Companies Using Firebase
Firebase is Google's app development platform: a single SDK that hands a web or mobile app a database (Firestore, plus the older Realtime Database), authentication, push messaging, analytics, crash reporting and hosting, with no backend to build or run. It was founded in 2012 and bought by Google in October 2014, and for a decade it has been the first backend most small teams reach for.
Our August reading puts Firebase on 160,932 domains, 6.87% of the Platform as a Service category and #5 of the 41 ranked technologies in it, behind Amazon Web Services (936,363 domains), Vercel (389,653), WordPress.com (193,092) and Azure (175,651), and just ahead of Netlify (154,481). Read that as a map of the category rather than a shortlist, because Firebase is a backend layer rather than a host: it usually runs on top of the platforms it is ranked against instead of replacing them.
One caveat belongs in front of every number on this page. Our rule for Firebase is the broadest in this category, matching the SDK script source, the firebase.SDK_VERSION JavaScript global, a vary: x-fh-requested-host response header, an iframe pointing at a .firebaseapp.com address, a DNS TXT record, XHR calls to firestore.googleapis.com or a .firebaseio.com endpoint, and inline scripts containing firebaseConfig. Several of those signals only appear on a page that is actually using the service, so the same site can look like a Firebase user on one crawl and like nothing at all on the next.
Firebase's own addresses are a small corner of this base: 1,639 domains are themselves firebaseapp.com or web.app hosts, and everything else runs on a custom domain. Below you will find the list of companies using Firebase, with the market share, company size, industry and country breakdowns behind it.

Firebase Usage Statistics
Our current crawl window holds three monthly readings, so this is a short series rather than a long history: active domains run 138,674 on 1 June 2026, 155,298 on 1 July and 160,932 on 1 August. Read the June to July step as our coverage widening rather than as a market that added 16,624 domains in four weeks. The number worth more attention sits next to the chart: 43,110 domains dropped a detection since we began tracking in March 2026, but 75.1% of those were seen exactly once, well above the 48% to 56% we see across comparable platforms in this category. Firebase is often loaded conditionally, behind a login or on one app route, so a crawl that lands on a page which never calls Firestore or Auth records nothing at all. Treat that 43,110 as detection flicker first and abandonment second.
List of Companies Using Firebase
The list of companies using Firebase below is drawn from the 96,521 domains we could match to a company record, and it runs from school districts and universities to banks, telecoms, airlines and retailers.
The detection URL is usually the most informative column on the table. Carrefour appears on communaute.carrefour.fr, Türk Telekom on bireysel.turktelekom.com.tr, Paytm on tickets.paytm.com, Toll Group on its careers site and Tata Communications on its jobs subdomain. Across the larger websites using Firebase, it is one portal or one app inside the organisation rather than the organisation's backend.

Some of the larger organisations carrying a Firebase detection in the August reading, with the address we saw it on:
- Carrefour - French retail group, detected on communaute.carrefour.fr
- Red Bull - drinks company, detected on redbull.com
- Decathlon - French sporting goods group, detected on decathlon.fr
- Kraft Heinz - food and beverage group, detected on kraftheinz.com
- Penn State - US university, detected on www.psu.edu
- Paytm - Indian financial services platform, detected on tickets.paytm.com

The pattern in that list is the pattern across the whole enterprise band: a support site, a ticketing portal, a customer login or a community forum, not a company-wide platform.
Which Countries Use Firebase the Most?
The United States leads with 26,292 matched domains, then India on 9,079, the United Kingdom on 5,526 and Brazil on 5,032. Canada (3,150), France (2,507), Australia (2,367), Germany (2,207) and Japan (1,956) follow, with the Netherlands (1,637), Spain (1,619), Italy (1,256), Mexico (1,249), Turkey (1,210) and Belgium (849) behind them. India in second place is the entry worth sitting with: Firebase's footprint tracks the developer population rather than the enterprise software map, and a free tier plus a mobile-first market puts it in front of an enormous number of small teams. These are counts inside the 96,521 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.
