Companies Using Microsoft Dynamics 365

Our database tracks 12,976 domains carrying detectable Dynamics 365 components, at organisations including Siemens, Microsoft, Ford and UBS. Below you'll find a full list of companies using Microsoft Dynamics 365 with market share, industry breakdowns and geographic data.

Dynamics 365 holds 1.92% of the CRM category, ranking #5, based on our analysis of 11,062 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io. Two figures define it. Only 14.23% of its domains belong to companies with 1-10 employees — the most enterprise-weighted profile in this batch — and just 78 domains have dropped it since March 2026 — a figure driven by our detection method, a d365mktkey DNS TXT record that is never removed, rather than by customer loyalty. Higher Education (4.62%) appearing second among its industries is a distinctive Microsoft licensing pattern.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Usage Statistics

How has Dynamics 365 adoption changed? Our current crawl covers June to August 2026: 11,016 active domains, then 12,976, then 12,976. The churn figure needs a caveat rather than a headline. Only 78 domains have dropped Dynamics 365 since March 2026 (0.66%), and we previously published that as the lowest attrition we measure on any profile. It is really a property of the instrument: Dynamics 365 is detected by a d365mktkey DNS TXT record, which has no functional role once set and is essentially never removed. Profiles detected by JavaScript run 9% to 24% churn over the same window. Read 0.66% as "nobody cleans up DNS", not as customer loyalty.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Market Share Among CRM

What is Microsoft Dynamics 365's market share? Dynamics 365 holds 1.92% of the CRM category on 12,976 domains, ranking #5. As with Salesforce, domain count measures only what escapes the login screen — embedded portals and forms — and badly understates an enterprise suite sold per seat.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customers by Company Size & Age

Is Microsoft Dynamics 365 only for large enterprises? Mostly, yes. 51-200 employees is the single largest band at 24.86% and 61.9% of Dynamics 365 customers have 51 or more staff, from our analysis of 10,901 enriched companies. Only 14.09% are micro-businesses, roughly a quarter of the micro share we see on self-serve marketing tools. At the top end, 16.43% employ more than 1,000 people, including Siemens, Ford and Cargill.

What Industries Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 the Most?

IT Services and IT Consulting is the dominant industry at 12.26%, and adding LinkedIn's older "Information Technology & Services" label for the same sector takes it to 14.77%. That's the Microsoft partner channel showing up in the data: implementation partners run Dynamics on their own domains. Higher Education follows at 4.65%, then Financial Services (4.06%), and no other vertical clears 3.5%, based on our enriched company data at TechnologyChecker.io.

Financial Services429 (4.03%)
Software Development359 (3.37%)
Non-profit Organizations326 (3.06%)
Construction301 (2.83%)

IT consulting firms using Microsoft Dynamics 365 form the largest vertical at 12.26%, which reflects distribution rather than demand: Microsoft said in 2019 that 95% of its commercial revenue flows through partners, and those partners deploy the product on themselves first. Universities using Microsoft Dynamics 365 are the real surprise at 4.65%, with Penn State, Arizona State, NYU and the University of Michigan all detected. Insurers and banks on Microsoft Dynamics 365 like Zurich, UBS, Generali and Rabobank push the financial cluster past 6%.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Alternatives & Competitors

Dynamics 365 sits fourth in our CRM category, but its rivals here are not all the ones Microsoft competes with commercially, based on our market share data across 29.9M active domains. Zoho (66.88%) dominates by count through mass-market small business adoption. Salesforce (11.15%) is the real peer, and it's the only competitor that shows up in our migration flows in either direction. vcita (2.8%) ranks above Dynamics 365 while serving a completely different buyer, which shows how much a web-footprint ranking can diverge from enterprise reality.

Tech Stack of Microsoft Dynamics 365-Powered Websites

Based on 10,901 enriched companies, Dynamics 365 domains pair the product with Google Tag Manager (76.82%) and Google Analytics (67.25%) as a baseline. The revealing layer is consent: Cookie Control (14.36%), Cookiebot (13.66%) and Usercentrics (5.2%) are all European vendors, and TYPO3 (4.08%), a CMS with well under 1% global share, appears at roughly twenty times its expected rate. Drupal adds another 8.4% across its two variants, the usual signature of universities and government. ClickDimensions, a marketing add-on built specifically for Dynamics, sits on 112 domains and confirms these are genuine Dynamics marketing deployments.

Expert Analysis: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Mehmet Suleyman
Mehmet SuleymanCEO & Co-founder, TechnologyChecker

I've spent more than a decade building web crawlers and working with technographic data. This analysis covers 12,976 domains running Microsoft Dynamics 365 as of our July 2026 crawl, of which we matched 10,901 to company records. That 84.5% enrichment rate is more than double what we normally achieve, and it's the first clue about what this dataset is.

