Companies Using jQuery Mobile
Our October 2026 crawl finds jQuery Mobile on 287,539 domains, five years after its maintainers deprecated it. Few of those sites picked it. In a sample of 1,497 clean domains we fetched on 16 October, 1,060 of the 1,339 live pages (79.2%) were Divi sites, the theme that bundles it, and 137 more loaded it from three WordPress plugin families: 10Web's gallery and slider plugins, EventON and Serious Slider. So the site owner chose Divi, and Divi brought jQuery Mobile. This is the list of companies that use jQuery Mobile, with size, country, industry and stack, including TGI Fridays, Starbucks' alumni community and Dentons.
jQuery Mobile is the jQuery project's touch UI framework, released under the MIT licence. On 7 October 2021 its maintainers deprecated it and warned that version 1.4 doesn't work with the new jQuery core. It is 2nd in Mobile Frameworks, behind a miscounted Onsen UI row, with 25.91% of a category total that includes that row. For a seller, a jQuery Mobile hit mostly says one thing: this is a Divi site.

jQuery Mobile Usage Statistics
jQuery Mobile reads 243,285 domains in June 2026, 271,317 in July, 275,349 in August, 286,717 in September and 287,539 in October. Read that as the reach of the themes and plugins that bundle it, plus our crawl's reach, rather than adoption. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time, so the June to July step is coverage. Since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, 41,905 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname; in mid-October, 4,393 of those still ran it on another.

Which Countries Use jQuery Mobile the Most?
Which countries use jQuery Mobile the most? The United States, with 59,344 matched companies, then Germany (18,690), the United Kingdom (16,798), Spain (12,229) and France (11,545). Europe is the bigger market: those four European countries plus the Netherlands (8,818) and Italy (6,915) add up to 74,995 companies. The top three match our Divi profile, where Germany and the United Kingdom also follow the US, so this is largely a map of where Divi sells.
Share of the 201,818 jQuery Mobile domains we matched to a company record — 70.2% of the 287,539 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
jQuery Mobile Market Share Among Mobile Frameworks
What is jQuery Mobile's market share? 25.91% of Mobile Frameworks on 287,539 domains, based on our crawl at TechnologyChecker.io, and the share needs a caveat. The category total includes Onsen UI's row, and our Onsen UI rule matches any minified script whose path contains "onsen", which "consent" does, so cookie-consent plugins inflate it and we don't treat it as a rival. That row puts jQuery Mobile 2nd on our category page; among the four other rows it is first: Flutter has 7,453 domains, Framework7 104 and jQTouch 63.
Top Competitors by Market Share
jQuery Mobile Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use jQuery Mobile? Small ones. 67.09% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 22.29% have 11 to 50, so 89.38% have 50 or fewer staff. There are 1,544 companies above 1,000 staff (1,123 at 1,001 to 5,000, 205 at 5,001 to 10,000 and 216 above that), and the ones we opened run it on one WordPress property, such as Starbucks' alumni site, Fastenal's careers site or Boston Medical Center's jobs site.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (35.46%), then the 2000s (20.15%). Only 12.43% date from the 2020s, about the same as the 1990s (12.09%), and 6.16% were founded before 1960. That's an established base: on our Dart profile, by contrast, half the matched companies are from the 2020s. These are businesses that built a WordPress site years ago and kept it.
What Industries Use jQuery Mobile the Most?
Construction leads at 6.02%, then Business Consulting and Services (3.34%), Retail (2.96%), Medical Practices (2.85%) and Real Estate (2.72%), based on our enriched company data. No industry reaches 6.1%, and the top ten add up to 29.47%. That's the profile of local service businesses, the kind of site a web agency builds on a premium WordPress theme and hands over.