Share of the 96,521 Firebase domains we matched to a company record — 60.0% of the 160,932 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Firebase Market Share Among PaaS
Firebase ranks #5 of the 41 ranked technologies in Platform as a Service, with 6.87% of the category on 160,932 domains in the August reading. Amazon Web Services (936,363 domains, 39.98%), Vercel (389,653, 16.64%), WordPress.com (193,092, 8.24%) and Azure (175,651, 7.5%) sit above it, and Netlify (154,481, 6.6%) just below. That figure is a share of the domains we detect running something in this category, not a share of app backends and not a share of all websites, so it is not comparable to numbers built on other denominators. Company records could be matched for 96,521 of those domains, and every size, industry, age and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Firebase Customers by Company Size & Age
Company size skews small, and hard. Of the 92,067 domains where we could resolve an employee band, 63.98% (58,908 domains) are 1-10 employee companies and 21.59% (19,878) are 11-50, so the two smallest bands cover more than eight in ten. The 10,001+ band is 0.27% (244 domains), but that thin slice holds Carrefour, Penn State, Red Bull, Decathlon, Kraft Heinz and Reckitt Benckiser Group. Both readings are true at once: Firebase is what a two-person team reaches for first, and it is also what one product team inside a very large company uses for one app.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
What Industries Use Firebase the Most?
Among domains matched to a company with a resolved industry, Software Development leads with 8,361 domains (9.47%), followed by IT Services and IT Consulting (6,224, 7.05%) and Technology, Information and Internet (5,992, 6.79%). After that the distribution flattens quickly: Financial Services (2,495, 2.83%), Retail (2,056, 2.33%), Primary and Secondary Education (2,051, 2.32%), Business Consulting and Services (1,955, 2.21%), Real Estate (1,946, 2.2%), Education Administration Programs (1,787, 2.02%) and Advertising Services (1,680, 1.9%). Percentages are shares of all industry-resolved domains, not of these ten.
The detail worth pulling out of that flat tail is education. Primary and Secondary Education (2,051 domains) and Education Administration Programs (1,787) both make the top ten, which is unusual for a developer platform and easy to explain once you look at the domains: Clark County School District, Houston ISD, Dallas Independent School Districts, Broward Schools, Wake County Public School System and Boston Public Schools all carry a detection, sometimes on the district site and more often on an individual school or department subdomain. Higher education shows the same shape at Penn State, Rutgers University and Florida International University. Banking is the other cluster hiding in the tail: Emirates NBD, Bank Alfalah, Security Bank Corporation, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Standard Bank and Banco de Chile appear too, almost always on a customer-facing subdomain rather than a core system.
Firebase Alternatives & Competitors
The neighbours here are clouds and hosts rather than backend-as-a-service rivals. Amazon Web Services dominates Platform as a Service with 936,363 domains (39.98%), Vercel follows on 389,653 (16.64%), then WordPress.com (193,092, 8.24%), Azure (175,651, 7.5%) and Netlify (154,481, 6.6%). Firebase's 160,932 domains place it fifth, between Azure and Netlify. Treat that as a map of the category rather than a shortlist, because Firebase runs alongside these platforms far more often than it replaces them: of the domains that have ever run both Firebase and AWS, 89.8% still run both, and the figure is 89.1% for Vercel, 87.2% for Netlify and 91.2% for Azure. A site picks a host, then adds Firebase for auth, messaging or a database, which is also why this profile publishes no switching numbers.

