Companies Using Smile
Our October 2026 crawl finds Smile on 48,800 domains, more than the next four technologies in its category put together. Smile.io is run from Waterloo, Ontario, and was called Sweet Tooth until 2017. A store switches it on as a Shopify or BigCommerce app, and shoppers see a rewards launcher, a points panel and referral prompts on the storefront. Below is the list of companies that use Smile, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Eddie Bauer, Dickies, Nine West, Liquid Death, Spigen and Dark Horse Comics' online store.
Smile ranks 1st of the 51 technologies we track in Loyalty & Rewards, with 38.63% of the category and five times the domains of Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals. Its size comes from small stores. 74.21% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 staff, and Smile's Free plan covers stores with up to 200 orders a month. Shopify runs on 96.27% of Smile domains. One caveat: 786 domains in the count are Wix sites still calling a Smile script that stopped working when Smile ended its Wix integration in February 2025.

Smile Usage Statistics
Smile reads 38,414 domains in June 2026, 47,692 in July, 47,974 in August, 47,091 in September and 48,800 in October. The June to July step reflects changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we detect Smile with, rather than a surge in installs: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead stores dropping out and newly found ones added. Since July the line has stayed within about 1,700 domains. Since we began tracking Smile on 16 March 2026, 11,514 domains dropped it on at least one hostname, and about one in six of those still run it on another. That overstates churn: of 30 domains marked as having dropped Smile everywhere, 14 still loaded it when we opened them in a browser.

Which Countries Use Smile the Most?
Which countries use Smile the most? The United States, with 8,246 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (1,827), Canada (1,373), Australia (984) and India (424). Canada, Smile's home market, has one company for every six in the US; Yotpo Loyalty's profile has one for every 12. Asia shows up more than on rival apps: India, Singapore (293) and Malaysia (174) all make the top ten, with stores such as Zebronics, Classic Polo and Indonesia's Skintific and Erigo. These counts cover the 16,553 Smile domains we matched to a company.
Share of the 16,553 Smile domains we matched to a company record — 33.9% of the 48,800 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Smile Market Share Among Loyalty & Rewards
What is Smile's market share? 38.63% of Loyalty & Rewards, 1st of the 51 technologies in our category table at TechnologyChecker.io. Its 48,800 domains are five times Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals' 9,741 and more than the next four rows combined (41,827). Appstle is second with 21,436 domains (16.97%), but our count for it reads its subscriptions app's script, so it isn't a loyalty programme count. The loyalty rows all count storefronts loading the vendor's script in the same crawl, so they compare like for like. None counts paying accounts, and Smile, Yotpo and LoyaltyLion all offer a free plan.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Smile Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Smile? Very small ones. 74.21% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 19.92% have 11 to 50, so 94.13% have 50 staff or fewer. Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals (56.76% at 1 to 10) and LoyaltyLion (56.01%) sit well below that, per their profiles. Smile's Free plan, which has no time limit under 200 orders a month, likely explains much of it. Still, 32 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff, among them Eddie Bauer, Dickies, Nine West and EquipmentShare.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
Half of matched companies were founded in the 2010s (50.84%), and 24.51% date from the 2020s, against 15.63% on Yotpo Loyalty's profile and 12.97% on LoyaltyLion's. Only 11.68% were founded before 2000. The oldest names on the list are Camus, the cognac house (1863), Eddie Bauer (1920) and Bethel, the Redding church, founded in 1952.
What Industries Use Smile the Most?
Retail leads at 22.59%, then Retail Apparel and Fashion (10.83%), Food and Beverage Services (5.63%) and Personal Care Product Manufacturing (4.88%), based on our enriched company data. The five retail and fashion labels in the top ten add up to 40.52%. Food and drink is the second cluster, with Food and Beverage Services and Food and Beverage Manufacturing together at 8.41%.
Coffee and tea companies using Smile include Café Britt, Dunn Brothers Coffee, Ahmad Tea on its UK store and Sipology. Apparel brands on Smile include Eddie Bauer, Dickies, Nine West, Rebel Athletic and Blue Banana. Dermatology groups using Smile sell skincare through a points programme: Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery and Pinnacle Dermatology each run one on a shop subdomain, based on our enriched company data.
Smile Alternatives & Competitors
The other rows are Shopify loyalty apps too, and on Smile stores they are usually a second app, not a replacement. 402 Smile domains run Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals today, out of 549 ever seen with both. LoyaltyLion shares 253 (360 ever), BON Loyalty 125 (223) and Joy 51 (84). In every pair most stores still run both apps, so none passes our switching tests. Judge.me, a reviews app, runs on 36.02% of Smile domains, more often than any loyalty rival.

