Companies Using Google Cloud Storage

Our October 2026 crawl finds 28,085 live domains whose pages are served straight from a Google Cloud Storage bucket. We count a site when its page arrives with the x-goog-storage-class header, which Cloud Storage adds to the files it serves. Sites that only pull images or downloads from storage.googleapis.com don't count, so this is a count of sites hosted on Cloud Storage, not of every Cloud Storage customer. Read the list of companies that use Google Cloud Storage with one more fact in mind: about half of these sites (14,337 domains) are State Farm agents' own-domain sites, served from Cloud Storage by one website platform.

The other half is mixed. Mondelez International, Nova Poshta and Wave serve their main sites from a bucket, and TSMC its research site. Many large retailers and banks appear through store and branch locators built with Yext, such as KFC's, Cartier's and Lloyds Bank's. Google Cloud Storage ranks 3rd of 19 in Cloud Infrastructure with 3.42% of the category.

Google Cloud Storage Usage Statistics

Google Cloud Storage read 19,498 domains in June 2026, then 23,040 in July, 26,268 in August, 27,870 in September and 28,085 in October. The monthly gain shrank from 3,542 to 215. Part of any month-to-month change is on our side: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. Read the curve as levelling off. Since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, 1,646 domains have dropped it.

List of Companies Using Google Cloud Storage

Our list of companies using Google Cloud Storage names 50 of the 16,498 matched companies, ranked by LinkedIn following. Each page arrived with Cloud Storage's header when we loaded it in October 2026. 27 of the 50 are store, branch or office locators built with Yext, so for most big brands here Cloud Storage holds one locator site, not the company's whole web presence. The websites using Google Cloud Storage for a main or product site include mondelezinternational.com, novaposhta.ua, wave.com and Aston Martin's car configurator.

Google Cloud Storage Market Share Among Cloud Infrastructure

What is Google Cloud Storage's market share? 3.42% of Cloud Infrastructure, 3rd of 19, on 28,085 domains in our October 2026 crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. Amazon S3 leads with 707,535 domains (86.23%) and DigitalOcean Spaces is second with 42,981. The three rules don't measure the same thing. Ours for Cloud Storage needs the page itself to come from a bucket, while the S3 profile also counts files and scripts loaded from S3 and the Spaces profile counts images, so the shares aren't like for like.

Google Cloud Storage Customers by Company Size & Age

What size companies use Google Cloud Storage? 70.12% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 23.98% have 11 to 50, and the State Farm agencies push both bands up. Outside that fleet, 4,904 of the 7,520 companies with a known size (65.2%) have 1 to 10 staff. The larger bands barely move: 533 companies have 51 to 200 employees in both counts, and 147 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (40.53%), then the 2020s (36.84%) and the 2000s (11.44%). Only 2.21% were founded before 1960. Several of those, such as TSB (1812) and Cartier (1847), reach Cloud Storage through a branch or store locator rather than their main site.

What Industries Use Google Cloud Storage the Most?

Insurance is 51.22% of matched companies, 7,499 of them, and nearly all of that is the State Farm fleet, based on our enriched company data. Take the fleet out and the ranking looks like a developer tool's: Software Development (823 companies), Marketing Services (543), Technology, Information and Internet (522), Advertising Services (465) and IT Services and IT Consulting (424). Marketing and advertising agencies together are 1,008 of the 7,797 matched companies outside the fleet, or 12.9%.

Insurance agencies using Google Cloud Storage are almost all State Farm agents, with sites such as samq.net and kga.info served from a bucket. Banks using Google Cloud Storage mostly show up through branch locators: Lloyds Bank, Halifax, TSB and AIB all serve their branch finders from Cloud Storage. Retailers on Google Cloud Storage follow the same pattern with store pages for KFC, Michael Kors and Albertsons, while Mondelez International serves its corporate site that way.

