Companies Using Sentry

With 10+ years in web crawling and technographic data analysis, I have examined Sentry's footprint across our full corpus. This analysis draws on 1,267,456 enriched company profiles matched to LinkedIn data, combined with switching corridors, tech stack overlap and G2 review sentiment, as of our August 2026 crawl. Sentry reported $128M in annual revenue by end of 2023 and a $3 billion valuation. Those are the company's own numbers. What follows is what our own data says about where Sentry actually loads, how the market is moving, and what the numbers mean for sales and product teams.

One framing note before the sections. Our rule fires when a Sentry error-reporting SDK is present on a page. Presence is not purchase. A single-location restaurant or a solo realtor whose site was built on a hosted platform will appear in this data, and neither of them bought application monitoring. Everything below should be read as "domains where we detect Sentry", never as a count of accounts.

1. Growth trajectory

Our records hold fewer than 2,400 Sentry domains in any month before 2018. The first real step is January 2018, when a revamped JavaScript SDK took the count from 2,378 to 87,387 in one month. The count settled into the 60,000 to 65,000 range through 2018 and then grew steadily through 2019.

The second step arrived in August 2020, when the count jumped from 100,905 to 239,682. This is when Wix began loading the Sentry SDK across the sites it hosts. Every Wix site started reporting errors through Sentry whether or not the site owner knew. Growth continued from there to 747,036 active domains by March 2025.

Our series then pauses and resumes at 1,595,599 in June 2026, reaching 1,851,998 by August 2026. Those earlier readings are not on the chart above, which shows the current crawl only, and the difference between them and these is not adoption. Two things move it at once: the domain set we crawl turns over every month, with dead domains falling out and newly discovered ones coming in, and our detection signals widened over the same period. Meanwhile Sentry's own metrics keep climbing, at over 790 billion events processed monthly. The company acquired Emerge Tools in May 2025 and launched AI Code Review in September 2025, which is what a company investing in growth looks like.

Sales Signal: Sentry's direct-install base, meaning domains that carry the SDK without Wix, is roughly 833,000 domains. That is the addressable market for tooling, integrations and services aimed at teams that actively chose Sentry. Filter out Wix co-occurrence on TechnologyChecker.io to isolate them.

2. Customer profile

Two populations sit in this data. The bulk, 74.45% at 1 to 10 employees and another 18.24% at 11 to 50, are micro-businesses on hosted platforms. They did not pick Sentry; it came with the website builder. The rest is where the interesting story lives.

At the large-company end, our crawl finds Sentry on domains owned by Siemens, Salesforce, Apple, NVIDIA, Starbucks, EA, Wells Fargo, ByteDance and Turkish Airlines. Almost all of these are subdomains: www.mobility.siemens.com, docs.nvidia.com, tv.apple.com, careers.starbucks.com, help.ea.com. That points to departmental deployments rather than company-wide mandates. Sentry's own customer page and case studies name a different set: Anthropic, whose 600+ engineers call it their primary debugging tool, plus Disney+, Cloudflare, Reddit and Riot Games. Reddit's Andy Tuba described how Sentry consolidates millions of error reports into roughly 50 root causes: "With Sentry, I can fix a million problems all at once."

Age distribution skews young. 41.32% of the companies we can date were founded in the 2010s and another 29.20% in the 2020s, so 70.52% postdate 2010. Only 15.67% predate 2000.

Sales Signal: Enterprise detections on subdomains signal expansion room. If Sentry runs on one team's documentation or careers site, other engineering groups at the same company are candidates. Only 1,136 domains in our data belong to companies with 10,001 or more employees, and another 4,759 to the 1,001 to 5,000 band, so that pool is small enough to work by hand.

3. Industry and geographic concentration

No industry reaches 5%. Business Consulting and Services (4.06%) leads, then Construction (4.04%) and Retail (3.27%), and the drop from first to tenth is under two points. Software Development does not appear in the top ten at all; the closest developer-shaped row is IT Services and IT Consulting at 2.22%. That flatness is a finding, not missing data. A tool with a genuine buyer persona spikes somewhere. Sentry's distribution instead describes the shape of the hosted web, because the SDK rides along on platform-built sites in every vertical.

Geographically, the United States leads with 481,747 domains, then the United Kingdom (124,459), Canada (62,337), Brazil (58,590) and Australia (53,749). Brazil at #4 would be unusual for a developer tool, and it is not one here: Wix is widely used in the market and the SDK comes with it. Germany (44,514) and France (42,933) are strong engineering markets that place below what their developer populations would suggest, for the same reason in reverse.

Sales Signal: Brazil's 58,590 Sentry-carrying domains are mostly platform sites, but filtering for IT Services or consulting inside that set surfaces teams that chose Sentry deliberately and may need paid plans. Germany's 44,514 domains sit in a market with documentation and retention requirements around error logging that can justify an enterprise tier.

4. Migration patterns

We opened the switching window on this category in March 2026, so every corridor below is months of observation rather than years. Sentry's flows are no longer one-directional.

It wins clearly against New Relic: 3,420 domains arrived from New Relic and 1,490 left for it, a 2.30:1 ratio. Against Datadog the margin is thin, at 2,293 in and 1,764 out, a 1.30:1 ratio. Datadog's full-stack pitch of infrastructure, APM and error tracking in one bundle is the obvious reason, and it matches G2 feedback that teams outgrowing error-only monitoring want a single pane of glass.

