Companies Using Google Ads Conversion Tracking
Google Ads Conversion Tracking is the tag that tells Google Ads when someone who clicked an ad goes on to buy, sign up or call. Our October 2026 crawl finds it on 864,192 live domains, after we set aside 99,279 domain-for-sale and gambling pages that carried a marketplace's own tag. That puts it 2nd of the 82 technologies in Attribution & Conversion Tracking, behind the Facebook Pixel. Below is the list of companies that use Google Ads Conversion Tracking, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Pfizer, UnitedHealth Group, AT&T's business site and Micron's careers site.
We count the tag written into the page: a gtag call carrying an AW- account ID, or Google's older conversion_async.js script. A tag fired only from Google Tag Manager usually leaves neither in the page, so read 864,192 as a floor of Google Ads advertisers. The base is small and local, with 57.23% of matched companies at 1 to 10 staff. And it isn't the same measurement as our Google Ads page, which counts sites loading any script from googleadservices.com: only 2.55% of the domains here appear on both.

Google Ads Conversion Tracking Usage Statistics
One point: 864,192 live domains in October 2026, counted without the for-sale and gambling pages described at the end of this page. Our earlier monthly totals include those pages, so we don't chart them, and they wouldn't make a like-for-like series anyway: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widens over time. Exits we can count: 131,139 domains dropped the tag on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026. About one in eight of them (16,576 of 131,174 in a recount) still run it on another hostname.

Brazil and India together hold 64,003, more than the UK and Canada combined (52,753). Turkey (7,451), Poland (6,783), China (6,759) and Mexico (6,613) also make the top 15. These counts cover the 481,383 domains we matched to a company, based on our enriched company data.
Share of the 481,383 Google Ads Conversion Tracking domains we matched to a company record — 55.7% of the 864,192 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Google Ads Conversion Tracking Market Share Among Attribution & Conversion Tracking
What is Google Ads Conversion Tracking's market share? 14.39% of Attribution & Conversion Tracking, 2nd of the 82 technologies we track there, counting domains at TechnologyChecker.io. The Facebook Pixel leads with 3,625,109 domains, about 4.2 times as many. Below Google's tag the drop is steep: the LinkedIn Insight Tag has 460,842 domains and TikTok Pixel 410,703, roughly half of Google's count each. Counted raw, with the for-sale pages, the tag would show 952,321 domains and 15.63%.

Google Ads Conversion Tracking Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Google Ads Conversion Tracking? Mostly small ones. 57.23% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 27.71% have 11 to 50, so 84.94% have 50 or fewer. That's the shape of businesses buying their own search ads. 4,851 companies have more than 1,000 staff, and many of them run the tag on one site: Micron and Cardinal Health on careers sites, M&T Bank on an appointment-booking site, Walgreens on its photo store.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (39.19%), then the 2000s (19.28%) and the 2020s (18.02%), so about 57% were founded in 2010 or later. At the other end, 3.63% predate 1960, a tail that includes Pfizer (1848), M&T Bank (1856) and Standard Bank (1862).
What Industries Use Google Ads Conversion Tracking the Most?
Retail leads at 5.36%, then Construction (4.48%), Real Estate (4.12%), IT Services and IT Consulting (3.18%) and Software Development (2.85%), based on our enriched company data. No industry reaches 5.4%, and the ten largest add up to 31.56% of matched companies. Medical practices (2.53%) and wellness and fitness (2.18%) fill out a list that reads like a directory of local businesses paying for clicks.
Retail companies using Google Ads Conversion Tracking range from local shops to Walgreens' photo store and Carrefour's home-energy renovation site. Banks using the Google Ads conversion tag form a visible cluster: HDFC Bank's branch locator, Scotiabank in the Dominican Republic, Standard Bank's corporate and investment bank and M&T Bank's appointment booking. Healthcare companies on Google Ads Conversion Tracking include UnitedHealth Group, Pfizer, Mercy and GE HealthCare's service shop.
Google Ads Conversion Tracking Alternatives & Competitors
The table ranks by domains, and only the Facebook Pixel sits above Google's tag. Many advertisers run both: 379,719 domains carry the Facebook Pixel and this tag today, equal to about 44% of our count. The overlap with the others is smaller: 47,441 domains with the LinkedIn Insight Tag, 41,039 with TikTok Pixel and 4,694 with Snapchat Pixel. Each pixel reports to a different ad platform, so advertisers add them rather than choose between them, and the table shows reach, not head-to-head rivals.

