Companies Using osTicket
Our October 2026 crawl finds osTicket on 1,337 live domains. osTicket is the free, open-source ticketing system from Enhancesoft, and nearly every install we see is self-hosted: on 1,310 of the 1,382 domains behind this page's charts, it answers on a subdomain such as support., helpdesk. or soporte., next to the organisation's main website. Below is the list of companies that use osTicket, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes the University of the Philippines, Çukurova University, Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Migori County in Kenya.
The count holds up well. osTicket sets its own session cookie, OSTSESSID, and when we fetched every domain on 15 October, 1,331 of the 1,382 (96.31%) still served an osTicket page or that cookie. The buyers are mostly small technology firms: IT services and software companies make up 50.28% of matched companies, and 51.03% have 10 or fewer staff. osTicket ranks 9th of the 49 tools in Help Desk with 0.71%, but that table also holds status pages and bug-report widgets, so the fairer comparison is with Zammad (553 domains) and Freshdesk (5,487).

osTicket Usage Statistics
osTicket reads 271 domains in June 2026, 359 in July, 1,065 in August, 1,334 in September and 1,337 in October. The step between July and August reflects changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we detect osTicket with, rather than a wave of new help desks: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month as dead sites drop out and new ones are added, and our detection widened over the summer. September to October is flat. Since we began tracking osTicket in March 2026, 29 domains have dropped it, and 2 of those still run it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use osTicket the Most?
Which countries use osTicket the most? The United States, with 152 matched companies, then Germany (80), Italy (68), the United Kingdom (58) and India (55). So only about 15% of the 1,012 matched companies are in the US. Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries add up to more: 166 across Brazil (45), Spain (45), Colombia (30), Mexico (27) and Portugal (19). The hostnames tell the same story, with soporte. on 104 domains and suporte. on 36, based on our enriched company data.
Share of the 1,012 osTicket domains we matched to a company record — 75.7% of the 1,337 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
osTicket Market Share Among Help Desk
What is osTicket's market share? 0.71% of Help Desk, 9th of the 49 tools we track there, on 1,337 domains, measured at TechnologyChecker.io. That table isn't only ticketing systems. It also holds status pages such as Atlassian Statuspage (7,212) and website-feedback widgets such as BugHerd (9,241), so the share understates osTicket's place among help desks. Among the ticketing systems in it, osTicket trails Freshdesk (5,487) and Freshworks (1,456), and it is the largest of the self-hosted ones: Zammad has 553 domains, GLPI 499, Hesk, which is free but not open source, 62, and OTRS, whose open-source edition ended in 2021, 39.

osTicket Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use osTicket? Mostly small ones. 51.03% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 31.83% have 11 to 50, so 82.86% have 50 staff or fewer. The big names at the top of our list are mostly universities running osTicket for IT and student support. 21 matched organisations have more than 1,000 staff, including the University of the Philippines and Çukurova University.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (37.7%), then the 2000s (30.13%) and the 1990s (14.56%). Only 6.99% date from the 2020s. Together with the low churn, that reads like a help desk chosen years ago and left running.
What Industries Use osTicket the Most?
IT Services and IT Consulting leads at 27.52%. Add Software Development (9.97%), Information Technology & Services (6.61%) and Technology, Information and Internet (6.18%), and technology companies make up 50.28% of matched companies, based on our enriched company data. Higher Education is next at 4.98%, then Telecommunications at 4.66%. Outside technology, no industry reaches 5%.
Technology companies using osTicket include Andes Technology, the Taiwanese semiconductor company, on its e-Service portal. Universities using osTicket include Dow University of Health Sciences, Visayas State University and Kabale University, mostly for IT support. Public bodies on osTicket use it for complaints as well as IT: Migori County in Kenya runs its grievance portal on it.
osTicket Alternatives & Competitors
Two of the four tools in this comparison are help desks. Freshdesk (2.93%) is the hosted option, and Zammad (0.3%, 553 domains) is the like-for-like one: open source and self-hosted, and the name most "osTicket alternatives" lists put near the top. The other two aren't ticketing systems. Atlassian Statuspage (3.86%) publishes uptime pages and BugHerd (4.94%) collects website feedback; they appear because they sit in our Help Desk table. For scale, the Zendesk profile counts 113,696 domains in September 2026.

