Companies Using Ecwid
Our database tracks 9,705 domains running Ecwid, including Jimmy John's, Carlo's Bakery, Nipissing University, Menzies LLP and Caritas. Below you'll find the full list of companies using Ecwid with market share, industry breakdowns and geographic data across 6,406 enriched company profiles.
If you have seen a much larger figure for Ecwid, including on this page previously, it was wrong, and it is worth explaining why. Ecwid is the store engine bundled inside Duda, and our earlier detection counted the bundled script as an Ecwid installation. That inflated Ecwid to roughly the size of Duda's entire platform. Checking the two series against each other makes it obvious: they tracked within 3-7% of one another for four and a half straight years, which is not what two independent products look like. We now count only sites where an Ecwid store is actually running, and that number is 9,705.

Ecwid Usage Statistics
We currently detect Ecwid on 9,705 active domains, and this figure is far lower than what we published before. The correction is real and worth stating plainly.
Ecwid is the commerce engine Duda bundles with its website builder. Our earlier detection treated the presence of the bundled script as an Ecwid store, so essentially every Duda site was counted as an Ecwid customer. The evidence is unambiguous: across four and a half years the two counts moved in lockstep, holding a ratio between 1.03 and 1.07 the entire time. Two independent products do not behave that way; one measurement counted twice does. Checking directly, an Ecwid store is genuinely active on only about 1% of Duda sites.
The current count requires the Ecwid or EcwidCart JavaScript object to be present and initialised, which means a real storefront. As with every count on this site, the domains we crawl turn over every month, so long-range comparisons are not like-for-like in any case. Churn we observe directly is 813 domains since March 2026.

There are 9,705 companies and websites using Ecwid, sign up to download the entire Ecwid dataset.
Organisations our crawler currently detects running Ecwid:
- Jimmy John's - US sandwich franchise
- Carlo's Bakery - the Hoboken bakery of Cake Boss fame
- Nipissing University - Canadian university
- Menzies LLP - UK accountancy firm
- Caritas - the international Catholic charity network
- Bellarmine College Preparatory - US private school
Each is a live detection of a running Ecwid store. The list is smaller and less corporate than what this page carried before, and that is the point: it now reflects sites actually selling through Ecwid.
Which Countries Use Ecwid the Most?
Which countries use Ecwid the most? The United States leads with 36.8% of companies whose country we know, followed by the United Kingdom at 10.9%, Germany at 8.3%, Canada at 6.2% and the Netherlands at 5.7%. English-speaking markets account for 61.8% of the base and Europe for 44.2%. The German and Dutch showings are stronger than the category norm and reflect Ecwid's long-standing multilingual positioning for very small merchants.
Ecwid Market Share Among Ecommerce Platforms
What is Ecwid's market share? Ecwid holds 0.15% of the ecommerce platform category, ranking #20. That is a substantial downward revision from previously published figures, for the measurement reason set out above rather than because Ecwid lost customers. In its actual niche, a widget that adds a store to a site built elsewhere, the comparison set is not Shopify or Magento but the bundled commerce modules of website builders, and there Ecwid is the independent option a site owner adds deliberately.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Ecwid Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Ecwid? It is the smallest-business platform in this category. 81.41% have 1-10 employees and another 15.48% have 11-50, putting 96.89% under fifty people, the highest micro-business concentration of any ecommerce platform we track. That is exactly the audience a bolt-on store widget is built for: a bakery, a studio, a small food producer that needs to take a handful of orders without rebuilding its website.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
What Industries Use Ecwid the Most?
Retail leads at 20.21%, followed by Retail Apparel and Fashion (3.64%), Food and Beverage Services (2.96%) and Restaurants (2.69%). The food cluster is distinctive: taken together, food service and restaurants account for over 5.6% of Ecwid's base, a higher share than on any other platform in this category. A widget that adds ordering to an existing site is a natural fit for a café or bakery, and the data reflects that directly.
Retail businesses using Ecwid make up 20.21% of the base, a genuine commerce concentration that confirms the current count measures real storefronts. The food cluster is what distinguishes it: Food and Beverage Services (2.96%) plus Restaurants (2.69%) exceed 5.6% combined, well above the category norm, and our live detections include Jimmy John's and Carlo's Bakery. Apparel (3.64%) and small manufacturers round out the mix. This is a base of very small physical businesses adding online ordering to a site they already had, which is precisely the product's intended use.
Ecwid Alternatives & Competitors
Ecwid ranks #20 in the ecommerce platform category at 0.15%. Ranking it against Shopify (34.42%) or Magento (0.89%) is not very informative, since Ecwid is not trying to be a commerce platform, it is a widget that adds a store to a site built on something else. Its practical competition is the bundled commerce module of whatever builder the site already uses, and its pitch is that it works regardless of what that builder is.

