Companies Using Marsello
Our October 2026 crawl finds Marsello on 845 live domains, after we removed 1,106 where the tag is still on the page but Marsello's own server sends back an empty script. Most are small retailers' online stores: 91.59% of matched companies with a known country are in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the UK, and 91.24% of the 845 domains run Shopify and 24 run Ecwid. Below is the list of companies that use Marsello, including Charles Darwin University's bookshop, Neal's Yard Remedies, Gelato Messina and Four Pillars Gin.
Marsello sells points, referrals, email and SMS to retailers who sell in a shop as well as online, and its Shopify App Store listing gives an address in Wellington, New Zealand. It ranks 15th of the 51 tools we track in Loyalty & Rewards, with 0.67%. A web crawl only sees the storefront, so retailers that run Marsello purely at the till aren't in this count.

Marsello Usage Statistics
The chart shows a single point, 845 domains in October 2026, because our monthly totals still include stores whose Marsello script comes back empty. Uncleaned, those totals read 1,547 in June 2026 (not charted here), 1,798 in July and 1,769 in October. The June to July step reflects the domains we crawl turning over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widening. Since we began tracking Marsello on 16 March 2026, 215 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname, and 12 of them still run it on another.

Which Countries Use Marsello the Most?
Which countries use Marsello the most? The United States, with 223 matched companies, 49.34% of the 452 with a known country. Australia (83), New Zealand (51), Canada (35) and the United Kingdom (22) follow, and those five hold 414, 91.59%. New Zealand, Marsello's home market, ranks third, ahead of Canada and the UK. Singapore and South Africa have 5 each.
Share of the 459 Marsello domains we matched to a company record — 54.3% of the 845 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Marsello Market Share Among Loyalty & Rewards
What is Marsello's market share? On the cleaned count, 0.67% of Loyalty & Rewards, 15th of the 51 tools we track there, between SaaSquatch (947 domains) and Loyoly (810), based on our live crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. Smile leads with 48,800 domains (38.63%), and the other rivals in this table are Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals (9,741), LoyaltyLion (6,235) and BON Loyalty (4,415), all online-store loyalty apps. Marsello also runs loyalty at the till, which a web crawl can't see, so its share misses shops that use it only in store.

Marsello Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Marsello? Small ones. 64.92% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 26.49% have 11 to 50, so 91.41% have 50 staff or fewer, based on our analysis of 459 enriched companies. Only 5 have more than 200. The biggest names run one shop on Marsello: Charles Darwin University its campus bookshop, Neal's Yard Remedies its US online store.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group was founded in the 2010s (47.34%), then the 2000s (23.94%). Only 7.98% date from the 2020s, and 39 companies (20.74%) were founded before 2000, among them Big Ray's, an Anchorage store founded in 1947. That's an established-retailer profile: owners who have run a shop long enough to have a customer list worth rewarding.
What Industries Use Marsello the Most?
Retail leads at 44.77%, then Retail Apparel and Fashion (9.59%) and Food and Beverage Services (4.94%), based on our enriched company data. With Apparel & Fashion (2.62%), the retail and clothing labels cover 56.98% of the 344 matched companies with a known industry. Food and drink adds 10.17% across four labels, from restaurants to breweries, which fits a product built for businesses with a counter.
Food and drink brands using Marsello include Gelato Messina, Four Pillars Gin and Brick Lane Brewing, all in Australia. Fashion retailers on Marsello include Glass Onion Vintage in Barnsley, Nectar Clothing and Plenty in Vancouver. Campus and gift stores using Marsello include Charles Darwin University's bookshop, LEGO Certified Store South Africa and Tender Loving Empire in Portland, based on our enriched company data.
Marsello Alternatives & Competitors
Smile leads this table with 48,800 domains (38.63%), but on Marsello's cleaned set the two rarely meet: 12 of the 845 domains (1.42%) also run Smile. Before our cut, 105 Marsello domains ran Smile, and 93 of them were stores whose Marsello script came back empty, which looks like online loyalty moved to Smile while Marsello's tag stayed. LoyaltyLion runs on 10 of the 845. Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals (9,741) and BON Loyalty (4,415) complete the table. We publish no switching rows.

