Our October 2026 crawl finds GTranslate on 193,965 domains, third in Translation & Localization with 23.24%. About 19 in 20 of them run the free widget, which translates pages on the fly with Google's machine translation. In a sample of 271 homepages carrying GTranslate, 12 (4.4%) served translated pages on their own URLs, the mark of a paid plan. Below is the list of companies that use GTranslate, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Inspire Brands, the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service, Apollo Hospitals and FC Barcelona.

GTranslate's users look different from WPML's and Polylang's. The United States leads with 24,698 matched companies, 2.9 times WPML's US count, and non-profits, clinics and hospitals rank high: organisations that serve the public in many languages. 91.63% of GTranslate domains run WordPress. The rest include Joomla and Drupal sites, and public bodies such as the MTA and Fairfax County that load GTranslate's script on their own platforms.

GTranslate Usage Statistics

GTranslate reads 121,927 domains in June 2026, 139,236 in July, 163,188 in August, 179,217 in September and 193,965 in October. Unlike WPML's and Polylang's, its line was still rising in October, up 14,748 in a month, and we can't yet split that between new installs and our side. The domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our coverage and detection widened over the summer. Since 16 March 2026, 26,932 domains dropped GTranslate on at least one hostname, and 3,458 of those still run it on another.

List of Companies Using GTranslate

Who uses GTranslate? This list of companies that use GTranslate names 50 of the 124,007 matched companies, ranked by LinkedIn following. Each detection URL loaded GTranslate's plugin files or its script in our crawl, and we confirmed 45 of the 50 in October 2026; five sites in Brazil, Indonesia, Egypt and India didn't answer us. We dropped one row, a K-State page that no longer carries GTranslate. Public bodies, health systems and universities fill much of the list.

GTranslate Market Share Among Translation & Localization

What is GTranslate's market share? 23.24% of Translation & Localization, third of the 26 technologies we track there, based on our crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. It sits behind WPML (32.66%) and Polylang (31.72%) and is 2.7 times Weglot (8.48%). The comparison isn't like for like. WPML and Polylang manage translated content inside WordPress, while GTranslate's free widget translates the page in the visitor's browser, and only about one site in 23 in our sample pays for translated pages that search engines can index.

GTranslate Customers by Company Size & Age

What size companies use GTranslate? The smallest of the three big plugins' customers. 57.44% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.83% have 11 to 50. Only 1,733 have more than 1,000 staff, but that is where the paid plans show up: 12 of the 73 large-company pages we checked used a paid setup, against 4.4% of randomly sampled GTranslate sites.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

The largest group was founded in the 2010s (34.03%), then the 2000s (18.33%) and the 2020s (18.3%), the highest 2020s share of the three big translation plugins (WPML 12.21%, Polylang 17.32%). About 29% were founded before 2000. The oldest names on the list are universities and public bodies, from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (1613) and Rutgers (1766) to the IRS (1862), which use it to reach students, residents and patients in their own languages.

What Industries Use GTranslate the Most?

Non-profit Organizations lead at 3.38%, then Hospitality (3.1%), Business Consulting and Services (3.01%) and Medical Practices (2.63%), based on our enriched company data. Medical Practices and Hospitals and Health Care together reach 5.18%, more than any single industry. Neither healthcare category is in WPML's or Polylang's top ten, so GTranslate's niche is organisations that serve the public in many languages more than businesses selling abroad.

Business Consulting and Services3,286 (3.01%)

Hospitals using GTranslate include Apollo Hospitals and Medanta in India, both on paid setups with translated pages on their own URLs, and Boston Medical Center and UMass Memorial Health in the United States. Public bodies on GTranslate include the MTA, Fairfax County and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Universities using GTranslate include UC Berkeley's financial-aid office and Rutgers University-Camden.

GTranslate Alternatives & Competitors

GTranslate's two bigger rivals do a different job. WPML (272,552 domains) and Polylang (264,705) keep translated content inside WordPress, while GTranslate's free widget translates on the fly. Its closest rival is Weglot (70,798), a hosted service, and ConveyThis (1,468) is small. 1,856 domains run GTranslate and Polylang together, 612 run it with WPML and 215 with Weglot. The WordPress pairs pass none of our switching tests. The one flow that does is measured from Weglot's side: 114 domains moved from Weglot to GTranslate.

