, 236,710 in August and 245,121 in September. None of that is adoption. The June to July step alone is 43.6% in a single month, which no mail provider achieves and which nothing about Namecheap needs to explain: our crawled corpus expanded sharply across that window, so a rule that had always matched these domains simply began to see more of them. This chart covers the current crawl window only.
The pair of lines is more informative than either one alone. Total domains seen carrying the record ran 164,422 in June and 259,259 in September while the active line reached 245,121, so the gap between them widened from 374 domains to 14,138. That gap is the part of the signal that has stopped resolving, and on a mail exchange rule it means something, because an MX record is live configuration rather than a token left behind in a zone file. The September figure, 245,121, is the one quoted at the top of this page.

Read the domains rather than the names. oe.cd, den.health, nipsea.group, udh.sa, fpttelecom.site, localauthority.news, workfromhomejobs.ad: short domains on newer top-level domains, which is exactly the inventory a discount registrar sells. These are secondary domains rather than the apexes those organisations publish their main sites on, and what we matched is the mail configuration of the secondary domain. That does not make a row wrong, it makes it narrow. A well-known name here means one of its side domains routes mail through Namecheap, which is a much smaller claim than the name on its own suggests.

One MX record, and what it counts
Namecheap is on this site because of a single clause. We match a mail exchange record pointing at registrar-servers.com or privateemail.com, and nothing else. There is no script to find, no HTTP header to read, no page that has to render. That makes the rule unusually robust, because DNS is answered by a resolver and no consent banner, bot wall or login screen stands between us and it. Before anyone quotes the 245,121, it is worth being exact about what a robust rule is robust about, because the answer is not Namecheap customers and it is certainly not sites Namecheap hosts.
An MX record names the servers that accept mail for a domain. When it points at Namecheap's registrar mail or Private Email hosts, somebody with access to that domain's DNS decided that Namecheap should carry its email. That is the whole claim. It says nothing about where the website lives, nothing about how many mailboxes are in use, and nothing about how much anyone pays. The population is domains with a Namecheap mail relationship, and 245,121 is a count of domains rather than of accounts, customers or seats.

Put plainly, a quarter of this list is demonstrably hosted by somebody else. There is no way to read that table and still treat 245,121 as a hosting number. What we can say honestly is that these are domains Namecheap has a relationship with, most likely as registrar and mail provider, and that some unknown share of them also buy hosting. We cannot size that share, and neither better crawling nor a bigger corpus would help, because hosting leaves its evidence somewhere this rule never looks.

Only 170 companies, 0.32%, are above a thousand staff. The age table agrees: 13,452 of the 28,017 companies with a founding year, 48.01%, were founded in the 2020s, and 24,536, 87.58%, were founded since 2010. These are short, cheap, newer-gTLD names, which is the registrar's core inventory, and they are secondary domains rather than the apexes those organisations are known by.