Tech Stack of Firebase-Powered Websites
Firebase almost never travels alone. 61.05% of sampled Firebase domains also run Google Tag Manager and 57.81% run Google Analytics, which is the least surprising overlap on the page for a Google product. The more telling number is Cloudflare at 37.49%: more than a third of these domains put a CDN with nothing to do with Google in front of whatever Firebase is doing, with cdnjs (17.03%), jsDelivr (14.94%), Google Cloud CDN (11.04%), Google Hosted Libraries (6.02%) and Unpkg (5.08%) filling out that column. On the framework side React leads at 16.68%, followed by React Router (9.87%), Vue.js (8.29%), Angular (5.18%), Zone.js (4.82%) and AMP (3.85%). None of that looks like a platform that owns its customers' infrastructure; it looks like a component dropped into a stack somebody else assembled. Percentages are shares of Firebase's sampled active domains. Read from the other side, Firebase runs on 52.83% of the domains with a Flutter web build (3,901 domains, per the Flutter profile), which pairs Google's UI toolkit with Google's own app back end.

Firebase Customer Reviews with Pros and Cons
Aggregated G2 reviews split cleanly down the middle of Firebase's design. The pros are about speed: ease of use (10 mentions), the breadth of the backend-as-a-service bundle (9) and real-time updates (7), out of 38 pro mentions in total. The cons are about money: cost issues (10 mentions), pricing that escalates unexpectedly (9) and pricing judged uncompetitive (6) account for 25 of the 35 con mentions, and the remaining complaints (a black box feeling at 6, navigation at 4) are the same objection from another angle, that it is hard to see which part of an app is generating the bill. Both halves describe one decision: Firebase hides the backend, which is why a small team ships in a weekend and why the same team struggles to forecast the bill at ten times the traffic.

Expert Analysis: Firebase Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Firebase is a layer, not a host, and almost every mistake made with this data starts by forgetting that. It is measured in Platform as a Service and ranked against the clouds, but the products above and below it in the table answer a different question. Amazon Web Services, Vercel, Azure and Netlify answer where a site runs. Firebase answers where an app keeps its users, its data and its push notifications. Sites pick one of the first group and then add the second.
Where Firebase sits in the category
By domain count Firebase is fifth: 160,932 domains, 6.87% of Platform as a Service, behind AWS (936,363), Vercel (389,653), WordPress.com (193,092) and Azure (175,651), just ahead of Netlify (154,481). That is a real position in a real category, but it is not a competitive shortlist, and treating it as one produces the wrong pitch, the wrong comparison page and the wrong forecast. The co-occurrence numbers settle it, and I will come back to them.
What a detection here does and does not prove
Our Firebase rule is the broadest in this category. A domain counts if we see any one of: the SDK script source, the firebase.SDK_VERSION JavaScript global, a vary: x-fh-requested-host response header, an iframe pointing at a .firebaseapp.com address, a DNS TXT record, an XHR call to firestore.googleapis.com or a .firebaseio.com endpoint, or an inline script containing firebaseConfig.
Those signals are not equivalent. A DNS TXT record and a response header are properties of the domain: they sit there whether or not anyone visits a page that uses Firebase. The XHR calls and the SDK_VERSION global are properties of a page view: they exist only if the code path that talks to Firestore or Auth actually ran while we were looking. Firebase is loaded conditionally on a great many sites, behind a login, a support widget, a booking step or a single app route, so a crawl that lands on the marketing homepage can see nothing at all.
The practical version: a Firebase detection proves Firebase is wired into that domain somewhere. It does not tell you which products are in use, it does not tell you the app's backend is Firebase, and it does not promise the detection will still be there next month. If a specific domain matters to you, open it in a browser and watch the network panel before you act on it.
Sales Signal: the detection URL is the qualifier, not the domain. Firebase on tickets.paytm.com or online.emiratesnbd.com tells you which team inside the organisation owns the project. That is who to contact, and it is rarely whoever owns the main website.
How to read the drop count
43,110 domains dropped a detection since we began tracking in March 2026. At face value that reads like a wave of departures. It is not. 75.1% of those domains were seen exactly once, well above the 48% to 56% we see across comparable platforms in this category, and that gap is the signature of a conditional loader rather than of churn. A site that shows Firebase on one crawl and not the next has usually done nothing; we simply landed on a different page.
