Companies Using Google Call Conversion Tracking
Google Call Conversion Tracking is the part of the Google Ads tag that swaps the phone number on a website for a Google forwarding number when a visitor arrives from an ad, so Google Ads can count the call. Our October 2026 crawl finds its script on 139,086 live domains, 6th of the 82 technologies in Attribution & Conversion Tracking with 2.32% of the category. Below is the list of companies that use Google Call Conversion Tracking, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes UAB Medicine, NCR Voyix, Clarios, the Corcoran Group and the University of Rhode Island.
It's a tool for businesses that sell by phone. Construction leads the industries at 9.01%, twice its share on the Google Ads Conversion Tracking page (4.48%), and 87.25% of matched companies have 50 or fewer staff. The map follows Google's rules: forwarding numbers work in 30 countries, every country in our top 15 is one of them, and Australia (11,943 matched companies) sits second behind the United States (49,353).

Google Call Conversion Tracking Usage Statistics
Our crawl reads 115,429 domains in June 2026, 129,929 in July, 131,216 in August, 136,904 in September and 139,086 in October. Don't read that as a sales curve. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widens over time, so the June to July step is mostly our side. Exits we can count: 28,647 domains dropped the script on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and about one in five of them (5,452 of 28,652 in a recount) still run it on another hostname.

Expert Analysis: Google Call Conversion Tracking Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Most pixels in this category tell you a company advertises. This one tells you how it sells: by phone. Our October 2026 crawl finds Google's website call-tracking script on 139,086 live domains, 100,284 of them matched to a company, 6th of 82 in Attribution & Conversion Tracking with 2.32%. The script swaps a site's phone number for a Google forwarding number when the visitor came from an ad, so what follows is a list of Google Ads advertisers who care about calls.
What the count measures
A domain counts when a page loads Google's call-tracking script from gstatic.com/call-tracking, or the functions it defines. It isn't a separate product. On all 76 company sites in our sample where the script loaded, a Google Ads AW- account loaded too, and 69 of them installed the pair through Google Tag Manager. That's why only 49,921 of these domains also appear on the Google Ads Conversion Tracking page, whose rule reads the inline gtag form.
The monthly line runs from 115,429 domains in June to 139,086 in October. I wouldn't sell anything off that slope. The domains we crawl turn over every month, dead sites out and new ones in, and our detection widens over time, so most of the June to July step is ours.
"Call tracking is the Google Ads setting that tells you a business sells by phone. 139,086 sites have switched it on, and construction firms lead them." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: this is a pre-qualified list for anything that touches inbound calls: answering services, call analytics, scheduling. Every site on it runs Google Ads with calls as a goal.
No shared accounts to strip out
Before trusting a count like this I look for one account spread over many domains. I didn't find one. In raw HTML from 1,000 random domains, 334 showed an AW- ID, and no ID appeared more than twice. The clusters are small: pizza shops on Slice's ordering sites carry one page title on 169 domains, and dealer-website platforms sit under a few hundred car dealers each, Dealer Spike under 445 and Dealer Inspire under 371. None comes near 5% of the count.
Sales signal: treat it as one advertiser per domain. Dealer groups are the exception worth deduping before outreach.
Phone-led, small and established
Construction leads at 9.01%, twice its share on the conversion-tag page, followed by medical practices (5.7%), retail (4.52%), real estate (4.37%) and hospitals (3.17%). 87.25% of matched companies have 50 or fewer staff, and only 12.33% were founded in the 2020s, against 18.02% for Google's conversion tag. The 637 companies with more than 1,000 staff include NCR Voyix, Clarios and Cooper Standard on their main sites, UAB Medicine and the University of Rhode Island, and Little Caesars on its fundraising-programme site.
Sales signal: lead with contractors, clinics and agents. They already measure calls, so pitch what happens after the phone rings, not whether to track it.
