Companies Using HPE GreenLake
Our October 2026 crawl finds 1,813 domains with an HPE GreenLake verification record in their DNS. HPE asks for that record when an organisation claims a domain in GreenLake cloud, and a claimed domain is what single sign-on into GreenLake needs, so the count is organisations that set up SSO for HPE's cloud console; the contracts themselves leave no trace we can read. Below is the list of companies that use HPE GreenLake, with size, country and industry: Accenture, AXA, SAP, Unilever and Ericsson are on it.
The organisations are big and old. 39.35% of matched companies with a known size have more than 1,000 staff, and the largest age group, 34.08%, was founded before 1960. Universities, schools, government bodies and hospitals make up 20.82% of the matched companies. GreenLake ranks 7th of 19 in Cloud Infrastructure with a 0.25% share. The 1,813 leaves out 171 domains: 164 whose records only happen to contain the letters "hpe-" and 7 that copy another company's DNS (see How We Counted).

HPE GreenLake Usage Statistics
The chart has one point, 1,813 domains in October 2026, because our earlier monthly totals still include the 171 look-alike records removed on this page. Later months won't be a like-for-like series: the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widens. The record is sticky. Since 18 March 2026, 34 domains have dropped it, and 4 of those still carry it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use HPE GreenLake the Most?
Which countries use HPE GreenLake the most? The United States, with 614 matched companies, then Australia (154), the United Kingdom (135), Canada (105), the Netherlands (84) and Germany (76). Australia's second place is the surprise; 43 of the 1,813 domains are school and university domains under .edu.au. France (55), Belgium (41), Switzerland (38), New Zealand (34) and Norway (32) follow, based on our enriched company data.
Share of the 1,662 HPE GreenLake domains we matched to a company record — 91.7% of the 1,813 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
HPE GreenLake Market Share Among Cloud Infrastructure
What is HPE GreenLake's market share? 0.25% of Cloud Infrastructure, 7th of the 19 technologies we track there, on 1,813 domains at TechnologyChecker.io. Don't read it as GreenLake's share of hybrid cloud. Amazon S3 leads the category with 625,656 domains (84.7%), but that row counts websites using S3 storage, while ours counts organisations that verified a domain for GreenLake sign-in. AWS Outposts and Dell APEX, the rivals TechTarget sets it against, have no row.

Public bodies using HPE GreenLake include Queensland Health, the State of California and UCLA, each with its own verified domain.
HPE GreenLake Alternatives & Competitors
The rows in this table aren't GreenLake's competitors. Amazon S3 (84.7%), DigitalOcean Spaces (5.82%) and Google Cloud Storage (3.8%) are storage services seen on websites. Parallels (0.13%) is the closest row, also counted from a domain record for single sign-on, and 28 GreenLake domains carry Parallels' record too. GreenLake's real rivals in on-premises cloud, such as AWS Outposts and Dell APEX in TechTarget's comparison, leave no DNS record we track.

How We Counted HPE GreenLake Customers
HPE's record is hpe-greenlake-domain-verification followed by a 64-character code, published in a domain's DNS when the domain is claimed in GreenLake cloud. Our detection rule is looser: it matches any TXT record containing "hpe-", and it ignores capital letters. In October 2026, 1,987 live domains passed it; our title filter removed 3.
On 16 October 2026 we re-read every remaining domain's TXT records and removed 171 that aren't GreenLake claims. 164 matched only because another record happens to contain those four characters: 154 Google site-verification codes (random strings such as "…dchpe-W…"), 3 GlobalSign records, an SPF line, a monday.com record, Mandrill and SFMC strings, two bare random tokens and shpe-dfw.org's mail records. The other 7 are Chinese novel-piracy sites whose DNS copies funko.com's entire set of TXT records, including Funko's GreenLake code; funko.com itself stays in the count.
Every chart and table on this page uses the remaining 1,813. 1,805 of them carried a GreenLake record when we re-read them; the other 8 had no record on that check, and stay in the count until the next crawl confirms it. Codes are almost always one per claimed domain, and the few shared codes are one organisation's own aliases. Monthly totals made before this correction include the 171, which is why the usage chart starts in October 2026.
Expert Analysis: HPE GreenLake Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

HPE GreenLake doesn't show up in a website's code, so we read it from DNS. A domain counts on this page when its TXT records carry hpe-greenlake-domain-verification, and our October 2026 crawl finds that on 1,813 domains, 1,662 of them matched to a company. Getting there took a cleanup. The detection rule looks for any TXT record containing "hpe-", and when I had every domain's records re-read on 16 October 2026, 171 had no GreenLake record at all, only other strings that happen to contain those four characters.