This is the most misread number on any Firebase usage page, ours included. Anyone building a list of companies leaving Firebase out of a drop count like this one will spend most of their outreach on companies that never left.
Sales Signal: if you want real departures, do not use the drop count. Filter for domains that are still live, still returning content, and have missed a detection across several consecutive readings. That is a much smaller list and a far better one.
Why this page publishes no switching data
Most profiles here carry a customer migration section. This one does not, and the co-occurrence numbers are the reason. Of the domains that have ever run both Firebase and AWS, 89.8% are running both right now. For Vercel it is 89.1%, Netlify 87.2% and Azure 91.2%. Nine in ten. These are not products a site chooses between; they are products a site stacks.
A corridor between Firebase and a host would therefore be measuring something else: a site dropping a layer while keeping its infrastructure, or, far more often given the numbers above, a conditional detection that flickered off between crawls. I would rather publish nothing than publish a number that reads like a decision and describes a crawl.
Who is actually using it
Size first. Of the 92,067 domains where we could resolve an employee band, 63.98% (58,908) are 1-10 employee companies and 21.59% (19,878) are 11-50. Age says the same thing from another angle: 39.06% of matched companies were founded in the 2010s and 38.26% in the 2020s, so more than three quarters of this base was founded after 2010. A free tier and a zero-backend setup are doing exactly what they were designed to do.
Geography follows the developer population rather than the enterprise software map. The United States leads with 26,292 matched domains, but India is second on 9,079, ahead of the United Kingdom (5,526) and Brazil (5,032). Canada (3,150), France (2,507), Australia (2,367), Germany (2,207) and Japan (1,956) follow. A mobile-first market with a large base of small studios and independent developers is where a free app backend lands hardest.
Then the other end. The 10,001+ employee band is 244 domains, 0.27% of the size-resolved base, and it holds names anyone would recognise: Carrefour, Penn State, Red Bull, Decathlon, Kraft Heinz, Reckitt Benckiser Group, Emirates NBD, Türk Telekom, Six Flags. Look at where those detections sit and the pattern is consistent: communaute.carrefour.fr, online.emiratesnbd.com, bireysel.turktelekom.com.tr, tickets.paytm.com. One portal, one app, one team.
Sales Signal: filter this list for 11-50 employee companies founded in the 2020s. They are past the weekend-project stage, they are on a platform whose bill scales with usage, and they are the segment that actually evaluates alternatives.
The education cluster
Two education categories make the top ten industries: Primary and Secondary Education (2,051 domains) and Education Administration Programs (1,787). For a developer platform that is unusual, and the domains explain it. Clark County School District, Houston ISD, Dallas Independent School Districts, Broward Schools, Wake County Public School System and Boston Public Schools all carry a detection, sometimes on the district site and more often on an individual school or department subdomain. Higher education is there too, at Penn State, Rutgers University and Florida International University.
School districts run a long tail of small sites and apps, built by small vendors or by one internal developer, and Firebase is the cheapest way to give any of them logins, a database and push notifications. It is the same buying pattern as the 1-10 employee band wearing an institutional badge.
The stack around it
61.05% of sampled Firebase domains also run Google Tag Manager and 57.81% run Google Analytics, which is the least surprising overlap on the page. The interesting one is Cloudflare at 37.49%: more than a third of these domains put a non-Google CDN in front of whatever Firebase is doing, with cdnjs (17.03%), jsDelivr (14.94%) and Google Cloud CDN (11.04%) filling out that column. On the framework side React leads at 16.68%, followed by React Router (9.87%), Vue.js (8.29%) and Angular (5.18%).
Read together, none of those numbers describes a platform that owns its customers' infrastructure. They describe a component: picked for a job, dropped into a stack that somebody else assembled, and surrounded by tools it does not own.
