Companies Using AbuseIPDB
Our October 2026 crawl finds 2,642 domains with an AbuseIPDB verification record. AbuseIPDB is a shared database where sysadmins report and check abusive IP addresses, and a user who proves they run a domain becomes a verified webmaster, with 3,000 API requests a day instead of 1,000. So the count is organisations and individuals who verified a domain with AbuseIPDB at least once. Below is the list of companies that use AbuseIPDB, from Ulta Beauty, Eurostar and PizzaExpress to universities such as Rutgers and Lund.
AbuseIPDB ranks 7th of 17 in Security Testing & Compliance with a 2.06% share. This is a sysadmin's tool, and the list shows it: IT services lead the industries at 18.62%, 42.57% of matched companies have 10 or fewer staff, and 834 of the 2,642 domains don't match a company at all, many of them personal servers and hobby sites.

AbuseIPDB Usage Statistics
The chart rises from 1,942 domains in June 2026 to 2,642 in October. That change belongs mostly to our crawl, not to AbuseIPDB: the domains we cover turn over every month as dead sites drop out and new ones are added, and our DNS detection widened during those months. Removals are rare. 37 domains have dropped the record since we began tracking removals on 16 March 2026, and 5 of them still carry it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use AbuseIPDB the Most?
Which countries use AbuseIPDB the most? The United States leads with 449 matched companies, then Germany (165) and the United Kingdom (136). France (73), the Netherlands (67), Australia (63) and Spain (61) follow. The European countries in the table add up to 680, well ahead of the US, and Germany, Austria and Switzerland together reach 229. These counts cover the 1,808 domains we matched to a company.
Share of the 1,808 AbuseIPDB domains we matched to a company record — 68.4% of the 2,642 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
AbuseIPDB Market Share Among Security Testing & Compliance
What is AbuseIPDB's market share? 2.06% of Security Testing & Compliance, 7th of 17 technologies, on 2,642 of the category's 128,054 domains, per our crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. Wiz is one place higher with 2,717 and SpyCloud one lower with 2,355. Every one of those neighbours is counted from a DNS verification record, but they sell to very different buyers, so the ranking says more about who bothers to verify than about market size.

AbuseIPDB Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use AbuseIPDB? Very small ones, mostly. 42.57% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 staff (754 of 1,771) and 25.64% have 11 to 50, so 68.21% have 50 or fewer. 115 have more than 1,000, a group led by universities and a few companies such as Ulta Beauty, NTPC and Steel Dynamics.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group was founded in the 2010s (31.78%), then the 2000s (25.6%) and the 1990s (13.89%). 9.89% started in the 2020s. The oldest rows are universities: Siena (1240), Caen (1432), Lund (1666) and Rutgers (1766). Only 6.55% of matched companies predate 1960.
What Industries Use AbuseIPDB the Most?
IT Services and IT Consulting leads at 18.62%, then Technology, Information and Internet (10.47%) and Software Development (8.44%), based on our enriched company data. Add Information Technology & Services (4.89%) and Computer and Network Security (3.2%) and IT-related industries reach 45.62%. Higher Education (3.55%) and Telecommunications (2.73%) are the next clusters, both places that run their own servers.
Hosting and IT service firms using AbuseIPDB are the core: IT-related industries make up 45.62% of matched companies, and 7 of 50 randomly sampled domains were hosting, VoIP or IT-security businesses. Universities using AbuseIPDB are the most visible names, Rutgers, Lund, Northern Arizona, Rensselaer and the University of Fribourg among them. Retailers on AbuseIPDB are rarer but present: Ulta Beauty, Tilly's and Metro.
AbuseIPDB Alternatives & Competitors
AbuseIPDB's table neighbours share its signal, a DNS verification record, but not its job. Have I Been Pwned (14.38%) searches breached email addresses, Detectify (4.09%) scans websites, Wiz (2.12%) secures cloud accounts and SpyCloud (1.84%) monitors stolen credentials. AbuseIPDB's real alternatives are other IP-reputation services, such as isMalicious, which publishes a comparison with it, and none of them is in our category table.

Expert Analysis: AbuseIPDB Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Our crawler reads the TXT records of every domain it visits, and AbuseIPDB's record is about as close to a sysadmin's signature as DNS gets. A domain counts when a TXT record contains abuseipdb-verification. Our October 2026 crawl puts that at 2,642 domains, 1,808 matched to a company, 7th of 17 in Security Testing & Compliance. When I re-read the 2,649 domains in our clean set on 15 October, 2,628 still had it.
