Companies Using Detectify
Our October 2026 crawl finds 5,234 domains carrying a Detectify verification record, after we set aside 251 that an agency or website platform verified for its clients. Detectify, founded in Stockholm in 2013, tests websites and their subdomains for vulnerabilities, and it won't attack a domain until the owner proves control, usually with a DNS record. So the count is organisations that verified a domain for Detectify scanning at least once, not a live tally of customers. Below is the list of companies that use Detectify; HubSpot, Canva, Seagate, Forbes, Swedbank and the Swedish Tax Agency are on it.
Detectify ranks 4th of 17 in Security Testing & Compliance with a 4.09% share on the cleaned count. Its base is small software and IT firms, 82.3% of them with 200 staff or fewer, with a Swedish home market: Sweden has 283 matched companies, third after the US and UK. How we removed the agency-held domains is explained at the end of this page.

Detectify Usage Statistics
One point: 5,234 live domains in October 2026, counted without the 251 agency- and platform-verified domains described at the end of this page. We chart only October because the cleaned count exists for the current crawl alone; the set of domains we crawl also turns over every month, with dead sites leaving and new ones added, and our DNS detection has widened over time, so earlier months wouldn't compare. Exits we can count: 91 domains dropped the record since we began tracking removals on 16 March 2026, and 10 of them still carry it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use Detectify the Most?
Which countries use Detectify the most? The United States leads with 1,194 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (488) and Sweden (283), Detectify's home market, ahead of Australia (229), France (201) and Germany (171). Add Norway (56), Finland (47) and Denmark (47) and the Nordic countries reach 433. The figures exclude 48 Swedish car-dealer sites verified under Bytbil's account, which our cut removed.
Share of the 4,090 Detectify domains we matched to a company record — 78.1% of the 5,234 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Detectify Market Share Among Security Testing & Compliance
What is Detectify's market share? On the cleaned count, 4.09% of Security Testing & Compliance, 4th of 17 technologies, on 5,234 domains, based on our crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. Our category table uses the same cleaned count, so both pages show 5,234 domains and 4th place. KnowBe4 (49.18%), eNamad and Have I Been Pwned (14.38%) are above it. The share isn't a scanner league table: KnowBe4 is staff training, eNamad a website seal, and the scanners Detectify competes with have no DNS signal we track.

Detectify Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Detectify? Mostly small ones. 34.83% of matched companies with a known size have 11 to 50 staff, 24.42% have 1 to 10 and 23.05% have 51 to 200, so 82.3% have 200 or fewer. Only 237 of 4,017 (5.9%) have more than 1,000. Larger names such as HubSpot, Seagate and PostNord are the exception, not the pattern.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The base is young. 46.6% of matched companies were founded in the 2010s and 12.4% in the 2020s, so 59% started in 2010 or later. The 2000s add 19%. Older organisations are a small tail (4.95% before 1960), led by public bodies and old firms such as Swedbank (1820) and Savills (1855).
What Industries Use Detectify the Most?
Software Development leads at 17.05%, then IT Services and IT Consulting (10.54%), Technology, Information and Internet (7.22%) and Financial Services (6.31%), based on our enriched company data. With Information Technology & Services (2.43%) the technology rows add up to 37.24%. That's the profile of companies that ship web applications and want them tested before someone else does.
Software companies using Detectify include HubSpot, Canva, Toast, Box and Depop. Swedish public bodies on Detectify are a group of their own: the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), the Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen), Stockholm University and Kungsbacka municipality. Financial firms using Detectify include Swedbank, which verified six country domains under one code, and St. James's Place.
Detectify Alternatives & Competitors
None of the four rows in this table is a website scanner. KnowBe4 (49.18%) is phishing training, Have I Been Pwned (14.38%) is breach search and Wiz (2.12%) is cloud security, though all are counted from DNS verification records as Detectify is. AbuseIPDB (2.06%) is an IP-abuse database. Detectify's direct rivals, such as Intruder and HostedScan, which both publish Detectify comparisons, aren't in our category table. The overlap that matters: 144 Detectify domains also run KnowBe4.