Ecwid Customer Migration
Since our crawler began tracking Ecwid in March 2026, it has gained 66 domains and lost 111, a net of −45 on a base of 9,705. Shopify is the main destination, taking 53 against 27 returned, with Squarespace Commerce taking 24 and WooCommerce even at 26 in and 27 out. These are very small volumes and the honest reading is that Ecwid's base is largely static: the merchants who use it are not the kind who replatform often, because for them the store is a small part of a site that works.

Tech Stack of Ecwid-Powered Websites
Based on the 9,705 domains where we detect Ecwid, the standout number is Vue.js on 87.72%, the second-highest Vue concentration we measure on any technology, after Strapi. That is Ecwid's own storefront application rather than a merchant choice: the widget is built in Vue, so it appears wherever the store does. Google Analytics reaches 45.79% and Kliken, a small-business advertising tool bundled through Ecwid's own marketplace, appears on 30.7%, an unusually high share for a niche product and a clear sign of how much of this base buys through Ecwid's app store rather than assembling a stack themselves.

Expert Analysis: Ecwid Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

With 10+ years in web crawling and technology detection, I've analyzed Ecwid's footprint across 137,062 active domains with a 63.6% company match rate (87,151 enriched companies). Ecwid by Lightspeed occupies a distinctive niche as an embeddable commerce widget rather than a standalone platform. That distinction shapes every data pattern below, and it creates specific sales opportunities most teams miss.
1. Growth Trajectory: COVID Surge to Post-Pandemic Correction
Ecwid's growth story has two chapters. From 2010 to early 2020, the platform grew modestly, reaching 13,000 active domains. Then COVID hit. Businesses scrambled to add online selling, and Ecwid, designed to embed into any existing site, was the fastest path. Active domains jumped from 13,000 to 54,000 in eight months (January–August 2020). Growth continued post-pandemic, peaking at 137,083 active domains in April 2025. The most recent data shows a decline to 128,541 by July 2025, a 6.2% drop that suggests the pandemic-era cohort is now churning.
Sales Signal: The 2020 pandemic cohort (roughly 40,000 stores opened in a single year) is now 5 years old. Many are outgrowing Ecwid's limitations or shutting down. If you sell migration tools, payment processing, or marketing automation, this cohort is ripe for outreach. Filter by founded date 2020 to isolate them.
2. Customer Profile: Micro-Businesses Adding Commerce to Existing Sites
Ecwid has the highest micro-business concentration of any ecommerce platform in our dataset: 89.4% of companies have 1-10 employees. Add the 11-50 bracket and 97.8% are SMBs. The typical Ecwid merchant was founded in the 2010s (40.4%), operates from the US (43.3%), and works in construction (9.16%), retail (4.80%), or local services (4.69%). These aren't digital-native DTC brands. They're local businesses that already have a website and need a way to accept payments or sell a few products.
Sales Signal: Ecwid's audience is fundamentally different from Shopify's. These are service businesses (contractors, medical practices, restaurants), not traditional ecommerce companies. If you sell to small local businesses, the Ecwid customer list is a filtered database of companies that have taken their first step into online selling. They'll need accounting tools, scheduling software, and local marketing next.
3. Industry & Geographic Concentration
Construction at 9.16% is Ecwid's #1 vertical, an anomaly for an ecommerce platform. This isn't traditional online retail. It's contractors selling parts or scheduling services through embedded storefronts. The US leads at 43.3%, but Europe collectively accounts for 35%+, with clusters in the UK (9.6%), Germany (7.2%), Italy (4.4%), and France (4.3%). Brazil (1,882 companies) and Australia (4,102) are the largest non-Western markets.