What the record proves
AbuseIPDB's FAQ gives the reason to verify: regular users get 1,000 API requests a day, verified webmasters 3,000. Webmaster status also gives a user's reports slightly more weight in the confidence score. So the record marks someone who reports or checks IP addresses in volume, usually from a firewall, a mail server or Fail2Ban, and who wanted the higher limit. It says nothing about buying anything, and a paid Basic or Premium plan leaves no separate trace in DNS.
Sales signal: a domain with this record has a person who reads server logs and automates blocking. That's the buyer for hosting, firewall and log tools, and rarely a procurement department.
One verifier per domain
AbuseIPDB's code is per account, and it barely repeats: the 2,628 domains carry 2,552 different codes, and 2,503 codes sit on a single domain. The biggest shared code covers 16 unrelated Italian and other sites, probably one developer's clients, and another covers 10 small Australian and American businesses. The Portuguese publisher of Correio da Manhã and Record verified 12 of its titles under one code. Eleven more domains carry the record with an empty value, which looks like a DNS template copied without its code; they still count in the 2,642, though they prove nothing. Codes held for other people's domains come to about 1% of the count.
"Almost every AbuseIPDB domain has its own code. That's what a tool used by individual sysadmins looks like in DNS." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: you can treat rows as separate decision-makers here, unlike on Wiz or Detectify, where one code can cover dozens of domains.
Steady, not growing
The chart goes from 1,942 domains in June to 2,642 in October. That's our crawl, not AbuseIPDB: the domains we cover turn over each month as dead sites leave and new ones are found, and our DNS detection widened over the same months. 37 domains dropped the record since 16 March 2026, 5 still carry it on another hostname, and 32 of the 38 dropped hostnames had really removed it when I checked.
Sales signal: a pool of about 2,600 domains that changes slowly. Don't build a forecast on the chart.
Who verifies
Small technical businesses. 42.57% of matched companies have 1 to 10 staff and 68.21% have 50 or fewer; IT Services and IT Consulting is the top industry at 18.62%, and IT-related rows add up to 45.62%. 834 domains, 31.57% of the count, match no company. In a random sample of 50 domains I opened, 7 were hosting, VoIP or security firms and 6 were personal sites: a developer's portfolio, a radio hobbyist's blog, self-hosted servers. The big names are universities, Rutgers, Lund and Northern Arizona, plus Ulta Beauty, Eurostar, PizzaExpress and NTPC.
Sales signal: for hosting, VPS and managed-firewall vendors this is a good list. For enterprise security it isn't; filter to the 115 companies above 1,000 staff first.
A European user base
The United States has 449 matched companies, but Germany has 165 and the United Kingdom 136. The European countries in our table add up to 680. Germany, Austria and Switzerland reach 229, about half the American figure. On Wiz's page, Germany and Switzerland together come to 139 against 1,246 American companies.
Sales signal: German-speaking hosting and IT firms are over-represented here. A DACH campaign for server tooling has a usable list.
No switching to report
We publish no migration table for AbuseIPDB, and our checks found no overlap with another tracked tool large enough to quote. That fits the product: it's a free shared database that people use alongside firewalls and other feeds, not instead of them.
"Nobody leaves AbuseIPDB for a competitor. They stop running the server that reported to it, and the DNS record stays where it was." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: there's no displacement play here. Sell what sits next to it: blocklists, WAF rules and log analysis.
The stack around it
On the 2,649 clean domains, Cloudflare runs on 49.3% and Cloudflare Browser Insights on 20.42%, against 10.79% on Wiz's page. Google Analytics is on 51.38%, lower than on the other security pages, and Matomo (5.81%) and Plausible (2.23%) take up some of the rest. Consent banners are scarce: CookieYes leads on only 3.78%.
Sales signal: self-hosted, privacy-minded and technical. Developer-first products with self-hosted options will land better than enterprise suites.
What it costs
The pricing page keeps an Individual plan free, with 1,000 checks and reports a day. Basic costs $25 a month ($228 a year) for 10,000, Premium $99 a month ($1,068 a year) for 50,000, and Enterprise is quoted. Marathon Studios Inc. in Pennsylvania has run the service since March 2016, per its FAQ.
Sales signal: most verifiers stay free. The few who need more than 3,000 calls a day are running security products or large networks, and they're the paying minority.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses AbuseIPDB?
System administrators, hosting firms and IT service companies above all, plus universities and a handful of large businesses. Our October 2026 crawl finds the verification record on 2,642 domains; 1,808 match a company, and 42.57% of those have 1 to 10 staff. Named users include Ulta Beauty, Eurostar, PizzaExpress, NTPC, Forcepoint and Rutgers, Lund and Northern Arizona universities.