How We Counted Detectify Customers
A domain counts here if its DNS has a TXT record containing detectify-verification, the code Detectify asks a domain's owner to publish before it will scan the domain. Our crawl found 5,500 live domains with it. We removed 15 whose page title marked them as for-sale or gambling pages.
We then removed 251 domains verified under somebody else's Detectify account. Detectify's code identifies the account, so when one code sits on many unrelated sites run by one operator, the operator holds the account, not the sites. Bytbil's code covered 48 Swedish car-dealer sites built on its platform, Go Sitebuilder's 23 small-business sites, Pictrs' 19 photographers' shops, Action Network's 15 campaign groups and Pixel Army's 14 client sites; one Sri Lankan IT provider covered 14, and 28 smaller codes held by agencies and web hosts covered the other 118. We kept the account holders' own domains, such as bytbil.com and pictrs.com, because they did verify with Detectify. We found these codes by reading the TXT record of every domain on 15 October 2026.
Every chart and table on this page uses the remaining 5,234. Our Security Testing & Compliance category table uses this cleaned count too, so it lists Detectify 4th with 5,234 domains and 4.09%. Because the cleaned count exists only for the current crawl, the usage chart shows October 2026 alone.
Expert Analysis: Detectify Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Every domain in our index gets a DNS lookup before we load a page, and Detectify is one of the signals that lookup finds. A domain counts when a TXT record contains detectify-verification. Our October 2026 crawl puts that at 5,234 domains once agency-held ones are removed, 4,090 matched to a company, 4th of 17 in Security Testing & Compliance. When I re-read their DNS on 15 October, 5,187 still carried the record. So the record is real. The question I had to answer first was whose it is.
What the record proves
Detectify runs attack payloads against websites, so it makes you prove you may test a domain first. Its support pages say the tests will most likely reveal sensitive information, and its docs say each root domain is verified once and covers its subdomains. A file in a /.well-known path or a meta tag works too, and those domains don't appear in our count. Nothing removes the DNS record when a contract ends.
Sales signal: a Detectify record means someone authorised outside security testing of that domain at least once. That's a stronger buying signal than a newsletter sign-up, and a weaker one than a renewal.
Whose account is it?
Detectify's code is per account, so one code on many domains is one account. Most shared codes are company groups: the Strawberry hotel group verified 41 hotel, spa and venue domains under one code, eXp Realty 24 domains, Alma Media 14 Finnish media and marketplace sites and Swedbank 6 country domains.
Some shared codes belonged to someone else, and we took those out. Bytbil, the Swedish car-listings company, had verified 48 dealer websites built on its platform. Go Sitebuilder, a small-business site builder, covered 23 sites and Pictrs, a shop platform for photographers, 19. Fifteen campaign groups, MoveOn and the AFL-CIO among them, shared one code with Action Network, the campaigning-tools provider. Web agencies and IT providers in Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sri Lanka did the same on a smaller scale. Across 34 codes that came to 251 domains, 4.56% of the raw 5,500, now excluded. On the cleaned 5,234, 4,506 codes remain and 3,989 sit on a single domain.
"A Bytbil car dealer didn't sign up for Detectify. Bytbil did, for 48 dealers at once. Read the code before you read the domain." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: agencies and site platforms that verify client domains already run scanning for their clients. They're the better target for a scanning vendor; their client sites are poor leads for anyone else, which is why they're not on this list.
One month, steady exits
The usage chart has a single October point, because the cleaned count only exists for the current crawl; earlier months also wouldn't compare, since the domains we crawl turn over every month and our DNS detection has widened. Exits are rare: 91 domains dropped the record since 16 March 2026, 10 of them still carry it on another hostname, and when I re-checked the dropped hostnames, 68 of 91 had removed it.
Sales signal: don't pitch Detectify's base as a fast-growing market. It's a stable pool of about 5,000 domains whose owners rarely clean up.