What the reviews add
The G2 pattern is coherent rather than contradictory. The pros are about speed: ease of use (10 mentions), the breadth of the bundle (9), real-time updates (7). The cons are about money: cost issues (10), unexpected escalation (9) and uncompetitive pricing (6) make up 25 of the 35 con mentions, and the black box complaint (6) is the same objection from the other side, that it is hard to see where the cost is coming from.
Both halves are consequences of one design decision. Firebase hides the backend. That is why a two-person team ships in a weekend, and it is why the same team cannot forecast the bill at ten times the traffic.
What to take away
1. Firebase is on 160,932 domains, 6.87% of Platform as a Service and fifth in the category, but it is ranked against hosts it normally runs on top of.
2. The detection rule is broad and partly conditional, so read any single detection as "Firebase is wired in here somewhere" and verify before acting on it.
3. The 43,110 drop count is dominated by intermittency: 75.1% of those domains were seen exactly once.
4. There is no switching data because 87% to 91% of the domains that have ever paired Firebase with AWS, Vercel, Netlify or Azure still run both.
5. The base is small and young: 63.98% of size-resolved domains are 1-10 employee companies, and more than three quarters of matched companies were founded after 2010.
6. Enterprise and public-sector detections are real but almost always departmental, and the detection URL usually tells you which department.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Firebase?
We detect Firebase on 160,932 domains, including Carrefour, Sutherland Global, Ecolab. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Software Development (9.47%).
How many customers does Firebase have?
We detect 160,932 domains running Firebase across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 96,521 of them (60.0%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 43,110 domains carried a Firebase detection previously and no longer do.
What is Firebase's market share?
Firebase holds 6.87% of the PaaS category, ranking #5. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.
What are the best alternatives to Firebase?
The top alternatives to Firebase include Amazon Web Services (39.98% market share), Vercel (16.64% market share), WordPress.com (8.24% market share), Azure (7.5% market share) — measured as a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category.
Which countries use Firebase the most?
United States leads with 26,292 matched Firebase domains, followed by India (9,079), United Kingdom (5,526), Brazil (5,032), Canada (3,150). These are counts within the 96,521 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.
What size companies use Firebase?
The most common company size is 1-10 employees, representing 63.98% of the Firebase domains we could match to a company record and size — a subset of 96,521 matched companies, not of all 160,932 detected domains. This is followed by 11-50 employees (21.59%) and 51-200 employees (8.36%).
How old are companies that use Firebase?
Among the Firebase domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (39.06%), followed by the 2020s (38.26%). That matched subset is drawn from 96,521 companies and is not representative of all 160,932 detected domains. This suggests Firebase is most popular among relatively young companies.
What is the ideal customer profile for Firebase?
The ideal Firebase customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees (63.98%), 11-50 (21.59%), Geography: US (26,292 matched domains), India (9,079), UK (5,526), Brazil (5,032), Industry: Software Development, IT Services, Technology and Internet, plus school districts, Company Age: Founded in the 2010s (39.06%) or the 2020s (38.26%), Use Case: App backend: Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Hosting, Tech Stack: Google Tag Manager (61.05%), Google Analytics (57.81%), Cloudflare (37.49%), React (16.68%) — based on our analysis of 96,521 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.
What is Firebase?
Firebase is Google's app development platform. One SDK gives an application a database (Firestore and the older Realtime Database), authentication, push messaging through Cloud Messaging, analytics, crash reporting and hosting, so a team can ship without building or running a backend. It was founded in 2012 and acquired by Google in October 2014.
How does TechnologyChecker detect Firebase?
We match it on the SDK script source, the firebase.SDK_VERSION JavaScript global, a vary: x-fh-requested-host response header, an iframe pointing at a .firebaseapp.com address, a DNS TXT record, XHR calls to firestore.googleapis.com or a .firebaseio.com endpoint, and inline scripts containing firebaseConfig. Any one of those is enough for a domain to be counted, which makes this one of the broadest detection rules in the Platform as a Service category.
Does a Firebase detection mean the site's backend runs on Firebase?
