Companies Using Framer Motion

Our October 2026 crawl finds Framer Motion rendering on 405,042 live domains. Those are websites, not paying accounts. The library is free, so this list of companies that use Framer Motion counts every domain where an animated Motion component mounted while we loaded the page. 240,728 of the domains match a company record, and the ones we checked by hand include Airbnb's homepage, Southwest Airlines, PepsiCo and Kraft Heinz.

The library has a newer name. In November 2024 its creator, Matt Perry, took Framer Motion independent as Motion, and new projects install it as the motion package. The old package still ships. About one in six of these sites (68,667 of 405,423 in our raw live set) is built with Framer, the site builder that still runs its animations on Motion. Framer Motion ranks #32 by domain count among the JavaScript libraries we track.

Framer Motion Usage Statistics

Our current crawl counts 228,023 Framer Motion domains in June 2026 and 405,042 in October, 1.78 times as many in four months. Don't read that as installs. Counts are not a like-for-like series over time: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. The two biggest monthly steps, into July and into September, reflect changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we detect Motion with, rather than a surge in adoption.

Exits are easier to read. Since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, 53,094 domains have stopped showing the signal. That's movement observed since March, not a lifetime total, and not every one of them left: a 12 October re-check found 6,600 of the 53,866 domains on that list by then still running Motion on another hostname.

List of Companies Using Framer Motion

Our list of companies using Framer Motion covers 240,728 organisations matched from 405,042 detected domains. Every size, industry and country percentage on this page describes that matched set, after we set aside 451 for-sale and gambling pages (0.1%).

Among the named brands that use Framer Motion, check the detection URL before the logo. Airbnb, Southwest Airlines and Kraft Heinz show it on their main sites. Nike's detection is its newsroom, the FAA's is modernskies.faa.gov and TSMC's is its ESG site. SAP, Uber and Verizon show it on careers sites that load their assets from the same careers-site provider, so those three are one vendor's build. For the 68,667 websites using Framer Motion that are Framer sites, the builder made the choice, not the company.

Download all 405,042 Framer Motion customers with full company data, or create a signal to track when companies start or stop using Framer Motion.

Which Countries Use Framer Motion the Most?

Which countries use Framer Motion the most? The United States leads with 52,759 matched companies, 21.92% of the 240,728 we matched, and India is second with 26,461, about half the US figure. The United Kingdom (15,173) and Brazil (13,928) follow, then Germany (9,421) and Canada (7,128). The United Arab Emirates (3,708) places ahead of Spain, Turkey and Italy, and Nigeria (2,377) makes the top fifteen. Motion is free, so the spread tracks where React sites get built, with no sales team shaping it.

Framer Motion Market Share Among JavaScript Libraries

What is Framer Motion's market share? Framer Motion holds 0.45% of the JavaScript Libraries category and ranks #32 by domain count, based on our live crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. That category puts general-purpose utilities next to animation tools, so the share says little on its own. Among the animation libraries in the same table, Motion is smaller than GSAP (2,909,817 domains) and AOS (691,190) but larger than anime.js (292,730), LottieFiles (253,798) and Lenis (180,138). Our count is also a floor: a site that bundles Motion but renders nothing animated on the page we load isn't counted.

Framer Motion Customers by Company Size & Age

Is Framer Motion only used by small companies? Mostly, yes. 64.76% of matched companies have 1-10 employees and another 23.49% have 11-50, so 88.25% have 50 or fewer, based on 231,777 companies with a published size band. The tail still holds 2,444 companies above 1,000 employees: 1,623 at 1,001-5,000, 333 at 5,001-10,000 and 488 above 10,000. At that size, check which property carries it: Nike's detection is its newsroom and SAP's a careers site, while Bayer and Kraft Heinz run it on their main sites.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

45.58% of matched companies with a known founding year were founded in the 2020s and 35.6% in the 2010s, so 81.18% date from 2010 or later. Only 1.31% (1,990 companies) predate 1960. That older group still includes thyssenkrupp (founded 1811), which runs Motion on its jobs board, and Bayer (1863), which runs it on bayer.com.

What Industries Use Framer Motion the Most?

Software Development leads at 8.6%, followed by IT Services and IT Consulting (8.36%) and Technology, Information and Internet (6.49%). Those three add up to 23.45% of matched companies, and no other industry reaches 4%, so the rest of the base is spread thin across sectors, based on our enriched company data.