Small software companies
The base is the opposite of Wiz's. 82.3% of matched companies with a known size have 200 staff or fewer, and the biggest band is 11 to 50 (34.83%). Only 5.9% pass 1,000. They're young too: 59% were founded in 2010 or later. Software Development (17.05%), IT Services (10.54%) and Technology, Information and Internet (7.22%) lead the industries. HubSpot, Canva, Seagate and Forbes are the large names; Toast, Box, Depop and QuintoAndar are typical of the software core.
Sales signal: these are product teams without a big security department. Pitch tools that save them headcount, such as automated fixes, managed pentests or compliance evidence, rather than another dashboard.
A Swedish home market
The United States has 1,194 matched companies and the United Kingdom 488. Sweden is third with 283, about one Swedish company for every four American ones, and Norway (56), Finland (47) and Denmark (47) take the Nordic total to 433. The Swedish list includes public bodies, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Public Employment Service, Stockholm University and Kungsbacka municipality, alongside Swedbank and PostNord.
Sales signal: for a Nordic security or compliance pitch, Detectify's Swedish list is a qualified start, now without Bytbil's dealer sites inflating it.
Overlap, not switching
We publish no migration table for Detectify. The largest overlap our checks found is with KnowBe4: 144 domains run both today, out of 150 ever seen with both. KnowBe4 trains staff against phishing and Detectify tests websites, so this is a company buying two layers of security, not swapping one for the other.
"144 Detectify domains also carry KnowBe4's record. Same security budget, different problem." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: the companies with both records have already taken security steps in more than one place. They're a short list for a third layer such as identity, backup or managed detection.
The stack around it
On the 5,234 domains, Cloudflare runs on 60.64%, Google Analytics on 68.23% and WordPress on 32.31%, with Webflow at 8.08%. Consent banners are split between Cookie Control (8.92%), Cookiebot (8.58%), OneTrust (6.46%) and CookieYes (6.44%). 1Password's verification record is on 3.88%, against 10.5% on Wiz's page.
Sales signal: the marketing site is usually WordPress or Webflow behind Cloudflare. Agencies that sell secure hosting or site maintenance will find their buyer here.
What it costs
Detectify's pricing page lists an annual platform fee: Starter from €0, Standard from €2,500, Professional from €5,000 and Enterprise from €15,000, with Surface Monitoring charged per domain and Application Scanning per target. PCI ASV scanning is €500 a year and non-profits get 30% off.
Sales signal: per-domain pricing punishes sprawl. Companies with many brands or country sites are the ones most likely to review the bill.
Key takeaways
1. 5,234 domains in October 2026, 4th of 17 at 4.09%; each verified a domain for Detectify scanning at least once.
2. 251 agency- and platform-held domains removed, led by Bytbil's 48 car dealers.
3. 82.3% of matched companies have 200 staff or fewer; 59% were founded after 2009.
4. Sweden is third by country with 283 matched companies.
5. 144 domains also run KnowBe4, an overlap rather than a switch.
How to use this list
Group rows by verification code and treat each as a past authorisation. Our DNS statistics report explains why we read TXT records as history. The full list of 5,234 domains, with 4,090 matched companies and their size, country and industry, is on TechnologyChecker.io.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Detectify?
Mostly small software and IT companies, with a strong Swedish contingent. Our October 2026 crawl finds the Detectify verification record on 5,234 domains after removing agency-held ones, 4,090 matched to a company, and 82.3% of those have 200 staff or fewer. Named users include HubSpot, Canva, Seagate, Forbes, Toast, Box and Depop, plus Swedbank and the Swedish Tax Agency.
How many customers does Detectify have?
We count 5,234 domains with a Detectify verification record in October 2026, not customers. When we re-read their DNS on 15 October, 5,187 carried 4,506 different codes, and Detectify's code is per account, so accounts are fewer than domains. Old records also stay after a subscription ends, so read 5,234 as an upper bound on current customers' domains, not a customer count. Detectify itself says it is trusted by more than 2,100 organisations, under half our 4,506 codes, and its Starter plan and two-week trial cost nothing, so many codes belong to free or lapsed accounts.