Google Cloud Storage Alternatives & Competitors

Amazon S3 dominates this table with 707,535 domains (86.23%), and DigitalOcean Spaces (42,981) and Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (12,639) are the other ranked services. They share sites more often than they replace each other. 412 domains run Cloud Storage and Amazon S3 today, 659 pair it with Firebase and only 7 with DigitalOcean Spaces. None of those pairs passed our switching tests.

Tech Stack of Google Cloud Storage-Powered Websites

These shares are of the 27,963 live domains left after removing for-sale and gambling pages. Mirus shows up on 51.26%, which is the State Farm agent platform again, and the same fleet lifts Adobe Analytics (45.27%) and Invoca (37.4%). Cloudflare sits in front of 33.22% and Google Cloud CDN 16.69%, which fits Google's own guide: Cloud Storage can't serve a custom domain over HTTPS by itself, so something has to sit in front for HTTPS. Nuxt.js (7.18%) and Next.js (4.05%) are the most common frameworks.

Expert Analysis: Google Cloud Storage Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Emma Davies
Emma DaviesData Analyst, TechnologyChecker

Google Cloud Storage is a big product and this is a narrow page, so I'll start with what we count. A domain counts when its page arrives with the x-goog-storage-class header, which Cloud Storage sets on the files it serves. In practice that means the site's HTML lives in a bucket: a static site, usually behind a Google load balancer, Cloud CDN or Cloudflare. Apps that keep data, backups or images in Cloud Storage but serve their pages from somewhere else don't count. Our October 2026 crawl finds 28,085 live domains that pass, 16,498 matched to a company, 3rd of 19 in Cloud Infrastructure.

Half of it is one insurer's agents

14,337 of the 28,294 domains live when we checked in October (50.7%) are also detected on a website platform we label Mirus, and 12,681 of those carry "State Farm" in the page title. They're agents' own-domain sites, such as samq.net for an agent in Michigan and kga.info for one in Mission, Kansas. I opened eight of them, six picked at random. Every one came from a bucket with the storage header, and every one loads its images and scripts from mirus.io, the domain of Mirus Research, a software developer in Normal, Illinois. This one fleet drives three of our charts. It's why Insurance is 51.22% of industries, and why Adobe Analytics (45.27%) and Invoca (37.4%) sit so high in the stack.

Sales signal: treat the 14,337 as a single account. Anything sold into those sites is bought by the platform and the insurer behind it, not by 14,000 agents.

Locators at the top of the list

Big brands reach this list another way. 27 of the 50 companies named below appear through a store, branch or office locator built with Yext: KFC's restaurant finder, Lloyds Bank's, Halifax's and TSB's branch pages, Cartier's boutique finder, and the store pages of Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco and Shaw's. Yext's code is on the page, and Cloud Storage serves it. Across all matched companies with more than 1,000 staff, 32 of 147 are detected on a locator-style subdomain such as locations., local., stores. or branches.

Sales signal: for those brands, Cloud Storage holds one locator site that a vendor built, not the corporate web estate. Anything you'd pitch "for their GCS sites" goes to the local-search team, or to Yext.

Growth is levelling off

The chart reads 19,498 domains in June, 23,040 in July, 26,268 in August, 27,870 in September and 28,085 in October. Monthly gains fell from 3,542 to 3,228, then 1,602, then 215. Two things on our side move this line: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month as dead sites drop out and new ones are found, and our detection signals widen over time. So I read it as a curve that has flattened. On its own it says little about demand.

"Half the sites we see served from Cloud Storage belong to one insurer's agents. If you're building a Cloud Storage prospect list, take them out first." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: expect a stable pool of about 28,000 domains rather than a fast-growing one, and refresh lists monthly, since 1,646 domains have dropped Cloud Storage since 16 March 2026.

The rest of the base

Outside the fleet, 13,957 domains remain and 7,797 of them match a company. That group looks like a developer tool's audience. Software Development leads with 823 companies, then Marketing Services (543), Technology, Information and Internet (522), Advertising Services (465) and IT Services and IT Consulting (424). Marketing and advertising agencies make up 1,008 of the 7,797 (12.9%), and I'd expect many of them to host static sites for clients. 4,904 of the 7,520 with a known size (65.2%) have 1 to 10 staff and 1,673 have 11 to 50. Nearly every matched company above 50 staff sits outside the fleet: the 51 to 200 band holds 533 companies in both counts.