Percentages here are of the 864,199 clean live domains in our stack sample, and the top rows need a warning. Google Analytics (97.36%) and Google Tag Manager (95.3%) look near-universal largely because our rules for both match gtag.js, the library the conversion tag itself loads from googletagmanager.com. DoubleClick Floodlight's 68.08% likely includes the tag's own calls to googleads.g.doubleclick.net. How We Counted Google Ads Conversion Tracking Customers
A domain counts here if a page on it carries Google Ads' conversion tag in one of three forms: an inline gtag call that configures an AW- account ID, Google's older conversion_async.js script from googleadservices.com, or the google_trackConversion function that script defines. In a random sample of 1,000 counted domains, 802 showed an AW- ID in the raw HTML. The rule reads the page, so a Google Ads tag fired only from Google Tag Manager is usually missed, and so are advertisers who import conversions from Google Analytics instead of tagging their site. 864,192 is a floor.
Before computing anything, we removed 99,279 domains, 10.3% of the 963,471 that pass the test, because they aren't advertisers measuring their own ads. 66,053 are DomainMarket.com for-sale pages, 27,008 are BrandBucket for-sale pages and 875 are Atom for-sale pages. The remaining 5,343 are smaller marketplaces' landers plus gambling, "Redirecting..." and error pages. The marketplaces advertise their domains on Google, so the landers carry the marketplace's tag: the DomainMarket pages we opened all called the same AW- account.
Every chart and table on this page uses the remaining 864,192. Counted raw, as the competitor tables on other profiles still show it, the tag would have 952,321 domains and 15.63% of the category; on the cleaned count it has 14.39% and is still 2nd. The cut isn't perfect. DomainMarket pages that our crawl stored with a blank or error title slipped through: a fingerprint of the scripts those pages share finds 8,132 still in the count, about 0.94%, and all 8 we opened were for sale under the same account. One platform account repeats as well. Menufy, an online-ordering platform for restaurants, loads its own Google Ads account on the restaurant sites it runs, 19 of our 1,000 sampled domains. No other AW- ID appeared more than three times in that sample, and the 802 pages that showed one used 818 different IDs between them.
Expert Analysis: Google Ads Conversion Tracking Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I expected the hard part of this page to be scale. It was the for-sale pages. Our October 2026 crawl finds Google Ads' conversion tag on 963,471 live domains, and 99,279 of them are domains for sale or gambling pages. The other 864,192, 481,383 of them matched to a company, are the base for everything below. That still makes it the 2nd most common tag in Attribution & Conversion Tracking, with 14.39% of the category.
What the count measures
A domain counts when its page carries the tag itself: a gtag call configuring an AW- account ID, Google's older conversion_async.js script, or the function that script defines. In a random sample of 1,000 counted domains, 802 showed an AW- ID in the raw HTML. What the rule can't see matters as much. Google's Help page offers two ways to measure conversions, the Google tag or key events imported from Google Analytics, and the import leaves nothing on the site. Tags fired from Google Tag Manager mostly escape the rule too. On the 76 company sites in our call-tracking sample that loaded Google's call script, all 76 also loaded a Google Ads account, but only 7 wrote it as an inline gtag call.
The chart has a single point for a reason. Our monthly totals before October include the for-sale pages, so they aren't comparable, and no monthly series of ours is strictly like for like: the domains we crawl turn over every month, dead sites out and new ones in, and our detection widens over time.
"864,192 sites write a Google Ads account into their own pages. That's a floor. Plenty of advertisers fire the same tag from a tag manager and never show up in the HTML." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: an inline AW- tag means someone pasted Google's snippet into the site template. Changing it needs a developer or a CMS edit, which is the opening for agencies that sell tracking clean-ups.
One site, one account
With ad tags I check the account ID first, because one account on many domains is one customer. Here the IDs are almost all different. The 802 sampled pages that showed one used 818 distinct AW- IDs, and only two repeated more than three times. Menufy, an online-ordering platform for restaurants, loads its own Google Ads account on the sites it runs: 19 of the 1,000. DomainMarket's account turned up on 13, for-sale pages our crawl had stored with a blank or error title. A fingerprint of the scripts those pages share finds 8,132 of them still in the count, about 0.94%. Neither comes near 5%.
Sales signal: treat this list as close to one advertiser per domain, but drop restaurant sites built on an ordering platform. There, the platform owns the tag, not the restaurant.
Who buys their own search ads
The base is small and fairly young. 57.23% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 27.71% have 11 to 50, and about 57% were founded in 2010 or later. Retail (5.36%), construction (4.48%) and real estate (4.12%) lead, medical practices and wellness sit close behind, and no industry reaches 5.4%. These are local businesses checking whether a click became a call or a form.