Tech Stack of osTicket-Powered Websites
Across the 1,382 live osTicket domains we pulled for this page, WordPress runs on 50.72% and Google Analytics on 49.2%. Those sit on the organisation's main website, not on the help desk: osTicket lives on its own subdomain, so the stack mostly describes the site next door. Elementor (18.89%), Joomla (5.28%) and Divi (4.63%) fill out the builders. Chat is rare: WhatsApp Business Chat is on 5.72% and Tawk.to on 4.56%, so most of these teams take support by ticket and email.

Expert Analysis: osTicket Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I expected osTicket to be a list of abandoned installs, because a self-hosted help desk that nobody patches tends to stop answering. So before writing anything I fetched every domain in our October 2026 crawl. A domain counts here when a hostname on it sets osTicket's session cookie, OSTSESSID, which only osTicket writes. Of the 1,382 live domains behind this page, 1,331 (96.31%) still served an osTicket page or that cookie on 15 October; 55 of them only answered a request from a US address. Our headline is 1,337 domains, 1,012 of them matched to a company, 9th of 49 in Help Desk.
One install, one subdomain
osTicket has no shared account, no agency key and no hosted network in this count, so the usual question on these pages, whose account is it, has a simple answer. On 1,310 of the 1,382 domains (94.79%) it runs on a subdomain of its own: support. on 563 domains, helpdesk. on 142, soporte. on 104 and ticket. on 88. The other 72 run it on the root or www. Page titles are almost all different, from "ICT Support Team" at the University of the Philippines to "Paid Support Helpdesk" at a file-format software maker; apart from blank ones, the most repeated is osTicket's own default, on 7 domains. Enhancesoft sells a hosted version, SupportSystem, but none of the hostnames we resolved points at it, so this is a list of self-hosted installs.
Sales signal: each row is one organisation's own server. The person who looks after it is most likely in IT rather than customer service, and that's who to reach.
Flat since September
The chart reads 271 domains in June, 359 in July, 1,065 in August, 1,334 in September and 1,337 in October. I wouldn't read the August step as adoption. It reflects changes on our side: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widened over the summer. What the data does show is low churn. Since we began tracking osTicket in March 2026, 29 domains have dropped it, and 2 of those still run it on another hostname.
"I went looking for abandoned servers and found working help desks. Twenty-nine drops in seven months, on a base of 1,382, is a product people keep." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: don't pitch a replacement on the assumption these desks are dying. The better opening is what a self-hosted install lacks, such as chat, managed upgrades or reporting.
Small IT firms, with universities on top
51.03% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 31.83% have 11 to 50. By industry, IT Services and IT Consulting alone is 27.52%, and the four technology industries together are 50.28%. Our company list looks different because it is sorted by LinkedIn audience, which pushes universities to the top: the University of the Philippines, Çukurova University, Dow University of Health Sciences. 21 matched organisations have more than 1,000 staff, most of them universities. The founding years lean older, with 37.7% from the 2010s, 30.13% from the 2000s and only 6.99% from the 2020s. osTicket publishes no customer list to check these against. Its FAQ says it has no relationship with the organisations using the software, which fits a free download.
Sales signal: two buyer types sit on this list. Small IT and hosting firms most likely point their own clients at it; universities and school districts use it for staff and student IT support. Write to them separately.
Spanish, Portuguese and German
Only about 15% of the 1,012 matched companies are in the United States (152). Germany has 80, Italy 68, the United Kingdom 58 and India 55. The bigger group is Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking: Brazil (45), Spain (45), Colombia (30), Mexico (27) and Portugal (19) add up to 166, more than the US. The hostnames say the same, with soporte. and suporte. among the most common labels. A smaller pattern stands out too: at least 17 domains run osTicket as a complaints or grievance channel, such as a Peruvian university's "Libro de Reclamaciones", Brazilian ombudsman (ouvidoria) desks and Migori County's grievance portal in Kenya.
Sales signal: a vendor selling help desk add-ons or migration services in Spanish and Portuguese will find more of this list reachable than an English-only one.