Sales signal: once the fleet is gone, this is a list of small software firms and agencies that run their own static hosting. Static-site tooling, headless CMSs and form backends fit them.

How a bucket reaches the web

Google's static website guide says Cloud Storage can't serve a custom domain over HTTPS by itself, so it pairs a bucket with an external Application Load Balancer. Our stack data shows another route. 33.22% of live Cloud Storage domains also show Cloudflare and 16.69% Google Cloud CDN. Frameworks that can export static files lead the framework list, with Nuxt.js on 7.18% and Next.js on 4.05%, and WordPress is on 5.36%. Firebase, Google's other static host, is on 2.36% and Amazon Web Services on 2.34%.

Sales signal: domains that show neither Cloudflare nor Cloud CDN in our data are the natural prospects for CDN and edge-security vendors.

Overlap, not migration

None of the rival pairs passed our switching tests. 659 domains run Cloud Storage and Firebase today, 412 run it with Amazon S3, 50 with GitHub Pages and 7 with DigitalOcean Spaces. For each pair, either most domains ever seen with both still run both, or the flow ran about evenly both ways. Churn is low against the base. 1,646 domains have dropped Cloud Storage since March 2026, and when I rechecked, 86 of the 1,650 on that list by then still served pages from a bucket on another hostname.

"Firebase and S3 sit beside Cloud Storage on hundreds of sites, and none of those pairs looks like customers leaving one for the other." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: a pitch built on "Cloud Storage customers are leaving" has no support in our data. Sell into the stack rather than against it.

Reading the market share

Cloud Storage's 3.42% puts it behind Amazon S3 (707,535 domains, 86.23%) and DigitalOcean Spaces (42,981). The rules differ. The S3 profile counts a site when its pages or files come from S3, when it loads a script from an S3 address, or when its security policy allows S3. The Spaces profile counts public images. Ours for Cloud Storage needs the page itself to come from a bucket, the narrowest of the three.

Sales signal: quote these shares only with the rules beside them. They aren't a like-for-like comparison of the three services.

What it costs

Google's pricing page (checked 11 October 2026) lists Standard storage in US regions at $0.000027397 per GiB per hour, about $0.02 a month, with internet data transfer from $0.12 per GB. The Always Free tier covers 5 GB-months of Standard storage, 5,000 Class A and 50,000 Class B operations a month in us-west1, us-central1 and us-east1. So a 1 GB site costs about two cents a month to store, and serving 10 GB of it to the internet costs $1.20 at that rate.

Sales signal: storage is a rounding error for these sites. Any pitch on price should go after transfer and load-balancer spend instead.

Key takeaways

1. 28,085 live domains whose pages come from a bucket, 3rd of 19. It's a narrow rule, not a customer count.

2. About half (14,337 domains) are State Farm agent sites on one platform.

3. 27 of the 50 named companies appear through Yext-built locators.

4. Outside the fleet, small software firms and agencies, 65.2% with 1 to 10 staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses Google Cloud Storage?

In our crawl, mostly State Farm agents. About half of the 28,085 sites whose pages come straight from a Cloud Storage bucket are agents' own-domain sites on one platform. The rest include software firms and marketing agencies, Yext-built store locators for brands like KFC, Cartier and Lloyds Bank, and main sites such as Mondelez International's and Nova Poshta's.

How many customers does Google Cloud Storage have?

We can't say, because our rule sees only one use of it. We count a site when its page is served from a bucket, which gave 28,085 domains in October 2026, 16,498 of them matched to a company. Companies that keep backups, data or images in Cloud Storage without serving pages from it don't appear, so this is a floor for one use, not a customer count.

What is Google Cloud Storage's market share?