The 4,851 companies with more than 1,000 staff often run the tag on one site. Micron, Cardinal Health, T-Mobile and Vestas have it on careers sites, where the conversion is likely a job application. M&T Bank runs it on an appointment-booking site, Walgreens on its photo store and Chipotle on its investor site. Pfizer and UnitedHealth Group load it on their main domains.
Sales signal: at a large company the Google Ads buyer may be recruiting or one product team rather than central marketing, so start from the hostname we detected.
Where the advertisers are
The United States leads with 155,634 matched companies, and second place goes to Brazil (37,272), ahead of the United Kingdom (32,603), India (26,731) and Canada (20,150). Brazil and India together hold 64,003, more than the UK and Canada combined (52,753). Germany, Spain, France and Italy each have between 9,915 and 15,113, and Turkey, Poland, China and Mexico complete the top 15.
Sales signal: if your product only works in English, a large share of this list is out of reach. Portuguese and Indian-market onboarding open the two biggest blocks after the US.
No switching to report, plenty of overlap
The migration section is empty, and that's the honest result. Ad pixels for different platforms aren't substitutes; advertisers add them. 379,719 domains run the Facebook Pixel and this tag today, 47,441 also run the LinkedIn Insight Tag, 41,039 TikTok Pixel and 4,694 Snapchat Pixel. Exits do happen. 131,139 domains dropped the conversion tag on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, but in a recount about one in eight of those (16,576 of 131,174) still run it on another hostname, so fewer sites stopped than that number suggests.
"Google's conversion tag and Meta's pixel aren't either-or. 379,719 domains carry the pair, and that overlap says more about these advertisers than a switching table could." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: a site with both tags is buying traffic on two platforms and has to reconcile two sets of conversion numbers. That's the opening for attribution and server-side tracking vendors.
The stack around it
Read the top stack rows with care. Google Analytics (97.36%) and Google Tag Manager (95.3%) look near-universal because our rules for both match gtag.js, the same library the conversion tag loads from googletagmanager.com. DoubleClick Floodlight's 68.08% likely includes the tag's own calls to googleads.g.doubleclick.net. The independent rows are smaller: Microsoft Advertising on 6.28%, Pinterest Ads on 2.61%, WordPress on 37.88% and Elementor on 14.98%. The six most common consent tools add up to about 11%, led by CookieYes at 3.69%.
Sales signal: only about one site in 16 also runs Microsoft Advertising's tag, so most of this list buys search ads from Google alone. That's a ready prospect list for agencies that sell Bing campaigns.
Three Google pages, three counts
We publish this tag separately from Google Ads. That page counts sites loading any script from googleadservices.com, the address of Google's older conversion and remarketing scripts, and finds 51,211 domains, per its profile; only 2.55% of the domains here appear there too. Google Call Conversion Tracking counts the add-on that swaps a site's phone number for a Google forwarding number, on 139,086 domains, and 49,921 of those also carry the tag counted here. In our browser checks the call script always rode on a Google Ads account; the deployment, usually through Google Tag Manager, is what keeps the other sites off this page.
Sales signal: to size Google Ads advertisers, combine the three pages and dedupe by domain. None of them alone is the whole market.
Key takeaways
1. 864,192 live domains after removing 99,279 for-sale and gambling pages; 2nd of 82 in Attribution & Conversion Tracking with 14.39%.
2. It's a floor. Tags fired only from Google Tag Manager, and conversions imported from Google Analytics, leave nothing our rule reads.
3. Almost always one account per site: 818 AW- IDs on 802 sampled pages, with Menufy's restaurant sites the biggest shared account at 19 of 1,000.
4. Small, young and global: 57.23% have 1 to 10 staff, and Brazil (37,272) outranks the UK (32,603).
5. Google calls conversion tracking a free tool in Google Ads. The money goes on the ads.
How to use this list
Filter by hostname before company size: a careers or booking subdomain tells you which team buys the ads. How many customers does Google Ads Conversion Tracking have?
Google doesn't publish a figure. Our October 2026 crawl finds the conversion tag on 864,192 live domains, 481,383 of them matched to a company, after removing 99,279 domain-for-sale and gambling pages. It's a floor: a tag fired only from Google Tag Manager, or conversions imported from Google Analytics, leave nothing our rule reads. 131,139 domains have dropped the tag on at least one hostname since March 2026.
What is Google Ads Conversion Tracking's market share?
14.39% of Attribution & Conversion Tracking by domain count, 2nd of the 82 technologies we track there. Only the Facebook Pixel is bigger, with 3,625,109 domains, about 4.2 times as many. What are the best alternatives to Google Ads Conversion Tracking?
It depends what you're replacing. Google's own alternative is importing key events from Google Analytics instead of tagging the site. For other ad platforms, the equivalents are the Facebook Pixel (3,625,109 domains in our crawl), the LinkedIn Insight Tag (460,842), TikTok Pixel (410,703) and Snapchat Pixel (57,708). Most advertisers add these alongside Google's tag: 379,719 domains run the Facebook Pixel and this tag today.

