Companies Using Hyva Themes

Most of the tools I profile are counted from a script tag, which anyone can paste anywhere. Hyvä is different. Its theme module adds an x-built-with: Hyva Themes header to every front-end page it renders, and the comment in its header plugin says removing or altering it breaks Hyvä's terms of use. So a domain on this page is a Magento 2 store whose own server said it runs Hyvä. Our October 2026 crawl finds 6,689 such domains, 3,652 matched to a company. I re-checked a random 120 on 16 October: 114 still served Hyvä, 4 sat behind bot walls, 1 no longer resolved and 1 Belgian pharmacy shop loaded without the marker.

Domains, stores and fleets

The header is reliable. The domain count still overstates stores. 30 of those 120 domains forwarded to another domain, usually a brand's main store. Some owners run whole fleets. A French appliance retail network has 131 branch domains that forward to its store locator. MMEM, the Australian electrical wholesaler, has 107 branch domains titled AWM, MM, TLE or Haymans; the AWM, MM and Haymans ones I opened forward to mmem.com.au. Seven more owners have between 14 and 67 domains each, among them Alain Afflelou with 16. Those fleets add up to 456 domains, 6.72% of the 6,781 clean domains on 16 October. These are real customers, counted once per domain.

Sales signal: dedupe by redirect target and by owner before you size a Hyvä list. Expect noticeably fewer accounts than domains, and treat each fleet as one deal.

What the chart can and can't tell you

The line reads 4,349 in June, 6,013 in July, 6,203 in August, 6,525 in September and 6,689 in October. Most of the June to July jump is our side: the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites out and new ones in, and both our coverage and our detection widened over the summer. The September to October rise of 164 is modest. Hyvä's own licence page says it's trusted by more than 7,000 merchants, close to our domain count once aliases are allowed for. Since March, 723 domains dropped Hyvä on at least one hostname, but 187 of the 721 I re-checked still run it on another hostname.

Sales signal: the base is steady rather than surging. Hyvä announced on 6 November 2025 that the theme is now free and open source, which removes the licence fee from the decision, so watch the next few monthly readings before pitching a boom.

An older, Dutch-leaning customer base

The Netherlands has 652 matched Hyvä companies, ahead of the United States (572) and the United Kingdom (538). Our Magento profile counted 9,251 American companies to 2,178 Dutch ones in August 2026, so Hyvä turns Magento's usual order around. Belgium adds 198, Germany 350. The companies are also old. 47.11% were founded before 2000, 13.43% before 1960, and only 4.26% in the 2020s, against 6.8% on the Magento profile. Size sits above the small-store norm: 43.2% have 1 to 10 staff, against 51.62% on Magento's profile, and 71 have more than 1,000, including Life Time, Lippert Components, Fronius and Huws Gray.

Sales signal: a Hyvä store is usually an established business that has already invested in Magento and chose to rebuild its front end rather than replatform. Agencies, Magento extension vendors and hosting firms will find better-qualified accounts here than in a raw Magento list.

Retail first, then trade

Retail leads at 22.96%. Wholesale (6.73%), Manufacturing (6.38%) and Wholesale Building Materials (2.72%) add 15.83% between them, and several of those stores are trade portals: Carlstar's connect.carlstargroup.com, Lautan Luas's chemical-ordering site, Würth España and Master Group's heating and cooling distribution site. Beauty retail shows up among the named rows too, in Spain and France: Primor, Druni, Arenal and Beauty Success.

Sales signal: B2B commerce tools (quote requests, customer-specific pricing, ERP connectors) have a real audience here. Filter for Wholesale and Manufacturing in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany for the densest list.

Migration: Magento front ends rarely overlap

Our switching tests found nothing to publish. No domain runs Hyvä and PWA Studio together today, out of 6 ever seen with both. ScandiPWA shows 0 today of 5, and Vue Storefront 2 of 5. Numbers this small don't make a trend in either direction. The other big rows in the category table are Shopify tools, so a Magento store can't switch to them without replatforming.

Sales signal: for replatforming pitches, a Hyvä store is a hard target, because it just spent on Magento. For Magento extension sellers it's the opposite: these merchants are committed to the platform and need Hyvä-compatible modules.

The stack around Hyvä

Hyvä's default theme describes itself as based on Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js, and our crawl agrees. In a re-count of the 6,781 clean domains on 16 October, Tailwind CSS showed on 98.78% and Alpine.js on 97.64%, while RequireJS, the backbone of Magento's old Luma theme, was on just 2.86%. That's why our Magento rule only finds Magento on 52.21% of Hyvä domains. Site search stands out. ElasticSuite, Smile's open-source Magento search, runs on 21.41%, ahead of Doofinder (6.05%), Algolia (4.65%) and Klevu (2.12%). Hosting shows up in headers: 11.15% send Platform.sh's routing headers, and Platform.sh (renamed Upsun in 2025) runs the infrastructure for Adobe Commerce's managed cloud, per Platform.sh's 2022 announcement. The stores I opened from the stack table's Adobe Experience Manager row (7.27%) load Adobe's monitoring script from rum.hlx.page, and the two I checked also sent Platform.sh headers.

Sales signal: one Hyvä domain in five runs ElasticSuite, so search and merchandising vendors have an easy comparison to sell against. The Platform.sh group is the likeliest place to find Adobe Commerce cloud customers.

What it costs

The theme itself costs nothing now: Hyvä's licence page offers free access to Hyvä Theme Open Source with community support, and the code is on GitHub under OSL-3.0. The rest of the line-up is commercial: its site lists Hyvä UI, Hyvä Checkout and Hyvä POS, plus the Hyvä Commerce suite for Magento Open Source and Hyvä Enterprise for Adobe Commerce.

Sales signal: with the licence gone, the main cost of a Hyvä project is agency time. Agencies that build Hyvä stores are the buyers for compatibility modules, and the merchants on this list are the audience for Hyvä's own checkout and UI products.