How We Counted Marsello Customers
A domain counts here if a page on it loads a Marsello script (from app.marsello.com or any marsello.app address) or sets Marsello's exit-popup cookie. That test finds 1,951 live domains. Each Marsello store's script address names its account, so on 15 October 2026 we requested all 1,685 distinct addresses we had seen on those domains. For 1,106 domains Marsello's server returned an empty file, and a slower re-fetch of 40 gave the same result. The tag was still in the page HTML on all 16 of those stores that answered our request, and the four we watched in a browser loaded the empty file and nothing else from Marsello. We removed them. The group looks like lapsed web programmes: 148 of the 1,106 (13.38%) ran another loyalty app, against 27 of the 644 domains with a working script (4.19%), and 93 of the 105 domains that ran Smile beside Marsello were in it.
Every chart and table on this page uses the remaining 845: 644 domains where Marsello sent a working script and 201 whose script address we couldn't read, which we keep. Our Loyalty & Rewards category table hasn't had this correction and lists Marsello at 1,769, which is why the two pages disagree; on the cleaned count Marsello is 15th with 0.67%. One caveat cuts the other way. A retailer that switched off the web widget but still runs Marsello at a Lightspeed or Shopify POS till looks the same from outside as a lapsed account, so some of the 1,106 may still be Marsello customers in store. The usage chart shows only October, because our monthly totals include the empty-script domains.
Expert Analysis: Marsello Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Marsello is the loyalty platform I'd expect to find in a shop with a till as well as a website, so I wanted to see what its web footprint shows. A domain counts here when a page loads a Marsello script (from app.marsello.com or any marsello.app address) or sets Marsello's exit-popup cookie. That test finds 1,951 live domains in our October 2026 crawl. Then I asked Marsello's own server what each store gets, and the answer cut the count to 845 live domains, 459 matched to a company, 15th of 51 in Loyalty & Rewards with 0.67%.
Installed is not the same as running
Every Marsello store loads a small script whose address names the store's account. On 15 October we requested all 1,685 distinct addresses. For 644 domains Marsello sent a working script. For 1,106 it sent an empty file, and a slower re-fetch of 40 gave the same result. The tags are still on those pages: all 16 empty-script stores that answered our homepage request carried the tag, and the four we watched in a browser loaded the empty file and nothing else from Marsello. Most of the tags sit on Marsello's older loader at app.marsello.com; the newer pos.marsello.app loader points each store at its own portal on marsello.app. We removed the 1,106 and kept 201 domains whose address we couldn't read.
The removed group looks like lapsed web programmes. 148 of the 1,106 (13.38%) ran another loyalty app, against 27 of the 644 working ones (4.19%). What we can't rule out is a retailer that switched the web widget off and still runs Marsello at the till.
Sales signal: for a rival, the removed stores are the better prospects. They still carry Marsello's tag but get nothing from it, and some already run another loyalty app.
One point on the chart
The chart shows only October's cleaned 845, because our monthly totals include the empty-script stores. Uncleaned, they read 1,547 in June 2026, 1,798 in July and 1,769 in October. The June to July step is mostly coverage: the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. 215 domains dropped Marsello on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and 12 still run it on another.
"Marsello's tag is on 1,951 domains, but its own server sends nothing to 1,106 of them. Count the scripts that run and the base is less than half the size." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: treat Marsello's web base as about 850 storefronts and flat. A pitch built on its growth won't survive a look at the store list.
Who buys it
64.92% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 26.49% have 11 to 50. Only 5 have more than 200. They're established: 47.34% were founded in the 2010s and only 7.98% in the 2020s, while 39 companies (20.74%) predate 2000. Big Ray's, an Anchorage store, dates to 1947. The largest names run a single shop on Marsello. Charles Darwin University uses it on its campus bookshop, Neal's Yard Remedies on its US store.
Sales signal: the buyer is the owner or manager of a small, established shop. They want one tool for points, email and SMS, and they'll listen to anything that saves them a monthly bill.
English-speaking, retail and food
The United States has 223 matched companies, then Australia (83), New Zealand (51), Canada (35) and the United Kingdom (22): together 414, 91.59% of the 452 with a known country. New Zealand ranks third. Retail and clothing labels cover 56.98% of matched companies with a known industry, and food and drink adds 10.17%, with Gelato Messina, Four Pillars Gin and Brick Lane Brewing among them.
Sales signal: Australia and New Zealand together hold 134 matched companies. A rival with support staff in those time zones has a practical edge.
Smile, Yotpo and the overlap
We publish no switching rows. Before the cut, Smile was the rival Marsello met most: 105 Marsello domains ran Smile, out of 136 ever seen with both. 93 of the 105 were stores where Marsello's script came back empty. On the cleaned 845, only 12 run Smile and 10 run LoyaltyLion. Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals and BON Loyalty each overlap on fewer than 10.
"When a Marsello store also ran Smile, Marsello's script was usually empty. That's a store that moved its web loyalty and never removed the old tag." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: for Smile, LoyaltyLion and the rest, Marsello's live base is mostly uncontested; the contested stores were the ones we removed. For Marsello, the 644 working installs are the base to protect.
The stack around it
Across the 845 domains, Shopify runs on 91.24% and Ecwid on 2.84%. Instafeed is on 23.55% and Judge.me on 22.13%. Email is crowded for a product that sells email: Klaviyo runs on 26.39% and Mailchimp on 16.45%. Square shows on 7.69% and Lightspeed eCom on 1.3%. Google Analytics is on 80%.
Sales signal: about a quarter of Marsello stores run Klaviyo beside a product that sells email. That's the overlap a Marsello rep would try to consolidate, and the one a Klaviyo rep would use against Marsello's add-on.
What merchants say
Marsello's Shopify App Store listing (15 October 2026) rates it 4.2 out of 5 from 162 reviews, with 127 five-star and 18 one-star. The listing dates the app to 29 May 2017, and two of the three reviews shown come from merchants with seven or eight years on it, which matches the older loader on so many stores. The most recent review, from 2 October 2026, complains of a $200 price rise to $525 a month and expiring SMS credits. That's one review, but price rises are also the most common complaint in the reviews we read (14 mentions).
Sales signal: price is the opening with long-tenured Marsello accounts. Lead with total monthly cost for loyalty plus email plus SMS.
What it costs
Marsello's pricing page (15 October 2026) lists Loyalty Launch from $60 a month per site and Loyalty Accelerate from $120, billed in USD, with each shop and each online store counted as a site. Marketing add-ons start at $15 per 1,000 customers and SMS at $0.028 per credit. Lightspeed users get custom pricing, and there's a 14-day free trial.
Key takeaways