What is Detectify's market share?
On our cleaned count Detectify holds 4.09% of Security Testing & Compliance at TechnologyChecker.io, 4th of the 17 technologies we track, on 5,234 domains. KnowBe4, eNamad and Have I Been Pwned rank above it. The table mixes phishing training, breach search, website seals and cloud security, and Detectify's scanning rivals aren't in it, so treat the share as context.
What are the best alternatives to Detectify?
For external scanning and attack-surface monitoring, buyers compare Detectify with tools such as Intruder, HostedScan, Pentest-Tools.com and Escape, all of which publish Detectify comparison pages. None of them leaves a DNS signal in our category table, so we can't size them here. The rows that do sit beside Detectify, such as KnowBe4 (on 144 Detectify domains), solve different problems.
Which countries use Detectify the most?
The United States, with 1,194 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (488) and Sweden (283), Detectify's home market. Australia (229), France (201), Germany (171) and Canada (166) follow, and the Nordic countries together reach 433. These counts already leave out the 48 Swedish car-dealer sites that Bytbil verified under its own Detectify account.
What size companies use Detectify?
Small ones, mostly. Of matched companies with a known size, 34.83% have 11 to 50 employees, 24.42% have 1 to 10 and 23.05% have 51 to 200, so 82.3% have 200 or fewer. Only 5.9% (237 of 4,017) have more than 1,000. That fits Detectify's pricing, whose Starter plan begins at €0 and Standard at €2,500 a year.
How old are companies that use Detectify?
Young. 46.6% of matched companies with a known founding year started in the 2010s and 12.4% in the 2020s, so 59% were founded in 2010 or later. The 2000s add 19%. Only 4.95% predate 1960, a tail that includes Swedbank (1820), Savills (1855) and Auburn University (1856). Expect software firms and online services rather than old industrials.
What is the ideal customer profile for Detectify?
On our data: a software or IT company with 11 to 50 staff, founded in the 2010s, based in the US, UK or Sweden, running a WordPress or Webflow marketing site behind Cloudflare (60.64%). It ships web applications and wants outside testing without a large security team. Agencies that look after many client sites are a separate buyer, removed from this count.
What is Detectify used for?
Detectify tests internet-facing websites, applications and APIs for vulnerabilities, and maps an organisation's domains and subdomains to find exposed assets. Its pricing page lists Surface Monitoring, Application Scanning, API Scanning, Internal Scanning and PCI ASV scanning. Because its scans run real attack payloads, it asks you to verify each root domain first, which is the DNS record our crawl detects.
Is Detectify legit?
Yes. Detectify is a Swedish security company founded in Stockholm in 2013 by a group of ethical hackers, and it says it has more than 60 employees. Its scanners use research from its crowdsourced hacker community. On our crawl, 5,234 domains have verified with it, including HubSpot, Canva, Seagate and Swedbank.
How much does Detectify cost?
Detectify charges an annual platform fee plus a cost per asset. Its pricing page lists Starter from €0 (up to 5 users), Standard from €2,500, Professional from €5,000 and Enterprise from €15,000 a year. Surface Monitoring adds a cost per domain and Application Scanning a cost per target; PCI ASV scanning is €500 a year. Non-profits get 30% off. Checked 15 October 2026.
Why does Detectify require domain verification?
Because its scans are real attacks. Detectify says its tests will most likely reveal sensitive information, so it asks you to verify that you're allowed to test a domain. You add a detectify-verification TXT record, upload a file to a /.well-known path or add a meta tag; one verified root domain covers its subdomains. That record is what our crawl detects, so file- and meta-tag-verified domains are missing from our count.
Can an agency verify domains for its clients in Detectify?
Yes, and it shows in DNS. One Detectify code covered 48 Swedish car-dealer sites built on Bytbil's platform, another 23 small sites on Go Sitebuilder and another 19 photographers' sites on Pictrs. Across 34 such codes we found 251 domains, 4.56% of the raw count, where the account belongs to an agency or platform. We removed them from every figure here.