Expert Analysis: Smile Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I pulled Smile out of our October 2026 crawl expecting the category leader to look like a bigger version of its rivals. It doesn't. A domain counts here when a page creates Smile's JavaScript object or loads a script from a smile.io address. On Shopify that script now arrives through Smile's app embed, a small loader that fetches the programme once the page has finished loading. That gives 48,800 domains, 16,553 of them matched to a company, and 38.63% of Loyalty & Rewards, 1st of 51.
Flat since July
The chart reads 38,414 in June, 47,692 in July, 47,974 in August, 47,091 in September and 48,800 in October. The June to July step is ours. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead stores dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widened over the summer. Since July the line has stayed within about 1,700 domains. 11,514 domains dropped Smile on at least one hostname since we started tracking it on 16 March 2026, and about one in six of those still run it on another hostname. That figure overstates churn. I opened 30 domains our crawl marks as having dropped Smile everywhere, and 14 still loaded it. Smile's Shopify loader waits until the page has finished loading, and a scan that stops before then misses it, so some live installs sit outside the 48,800 as well.
"Three in four Smile customers we matched have ten staff or fewer, and one in four was founded this decade. If you sell to new Shopify stores, this is your list." - Elif Arslan, CMO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: treat Smile's list as large and fairly stable, and don't read the drop count as lost customers. Re-check a store before pitching it as a former Smile user.
What the count includes
I checked 580 Smile domains picked at random. 526 (90.7%) loaded Smile on the homepage. 21 (3.6%) were Shopify stores behind a password page, where Smile still loads but shoppers can't buy, and 16 (2.8%) were expired, parked or closed. Six were Wix sites. Smile ended its Wix integration in February 2025, and the script those sites still call returned an error when I requested it, so they run nothing. Across the whole count that is 786 Wix domains, about 1.6%. The old Sweet Tooth script address doesn't serve either; the one sampled store still calling it also loaded the current script.
Sales signal: drop Wix sites and password-page stores before a Smile list goes into a sequence. In my sample that removed about one row in 14.
Who the customers are
Smile's customers are smaller than its two biggest rivals'. 74.21% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 staff, against 56.76% on Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals' profile and 56.01% on LoyaltyLion's. They are younger too: 24.51% were founded in the 2020s. The Free plan likely explains a lot of it, since it costs nothing under 200 orders a month and doesn't expire. Still, 32 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff. Eddie Bauer, Dickies and Nine West run Smile on their main stores, while EquipmentShare, Advanced Dermatology and Bethel run it on a shop subdomain. Smile's published case studies include Blue Banana, the Spanish streetwear brand, and it is on our list as well.
Sales signal: with three in four Smile customers at ten staff or fewer, the founder usually picks the apps. Short trials and self-serve onboarding fit them better than a demo call.
Where they are
The United States has 8,246 matched companies, the United Kingdom 1,827, Canada 1,373 and Australia 984; with New Zealand, those five countries hold 12,647 of the 16,553. Canada, Smile's home market, has one company for every six in the US, twice Yotpo Loyalty's ratio. Asia shows up more than on rival pages: India has 424, Singapore 293 and Malaysia 174, and named stores include Zebronics, Classic Polo, ALLEN Career Institute's e-store, Skintific and Erigo. By industry the base is retail-led. Retail is 22.59%, Retail Apparel and Fashion 10.83% and Food and Beverage Services 5.63%.
Sales signal: Smile has 424 matched companies in India against 41 on Yotpo Loyalty's profile and 17 on LoyaltyLion's. Agencies and apps selling into Indian and Southeast Asian Shopify stores will find a longer list here.
Rivals on the same store
Our switching tests publish no corridor for Smile. 402 Smile domains run Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals today, out of 549 ever seen with both. LoyaltyLion shares 253 (360 ever), BON Loyalty 125 (223) and Joy 51 (84). In every pair most stores still run both apps, which usually means a migration in progress or an old app left installed, not a clean switch.
"Two loyalty apps on one store is either a migration halfway done or an old app nobody removed. Either way, someone at that store has a decision to make." - Elif Arslan, CMO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: the 402 stores running Smile and Yotpo together, and the 253 running Smile and LoyaltyLion, are the warmest accounts on this page for any loyalty vendor.
The stack around it
Of the 47,027 live Smile domains in our stack analysis, Shopify runs on 96.27%. Judge.me is on 36.02% and Klaviyo on 35.31%. Instafeed, an Instagram feed app, reaches 21.96% and Mailchimp 14.77%. The Klaviyo figure stands out. It is near 60% on Yotpo Loyalty's and LoyaltyLion's domains, against 35.31% here. Consent tools are rare too, with Pandectes on 2.76%.
Sales signal: about two in three Smile stores show no Klaviyo. For email and SMS tools, that is the gap to sell into.
What merchants pay
Smile's pricing page, checked on 15 October 2026, lists Free up to 200 monthly orders, Essential at $15 a month for 500, Standard at $79 for 1,000 and Growth at $199 for 2,500, then $20 per extra 100 orders. Growth is where VIP tiers start. Plus costs $999 a month billed annually for 7,500 orders, and Enterprise is quoted for retailers above $40M in revenue. Its Shopify listing shows 4.9 stars from 4,650 reviews.
Sales signal: order caps turn growth into a pricing event. A store crossing 1,000 orders a month moves from $79 to $199, which is when merchants compare apps.

Retail and fashion labels make up 40.52% of matched companies. Named Smile customers include Eddie Bauer, Dickies, Nine West, Liquid Death, Spigen and Dark Horse Comics' online store.
How many customers does Smile have?
Our October 2026 crawl finds Smile on 48,800 domains, 16,553 of them matched to a company. That counts stores, not paying accounts. In a random sample of 580 Smile domains, 90.7% loaded Smile on the homepage, 3.6% sat behind a Shopify password page and 2.8% were expired, parked or closed. Our drop count overstates churn: 14 of 30 domains marked as having left Smile still loaded it.
What is Smile's market share?
38.63% of Loyalty & Rewards, 1st of the 51 technologies in our category table. Smile's 48,800 domains are five times Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals' 9,741 and twice the four rivals in its competitor table combined: Yotpo, LoyaltyLion (6,235), BON Loyalty (4,415) and Joy (3,721) add up to 24,112. Every figure counts stores loading the vendor's script in the same crawl, so they compare like for like.