3.42% of Cloud Infrastructure, 3rd of 19, on 28,085 domains in our October 2026 crawl. Amazon S3 leads with 86.23% and DigitalOcean Spaces is second. Read the gap with care: our S3 rule also counts files and scripts loaded from S3, and the Spaces rule counts images, while the Cloud Storage rule needs the page itself to come from a bucket.

What are the best alternatives to Google Cloud Storage?

For serving a static site, the usual alternatives are Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces and Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service, or a static host such as Firebase or GitHub Pages. Our crawl finds them used side by side: 659 domains run Cloud Storage with Firebase today, 412 with Amazon S3 and 50 with GitHub Pages. None of those pairs passed our tests for switching.

Which countries use Google Cloud Storage the most?

The United States, with 12,274 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (489), Canada (325), India (323), Australia (254) and Brazil (252). The US lead is inflated by the State Farm agent sites, which belong to American agencies. These counts cover the 16,498 Cloud Storage domains we matched to a company in our October 2026 crawl, out of 28,085 live domains.

What size companies use Google Cloud Storage?

Small ones, mostly. 70.12% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 23.98% have 11 to 50. The State Farm agencies are a big part of both bands. Outside that fleet, 65.2% have 1 to 10 staff (4,904 of 7,520). 147 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff, often through a single store-locator site.

How old are companies that use Google Cloud Storage?

Fairly young. Among matched companies with a known founding year, 40.53% were founded in the 2010s, 36.84% in the 2020s and 11.44% in the 2000s. Only 2.21% were founded before 1960, and several of those, such as TSB (1812) and Cartier (1847), reach Cloud Storage through a Yext-built branch or store locator rather than their main site.

What is the ideal customer profile for Google Cloud Storage?

The ideal Google Cloud Storage customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees (70.12%), Location: United States, then UK, Canada and India, Founded: 2010s (40.53%), then 2020s, Industry: Insurance agencies, then software and agencies, Typical site: Static site from a bucket, often behind Cloudflare — based on our analysis of 16,498 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.

Who are Google Cloud's biggest customers?

For Cloud Storage site hosting, the biggest names in our October 2026 crawl include Mondelez International and Nova Poshta, which serve their main sites from a bucket, plus TSMC's research site, Vertex Pharmaceuticals' clinical trials site and Global Payments' account pages. KFC, Cartier and Lloyds Bank appear through Yext store and branch locators. This page doesn't cover other Google Cloud services.

How do I know if I'm using Google Cloud?

For Cloud Storage, check a page's response headers. A page served from a bucket carries x-goog-storage-class, usually with x-goog-generation and a server line reading UploadServer, unless a CDN such as Cloudflare replaces that line. The storage-class header is exactly what our crawl looks for. Images loaded from storage.googleapis.com also mean Cloud Storage, but our rule doesn't count those.

What is the Google Cloud Storage equivalent of S3?

Cloud Storage is Google's counterpart to Amazon S3. Both keep files as objects in buckets, and both can serve a static website. Google's Cloud Storage docs include a guide to migrating from Amazon S3. In our October 2026 crawl, 412 domains run both today, and none of the movement between them passed our switching tests, so most of those sites use the two together.

How much is Cloud Storage for a website?

Storing the files costs very little. Google's pricing page lists Standard storage in US regions at $0.000027397 per GiB per hour, about $0.02 a month, and internet data transfer from $0.12 per GB. The Always Free tier covers 5 GB-months of Standard storage in us-west1, us-central1 and us-east1. HTTPS on a custom domain also needs a load balancer, per Google's guide.

How do you host a static website on Google Cloud Storage?

Upload the site's files to a public bucket, put an external Application Load Balancer with an SSL certificate in front of it, and point your domain's A record at the load balancer, following Google's guide. Cloud Storage can't serve a custom domain over HTTPS on its own. In our crawl, 33.22% of Cloud Storage domains also show Cloudflare and 16.69% Google Cloud CDN.