Universities using jQuery Mobile include the University of Chicago and the University of Delaware on their research-office sites and the University of Warwick on its applicant login. Law firms on jQuery Mobile include Dentons, Clifford Chance and DLA Piper's alumni network. Hospitals using jQuery Mobile include Mount Sinai, Boston Medical Center and Prime Healthcare, each on a Divi-built site.
jQuery Mobile Alternatives & Competitors
None of the rows in this table replaces jQuery Mobile like for like. Flutter (7,453 domains) builds whole apps in Dart, and only 32 jQuery Mobile domains run it today. Framework7 (104) and jQTouch (63) are tiny. Onsen UI is left out of this table because its rule over-counts: 6,607 jQuery Mobile domains trip it today, which says more about cookie-consent plugins than about Onsen UI. For most of these sites the replacement is no mobile framework at all, because the responsive theme they run already handles phones.

WordPress runs on 94.65% and Divi on 80.42%, and jQuery itself on 100%, as it has to. jQuery Migrate, WordPress's compatibility layer for older jQuery code, is on 94.55%, and jQuery UI on 21.25%. Google Analytics shows on 54.52% and Google's Site Kit plugin on 13.02%. Elementor is on 4.01%, the clearest sign that jQuery Mobile here is a Divi signal, not a WordPress-wide one.

Expert Analysis: jQuery Mobile Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

jQuery Mobile is a strange row to analyse: a framework its own maintainers deprecated in 2021 that still sits on 287,539 domains in our October 2026 crawl, with 201,818 of them matched to a company, a 70.19% match rate. I wanted to know who chooses it. In our sample, about 3% of live pages did; for the rest, a WordPress theme or plugin made the choice.
What the signal catches
A domain counts when a page defines jQuery Mobile's version property or loads a script named like jquery.mobile.js or jquery-mobile.min.js. That second clause is the one that fires on most sites, and the file usually isn't where you'd expect. I sampled 1,497 clean domains and fetched each on 16 October. Of the 1,339 live pages, 1,060 (79.2%) were Divi sites; on 935 of them the jQuery Mobile file loaded straight from Divi's own folder, and the rest had Divi with combined or renamed scripts. Another 69 got it from 10Web's Photo Gallery, Slider and Facebook Feed plugins, 49 from the EventON calendar and 19 from Serious Slider. Only 40 pages (about 3%) served their own copy or a CDN copy outside WordPress. Divi's file even confuses the version field: in the same sample, 1,086 detections recorded a "version" that starts with 4 or 5, which is the theme's or plugin's version from the ?ver= query string, not a jQuery Mobile release.
The dead-page check came in under our threshold. 19 sampled domains no longer resolved and 13 were error, suspended or default pages, 32 of 1,497 (2.14%), and we found no gambling cluster. (Our technology detection methods post explains how script-path rules like this one are matched.)
Sales signal: a jQuery Mobile hit is, four times out of five, a Divi detection. Sell to it as a Divi site.
Growth trajectory
The chart reads 243,285 domains in June 2026 and 287,539 in October. I wouldn't call that growth. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time, so the June to July step is mostly coverage. The line tracks the installed base of the themes and plugins that bundle the file. Since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, 41,905 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname, and in mid-October 4,393 of those still ran it on another.
"Almost none of these 287,539 domains chose jQuery Mobile. They chose Divi, or a gallery plugin, and the library came along. That's why it outlived its own deprecation." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: the size of this list moves with Divi, not with mobile development. If Elegant Themes drops the file in a future Divi release, the count will fall without a single owner deciding anything.
Who the customers are
67.09% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 22.29% have 11 to 50. They're established: the 2010s (35.46%) and 2000s (20.15%) lead, and only 12.43% were founded in the 2020s. The industries are local services, led by Construction at 6.02%, and no vertical passes 6.1%. This is the classic agency-built WordPress site.
The enterprise names follow the same pattern at a smaller scale. 1,544 companies have more than 1,000 staff (1,123 at 1,001 to 5,000, 205 at 5,001 to 10,000 and 216 above), and the ones I opened run jQuery Mobile on one WordPress property: Starbucks' and DLA Piper's alumni networks, Fastenal's careers site, Boston Medical Center's jobs site, the University of Chicago's research office. The deliberate users are a small group with older builds: a telecom phone catalogue, a retailer and two university logins on the last stable release, and two more on custom builds.