No. A detection proves Firebase is wired into that domain somewhere. It does not say which products are in use, how much of the application depends on them, or whether the main backend is Firebase at all. Several of the signals we match, including the XHR calls to Firestore and the firebase.SDK_VERSION global, only appear when the code path that uses Firebase actually runs, so a detection can come from a single login screen or support widget sitting on an otherwise unrelated stack. Confirm in a browser before treating a specific domain as a Firebase shop.
Why does this page publish no Firebase switching or migration data?
Because Firebase is a backend layer rather than a host, and the platforms it would be compared against are the ones it runs on top of. Of the domains that have ever run both Firebase and Amazon Web Services, 89.8% still run both. For Vercel it is 89.1%, Netlify 87.2% and Azure 91.2%. A migration corridor between products that nine in ten sites keep running together would describe crawl timing rather than any decision, so we publish none.
Have companies been dropping Firebase?
43,110 domains dropped a detection since we began tracking in March 2026, but that is not a count of departures. 75.1% of those domains were seen exactly once, well above the 48% to 56% typical of comparable platforms in this category. Firebase is often loaded conditionally, behind a login or on one route of an app, so a crawl that lands on a page which never calls it records nothing. Read the number as detection intermittency first and abandonment second.
How many websites use Firebase?
Our August reading detects Firebase on 160,932 domains. The three readings in the current crawl window are 138,674 active domains on 1 June 2026, 155,298 on 1 July and 160,932 on 1 August, and the first step reflects our coverage widening as much as any change in the market. Company records could be matched for 96,521 of those domains, and the size, industry, country and age breakdowns on this page describe that matched subset rather than the full detected base.
Is Firebase still used in 2026?
Yes. It is on 160,932 domains in the August reading, 6.87% of the Platform as a Service category and fifth by domain count. It is also one of the most heavily stacked products in that category: it appears alongside the major hosts rather than instead of them, and nine in ten of the domains that have ever paired it with AWS, Vercel, Netlify or Azure still run both.
Is Firebase owned by Amazon?
No. Firebase was founded in 2012 by James Tamplin and Andrew Lee and acquired by Google in October 2014, and it is part of Google Cloud. Amazon's own platform in this category, Amazon Web Services, is a separate product and the category leader by domain count with 936,363 domains against Firebase's 160,932.
Is Firebase free?
Firebase has a free tier, the Spark plan, which covers products such as Authentication, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics and Remote Config along with daily quotas on Firestore and Hosting, and a pay-as-you-go plan, Blaze, that bills beyond those quotas. Cost is the dominant theme in the G2 reviews on this page: cost issues (10 mentions), pricing that escalates unexpectedly (9) and pricing judged uncompetitive (6) account for 25 of the 35 con mentions.
Why is Firebase listed under Platform as a Service?
Because that is the category we measure it in, and the ranking there is a map of the category rather than a shortlist. Firebase is a backend layer: it supplies the database, authentication and messaging an app needs while something else serves the site. That is why it sits at #5 with 6.87% behind Amazon Web Services, Vercel, WordPress.com and Azure, and why it coexists with all of them instead of replacing them.
Does Firebase replace a host like Vercel or Netlify?
Rarely. Of the domains that have ever run Firebase and Vercel together, 89.1% still run both, and for Netlify the figure is 87.2%. Firebase supplies the database, auth and messaging while the host serves the site, so the usual arrangement is both rather than either.
What do the largest companies use Firebase for?
Almost always one project rather than a whole estate. The 10,001+ employee band is 244 domains, 0.27% of the size-resolved base, and the detection URLs make the pattern plain: Carrefour on communaute.carrefour.fr, Emirates NBD on online.emiratesnbd.com, Türk Telekom on bireysel.turktelekom.com.tr, Paytm on tickets.paytm.com. Firebase is a portal, an app or a support tool inside a large company, not its backend.
Is Firebase a good fit for enterprise applications?