Three corridors run against Sentry. It lost 1,307 domains to BugSnag while gaining only 375, lost 830 to Boomerang while gaining 221, and lost 696 to Akamai mPulse while gaining 197. These are small absolute numbers next to Sentry's footprint, but the direction is consistent and worth watching. Separately, 185,077 domains dropped Sentry since March 2026, against 6,628 that we can match to a named replacement, so the overwhelming majority of departures are domains that stopped reporting rather than teams choosing a competitor.

Sales Signal: The 3,420 domains that dropped New Relic for Sentry already made a buying decision in observability and are a rich pool for adjacent tooling. The 1,764 that moved to Datadog reveal the specific gap: they needed more than error tracking. Target that group with integrated observability.

5. Technology ecosystem

The stack data settles the Wix question. Across the domains where we currently detect Sentry, 1,154,822 also run Wix, which is 58.08% of the footprint and leaves 833,558 that do not. The headline count of 1,851,998 is the latest full month; our current crawl runs a little ahead of it, which is why those two figures are not identical. The co-occurrence table computed on profiled domains agrees closely, putting Wix at 57.93% and Wix eCommerce at 57.88%.

Read the overlap in the other direction and it is even clearer: 79.80% of every Wix site carries Sentry. No ordinary buying pattern produces four in five. That is the signature of a platform embedding an SDK in its own runtime, and on these sites the SDK is served from Wix-controlled hosts rather than from Sentry's own.

Outside CMS, React leads JavaScript frameworks at 62.53%, well ahead of Vue.js (5.23%) and Alpine.js (3.59%). Google Cloud CDN (53.32%) leads CDNs, which follows from Wix serving through Google Cloud, with Cloudflare second at 29.81%. Google Analytics (41.74%) is the most common analytics pairing. Squarespace (5.95%) and WordPress (4.46%) are the next CMS platforms after Wix, an order of magnitude behind.

Sales Signal: The 124,143 domains running both Sentry and React are the cleanest proxy we have for deliberate installs by a front-end engineering team. That group cares about session replay, performance monitoring and developer experience tooling, and it is a far better prospecting segment than the raw footprint.

6. G2 review signals

G2 reviewers cite ease of use (21 mentions) and efficient error tracking (21 mentions) as Sentry's top strengths, with debugging and monitoring capabilities on 13 each. That aligns with the New Relic corridor: teams leave tools with steeper learning curves for Sentry's developer-facing interface.

On the criticism side, pricing appears in 13 combined mentions across two categories, with configuration complexity (5) and UI navigation (5) behind it. The pricing complaints map onto our size data: 74.45% of the detected base sits at 1 to 10 employees. Event-based pricing hits growing applications hard, and Sentry's Team plan at $26/month includes 50K errors, a threshold a fast-growing startup reaches quickly.

Sentry's September 2025 launch of AI Code Review and its August 2025 MCP Server Monitoring tool address a different criticism: that Sentry only catches bugs after they ship. Both are signals that the company is moving upstream of the error.

Sales Signal: Pricing sensitivity in reviews combined with the micro-business skew in our data points to a large base of free-tier users hitting scaling friction. Tools that help them cut event volume through deduplication, sampling and budget alerts have a ready market.

7. Key takeaways

1. Sentry's 1,851,998-domain footprint is real but needs context. 58.08% of it also runs Wix, which loads the SDK platform-wide, leaving roughly 833,000 domains where someone chose Sentry.

2. Category dominance is genuine at 71.99%, more than eight times New Relic's 8.81%, but a large part of that gap is distribution rather than competitive displacement.

3. Migration is no longer one-directional. Sentry gains against New Relic (2.30:1) and narrowly against Datadog (1.30:1), but loses net domains to BugSnag, Boomerang and Akamai mPulse.

4. Large-company adoption is real but departmental. Siemens, Salesforce, Apple, NVIDIA and EA appear on documentation, careers and support subdomains, not company-wide. Anthropic and Reddit are the confirmed company-wide users, via Sentry's own case studies.

5. The detected base skews micro-business (74.45% at 1 to 10 employees) and young (70.52% founded after 2010), driven by platform distribution as much as by startup adoption.

6. The industry table is flat, with nothing above 4.06% and Software Development outside the top ten. That is what a horizontally distributed SDK looks like, not a data gap.

8. Sales applications

Outreach template (enterprise expansion): "Hi [Name], I noticed [Company]'s team runs Sentry on [detected subdomain]. Anthropic's 600+ engineers standardized on Sentry company-wide, but most large organizations we track still run it on isolated subdomains. For teams like yours, we help identify where error monitoring coverage gaps sit across engineering groups. Worth 15 minutes?"

Targeting strategy: On TechnologyChecker.io, filter for Sentry domains at companies with 201 or more employees. That is 28,251 domains in our data. Exclude Wix co-occurrence and the remainder are direct installs with budget for paid plans.

Competitive angle: Target the 1,764 domains that moved from Sentry to Datadog and the 1,307 that moved to BugSnag. These teams needed something Sentry did not give them, whether full-stack observability or a different error workflow. Position accordingly.