The United States leads with 155,634 matched companies, followed by Brazil (37,272), the United Kingdom (32,603), India (26,731) and Canada (20,150). Brazil ranking above the UK stands out. Australia, Germany, Spain, France and Italy complete the top ten, and Turkey, Poland, China and Mexico also make the top 15, so the tag is spread well beyond English-speaking markets.
What size companies use Google Ads Conversion Tracking?
Mostly very small ones. 57.23% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, 27.71% have 11 to 50 and 9.86% have 51 to 200. 4,851 companies have more than 1,000 staff, and many of those run the tag on a single site, such as a careers portal, a booking page or an investor-relations site, rather than across the whole company.

Among the Google Ads Conversion Tracking domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (39.19%), followed by the 2000s (19.28%). That matched subset is drawn from 481,383 companies and is not representative of all 864,192 detected domains. This suggests Google Ads Conversion Tracking is most popular among relatively young companies.

Which companies are known for using Google Ads?
Among large companies, our October 2026 crawl saw the Google Ads conversion tag on Pfizer's homepage, UnitedHealth Group, AT&T's business site, the careers sites of T-Mobile and Micron, Walgreens' photo store, the Home Depot's Eco Actions site and Chipotle's investor site. Each loaded an AW- account when we opened it. Most of the 864,192 domains, though, belong to businesses with 1 to 10 staff.
How do I know if a company uses Google Ads?
View the page source and search for "AW-" followed by digits: that's a Google Ads account ID in a gtag call. In a random sample of 1,000 domains on this page, 802 showed one in the raw HTML. If nothing shows, the tag may load through Google Tag Manager, so open the browser's network tab and look for requests to googleadservices.com or googleads.g.doubleclick.net.
Is conversion tracking required for Google Ads?
No, ads run without it. But Google's Help page on conversion measurement lists Smart Bidding strategies such as Maximize Conversions, target CPA and target ROAS among the reasons to measure, and those strategies optimise towards the conversions you record. You can measure with the Google tag on your site or by importing key events from a linked Google Analytics property.
Is Google Ads conversion tracking free?
Yes. Google calls conversion tracking "a free tool in Google Ads" on its conversion-tracking page, which we checked in October 2026. You pay for the ads, not the tag. The cost is setup time: placing the Google tag, defining conversion actions and, for phone calls, adding a snippet that swaps your number for a Google forwarding number.
Does Google Ads automatically track conversions?
No. You choose what counts as a conversion, such as a purchase, a sign-up or a phone call, and then measure it with the Google tag on your site or by importing key events from Google Analytics, per Google's Help page. Our crawl only sees the first route. 864,192 domains carry the tag in their pages; an Analytics import leaves nothing on the site to detect.
How to check Google conversion tracking?
Google's Help page suggests Google Tag Assistant to confirm the tags are implemented correctly. For a quick manual check, load the page with the browser's network tab open and look for a request carrying your AW- account number, usually to googleads.g.doubleclick.net or googleadservices.com. Searching the page source for "AW-" works when the tag is written into the page, as it was on 802 of 1,000 sampled domains here.
What's the difference between Google Ads and Google Analytics conversion tracking?
The Google Ads tag records conversions from ad clicks for Google Ads to report and bid on. Google Analytics measures all site traffic, and its key events can be imported into Google Ads instead. Google's Help page calls the import the efficient choice for existing Analytics users and recommends the Google tag for a dedicated bidding signal. The two share one library, gtag.js.
Why does the Google Ads page show a different number?
Each page counts a different tag. This page counts the conversion tag written into the page, mostly an inline gtag call with an AW- account ID, and finds 864,192 domains. The Google Ads page counts sites loading any script from googleadservices.com, home of Google's older conversion and remarketing scripts, and finds 51,211, per its profile. Only 2.55% of the domains here appear on both.
