Companies Using iCloud Mail

iCloud Mail is the business mailbox of people who already pay Apple for storage. A domain counts here when its MX record points at Apple's iCloud mail servers, and 35,316 domains matched in our October 2026 crawl, 9th of 31 in Email & Webmail at 0.4%. We matched 14,880 of them to a company. Almost all of those companies are tiny, and that's the first thing a seller needs to know.

What the MX record shows

On 13 October 2026 I looked up the MX record of all 35,412 live domains in the set. 33,518 pointed at mx01 and mx02.mail.icloud.com, the pair Apple's setup page gives for custom domains. 145 pointed at a separate Apple host, mail.business.icloud.com; Apple Business, Apple's service for organisations, also sets up email on company domains. 905 returned no MX and 297 had moved elsewhere. The rest, 541 domains, matched only because another provider's mail host contains the letters "icloud.com": Huawei Cloud's mail service on huaweicloud.com, a mail service on mlicloud.com used by Brazilian organisations, and smaller hosts used by firms in Mexico, Qatar, Indonesia and the Philippines. That's 1.5% of the set. It barely moves the headline, but it filled the top of the company list with large Brazilian and Qatari organisations that didn't use Apple, so we removed them by hand.

Sales signal: confirm the exact Apple host before you call an iCloud domain an Apple customer. One lookup does it.

Big names, wrong vendor

The lookalikes are rare across the set but common at the top. Ranked by LinkedIn following, the first 90 matched companies looked nothing like the other 14,790: 38 used another provider's lookalike host, 3 had moved to Google or a Chinese host, and 49 pointed at Apple. Three of those 49 listed Apple beside another server: behind their own, behind a Barracuda filter or alongside Google. Several large organisations route their mail through regional providers whose host names happen to contain "icloud.com". So we filled the company list from the next 210 candidates, checked each MX record and opened each site, and kept 50 that run on Apple. The result is a list of design studios, consultancies, restaurants and small manufacturers, which is what the size chart says it should be.

Sales signal: treat any large organisation on an iCloud list as suspect until an MX lookup confirms it. The genuine buyers are small.

Personal domains, mostly

90.33% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 staff, and only 24 have more than 1,000. The founding years skew young: 44.03% in the 2010s and 36.73% in the 2020s. Apple's terms explain the shape. Custom Email Domain needs an iCloud+ plan and allows five domains with ten addresses each, and iCloud+ starts at $0.99 a month in the US. That's a family or a freelancer's budget line, not an IT purchase.

Sales signal: sell to the owner, not a department. Anything that needs an admin console or per-seat contracts is a poor fit.

Who they are and where

The United States leads with 4,246 matched companies, then the UK (1,277), Canada (670), Germany (531) and Australia (508). The four English-speaking markets hold about 45% of the matched base. By trade, IT services (7.52%) and software (7.05%) lead, and the creative cluster is unusually large: design, photography, media production and graphic design add up to 12.99%. The named list reads the same way: a design studio in Oslo, a communications agency in Alkmaar, an alarm installer in Belgium, a catering company in Chandigarh.

Sales signal: creative freelancers on Macs are the core segment. Portfolio sites, invoicing and booking tools have a clear audience here.

Inbound from Google

Since March 2026, 379 domains moved their mail from Google Workspace to iCloud, 111 of them in the last 30 days, and 111 went the other way. Titan Email sent 14 and took 5. The 111 leaving for Google is a floor, because a move to Google's newer smtp.google.com address doesn't yet register as Google Workspace in our data. Microsoft 365 runs both ways, 153 out and 256 in, so we don't publish it. Since we began tracking on 16 March 2026, 1,473 domains have dropped iCloud, and only 18 still use it on another hostname.

Sales signal: Google Workspace resellers selling to sole traders are losing some of them to Apple on price. A pitch built on shared drives and calendars works better than one built on email.

The stack around it

Across the 35,321 domains in our clean live set, GoDaddy appears on 18.34%, WordPress on 15.8% and Squarespace on 7.29%. GoDaddy Website Builder (4.23%) and Wix (3.77%) follow. Google Analytics is on 29.57%. Lapsed sites keep their mail: 341 raw domains show "Squarespace - Website Expired", and their owners still receive mail at Apple.

Sales signal: an expired site with live iCloud mail is an owner who still trades but stopped paying for the website. Website builders and agencies can start there.