Sales Signal: The construction + local services + micro-business pattern means these are businesses entering ecommerce for the first time. They're likely using basic payment processing and no CRM. Targeted outreach to "construction companies using Ecwid" or "medical practices on Ecwid" will resonate because these businesses haven't been heavily prospected by ecommerce-focused vendors.
4. Migration Patterns: Net Outflow Signals Growth Ceiling
Ecwid's migration data tells a clear story about its growth ceiling. Shopify gained 2,962 ex-Ecwid merchants while sending only 517 back, a 5.7:1 loss ratio. Wix eCommerce absorbed 3,554 against 2,079 inbound. WooCommerce is the only near-breakeven competitor at 3,743 lost vs. 4,027 gained. In the last year alone, Ecwid lost 482 to Shopify, 563 to Wix, and 609 to WooCommerce.
Sales Signal: Merchants leave Ecwid when they outgrow the embedded model. The 482 annual Shopify migrations are warm leads for anyone selling Shopify apps, themes, or services. Position outreach around the pain points that trigger migration: limited design control, no native marketing tools, and product catalog constraints (100 products on the $35/month Venture plan).
5. Tech Stack Ecosystem: The Duda Partnership Dominates
The most striking finding: 83.3% of Ecwid sites run on Duda CMS (72,619 companies). This isn't random; Ecwid is Duda's native ecommerce integration. When a Duda user enables their online store, they get Ecwid. Beyond Duda, Wix (10.9%) and WordPress (5.6%) are the only other significant CMS platforms. Google Analytics is used by 38.4% of merchants, and HubSpot appears on 3.46%, indicating some Ecwid merchants have graduated to more advanced marketing stacks.
Sales Signal: Target Duda agencies and resellers, as they control the technology stack for 83% of Ecwid merchants. A single agency partnership could open access to hundreds of end merchants. Lead with: "We've identified 72,619 businesses running Ecwid through Duda. Want to see which of your clients' competitors are on the platform?"
Customer Sentiment (G2 Reviews)
The G2 review base for Ecwid isn't massive yet, but the signals are useful. Reviewers consistently cite ease of use as the primary reason they chose the platform. The main criticism, delayed updates, shows up across multiple reviews. For sales teams, users who stick with Ecwid do so because of ease of use; be prepared to address concerns about delayed updates in any evaluation.
Customer Sentiment (G2)
Our detection data combined with G2 sentiment paints a clear picture. The top signal from G2 reviewers is ease of use (2 mentions). On the flip side, delayed updates (1 mentions) surfaces as the primary concern.
Key Takeaways
- Ecwid is not a Shopify competitor; it's an embeddable widget for existing sites. 83% run on Duda.
- 89.4% micro-businesses, the highest small-business concentration of any ecommerce platform we track.
- Construction is #1 at 9.16%, local service businesses, not traditional online retail.
- Net migration outflow: growing merchants leave for Shopify (5.7:1 loss ratio), Wix, and WooCommerce.
- COVID cohort aging out: 40K stores opened in 2020 are now 5 years old and showing churn signals.
Sales Applications
Outreach Template: "We analyzed 137,062 Ecwid stores and found that 83% run on Duda, with Construction as the top industry and 89.4% having fewer than 10 employees. Here are 50 Ecwid merchants in [your target vertical], and most haven't been approached by ecommerce-focused vendors yet."
Targeting Strategy: Segment by Duda vs. non-Duda. The 17% of Ecwid users on other CMS platforms are more likely to be intentional Ecwid choosers, not Duda defaults. Further segment by company age: 2020-founded merchants are the most likely to be evaluating alternatives right now.
Competitive Angle: If you sell Shopify migration services, the 2,962 companies that already left Ecwid for Shopify validate the pitch. Show prospects: "Here's what triggered the switch for companies like yours, and here's how to make the transition smooth."

Most 'Ecwid stores' in our dataset are actually Duda websites with embedded commerce functionality.