A map drawn by Google's forwarding numbers
Website call tracking needs Google forwarding numbers, and Google offers them in 30 countries. Every country in our top 15 is on that list. The United States leads with 49,353 matched companies, and Australia (11,943) edges out the United Kingdom (11,172). Australia's count here is about two thirds of its count on the conversion-tag page (18,741); for the US the ratio is about a third, and for Brazil about a twentieth (1,848 against 37,272). The Netherlands and Turkey, both in the conversion tag's top 15, aren't forwarding-number countries and drop out.
Sales signal: of the countries in both top-15 tables, Australia has the biggest ratio, which makes it the obvious second market for anyone selling call analytics.
Switching and exits
The migration section is empty: no switching flow cleared our tests, and advertisers stack platforms: 59,477 of these domains run the Facebook Pixel today, 11,227 the LinkedIn Insight Tag and 4,061 TikTok Pixel. Exits we can count: 28,647 domains dropped the script on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026. About one in five of them (5,452 of 28,652 in a recount) still run it on another hostname.
"A site that drops Google's call tracking may not have stopped measuring calls. Google accepts imported calls from other systems, so the tracking can move to a paid platform and still report into Google Ads." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: for CallRail, Invoca and their peers, this list is the upgrade pool: businesses already convinced that calls are worth measuring, using the free tool that only sees Google traffic.
The stack around it
Google Tag Manager (99.51%) and Google Analytics (98.26%) look universal because our rules for both match the gtag.js library the call script loads through. DoubleClick Floodlight's 61.2% likely includes the Ads tag's own calls. The independent rows say more. Microsoft Advertising runs on 12.05%, nearly double its 6.28% on the conversion-tag page, so phone-led advertisers are likelier to buy Bing ads as well. WordPress is on 57.83% and Elementor on 21.48%; the most common consent tool, CookieYes, is on 5.69%.
Sales signal: a WordPress site with Google call tracking and no Bing tag is a two-line pitch for a local PPC agency.
Where it sits against the call-tracking platforms
The category table compares it with whole-platform pixels, which isn't the real contest. The rivals are dedicated call-tracking products in our Call Tracking category: CallRail on 74,460 domains and Invoca on 23,770, per their profiles. Google's option is free, per its setup guide, and limited to calls from people who clicked a Google ad. Google's own Help page lists imported call conversions from another system as one of five methods, which is the bridge the paid platforms use.
Sales signal: the pitch against Google's tool is coverage, every channel instead of one, not price.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Google Call Conversion Tracking?
Mostly small, phone-led businesses. Our October 2026 crawl finds Google's call-tracking script on 139,086 live domains, and construction firms lead the matched companies at 9.01%, ahead of medical practices (5.7%), retail and real estate. 87.25% have 50 or fewer staff. Larger users include UAB Medicine, NCR Voyix, Clarios and the Corcoran Group, each of which loaded it when we checked.
How many customers does Google Call Conversion Tracking have?
Google doesn't publish a number. Our October 2026 crawl finds the call-tracking script on 139,086 live domains, 100,284 of them matched to a company. All of them run Google Ads as well: in our browser checks, every site that loaded the script also loaded an AW- account. Since 16 March 2026, 28,647 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname.
What is Google Call Conversion Tracking's market share?
2.32% of Attribution & Conversion Tracking by domain count, 6th of the 82 technologies we track there. The comparison is uneven, because the larger rows are whole-platform tags such as the Facebook Pixel (3,625,109 domains) and Google's own conversion tag. Among dedicated call-tracking products, CallRail's profile counts 74,460 domains and Invoca's 23,770, both in our Call Tracking category.
What are the best alternatives to Google Call Conversion Tracking?
Dedicated call-tracking platforms: CallRail (74,460 domains in our crawl), Invoca (23,770), CallTrackingMetrics and WhatConverts. Google's Help page lists importing call conversions tracked in another system as one of its five methods, which is how these platforms report calls back into Google Ads. Google's own website call tracking is free but only counts calls from people who clicked a Google ad.
Which countries use Google Call Conversion Tracking the most?
