Companies Using GoDaddy Website Builder

I'm David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io, and I maintain the detection rules behind this page. It's built on an audited subset of what our GoDaddy rule matched. Our September 27, 2026 check counts 529,033 live websites carrying the builder's generator tag, and 272,533 of them (51.5%) match a company record. A looser rule matched 824,632 the same day, and the method section above explains the gap.

What the count measures

GoDaddy sells two things that look alike from outside: hosting and a site builder. Both load scripts from the same GoDaddy image server, so a rule that trusts that server counts hosting customers as builder customers. On the 295,618 sites that matched without the builder's tag, WordPress runs on 64.4%. On the tagged sites it runs on 0.07%. Those are two different products, and this page describes only the builder.

The tagged group is clean, with one qualification. Of 40 we opened, all 39 that loaded were builder sites, and 7 were placeholders. Across the whole group, 84,077 sites (15.9%) are unedited "Launching Soon" pages. We count them because the builder serves them, but we don't name them and we keep them out of the stack table. Version 8 of the builder accounts for nearly all tagged sites; about 7,000 still run version 7.

Sales Signal: A placeholder is a domain with an owner and no website. For web designers and local marketing agencies that's a clean lead: someone paid for a name and hasn't built anything on it.

Customer profile

This is a micro-business product. 80.96% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, and 96.27% have 50 or fewer. Only 386 have more than 1,000, and most of the ones I opened use the builder for a regional or single-purpose site: Jatco's Mexican plant, Henley Companies' hiring site. An Indonesian alumina refinery is the exception, with its main site on the builder. The base is young too. 34.35% were founded in the 2020s and 76.76% in 2010 or later.

Size and age together describe a sole trader or small firm that bought a domain and wanted a page on it quickly. The Wix base is similar in size (78.74% at 1 to 10 employees on its profile). The difference is the route in: GoDaddy's help center describes Airo as included with new GoDaddy domain purchases.

Sales Signal: These owners have little time and no web team. Sell done-for-you services, bookkeeping, local ads or scheduling, not configurable software.

Industry and geographic concentration

No industry reaches 7%. Business consulting leads at 6.11%, construction follows at 6.01%, then IT services (3.48%) and real estate (3.44%). Contractors, realtors, clinics and consultants: a local service economy.

Geography is American. The United States has 159,342 matched companies, more than eight times the UK's 19,319. Canada (14,630) and India (14,596) are nearly tied behind it, and English-speaking markets (US, UK, Canada, Australia) add up to 202,855. India is the largest market outside those four, and Mexico (3,066) and Brazil (2,414) lead Latin America.

Sales Signal: Give India its own list. It has almost as many GoDaddy builder companies as Canada (14,596 against 14,630), and a campaign aimed only at English-speaking markets skips it.

Why there is no migration table

We measured switching on the looser rule, and its leavers mix people who left GoDaddy's builder with people who moved their WordPress site off GoDaddy hosting. That mix can't be published as builder churn. One flow was clean enough to check: of 90 sites that moved to Square Online, 87 had carried the builder's tag. That's a real builder-to-builder move, and at that size it's an anecdote, not a trend.

Sales Signal: For competing builders such as Duda or Wix, the opening is the business that has outgrown a one-page site. Look for GoDaddy builder companies that have grown past 10 employees.

Technology ecosystem

On the 444,956 builder sites that aren't placeholders, Microsoft 365 runs email for 42.5% and Google Workspace for 9.22%. GoDaddy resells Microsoft 365 alongside its domains, and 97.1% of builder sites keep their DNS at GoDaddy, so the email choice probably came with the domain. Google Analytics is on 32.07% and Google Tag Manager on 31.49%. Facebook Pixel is on 17.12%, while Google Ads conversion tracking is on only 0.73%.

Re:amaze, a chat and help desk tool GoDaddy has owned since 2021, loads on 49.0% of these sites because the builder bundles it. Read it as part of the platform. Our DNS statistics post shows how large GoDaddy's DNS footprint is on its own.

Sales Signal: Google Ads conversion tracking on under 1% of sites, next to Facebook Pixel on 17%, suggests most of these businesses run no paid search, or run it without measurement. That's the gap for PPC agencies.

G2 review signals

G2 rates GoDaddy Website Builder 4.1 out of 5 from 189 reviews (September 27, 2026), with 84% of ratings at four or five stars. Its AI summary is thin, with no theme above three mentions. Support staff and easy setup lead the praise; costs, repeated upgrade prompts and limited customization lead the complaints. We don't show a pros and cons panel on this page for that reason.

189 reviews against 529,033 live sites says something too. Most owners of these sites don't go to review platforms, which fits a base where 80.96% of companies have 10 or fewer staff and many sites were set up alongside a domain.

Sales Signal: The complaints are about upsell pressure and limits, not about the site going down. Pitch clear pricing and room to grow, not reliability.

Competitive angle: keep companies on Webflow on a separate list. They chose a designer's tool, and a pitch written for GoDaddy builder owners won't land with them.
