Companies Using Blocky

Blocky is a name with too many owners. A self-hosted DNS blocker, a Shopify page-section app and a crypto token all use it, so I started by pinning down which product our rule sees. It matches scripts from blocky-app.com, and the Shopify version of that script carries the store's myshopify address while the Wix version opens a worker page titled "Blocky: Geolocation". That is the Blocky Fraud Filter IP Blocker app by Effective Apps. Our October 2026 crawl finds it on 2,506 live domains, 9th of 32 in Fraud Prevention. Here's what I found and what it means for a seller.

Does it still run?

I opened 60 random live domains in a browser. 45 rendered. On 32 of them the page asked Blocky for its script, and 23 got a working script back (20 Shopify, 3 Wix); two more Wix sites loaded Blocky's worker instead. Seven got an empty response, which reads as an inactive account or a site with nothing switched on. The other 13 made no Blocky request: a closed Shopify store, a Wix domain that needs reconnecting, a redirect to another site, a Cloudflare challenge, and stores that appear to have removed it since our crawl. Title checks across all 2,533 domains behind our charts find only 13 closed or password-protected stores, about 0.5%.

Sales signal: 25 of the 45 pages that rendered showed a working Blocky install. Treat the list as stores that bought the app, then confirm it's live before you pitch an add-on.

Stores, not hostnames

The script names the store, so I can count buyers. The 2,297 domains where the store id is readable belong to 1,774 stores, and 1,497 stores sit on one domain. No platform, agency or reseller runs Blocky under its own account across unrelated stores. The multi-domain stores are merchants with spare domains: Bombay Hair (24 across its US and Canadian stores), Confitex (13), Bowtastic (12) and Nightclub Signs (11). One oddity is worth knowing: 32 domains showed our crawler a "404 Error: Page Not Found" title, yet the four I fetched, all Wix sites, served their normal homepage to me. Wix's help center says Blocky sends a blocked visitor to a page of the owner's choice, so our crawler was probably blocked.

Sales signal: count about 1,800 buying decisions, and strip a merchant's alias domains before outreach.

Reading the trend

We began recognising Blocky in August 2026, and the chart rises from 1,892 domains in August to 2,506 in October. I don't read that as growth. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, dead sites out and new ones in, and the signals we detect Blocky with have widened. Exits are measurable: 766 domains dropped Blocky on at least one hostname since 4 August 2026, and about 211 of those still run it on another hostname.

Sales signal: a store that dropped Blocky in the last 90 days may have closed, moved platform or switched apps. Check that the store still trades before pitching a replacement.

Who buys it

70.46% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 20.16% have 11 to 50, so 90.62% have 50 or fewer staff. Only 10 have more than 500. The larger names use it on a single store: Big Boy on its merchandise shop, SkinSpirit on its product shop, Musora on its shop subdomain. Charlotte Russe carries it on its main site. 69.52% of matched companies were founded in 2010 or later. Effective Apps also makes the Effective Apps Terms and Conditions Checkbox, and Big Boy runs that app too.

Sales signal: the buyer is the store owner, often the only person running the shop. Pitch tools that save time or cut chargebacks.

Which trades and countries

Retail leads at 12.08%, then apparel (7.39%), manufacturing (3.59%) and construction (3.29%); the three retail rows together hold 21.97%. The non-retail rows are mostly Wix brochure sites, where Blocky keeps out spam and unwanted regions. The United States has 674 matched companies, the United Kingdom 115, Canada 66 and Australia 51.

Sales signal: for chargeback, shipping-restriction or geo-pricing tools, US and UK apparel stores on this list have already shown they care which countries reach their checkout.

Next to order screening

We have no switching data for Blocky, and its category neighbours do different jobs. ClickCease (33,001 domains) and Fraud Blocker (5,113) screen ad clicks; Blocky decides who sees the store. The overlap that matters is with order scoring: 38 Blocky domains run NoFraud today, of 56 ever seen with both, and 14 run Signifyd, of 19.

Sales signal: the 38 domains running both have a fraud budget beyond a $20 app. They are the best-qualified prospects here for order screening or chargeback services.

The stack around it

Of the 2,533 domains behind our charts, Shopify carries 68.57% and Wix 31.58%. Google Analytics runs on 71.18%, Pinterest Ads on 18.4% and DoubleClick Floodlight on 18.12%. Instafeed (12.4%), Hextom (4.58%) and AVADA (4.38%) are the common other Shopify apps.

Sales signal: Shopify app developers can treat Blocky stores as small merchants who already pay for several apps.

What it costs

Blocky's Shopify listing, read on 15 October 2026, shows Basic at $9.99 a month for country blocking, Advanced at $16.99 with IP blocking, and Pro at $19.99 with customer, VPN and bot blocking; yearly billing saves about 30%. It is rated 4.7 from 359 reviews and carries Built for Shopify status. The Wix listing has a free plan and a 4.8 rating from 703 reviews.

Sales signal: at these prices Blocky is a self-serve purchase. Its buyers expect free trials and month-to-month terms.
