Companies Using PWA Studio

I expected PWA Studio to be a small, half-abandoned corner of the Magento world, and the October 2026 numbers only partly fit that. A domain counts here when its pages expose PWA Studio's two global loaders, fetchRootComponent and __fetchLocaleData__, or load its RootCmp_CMS_PAGE chunk. Our rules rate those globals as low-confidence, so on 16 October I loaded all 604 candidates. 565 served a PWA Studio storefront, with the Venia shell in the page source, and I didn't find a single page where the globals came from other software. We removed 36 that had moved to another storefront or closed, so the headline is 568 domains, 282 of them matched to a company, 5th of 15 in Headless Commerce.

One publisher is 16% of the count

91 of the 568 domains lead to bigfishgames.com. Big Fish Games points country domains, misspellings and game-title domains such as mysterycasefiles.com and drawn2darkflight.com at one PWA Studio store. Five more owners do the same on a smaller scale: Dormeo (15 domains), Stannah (12), 4F (11), Sourcebooks (10) and Hooker Furnishings (8). Those six owners hold 147 of the 568 domains (25.88%), and the 565 storefronts we could load lead to 357 distinct storefront hosts.

Sales signal: dedupe a PWA Studio list by redirect target before you count accounts. The multi-domain owners are multi-market sellers, and each is one buying decision.

What the chart shows

The chart starts in October 2026 at 568, the first month counted on the cleaned base. Earlier monthly totals included the 36 domains we removed, so they aren't shown. Later readings won't be a same-domain series either: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. The recent volume has a plain cause: 84 of Big Fish's 91 domains were first seen in September. Since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, 78 domains have dropped PWA Studio on at least one hostname, and 19 of them still run it on another.

Sales signal: treat PWA Studio sites as a stable installed base with upkeep to do, and don't pitch the segment internally as fast-growing.

Who runs it

The companies are bigger and older than Hyvä's. Of 274 matched companies with a known size, 22.63% have 1 to 10 employees, against 43.2% on Hyvä's profile, and 35 companies (12.77%) have more than 1,000 staff, among them Partner Communications, T&T Supermarket, Ascend Learning, Sparco and Abenson. Age points the same way. 55.56% of the 189 with a founding year were founded before 2000; Stannah dates from 1867, Levolor from 1914 and Hooker Furnishings from 1924. Burt's Bees, Structube and Ascend Learning run it on their main sites.

Sales signal: these companies paid for a custom React build on Magento. They have developers or an agency on retainer, and that team is the buyer for anything that touches the storefront.

Where it's used

The spread is flat. The United States has 54 matched companies, 19.15% of the 282, then Australia and the United Kingdom (19 each), India (17), Poland (16) and the Netherlands (14). Many of the names are regional chains: Briscoe Group in New Zealand, Guardian in Singapore, MM Mega Market in Vietnam, Abenson in the Philippines, Electric House and Ajlan & Bros in Saudi Arabia, Weylandts in South Africa. Retail is 27.41% of matched companies, and wholesale plus building-materials suppliers add another 11.2%, BMN in the Netherlands and Vulcan in New Zealand among them.

Sales signal: outside the US, a PWA Studio store usually belongs to an established chain rather than a start-up. Agencies selling Magento support in Australia, Poland, India and the Gulf will find named, reachable accounts here.

Leavers and Hyvä

There are no published switching rows on this page, and the numbers explain why. None of our PWA Studio domains shows Hyvä in our records today, and only six have shown both at some point since March. The fetch gives a fresher view than the records. 25 domains our records still listed now serve something else, and we took them out of this page's count. Eight are the Tools group's sites in Sweden, Norway and Finland, Swedol among them, on a classic Magento theme; four more run another Magento theme, one of them Hyvä. Seven moved to Shopify, four to Next.js builds and one to Salesforce's PWA Kit. Those are small numbers, and I wouldn't call them a trend.

Sales signal: every PWA Studio store will face a replatforming question sooner or later, but slowly. Hyvä agencies, Shopify migration shops and Next.js commerce builders all have a pitch, and the moment to make it is the store's next major upgrade.

The stack around it

Tailwind CSS appears on 76.0% and React on 66.6% of the raw count, which fits Venia: Adobe moved it to Tailwind v3 in release 14.0.0 (May 2024). Google Analytics runs on 85.56% of the 568 domains and Cloudflare fronts 35.56%. Content tools are rare. WordPress shows on 3.52% and Prismic on 2.11%. The 7.57% Fourthwall row is a false reading: those domains are PWA Studio stores whose build-version meta tag Fourthwall's detection also reads.

Sales signal: few of these stores run a separate CMS, so content probably lives in Magento or in code. Headless CMS vendors have an opening, and so do agencies that can ship content changes without a full rebuild.

What Adobe's release notes say

The magento/pwa-studio repository is under the Open Software License 3.0 and isn't archived. Since 14.0.0 in May 2024, releases have centred on compatibility: PHP 8.4 support and Node 18 in 14.2.0 (March 2025), Node 20 and a multistore setup in 14.3.0 (July 2025), and PHP 8.5 support plus an Axios security update in 14.5.1 (May 2026). An unofficial site, pwastudio.io, says Adobe stopped feature work in 2024. The notes fit that reading, but the project is maintained, with commits as late as 1 October 2026.

Sales signal: PWA Studio is maintained but slow-moving, and each PHP or Node upgrade is a maintenance project for the store. That's when an agency or a replatforming pitch lands.

Outreach for a Magento agency: "Your storefront runs on PWA Studio, and Adobe's latest release added PHP 8.5 support. If that upgrade is on your roadmap, we can scope it." Competitive angle: the 25 domains we removed because they now serve something else show which exits are real, Shopify and Next.js as much as Hyvä, so frame a replatforming pitch around the store's next upgrade rather than around one destination.