Who leaves, and for what
We don't publish a switching corridor for osTicket: the 29 domains that dropped it since March are too few to show one. The like-for-like alternative is Zammad, also open source and usually self-hosted, on 553 domains to osTicket's 1,337. The hosted options are much bigger: Freshdesk has 5,487 domains in our Help Desk table, and Zendesk's profile counts 113,696.
"The likeliest threat to an osTicket desk is the day someone decides they're done running a server for it." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: hosted help desks should lead on the time self-hosting takes, PHP upgrades and security patches included. SupportSystem, osTicket's own hosted edition, is the low-friction move for teams that want to keep the same software.
The stack next door
The tech stack on this page describes the organisation's main website, because osTicket sits on its own subdomain. WordPress runs on 50.72% of the 1,382 domains and Google Analytics on 49.2%. Elementor is on 18.89% and Joomla on 5.28%. Chat is rare: WhatsApp Business Chat is on 5.72% and Tawk.to on 4.56%. Consent banners are thin too, with CookieYes on 4.34% and Complianz on 3.98%.
Sales signal: these teams take support by email and ticket. Live chat and self-service tools have an open field here, and the WordPress main site is where they'd go.
What it costs
osTicket's FAQ (15 October 2026) calls it 100% free open-source software under the GPL. Enhancesoft earns from hosting, professional services and commercial support. SupportSystem, the hosted osTicket, costs $12 per agent a month on Basic, $16 on Standard and $24 on Premium, with a 30-day free trial. The current release is v1.18.4 from June 2026.
Sales signal: per-agent pricing is the comparison these buyers will make. A team with five agents pays $60 a month for hosted osTicket on Basic, and nothing to run it themselves.
Key takeaways
1. 1,337 live domains, and 96.31% of the 1,382 we fetched still served osTicket.
2. Almost every install sits on its own subdomain, usually support. or helpdesk.
3. Small technology firms make up most of the base; universities make up most of the big names.
4. Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries hold more matched companies (166) than the United States (152).
5. Low churn: 29 domains dropped it in seven months.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses osTicket?
Mostly small IT and software firms, plus universities, schools and public bodies that run their own servers. Our October 2026 crawl finds osTicket on 1,337 live domains. 50.28% of matched companies are technology businesses and 51.03% have 10 or fewer staff. Named users include the University of the Philippines, Çukurova University, Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Migori County in Kenya.
How many customers does osTicket have?
We count 1,337 live domains in October 2026, 1,012 of them matched to a company. That's a count of self-hosted installs we can reach, so treat it as a floor: help desks on internal networks are invisible to a crawl, and so are hosted SupportSystem desks on SupportSystem's own subdomains. 29 domains have dropped osTicket since March 2026.
What is osTicket's market share?
0.71% of Help Desk, 9th of the 49 tools we track there, on 1,337 domains. The share looks small because that table also counts status pages and website-feedback widgets. Among ticketing systems, osTicket trails Freshdesk (5,487) and Freshworks (1,456) and leads the open-source, self-hosted ones, ahead of Zammad (553) and GLPI (499).
What are the best alternatives to osTicket?
If you want to stay open source and self-hosted, Zammad (553 domains in our table) and GLPI (499) are the closest, and Hesk, free to run but not open source, is smaller at 62. If you'd rather stop running a server, Freshdesk (5,487) and Zendesk, whose profile counts 113,696 domains, are hosted. Enhancesoft's own SupportSystem is hosted osTicket, from $12 per agent a month.
Which countries use osTicket the most?
The United States, with 152 matched companies, then Germany (80), Italy (68), the United Kingdom (58) and India (55). The US is only about 15% of the 1,012 matched companies. Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries add up to 166, across Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Mexico and Portugal, and soporte. is the third most common osTicket hostname.
What size companies use osTicket?
Mostly small ones. 51.03% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 31.83% have 11 to 50, so 82.86% have 50 staff or fewer. 21 matched organisations have more than 1,000 staff, and most of those are universities, such as the University of the Philippines and Çukurova University, running osTicket for IT support.
How old are companies that use osTicket?
Among the osTicket domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (37.7%), followed by the 2000s (30.13%).