Expert Analysis: GTranslate Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

David Thomson
David ThomsonCTO, TechnologyChecker

GTranslate is the odd one among the three translation plugins at the top of our table. WPML and Polylang manage translated content. GTranslate's free widget hands the page to Google's machine translation in the visitor's browser. I oversee the detection side of our crawl, and the rule here is simple: a domain counts when it loads GTranslate's WordPress plugin files or its script from cdn.gtranslate.net. In a random sample of 300 live GTranslate domains, 271 of the 275 homepages that loaded showed GTranslate. Our October 2026 crawl finds 193,965 domains, 124,007 matched to a company, third in Translation & Localization with 23.24%.

Free widget, paid URLs

GTranslate's settings on the page tell us which kind of setup a site runs. The free widget translates in place. Paid plans serve translated pages on their own URLs, in sub-directories or on sub-domains, which search engines can index. Of the 271 sampled homepages, 256 ran the free widget and 12 a paid setup (7 sub-directories, 4 sub-domains and one older paid configuration); we couldn't read the other 3. That's 4.4% paid. Large organisations pay more often: 12 of the 73 big-organisation pages we checked used a paid setup, among them Apollo Hospitals, Medanta, MultiCare and FC Barcelona's Barça Vision.

Sales signal: about 19 in 20 GTranslate sites run the free widget, so this is a list of upgrade and replacement prospects, not of paying customers.

What the free plan leaves out

GTranslate's pricing table (checked 15 October 2026) marks the free plan as not for commercial use, with no search engine indexing, no translation editing and no URL translation. Paid plans run from Custom at $12 a month ($120 a year) for one extra language, through Startup at $25 and Business at $35, which adds URL translation, to Enterprise at $50, which adds hosting a language on a country domain. Every paid plan starts with a 15-day trial. Our crawl shows the effect of the indexing gap: only 11 of 275 sampled homepages carried hreflang language links.

Sales signal: for GTranslate's own team and for Weglot, a business site on the free widget is the upgrade case. Its translated pages don't exist for search engines.

What the monthly line shows

The chart reads 121,927 in June, 139,236 in July, 163,188 in August, 179,217 in September and 193,965 in October. Unlike WPML's and Polylang's, the line was still rising into October, up 14,748 domains in a month. We can't yet split that between new installs and our side. The domains we crawl turn over every month, dead ones leaving and new ones arriving, and our coverage and detection widened through the summer. Since 16 March 2026, 26,932 domains dropped GTranslate on at least one hostname, and 3,458 of them still run it on another.

"GTranslate counts sites that wanted another language for free. Only about one in 23 in our sample pays for translated pages that search engines can see." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: wait for the next two monthly readings before calling this growth. If the line keeps rising once our coverage settles, the free widget is still winning new sites.

Public bodies and hospitals

The United States leads with 24,698 matched companies, 2.9 times WPML's US count and 3.7 times Polylang's, then Spain (13,920), Brazil (7,962) and Italy (6,408). Non-profit Organizations lead the industries at 3.38%, and Medical Practices (2.63%) plus Hospitals and Health Care (2.55%) add up to 5.18%. The named list is full of organisations that serve the public in many languages: the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service, the MTA, Fairfax County, HUD, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Boston Medical Center. Many of those sites aren't WordPress. 29 of the 73 big-organisation pages we checked loaded GTranslate's script on another platform, against about 8% of all GTranslate domains.

Sales signal: public bodies and hospitals have already shown the need with a free widget. For translation vendors and accessibility firms they are the best-qualified part of this list.

Who the customers are

57.44% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.83% have 11 to 50, the smallest profile of the three big plugins, and 18.3% were founded in the 2020s. 1,733 companies have more than 1,000 staff. Inspire Brands runs GTranslate on its stories site, Lenovo on its Pro community for small businesses and TDK on its SensEI product site. WooCommerce runs on 23.1% of live GTranslate domains (45,603 of them), more than on WPML's (18.88%) or Polylang's (13.35%).