What the record proves
HPE's GreenLake cloud user guide says that before a domain can be used in an organisation's SSO setup, it "must be claimed, added to your Domain Name System (DNS) server, then verified by GreenLake cloud". Each domain can be claimed by only one GreenLake organisation. GreenLake cloud is the console for HPE's as-a-service products, which TechTarget describes as HPE-managed hardware and software in the customer's own data centre, billed on metered use. So a record means an organisation set up single sign-on into that console. It doesn't tell you what it buys there, or whether it still does.
Sales signal: don't read the list as a count of current GreenLake customers. The firm fact is that an IT team connected its identity provider to HPE's cloud, a step an organisation usually takes once its staff are using the console.
A sticky record
The usage chart has a single point for now, 1,813 in October 2026, because our earlier monthly totals still include the look-alike records. Future months will move partly because the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and partly because our detection widens. The record itself hardly changes. Since we began tracking it on 18 March 2026, 34 domains dropped it, and 4 of those still carry it on another hostname. On re-check, 1,805 of the 1,813 still had it.
"A GreenLake record is a domain an HPE customer wired into single sign-on. It shows the organisation set up HPE's cloud console, and it almost never gets cleaned up." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: a record that disappears is rare enough to act on. A record that stays tells you who once set up the console, not who renewed this year.
Who claims a domain
This is an enterprise and public-sector list. 39.35% of matched companies with a known size have more than 1,000 staff, 650 of 1,652, and 176 have more than 10,000. On the Parallels page, another single sign-on record in this category, the same share is 20.55%. Age is the clearest marker: 34.08% of matched companies were founded before 1960, and only 3.08% in the 2020s. The names read like an index of old industry: Unilever, Ericsson, Nokia, Rio Tinto, BP, Honeywell and Lowe's.
Sales signal: the contact is the central IT team that administers HPE's cloud console. Find out which HPE services it runs there before you pitch.
Industries and countries
IT Services and IT Consulting leads at 8.42%, but the public sector is the bigger story. Higher Education (5.16%), Government Administration (4.48%), Hospitals and Health Care (4.36%), Primary and Secondary Education (3.93%) and Education Administration (2.89%) add up to 20.82%. By country, the United States has 614 matched companies and Australia 154, ahead of the United Kingdom (135). 43 of the 1,813 domains are schools and universities under .edu.au.
Sales signal: Australian education and US state and local government are concentrated, reachable segments here. Queensland Health and the State of California are two of the larger public names.
The Microsoft estate around it
Across the 1,813 clean domains, Microsoft 365 runs on 54.38% and Google Workspace on 6.56%. On the Parallels page Google Workspace is on 27.67%, so GreenLake's organisations are much more Microsoft-centred. The Apple iCloud Mail row (62.66%) mostly counts Apple Business's verification record, which sat on 1,126 of the 1,804 domains I re-read; Jamf's record was on 275 and Atlassian's on 798. The websites run WordPress (36.85%), Drupal (8.94%) and, at the large end, Adobe Experience Manager (4.08%).
Sales signal: Entra ID is the likely identity provider behind the GreenLake sign-in, and a Microsoft-centred estate around it. That's useful context for anyone selling identity, endpoint or Microsoft services into this list.
No switching to report
We publish no migration table for GreenLake: nothing passes our switching tests, and the record barely churns. The category table isn't much help either. Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces and Google Cloud Storage are storage seen on websites, and GreenLake's on-premises rivals, AWS Outposts and Dell APEX, leave no DNS record we track. The closest row is Parallels, also counted from a single sign-on record (Docker and IBM Cloud are counted from their own domain-verification records), and 28 GreenLake domains carry Parallels' record too.
"Hybrid-cloud contracts don't leave a footprint on a website. The sign-in record is the closest thing to a customer list you can read from outside." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: displacement can't be seen from outside here. Use the record to find organisations with an HPE relationship, then qualify their on-site footprint and renewal date directly.
Key takeaways
- 1,813 domains carry HPE's GreenLake domain-verification record in October 2026, after removing 171 look-alike records.
- The record means a domain was claimed for single sign-on into GreenLake cloud; it isn't a count of current customers.
- 39.35% of matched companies have more than 1,000 staff, and 34.08% were founded before 1960.
- Education, government and health make up 20.82%; Australia ranks second by country, with 154 matched companies.
- Microsoft 365 runs on 54.38% of these domains, Google Workspace on 6.56%.
Sales applications
Outreach template: "Your team claimed [domain] in HPE GreenLake cloud for single sign-on. We work with organisations running GreenLake alongside Microsoft 365 on [problem]. Worth 20 minutes?"
Targeting: filter this list to 1,000+ employees in education, government and health, then split by country: the US first, Australia second.
Competitive angle: for public-cloud and colocation sellers, these are organisations with an HPE relationship run through GreenLake cloud; confirm what they run on site before leading with total cost at renewal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses HPE GreenLake?