For many of their clients, the agency may well have picked the animation library. Financial services companies on Framer Motion make up 3.23% (7,291), and banks use it on customer-facing pages such as Itaú's feito.itau.com.br and Huntington's main site. Real estate and construction companies using Framer Motion number 10,191 between them (5,484 and 4,707).

Framer Motion Alternatives & Competitors

Read this table as animation neighbours: tools that sit in the same slot on a page, each doing a narrower or different job. GSAP (3.24%) is the largest, on 2,909,817 domains, and has been free for all users thanks to Webflow's support. Many sites run both: 25,228 domains carry GSAP and Motion today. AOS (0.77%) handles simple scroll reveals, anime.js (0.33%) is a lighter timeline library and LottieFiles (0.28%) plays designer-made vector animations. Lenis (0.2%) is a smooth-scroll helper that sits beside Motion more often than it replaces it: 41,580 domains run the two together.

Framer Motion Customer Migration

Which libraries did Framer Motion sites replace? The one row we publish is anime.js. 1,355 domains that run Motion today have dropped anime.js since tracking began in March, 991 of them in the last 90 days and 265 in the last 30, while 142 went the other way. These are unrelated sites, 84.6% on Tailwind CSS and 47.1% on Next.js, with no shared platform behind them, and 973 of the 2,571 domains ever seen with both still run both. Expert Analysis: Framer Motion Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Mehmet Suleyman
Mehmet SuleymanCEO & Co-founder, TechnologyChecker

I've spent most of my career on web crawlers, and animation libraries are usually hard to count: they leave little trace in a page's source. Framer Motion is easier than most, because the library announces itself once it runs. As of our October 2026 crawl, TechnologyChecker.io finds it on 405,042 live domains, and 240,728 of them match a company record. The count holds up well. The company list behind it needs more care than its logos suggest.

What the signal catches

Our rule reads one global variable, window.MotionIsMounted. Motion's React code sets it to true in the hook that mounts each animated component. So a domain counts only if a motion component rendered while we loaded the page. A site that bundles the library but shows nothing animated on that page is missed, which makes 405,042 a floor.

I checked the rule against our named list by loading every detection URL in a headless browser. Of the 48 pages that loaded for us, 46 had the flag set, and only one of those 46 was a Framer site. The two misses were regional redirects that served us a different page.

Framer Motion is now Motion

On 12 November 2024 the library's creator, Matt Perry, announced that Framer Motion was going independent as Motion, with Framer's blessing and with Framer as its first sponsor. The project moved to motion.dev and added vanilla JavaScript and later Vue APIs. Most codebases haven't caught up with the name. In the week of 4 to 10 October 2026, npm counted 50,936,387 downloads of framer-motion against 24,988,183 of motion, and both packages reached version 14.1.0 on the same day. That's why this page keeps the old name: people still search for it and still install it.

One in six is a Framer site

Framer, the site builder, runs its animations on Motion, and Perry's post says that won't change. In our raw live set, 68,667 of 405,423 domains (16.9%) are also detected as Framer sites. They carry Motion because the builder ships it, not because anyone on the team picked an animation library. Other platforms add smaller groups: WordPress on 12,850 domains, Shopify on 11,732, Elementor on 5,651, Webflow on 2,209, Wix on 2,126 and Lovable on 1,633. Most of what's left is custom React builds.

Sales Signal: Split the list before you call anyone. A Framer site is a prospect for Framer templates, agencies and plugins, not for developer tooling. The developer audience is in the other five-sixths.

Growth trajectory

Our current crawl counts 228,023 Framer Motion domains in June 2026, 286,338 in July, 309,663 in August, 392,514 in September and 405,042 in October. Counts are not a like-for-like series over time: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. The jumps into July and September reflect changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we detect Motion with, rather than a surge in adoption.

Exits are easier to read. 53,094 domains have stopped showing the signal since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, equal to 13.11% of today's 405,042. Not all of them left. When I re-checked on 12 October, 6,600 of the 53,866 domains on that list by then still ran Motion on another hostname.

"The October count is the number to plan with. The slope behind it is our crawl growing as much as Motion is, and a territory plan built on that slope would be built on our coverage, not on the market." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales Signal: Size territories on the October figure and ignore the month-over-month slope. A first detection is often a domain we've only just reached, so don't trigger "just adopted" outreach from it alone.

The companies behind the domains

The matched base is small and young. 64.76% of companies with a size band have 1-10 employees and 88.25% have 50 or fewer. 45.58% were founded in the 2020s and 35.6% in the 2010s. Software Development (8.6%), IT Services (8.36%) and Technology, Information and Internet (6.49%) add up to 23.45%; Advertising (3.85%), Marketing (2.94%) and Design Services (2.05%) add another 8.84%.