Sales signal: below 50 staff, sell simplicity and price. Above 1,000, sell indexable, edited translations, because that is where the paid setups are.

Rivals on the same site

1,856 domains run GTranslate and Polylang today, out of 2,682 that ran both at some point since March. 612 run it with WPML and 215 with Weglot. The one flow that passes our switching tests is measured from Weglot's side: 114 domains moved from Weglot to GTranslate. GTranslate's Shopify app is a separate product in our catalogue, so Shopify stores using it aren't in this count.

"Nearly seven in ten domains that ever ran GTranslate next to Polylang still run both. The widget sits beside translation plugins far more often than it replaces them." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: GTranslate's paid plans and Weglot sell much the same thing, translated pages served from the vendor's side. Weglot's 70,798 domains are GTranslate's natural prospect list, and the free-widget sites are Weglot's.

The shares aren't like for like: WPML and Polylang store translated pages in WordPress, while most GTranslate sites run a free widget that translates in the visitor's browser.

What are the best alternatives to GTranslate?

Weglot is the closest: a hosted service that serves translated pages search engines can index, on WordPress and other platforms. Polylang and WPML store translations inside WordPress and suit sites that want edited translations. ConveyThis is a smaller hosted option. Sites rarely swap: 1,856 domains run GTranslate with Polylang, 612 with WPML and 215 with Weglot, and the one flow that passes our switching tests, measured from Weglot's side, is 114 domains moving from Weglot to GTranslate.

The United States, with 24,698 matched companies, then Spain (13,920), Brazil (7,962), Italy (6,408), the Netherlands (5,563) and the United Kingdom (5,070). That US figure is 2.9 times WPML's and 3.7 times Polylang's, making GTranslate the only one of the three big plugins led by the US. Counts cover the 124,007 domains we matched to a company.

How much does GTranslate cost per month?

GTranslate's pricing table lists a free plan, then Custom at $12 a month for one extra language, Startup at $25, Business at $35, which adds URL translation, and Enterprise at $50, which adds hosting a language on a country domain. Paying yearly costs $120, $250, $350 and $500, two months free. Paid plans come with a 15-day trial. Checked 15 October 2026.

Is GTranslate free?

The widget is. GTranslate's free plan covers every language and unlimited pageviews using Google's machine translation, but its pricing table marks it as not for commercial use, with no search engine indexing, no translation editing and no URL translation. In our sample, 256 of 271 GTranslate homepages ran the free widget and 12 a paid setup. Checked 15 October 2026.

Can I translate my WordPress site using GTranslate?

Yes. GTranslate's WordPress plugin is free on WordPress.org, which lists more than 900,000 active installations, and 91.63% of the GTranslate domains in our crawl run WordPress. The free widget adds a language selector and machine-translates pages in the visitor's browser. Translated pages on their own URLs, which search engines can index, need a paid plan.

Is GTranslate good for SEO?

Only on a paid plan. GTranslate's pricing table excludes search engine indexing from the free plan, because the free widget translates in the browser and creates no translated URLs. Our crawl matches that: only 11 of the 275 sampled homepages carried hreflang language links, against most WPML and Polylang homepages. Paid plans serve translated pages on sub-directories or sub-domains.

What is the difference between GTranslate and Weglot?

Most GTranslate sites run a free widget that translates in the browser, while Weglot serves hosted translations that search engines can index, on many platforms. Our crawl finds GTranslate on 193,965 domains and Weglot on 70,798. GTranslate's paid plans compete directly with Weglot, but only 4.4% of sampled GTranslate sites used one. 215 domains run both today.

Does GTranslate work without WordPress?

Yes. GTranslate also has a Joomla extension and a script any site can load. In our crawl 91.63% of GTranslate domains run WordPress, Joomla shows on 1.78% and Drupal on 1.15%. Large public bodies are over-represented among the rest: 29 of the 73 big-organisation pages we checked weren't WordPress, including the MTA, Fairfax County and HUD.