Sales signal: at large companies the owner is a marketing, alumni or recruiting team running a WordPress microsite. That team buys WordPress care, hosting and design, not developer tools.
Industry and geography
The United States has 59,344 matched companies, but Europe is larger. Germany (18,690), the United Kingdom (16,798), Spain (12,229), France (11,545), the Netherlands (8,818) and Italy (6,915) add up to 74,995. The top three match our Divi profile, where Germany and the United Kingdom also follow the US.
Sales signal: European WordPress agencies and hosts serving German, Spanish and French small businesses are the natural channel for any product that sells to this list.
Switching: what the data can and can't say
We publish no switching table here. The two overlaps the data shows aren't switching. 6,607 jQuery Mobile domains also trip our Onsen UI rule today, but that rule matches cookie-consent script names, so the pair measures consent plugins on WordPress sites. Flutter overlaps on 32 domains today (40 ever), small enough to be a handful of companies running a Flutter app beside a WordPress site.
"When a jQuery Mobile site drops it, the cause is usually a theme update or a rebuild, not a decision about mobile frameworks. Track Divi releases, not framework trends." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: the 41,905 domains that dropped it since March are worth a look for rebuild and migration agencies, since some of them rebuilt their sites. Check the live site first, because some closed.
The stack around it
Percentages are of the 282,715 domains with stack data. WordPress is on 94.65%, Divi on 80.42% and jQuery on 100%. jQuery Migrate (94.55%) is WordPress's compatibility layer, jQuery UI shows on 21.25% and Swiper on 14.64%. Google Analytics runs on 54.52% and Google's Site Kit plugin on 13.02%. Elementor is on 4.01%, and that contrast is the cleanest evidence that this list is Divi's, not WordPress's in general.
Sales signal: the gaps are what a set-and-forget WordPress site lacks: performance work, security hardening and analytics beyond Google's free tag. Security scanners already flag the outdated jQuery Mobile file on Divi sites, according to Freshy's guide, which gives a natural opening line.
Key takeaways
- 287,539 domains, but 79.2% of live sampled pages were Divi sites and about 3% served their own copy.
- Deprecated on 7 October 2021; the count follows Divi's installed base, not adoption.
- Small, established businesses: 67.09% at 1 to 10 staff, 12.43% founded in the 2020s.
- Europe outweighs the US: 74,995 matched companies in six European countries against 59,344.
- The 25.91% category share sits on a total inflated by a broken Onsen UI rule.
Sales applications
Outreach template: "Your site at [domain] runs Divi, which loads an outdated jQuery Mobile file that security scanners flag. We help Divi sites clean that up and speed up. Worth a 15-minute look?"
Targeting: filter jQuery Mobile domains for Germany, the United Kingdom or Spain and 1 to 50 employees, then exclude the domains without Divi to get a clean Divi small-business list.
Competitive angle: for page-builder and theme vendors, this is a list of Divi sites with an old dependency; a migration offer that removes it has a concrete hook.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses jQuery Mobile?
Mostly small businesses with WordPress sites built on the Divi theme. Our October 2026 crawl finds jQuery Mobile on 287,539 domains, 67.09% of matched companies have ten or fewer staff, and in a fetched sample 79.2% of live pages were Divi sites. Named users include TGI Fridays, Starbucks' alumni site, Dentons, Clifford Chance and Boston Scientific's newsroom.
How many customers does jQuery Mobile have?
None in the paying sense: it's a free library. Our October 2026 crawl finds it on 287,539 domains, and 201,818 match a company record. Most never chose it directly; in our sample, 79.2% of live pages were Divi sites, where the theme supplies it. Since March 2026, 41,905 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname.
What is jQuery Mobile's market share?
25.91% of Mobile Frameworks on 287,539 domains, but the category total includes Onsen UI's row, whose rule matches cookie-consent scripts because "consent" contains "onsen". That row puts jQuery Mobile 2nd on our category page; among the other rows it is first by a long way: Flutter has 7,453 domains, Framework7 104 and jQTouch 63. Its size comes from one theme, Divi, not from new projects.