The enterprise tail is 2,444 companies above 1,000 employees (1,623 + 333 + 488 across the top three size bands), and which property carries Motion matters more than the logo. Airbnb, Southwest Airlines, PepsiCo, Kraft Heinz, Bayer and Huntington Bank run it on their main sites. Nike's detection is its newsroom, the FAA's is modernskies.faa.gov and TSMC's is its ESG site. SAP, Uber and Verizon run it on careers sites that load their assets from the same careers-site provider, so those three are one vendor's build.

Sales Signal: At a large company, find the team that owns the detected property. A newsroom or ESG site usually belongs to communications and its agency, a careers site to HR and its vendor. Main-site detections, as at Airbnb or Southwest, are the closest thing on this list to a company-wide front-end choice.

Industry and geography

The United States leads with 52,759 matched companies, 21.92% of the matched base, and India is second with 26,461. Add the United Kingdom (15,173), Canada (7,128) and Australia (6,088) to the US and the four big English-speaking markets come to 81,148 companies, 33.71% of 240,728. Brazil (13,928) sits just behind the UK, and the UAE (3,708) and Nigeria (2,377) make the top fifteen. Agencies stand out too: Advertising and Marketing Services together hold 15,341 companies.

Sales Signal: For agency-facing products, filter Advertising, Marketing and Design Services. Those firms often build Motion sites for clients, so one agency relationship can reach many domains. India and Brazil are the largest markets outside the English-speaking group.

Migration patterns

Libraries don't get switched the way SaaS tools do. They disappear when a site is rebuilt. The one row we publish is anime.js: 1,355 domains that run Motion today have dropped anime.js since March, 991 of them in the last 90 days, while 142 went the other way. Those 1,355 are unrelated sites, 84.6% on Tailwind CSS and 47.1% on Next.js, with no shared platform behind them. That's what sites rebuilt on a React stack look like.

The bigger movement is with GSAP, and it isn't a clean switch. 10,428 Motion sites have dropped GSAP since March and 2,716 went the other way, about 3.8 to 1. But 25,228 domains still run both, 63% of the 40,040 ever seen with the pair, so most teams use them side by side.

"Teams rarely move from one animation library to another the way they move CRMs. They rebuild the site, and the new build happens to use Motion. I read every row here as a rebuild." - Mehmet Suleyman, CEO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales Signal: A domain that dropped anime.js or GSAP and kept Motion has probably been rebuilt in the last few months. Treat that as a timing signal for QA, performance and accessibility work, not as churn a library vendor could win back.

Technology ecosystem

Tailwind CSS runs on 76.41% of Framer Motion domains, Next.js on 43.61% and React Router on 29.82%, with Radix UI on 40.61% and shadcn/ui on 34.96%. Our direct React signal reads only 4.99%, which says more about how little modern React builds expose than about these sites, so size React from Next.js and React Router. Vercel hosts 26.6%, Amazon Web Services 7.54% and Supabase 1.61%. Icons follow the same pattern: Lucide renders on 53.61% of Motion domains. All stack shares here are of 404,987 clean live domains.

Sales Signal: For recruiters, a Motion detection outside Framer is a skills brief: React, usually through Next.js, styled with Tailwind CSS. For developer-tool vendors, Vercel is the natural integration angle, since more than a quarter of these domains deploy there.

How to use this list

Exclude Framer sites first, then filter to 11-200 employees to move past solo builders; the 11-50 (23.49%) and 51-200 (7.47%) bands hold 30.96% of matched companies with a size band. Read the detection URL last, for the reasons above.

A workable opener: "I saw [site] animates with Motion on a Next.js and Tailwind build. Teams on that stack usually care about [performance / accessibility / hiring], and here's how [product] helps."

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses Framer Motion?

Mostly small, young companies with React sites, plus agencies and Framer users. 64.76% of the 240,728 companies we matched have 1-10 employees. Larger names appear too: we confirmed the library on Airbnb's homepage, Southwest Airlines, PepsiCo, Kraft Heinz and Bayer. About one in six Framer Motion domains is a Framer-built site, where the animation code comes with the builder.

How many customers does Framer Motion have?

Framer Motion is free, so it has users rather than customers. Our October 2026 crawl finds it on 405,042 live domains, and 240,728 of those match a company record. Since we started tracking it on 16 March 2026, 53,094 domains have stopped showing it, though a 12 October re-check found 6,600 of 53,866 such domains still running it on another hostname.

What is Framer Motion's market share?