Mostly large, long-established organisations: multinationals, universities, councils and hospitals. Our October 2026 crawl finds HPE's GreenLake domain-verification record on 1,813 domains, 1,662 of them matched to a company. 39.35% of those with a known size have more than 1,000 staff. Named examples include Accenture, AXA, SAP, Unilever, Ericsson, Lowe's and TD Bank.
How many customers does HPE GreenLake have?
We can't count GreenLake contracts. We count 1,813 domains in October 2026 carrying the record an organisation adds when it claims a domain for single sign-on into GreenLake cloud. The codes are almost all one per domain, so that's roughly 1,800 domain claims; one organisation can claim several, and some will belong to lapsed customers.
What is HPE GreenLake's market share?
0.25% of Cloud Infrastructure at TechnologyChecker.io, 7th of the 19 technologies we track there, on 1,813 domains. It isn't a share of hybrid cloud. The category is led by Amazon S3 with 625,656 domains, counted from websites that use S3 storage, while GreenLake is counted from a single sign-on DNS record. Its on-premises rivals, AWS Outposts and Dell APEX, have no row.
What are the best alternatives to HPE GreenLake?
TechTarget compares GreenLake with AWS Outposts as two ways to get cloud-style capacity in your own data centre, and names Dell APEX among HPE's competitors with usage-based bundles. None of those has a row in our category table, whose neighbours are storage services such as Amazon S3 and DigitalOcean Spaces. Our data can't measure the on-premises rivals, because they leave no DNS record we track.
Which countries use HPE GreenLake the most?
The United States, with 614 matched companies, then Australia (154), the United Kingdom (135), Canada (105), the Netherlands (84) and Germany (76). Australia's showing is unusual; 43 of the 1,813 domains are school and university domains under .edu.au. France (55), Belgium (41), Switzerland (38) and New Zealand (34) follow.
What size companies use HPE GreenLake?
Large ones. The biggest band is 1,001 to 5,000 employees (22.76% of matched companies with a known size), and 39.35% have more than 1,000 staff; 176 companies have more than 10,000. Only 13.14% have 50 or fewer. That's the profile of organisations with a central IT team that runs HPE's cloud console.
How old are companies that use HPE GreenLake?
Old, by the standards of any cloud product we track. The largest group, 34.08% of matched companies, was founded before 1960, and only 3.08% in the 2020s. The record sits on Unilever (1872), Ericsson (1876), Nokia (1865) and Rio Tinto (1873), alongside universities and public bodies. Expect established IT departments.
What is the ideal customer profile for HPE GreenLake?
On our data, an organisation with more than 1,000 staff (39.35% of matched companies), often founded before 1960, in IT services, education, government or health, based in the United States, Australia or the UK. It runs Microsoft 365 (54.38% of domains) and has an identity provider ready for single sign-on into HPE's cloud console.
What is HPE GreenLake?
HPE describes GreenLake as its cloud for hybrid IT: one platform to run and manage infrastructure in the customer's data centre, at the edge and in public clouds. Hardware that HPE installs on site and bills on metered use is sold as GreenLake Flex Solution, according to HPE and TechTarget's January 2026 explainer. GreenLake cloud is also the console for services such as HPE Aruba Networking Central and Compute Ops Management, and claiming a domain there is where the DNS record we count comes in.
How much does HPE GreenLake cost?
HPE doesn't publish a price list. TechTarget's January 2026 explainer says GreenLake fees track metered usage, a minimum commitment still applies, and HPE negotiates pricing with each organisation. Expect a quote based on capacity and term rather than a list price. Our data can't see contract values, only the 1,813 domains verified for GreenLake sign-in.
What is the hpe-greenlake-domain-verification TXT record?
It's the DNS record GreenLake cloud generates when an organisation claims a domain. HPE's user guide says a domain must be claimed, added to DNS and verified before it can be used in the organisation's SSO setup, and each domain can be claimed by only one GreenLake organisation. Our crawl reads that record. It says nothing about the company's website.
Does a GreenLake DNS record mean a company still uses HPE GreenLake?
Not with certainty. The record proves the domain was claimed for single sign-on into GreenLake cloud, and nothing breaks if it stays after a contract ends. It's stable, though: 1,805 of the 1,813 domains still carried it when we re-read them on 16 October 2026, and only 34 have dropped it since March. Read it as organisations that once claimed a domain in HPE's console, not as a count of current customers.
Is HP the same company as HPE?
No. HPE's own support pages note the 1 November 2015 separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. GreenLake is HPE's. Even so, hp.com, HP Inc.'s domain, carries a GreenLake verification record in our October 2026 crawl, alongside 1,812 other domains, so HP Inc. claimed a domain in HPE's cloud console.