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Marsello?
Small retailers, mostly. Our October 2026 crawl finds Marsello on 845 live domains, 91.24% of them Shopify stores. 91.41% of matched companies with a known size have 50 staff or fewer, and retail and clothing labels cover 56.98%. Named users include Charles Darwin University's bookshop, Neal's Yard Remedies, Gelato Messina, Four Pillars Gin and LEGO Certified Store South Africa.
How many customers does Marsello have?
Our October 2026 crawl counts 845 live domains, 459 matched to a company. That's after removing 1,106 domains that still carry Marsello's tag but get an empty script from Marsello's server, out of 1,951 that pass our detection test. Shops that use Marsello only at a point-of-sale till never appear in a web crawl, so the real customer count may be higher.
What is Marsello's market share?
On the cleaned count, 0.67% of Loyalty & Rewards, 15th of the 51 tools we track, with 845 domains, between SaaSquatch (947) and Loyoly (810). Our category table hasn't had this correction and still shows 1,769. Smile leads the category with 48,800 domains (38.63%). The share counts web storefronts only, so it misses retailers that use Marsello just in store.
What are the best alternatives to Marsello?
For online-first Shopify stores, Smile, Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals, LoyaltyLion and BON Loyalty are the apps in Marsello's table. Before our cut, 93 stores ran Smile beside a Marsello tag that served nothing. For shops that need loyalty at the till as well, check whether the rival connects to your point-of-sale system, such as Lightspeed or Shopify POS.

The larger names, such as Charles Darwin University and Neal's Yard Remedies, run Marsello on one shop rather than across the business.

So this is mostly a base of established shops with a customer list worth rewarding, not new direct-to-consumer brands.