Framer Motion holds 0.45% of the JavaScript Libraries category in our crawl and ranks #32 by domain count. Treat that share with care, because the category mixes animation tools with general-purpose utilities. Among animation libraries it sits behind GSAP (2,909,817 domains) and AOS (691,190) and ahead of anime.js (292,730), LottieFiles (253,798) and Lenis (180,138).

What are the best alternatives to Framer Motion?

GSAP is the main alternative and the largest, on 2,909,817 domains in our crawl, and it's now free for all users. AOS (691,190 domains) handles simple scroll reveals, anime.js (292,730) is a lighter timeline library and LottieFiles plays designer-made vector animations. Lenis (180,138) is a smooth-scroll add-on that's more often paired with Motion than swapped for it: 41,580 domains run both.

Which countries use Framer Motion the most?

The United States leads with 52,759 matched companies, 21.92% of the 240,728 we matched. India is a clear second with 26,461, ahead of the United Kingdom (15,173), Brazil (13,928), Germany (9,421) and Canada (7,128). The United Arab Emirates (3,708) and Nigeria (2,377) both make our top fifteen, which fits a free library that spreads wherever React developers work.

What size companies use Framer Motion?

Small ones, overwhelmingly. Of 231,777 matched companies with a published size band, 64.76% have 1-10 employees and 23.49% have 11-50, so 88.25% have 50 or fewer staff. The enterprise tail is still large in absolute terms: 2,444 companies above 1,000 employees (1,623 + 333 + 488 across the top three bands), often on one site such as a newsroom or careers portal.

How old are companies that use Framer Motion?

Young. Among matched companies with a known founding year, 45.58% were founded in the 2020s and 35.6% in the 2010s, so 81.18% date from 2010 or later. Only 1.31% predate 1960. Those older firms do appear, often on a newer property: thyssenkrupp (founded 1811) runs Motion on its jobs board and Bayer (1863) on bayer.com.

What is the ideal customer profile for Framer Motion?

The ideal Framer Motion customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees (64.76%), Location: US, India, UK or Brazil, Founded: 2010 or later (81.18%), Industry: Software, IT services and agencies, Front-end Stack: Next.js + Tailwind CSS — based on our analysis of 240,728 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.

Does Framer Motion still exist?

Yes, under a new name. On 12 November 2024 Matt Perry announced that Framer Motion was going independent as Motion, with Framer as its first sponsor. The framer-motion package is still published in step with the new motion package: both reached version 14.1.0 on 9 October 2026, according to npm. Our October crawl still finds the library on 405,042 live domains.

What's the difference between Motion and Framer Motion?

They're the same library at different points in its life. Framer Motion was the React library's name while it lived inside Framer. Since November 2024 it's Motion, an independent project at motion.dev that also has vanilla JavaScript and Vue APIs. Motion's upgrade guide says moving over means installing the motion package and importing from motion/react instead of framer-motion.

Is Framer Motion free to use?

Yes. The core library is open source under the MIT licence, copyright Motion B.V., so you can use it in commercial projects without paying. Motion also sells Motion+, an optional add-on with premium examples, components and AI tooling, as a one-time Solo licence or an annual per-seat Team plan. The free library is what our crawl counts on 405,042 domains.

Which is better, Framer Motion or GSAP?

It depends on the codebase. Motion grew up as a React component library, while GSAP is a framework-agnostic timeline engine, and both are now free. GSAP is bigger in our crawl, on 2,909,817 domains, and plenty of sites use both: 25,228 do today. Since March, 10,428 Motion sites have dropped GSAP and 2,716 went the other way.

What is the difference between Framer and Framer Motion?

Framer is a no-code website builder. Framer Motion, now Motion, is the open-source animation library that Framer used to own and still uses for its site animations. That link shows in our data: 68,667 of the 405,423 domains in our raw live set, about one in six, are Framer sites that carry Motion because the builder ships it.

What is Framer Motion used for?

Developers use it to animate React interfaces: enter and exit transitions, gestures, scroll-linked effects and layout animations. Our stack data shows the usual setting. Tailwind CSS runs on 76.41% of Framer Motion domains, Next.js on 43.61% and shadcn/ui on 34.96%, so most detections are recent React marketing sites and web apps.

How does TechnologyChecker.io detect Framer Motion?

We check whether the page sets the global variable window.MotionIsMounted, which Motion's React code sets to true when an animated component mounts. A domain counts only if Motion rendered on the page we loaded. Sites that bundle the library but show no motion component there are missed, so our 405,042 is a floor rather than a full count.
