Companies Using shadcn/ui

I worked on crawling at Microsoft's Bing before we built TechnologyChecker, and shadcn/ui is one of the stranger libraries I've had to count. As of our October 2026 crawl we find its theme on 541,883 domains, and 300,215 of them match a company record, a 55.4% match rate. shadcn/ui is free and MIT-licensed, so this counts websites, not customers, and it errs in both directions.

What the signal catches, and what it misses

shadcn/ui doesn't arrive as one package. Its CLI copies component source into your project, built on Radix UI or Base UI and styled with Tailwind CSS, so the reliable trace is the theme. Our rule looks for the --destructive-foreground CSS variable that shadcn/ui's theme defined for text on destructive buttons. That variable is on its way out. shadcn/ui's Tailwind v4 colours dropped it in a March 2025 update (pull request #6903), and three of the five Tailwind v3 base colours (neutral, zinc and stone) lost it in a February 2026 commit. When I checked the live colour registry on 11 October 2026, every base colour's Tailwind v4 variables defined --destructive with no foreground pair; only the v3 slate and gray sets still carry it.

So 541,883 is a floor weighted towards older installs: projects set up before those changes, plus templates and kits that kept the token. A team that started on Tailwind v4, the default for new projects, is invisible to us unless its theme adds the variable back.

Growth trajectory

Our current crawl window shows 255,962 domains in June 2026, 333,595 in July, 401,545 in August, 506,388 in September and 541,883 in October. Counts are not a like-for-like series over time: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. The steps reflect changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we detect shadcn/ui with, rather than a surge in adoption. Meanwhile the token is ageing out, and I expect the floor to erode, though the chart doesn't show it yet.

Exits are easier to read. 48,450 domains have lost the token on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026. About one in ten of those still carry it on another hostname, so treat the figure as movement observed since March, not a lifetime churn total.

Sales Signal: Size territories on the October count and ignore the monthly slope. A new domain isn't necessarily a new build, and one that disappears may only have updated its theme, so don't trigger outreach from a single reading.

Why 35,522 WordPress sites carry a shadcn/ui token

WordPress shows up on 35,522 shadcn/ui domains, which looks wrong for a React library, so we checked. Nearly four in ten of those domains run WordPress on one hostname and the token on another, typically a marketing site with an app on a subdomain. For the rest, we loaded a random sample of same-site pages and traced which stylesheet carried the variable. The largest single source was WooCommerce payment plugins. Of the 36 pages that loaded, 14 got the token from a checkout-block stylesheet in gateways such as Authorize.Net CIM, Elavon, Moneris and GoDaddy Payments, and 6 more carried the same theme values inside combined, minified CSS. The Authorize.Net CIM file I opened declares shadcn/ui's Tailwind v3 theme variables on the page root. Five other pages got the token from embedded widgets, Cal.com and Birdeye among them.

Sales Signal: A WordPress shop with a shadcn/ui hit is usually a WooCommerce merchant whose payment plugin brought the styles along. Don't pitch it React tooling. For payment and WooCommerce services, though, that overlap is a list of stores already taking cards through those gateways.

The companies behind the domains

The matched base is small and young. 68.63% of companies with a size band have 1-10 employees and 90.75% have 50 or fewer. Of those with a founding year, 41.49% were founded in the 2020s and 37.40% in the 2010s. Above 1,000 employees there are 2,114 companies, 438 of them over 10,000, and their surfaces vary. Baylor Scott & White Health, Assurant, Greystar and RATP Group carry the token on their main sites. Ericsson has it on cradlepoint.ericsson.com, AECOM on insights.aecom.com, National Grid on its careers site and the World Food Programme on its HungerMap LIVE dashboard. Some hits come through third-party code: Robert Half's and the Post Office's arrive with embedded chat widgets from PolyAI and Talkdesk.

Sales Signal: At an enterprise, route to the team that owns the detected surface. A main-site hit points to the digital team, a careers or dashboard hit to a product team or agency, and a chat-widget hit to the widget vendor, not the company.

Industry and geography

Software Development (6.69%), IT Services and IT Consulting (6.38%) and Technology, Information and Internet (5.86%) make up 18.93% of matched companies, and the ten charted industries only 40.07%. Construction (3.02%) and Real Estate (2.71%) rank higher than you'd expect for a developer library, which fits the WooCommerce slice above and sites built by agencies. The United States leads with 92,401 matched companies; Brazil (21,456), India (21,064) and the United Kingdom (19,405) sit within 2,051 of each other behind it.

Sales Signal: Brazil and India are each slightly larger than the UK in this base. For developer tooling, React hiring or design-system services, give them the same territory weight as Britain, and test Portuguese-language outreach.

Why this profile has no migration table

Every switching corridor we tested failed our gates, so the table is hidden. The obvious candidate isn't a rival: 490,856 domains run shadcn/ui and Radix UI together today, because shadcn/ui was built on Radix from its January 2023 launch. In July 2026 shadcn/ui made Base UI its default for new projects while keeping Radix fully supported, and its changelog says projects created on shadcn/create were already picking Base UI over Radix two to one.

Bootstrap shows movement but not a switch. Of shadcn/ui sites, 19,615 have dropped Bootstrap since March while 25,516 still load both. That looks like rebuilt sites shedding an old stylesheet, not teams trading one library for another.

Sales Signal: The live event is the Base UI default. Teams on older shadcn/ui installs, which is exactly who this count captures, face the Radix-or-Base-UI choice the next time they regenerate components. That gives component testing, accessibility auditing and front-end contract work a dated reason to call.

Reading the stack

Lucide appears on 79.40% of these domains, and lucide-react sits in the dependency list of shadcn/ui's own Tailwind v4 upgrade guide. Next.js (26.16%) and React Router (35.44%) are better floors for the React share than our direct React signal (4.28%), which modern React builds rarely trigger. Framer Motion runs on 25.87% and Vercel hosts 18.96%. jQuery (11.13%) marks the WordPress and older-site slice. These percentages are of the 547,318 domains in the clean live set, not the headline.

Sales Signal: For recruiters, a shadcn/ui hit with Next.js or React Router is a concrete skills brief: React, Tailwind CSS and Lucide conventions. For developer-tool vendors, Vercel is the natural integration angle. Teams on Material UI are a different audience: they upgrade a library, while shadcn/ui teams own and edit the component code.

How to use this list

Filter shadcn/ui with Next.js or React Router to isolate React builds, exclude WordPress to drop the plugin slice, then add 11-200 employees to move past solo builders; the 11-50 and 51-200 bands hold 28.11% of matched companies. Read the detection URL last.

A workable opener: "I saw [surface] is built with shadcn/ui on [framework]. shadcn/ui switched new projects to Base UI in July 2026 and still supports Radix. If you're weighing that change, here's how [product] helps either way."