How many customers does AbuseIPDB have?
AbuseIPDB is free for most users, so customers is the wrong word. We count 2,642 domains in October 2026 whose owner verified them with AbuseIPDB, most likely to become a verified webmaster. Its codes are per account: on 15 October, 2,628 domains carried 2,552 different codes, so almost every domain is a separate user. Paid plans aren't visible in DNS.
What is AbuseIPDB's market share?
AbuseIPDB holds 2.06% of Security Testing & Compliance at TechnologyChecker.io, 7th of the 17 technologies we track, on 2,642 domains. Wiz (2,717) is just above and SpyCloud (2,355) just below. Those tools are counted the same way, from DNS verification records, but they're bought by different people, so the share compares verifiers rather than competitors.
What are the best alternatives to AbuseIPDB?
Other IP-reputation and threat-intelligence services: isMalicious publishes a direct comparison, and IPVoid turns up in the same searches. Our category table doesn't track them, because they leave no DNS record we detect. The tools ranked beside AbuseIPDB in our table, Have I Been Pwned, Detectify, Wiz and SpyCloud, do other jobs, from breach search to cloud security.
Which countries use AbuseIPDB the most?
The United States, with 449 matched companies, then Germany (165) and the United Kingdom (136). France (73), the Netherlands (67), Australia (63), Spain (61) and Italy (57) follow. The European countries in our table add up to 680, against 449 American companies, so AbuseIPDB is more European than most security tools in this category.
What size companies use AbuseIPDB?
Very small ones. Of matched companies with a known size, 42.57% have 1 to 10 employees and 25.64% have 11 to 50, so 68.21% have 50 or fewer. Only 115 have more than 1,000 staff, mostly universities plus companies such as Ulta Beauty, NTPC and Steel Dynamics. Another 834 domains match no company, many of them personal servers.
How old are companies that use AbuseIPDB?
Fairly young. The largest group was founded in the 2010s (31.78%), then the 2000s (25.6%) and 1990s (13.89%); 9.89% started in the 2020s and only 6.55% before 1960. The oldest rows are universities such as Siena (1240), Lund (1666) and Rutgers (1766). Typical users are IT and hosting firms from the last 25 years.
What is the ideal customer profile for AbuseIPDB?
On our data: an IT services, hosting or software business with 1 to 10 staff, founded in the 2010s, in the US, Germany or the UK, running its own servers, often behind Cloudflare (49.3%). Universities and public bodies are a second group. A third of domains don't match a company in our data, and in a sample many were individual sysadmins' and hobby servers.
What is the purpose of AbuseIPDB?
AbuseIPDB collects reports of IP addresses involved in spam, hacking attempts, DDoS attacks and other abuse, and lets anyone check an address against those reports. Its FAQ calls it a project to help system administrators and webmasters, with a free API for both reporting and checking. Firewalls and tools such as Fail2Ban can report attacking addresses to it automatically.
Is AbuseIPDB free?
Yes, for most users. The free Individual plan allows 1,000 checks and reports a day through the API, and verified webmasters get 3,000. Paid plans, per AbuseIPDB's pricing page, are Basic at $25 a month ($228 a year) for 10,000 a day and Premium at $99 a month ($1,068 a year) for 50,000; Enterprise is custom. Checked 15 October 2026.
Is AbuseIPDB trustworthy?
It's an established service: its FAQ says Marathon Studios Inc., based in Pennsylvania, has maintained it since March 2016. Its scores come from user reports, weighted by how many distinct users reported an address and how recently, with a small extra weight for verified webmasters. Reports can be wrong, so treat a score as evidence to check, not a verdict.
Does AbuseIPDB have an API?
Yes. AbuseIPDB's free API handles both checking and reporting IP addresses. Regular accounts get 1,000 requests a day, verified webmasters 3,000 and supporters 5,000, according to its FAQ, and the limits reset at midnight UTC. Paid plans raise it to 10,000 (Basic) or 50,000 (Premium) checks a day. The webmaster tier is what the DNS record on these domains unlocks.
Why do websites have an abuseipdb-verification TXT record?
Because the owner verified the domain with AbuseIPDB, usually to become a verified webmaster: 3,000 API requests a day instead of 1,000, and slightly more weight for their reports. The record stays in DNS after it has done its job. On 15 October 2026, 2,628 of the 2,649 domains in our clean set still carried it.