What are the best alternatives to jQuery Mobile?
For a website, a responsive theme or CSS framework does the job jQuery Mobile once did, and that's what most of these sites already run. For an app, the usual choices are Flutter, Ionic or a JavaScript framework such as React or Vue. In our table, Flutter has 7,453 domains, but only 32 jQuery Mobile domains run it.
Which countries use jQuery Mobile the most?
The United States, with 59,344 matched companies, then Germany (18,690), the United Kingdom (16,798), Spain (12,229) and France (11,545). Six European countries together, adding the Netherlands and Italy, come to 74,995 companies, more than the US. The order follows our Divi profile, where Germany and the United Kingdom also come second and third.
What size companies use jQuery Mobile?
Small ones. 67.09% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 22.29% have 11 to 50, so 89.38% have 50 or fewer staff. 1,544 companies have more than 1,000, and the ones we opened use it on one WordPress property, such as Fastenal's careers site or Boston Medical Center's jobs site.
How old are companies that use jQuery Mobile?
Mostly established. The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (35.46%), then the 2000s (20.15%). Only 12.43% date from the 2020s, close to the 1990s share (12.09%), and 6.16% were founded before 1960. These are businesses with long-running WordPress sites, which is where Divi and its bundled jQuery Mobile live.
What is the ideal customer profile for jQuery Mobile?
The ideal jQuery Mobile customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees, then 11-50, Location: United States, then Germany, UK, Spain, Founded: 2010s, then 2000s, Industry: Construction, consulting, retail and clinics, Site stack: WordPress site on the Divi theme — based on our analysis of 201,818 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.
Is jQuery Mobile still used in 2026?
Yes, on 287,539 domains in our October 2026 crawl, but rarely by choice. In a sample of 1,497 domains we fetched, 1,060 of 1,339 live pages were Divi sites, and 137 more loaded it from WordPress plugins. Only about 3% served their own copy outside WordPress, such as Entel and LCBO.
Why was jQuery Mobile deprecated?
The jQuery maintainers deprecated it on 7 October 2021, saying newer technologies for mobile app development had evolved since the project launched in 2010. Issue reporting was switched off, the download builder stayed up, and version 1.4 was declared incompatible with the new jQuery core. Critical security bugs can still be emailed to the jQuery team.
Why does Divi load jQuery Mobile?
Divi ships its own copy of jQuery Mobile inside the theme's builder assets, and loads it as a script handle named jquery-mobile. Freshy, a WordPress agency, describes it as a legacy script kept for backward compatibility rather than something most modern Divi builds use. In our sample, 79.2% of live jQuery Mobile pages were Divi sites.
How do I remove jQuery Mobile from a Divi site?
Freshy's guide suggests dequeuing the jquery-mobile script handle from a child theme or snippet, after testing that nothing on the site depends on it, then re-running your security scan. Don't edit Divi's core files, since theme updates overwrite them. Removing it also takes the site out of our jQuery Mobile count.
Does jQuery Mobile work with current jQuery?
Not reliably. The deprecation notice says jQuery Mobile 1.4 is not compatible with the new jQuery core. On WordPress sites, jQuery Migrate fills some gaps: it runs on 94.55% of jQuery Mobile domains in our crawl. The last stable jQuery Mobile release was 1.4.5 in October 2014, and 1.5.0-alpha.1 followed in May 2017.
Is jQuery Mobile free?
Yes. jQuery Mobile is an archived OpenJS Foundation project released under the MIT licence, the same terms as jQuery, so it costs nothing to use, including commercially. Most sites in our crawl didn't download it at all: their theme or plugin shipped it, and 79.2% of the live pages we sampled were Divi sites.
Is jQuery Mobile a security risk?
Security scanners often flag it as an outdated library, and Divi sites are a common case, per Freshy's guide, which says the flag doesn't prove the script is used and that the fix is to check usage and dequeue it, not to edit Divi. With issue reporting closed since 2021, the jQuery team asks for critical security bugs by email instead.
