Companies Using Blogger

I expected Blogger to be the quiet end of our blogging data, a tool people stopped using years ago. Our October 2026 crawl says otherwise: 63,680 live domains after cleanup, 2nd of 31 technologies in Blogging & Syndication. But a Blogger domain isn't one thing. A domain counts here if its pages carry Blogger's generator tag, load scripts from www.blogger.com or resources.blogblog.com, reference Blogger's image host blogger.googleusercontent.com in a script, or sit on a blogspot.com address. Those four signals catch very different sites, so I split the count before reading anything into it.

What the 63,680 is made of

34,408 are blogspot.com addresses. Blogger gives every blog one for free, and we count each address as its own domain, so a hobby blog at someone.blogspot.com weighs the same as a company's news site. The other 29,272 are Blogger blogs on a domain of their own, and about 2,600 of those run on a subdomain, 1,600 of them on a blog. subdomain. Every company, size and country figure on this page comes from that second group. None of the blogspot.com addresses matched a company.

What we took out

Our crawl found 70,872 live domains, and 7,192 of them are not on this page. 4,171 carried a for-sale or gambling title and 815 were copies of another site's pages. The rest came from opening pages. In a random sample of 100 of the remaining domains, 78 served a working Blogger site (Indonesian news portals, a Norwegian builder, a solicitor in London, school pages in Brazil), 6 were gambling pages and 6 were spam blogs. Five of the gambling pages weren't Blogger blogs at all: Indonesian slot and lottery landers on expired domains that pull banners from Blogger's image host, which the script signal picks up. So I opened all 31,760 custom-domain homepages and removed 2,490 gambling, piracy, parked and porn pages, among them a Turkish football-streaming network that hops between numbered .cfd and .xyz domains.

Sales Signal: even after cleanup, check a Blogger domain still serves a blog before outreach. Of the custom-domain homepages left, 1,922 loaded without Blogger's code and 2,138 didn't respond to us.

Growth

The cleaned count starts in October 2026, so the chart has one point. Our raw monthly totals roughly doubled between August and September, and that was coverage: 34,195 of today's 34,408 blogspot.com addresses were first seen after mid-August. Our detection also picked up more custom-domain blogs in the same weeks, and the domains we crawl turn over every month as dead sites drop out and new ones come in. None of it is a burst of new bloggers. 4,983 domains dropped Blogger since we began tracking it in March 2026, and 528 of them still run it on another hostname.

Sales Signal: size Blogger as a stable pool of tens of thousands of small sites. Don't pitch it internally as a growth market.

Who runs it

Small and young. 77.65% of matched companies have 1 to 10 staff, and 72.76% were founded in 2010 or later. The top of the company list is job-alert portals: jawatan.net in Malaysia, govtjobsportal.in in India, sitevagasempregos.com in Brazil, wazaefsaudi.com in Saudi Arabia. Their LinkedIn pages have big followings, and a few claim more than 10,000 staff, so the 83 companies above 1,000 staff overstate the enterprise tail. The real large organisations use Blogger for one property: Girl Scouts of the USA's blog, Woodland Park Zoo's blog, USU News at the Uniformed Services University, Teledyne LeCroy's "Test Happens" blog, SCS Software's studio blog.

Sales Signal: at a large account, the Blogger owner is a comms or marketing team running a news or blog subdomain. That team buys content and migration help, not infrastructure.

Where the blogs are

The United States leads with 1,449 matched companies, but India (1,033), Brazil (769) and Indonesia (596) together hold 2,398. Spain has 265, the United Kingdom 251 and Bangladesh 79. Blogger's free hosting and built-in AdSense fit markets where a small publisher wants income without a hosting bill, and most of the job portals on our list sit in them.

Sales Signal: ad networks and template sellers will find more Blogger publishers in India, Brazil and Indonesia than in the US, and a buyer who has already shown they won't pay for hosting.

Rivals and switching

Blogger barely overlaps with the other blog hosts in our table. Today 20 domains run it alongside Tumblr, 4 alongside Medium, and one each with Substack and Beehiiv. Over the whole tracking period only 26 domains ever ran Blogger and Tumblr together and 7 Blogger and Medium. None of those pairs passes our switching tests, so we show no migration table.

Sales Signal: there's no corridor to intercept. A migration offer has to target the custom-domain owner who wants out of Blogger's templates, and nothing in our data names a favourite destination.

The stack around it

Google owns this stack. AdSense runs on 73.97% of the 63,680 clean live domains, Funding Choices on 8.82% and Google Analytics on 30.77%. Blogger's about page pitches AdSense as the way to get paid for posting. Statcounter (1.36%) and Histats (1.26%) still turn up, and WordPress appears on 1.5%. Sales Signal: an ad network or consent vendor can treat this list as AdSense publishers. Anyone selling a paid analytics tool will struggle against 30.77% on a free one.

What it costs

Wikipedia lists registration as free and notes that Pyra Labs built Blogger before Google bought it in 2003. Blogger's about page offers a free blogspot.com address or a custom domain you buy, so the domain is the only bill. Blogger allows up to 100 blogs per account, per the same Wikipedia entry.