The United States leads with 49,353 matched companies, then Australia (11,943), the United Kingdom (11,172), Canada (7,234) and India (3,083). Website call tracking needs Google forwarding numbers, which Google offers in 30 countries, and all 15 countries in our table are on that list. The Netherlands and Turkey, both in the top 15 for Google's conversion tag, are not.
What size companies use Google Call Conversion Tracking?
Mostly small ones. 56.39% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, 30.86% have 11 to 50 and 9.13% have 51 to 200. Only 637 have more than 1,000 staff. Among them, NCR Voyix, Clarios and Cooper Standard run it on their main sites, while Little Caesars uses it on its fundraising-programme site.
How old are companies that use Google Call Conversion Tracking?
Among the Google Call Conversion Tracking domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (35.22%), followed by the 2000s (21.62%). That matched subset is drawn from 100,284 companies and is not representative of all 139,086 detected domains. This suggests Google Call Conversion Tracking is most popular among relatively young companies.
What is the ideal customer profile for Google Call Conversion Tracking?
The ideal Google Call Conversion Tracking customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees (56.39%), Location: US, then Australia, UK, Canada, Industry: Construction, clinics, real estate, Founded: 2010-2019 (35.22%), Website: WordPress (57.83%) with the Google tag — based on our analysis of 100,284 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.
Can I track phone call conversions in Google Ads?
Yes. Google's Help page lists five ways: calls from ads, calls to a phone number on your website, clicks on a number on your mobile site, clicks on call ads and assets, and imported call conversions. This page counts the second. It needs the Google tag plus a phone snippet that shows a Google forwarding number to visitors who arrived from an ad.
How can I track a phone call conversion?
For calls from your website, Google's setup has two parts: create a call conversion action and install the Google tag, then add the phone snippet to every page that shows your number. The snippet swaps in a Google forwarding number for ad visitors, and calls longer than a minimum length you set count as conversions. Your business has to be in an eligible country.
If an advertiser uses Google's phone call conversion tracking feature, how are the calls tracked to their account?
Through the Google forwarding number. When a visitor arrives from an ad, the script replaces the number on the page with a forwarding number, so Google can tie the call to the ad, keyword and campaign. The account is the AW- ID in the tag: in our October 2026 browser checks, every site that loaded the call script also loaded one.
What is a Google phone forwarding number?
A phone number Google owns and assigns to an advertiser's call reporting. Calls to it ring through to the business, and Google records which ad led to the call. Google's Help page says the numbers can change or be reassigned, so they can't be used outside call reporting and website call tracking. They're available in 30 countries, including the US, UK, Australia and India.
Is Google call conversion tracking free?
Yes. Google's setup guide says you can use dynamically generated Google forwarding numbers that replace your business number on your site "without any cost to you". You pay for the ads themselves. The catch is scope: Google's website call tracking only counts calls from visitors who clicked a Google ad, so it won't attribute calls from other channels.
How to check Google conversion tracking?
Google's Help page points to Tag Assistant, where an "Inactive Tag" status usually means the tag or snippet isn't installed correctly. To check by hand, load the page with the network tab open and look for a script from gstatic.com/call-tracking next to a request carrying an AW- ID. The number swap itself only happens for visitors who arrived from an ad.
Google Ads call tracking vs CallRail: what's the difference?
Google's call tracking is free and built into Google Ads, but it only counts calls from people who clicked a Google ad. CallRail is a separate call-tracking product, and Google's Help page covers that route as imported call conversions, tracked in another system and loaded into Google Ads. In our crawl CallRail runs on 74,460 domains, per its profile, against 139,086 for Google's script.
Do you need the Google Ads conversion tag for call tracking?
Yes. Google's setup guide requires the Google tag plus the phone snippet. Only 49,921 call-tracking domains carry the conversion tag in the inline form our conversion rule reads, because most install both through Google Tag Manager: 69 of the 76 sites in our browser checks did. Every one of the 76 loaded a Google Ads AW- account alongside the call script.