The data shows it used at enterprise scale but rarely as enterprise infrastructure. Companies with more than 10,000 employees account for 244 of the 92,067 size-resolved domains. Across the top of the size range the detections sit on portals, careers sites and support subdomains: Toll Group on its careers site, Tata Communications on its jobs subdomain, Sutherland Global on its jobs site, AirAsia on support.airasia.com. Departmental use is the norm at that size.
Do schools and universities use Firebase?
More than you would expect from a developer platform. Primary and Secondary Education (2,051 domains) and Education Administration Programs (1,787) both make the top ten industries. Clark County School District, Houston ISD, Dallas Independent School Districts, Broward Schools, Wake County Public School System and Boston Public Schools all carry a detection, as do Penn State, Rutgers University and Florida International University, usually on an individual school, portal or department subdomain rather than the main site.
Do banks use Firebase?
Several do, on customer-facing subdomains rather than core banking systems. Emirates NBD (online.emiratesnbd.com), Bank Alfalah (rapid.bankalfalah.com), Security Bank Corporation (retail.securitybank.com), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (simple.adib.ae), Standard Bank (experience.standardbank.co.za) and Banco de Chile all appear in the data. Financial Services accounts for 2,495 domains, 2.83% of the industry-resolved base.
How many Firebase sites are on Firebase Hosting?
We cannot answer that from a domain count, and the closest figure is smaller than people expect: 1,639 of the domains we detect are themselves firebaseapp.com or web.app addresses. A site served by Firebase Hosting normally points a custom domain at it, so it looks like any other domain here. The hosting product is not a reliable way to size Firebase usage in either direction.
What does Firebase usually run alongside?
Google Tag Manager (61.05% of sampled Firebase domains) and Google Analytics (57.81%) lead, which is expected for a Google product. Cloudflare is the more telling entry at 37.49%, along with cdnjs (17.03%), jsDelivr (14.94%) and Google Cloud CDN (11.04%). On the framework side React leads at 16.68%, followed by React Router (9.87%), Vue.js (8.29%) and Angular (5.18%). Percentages are shares of Firebase's sampled active domains.
What are the most common complaints about Firebase?
Pricing, by a distance. In the aggregated G2 reviews on this page, cost issues draw 10 mentions, pricing that escalates unexpectedly 9 and pricing judged uncompetitive 6, which is 25 of the 35 con mentions. The other recurring complaint, the black box feeling (6 mentions), is the same objection from another angle: it is hard to see which part of an app is generating the bill.
What do developers like about Firebase?
Speed of setup. Ease of use is the top pro with 10 mentions, followed by the breadth of the backend-as-a-service bundle (9) and real-time updates (7). For a team without a backend engineer, one SDK covering database, authentication, messaging and analytics removes weeks of work, which is also why 63.98% of the Firebase domains we can size belong to companies with 1 to 10 employees.
Is Firebase mainly used by startups?
Mostly, yes. 63.98% of the size-resolved domains (58,908) belong to companies with 1 to 10 employees and another 21.59% (19,878) to companies with 11 to 50. Founding dates point the same way: 39.06% of matched companies were founded in the 2010s and 38.26% in the 2020s. The large organisations in the data are real, but they are a thin band and their detections are usually a single project rather than a company-wide platform.
Why is India second in the Firebase country data?
India accounts for 9,079 matched domains, behind the United States on 26,292 and ahead of the United Kingdom (5,526) and Brazil (5,032). Firebase's footprint tracks the developer population rather than the enterprise software map, and a free tier plus a mobile-first market puts it in front of a very large number of small studios and independent teams. These are counts inside the 96,521 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.
What should I check before treating a Firebase detection as a sales signal?
Three things. Whether the detection sits on the main domain or a subdomain, because that tells you which team owns the project. Whether it persists across readings, because 75.1% of the 43,110 dropped domains were seen exactly once. And whether Firebase is doing anything you can observe in a browser, because several of the signals we match only appear when the application's Firebase code path actually runs.