What we actually detect

Most technologies reach us through a script tag. Dynamics 365 reaches us through DNS: the domain publishes a d365mktkey TXT record, which Microsoft requires to authenticate a sending domain for Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, previously called Dynamics 365 Marketing. Two things follow. The signal is deterministic, and our numbers show it: active domains average 3.30 detections across 3.30 scans, a perfect hit rate, where a consent-gated ad pixel we studied recently managed 1.23 detections per 2.67 scans. And DNS records sit on apex corporate domains, which is why 57 of our top 60 detections are bare company domains. So this is not the full Dynamics 365 licence base, which is far larger. It's the subset running the marketing module on an authenticated domain.

"A 3.30 out of 3.30 detection rate told me this wasn't a pixel before I ever looked at the ruleset. Deterministic signals produce boring, beautiful data." - Mehmet Suleyman, Founder at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales Signal: Every domain in this list has completed a DNS change to send marketing email through Dynamics. That's a committed, budgeted deployment, not a trial. Treat the list as qualified rather than speculative, and expect a marketing operations owner rather than a general IT contact.

Customer profile

This is an enterprise and upper mid-market base. 51-200 employees is the largest band at 24.86%, 61.9% employ more than 50 people, and 16.43% exceed a thousand. Micro-businesses are only 14.09%. The age data is more striking: Pre-1960 is the biggest cohort at 21.06% and roughly 57% were founded before 2000, though Pre-1960 is an open-ended bucket spanning a century. Legal structure sharpens it: 20.71% are public companies and 21.2% are nonprofits, educational institutions or government agencies. Microsoft's published case studies overlap our detections in places, including Siemens and Zurich, though both of those stories describe different modules than the one we detect. Siemens also shows departmental deployment: our hit is on its mobility division domain.

Sales Signal: These buyers already run Microsoft licensing and have procurement cycles measured in quarters. The 21.2% public sector slice needs framework agreements and accessibility compliance, so lead with references from the same sector rather than with feature comparisons.

Industry and geographic concentration

IT Services and IT Consulting leads at 12.26%, or 14.77% once you fold in LinkedIn's older label for the same sector. That's the partner channel, not end demand. Microsoft stated in 2019 that 95% of its commercial revenue flows through its partner ecosystem, and implementation partners deploy Dynamics on their own sites first. Strip them out and Higher Education at 4.65% becomes the leading genuine vertical, with Penn State, Arizona State, NYU, Indiana and the University of Michigan all present.

Geography departs hardest from our usual pattern. The United States is just 21.81%. The United Kingdom (9.52%) and Germany (9.11%) are effectively tied, Europe totals close to 49.5%, and the Nordics contribute 9.39% from about 28 million people. London is the top city, with Stockholm and Oslo both ahead of New York. The reason is historical: Microsoft acquired the Danish vendor Navision in 2002 and rebranded it Dynamics NAV in 2005, seeding a partner network across the Nordics and DACH that still shapes the base.

Sales Signal: If you sell Dynamics services, the underserved geography is not Europe, it's everywhere else. Filter for the 21.81% US base and Australia's 6.94%, where partner density is thinner relative to install base. For European targets, expect an incumbent partner already in place and sell displacement rather than greenfield.

Migration patterns

Movement is small and one-directional. Since March 2026, 12 domains dropped Salesforce while keeping Dynamics 365, against one the other way, with 6 of the 12 in the last thirty days. Single domains arrived from Bitrix24 and Zoho. Seventeen events is not a trend and I won't dress it up as one. The more useful figure is the churn floor: only 46 domains dropped the signal entirely, about 0.36%. Discount even that, because DNS records routinely outlive the products that required them. We covered the general pattern in why SaaS companies switch CRMs.

"Twelve companies left Salesforce for Dynamics and one went back. That's a signal worth watching, not a headline worth printing." - Mehmet Suleyman, Founder at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales Signal: The 6 domains that dropped Salesforce in the last month are the highest-intent accounts on this page, because they're mid-migration and buying services now. On the retention side, a 0.36% churn floor means displacement campaigns against Dynamics incumbents will be slow and expensive.

Technology ecosystem

Google Tag Manager at 76.82% and Google Analytics at 67.25% are the baseline. The interesting layers sit below. Consent management is heavy and distinctly European: Cookiebot 13.66%, Cookie Control 14.36%, Usercentrics 5.2% and Cookie Information 1.52%, which are Danish, British, German and Danish. On the CMS side Drupal reaches 8.4% across both variants and TYPO3 hits 4.08%, roughly twenty times its global share and almost entirely German-speaking. ERP co-occurrence is nearly nil, ServiceNow at 2.12% and Infor at 0.24%, exactly what you'd expect when the signal only sees the marketing module. HubSpot appears on 8.65% and WordPress on 40.43%.

Sales Signal: That 8.65% HubSpot overlap is the clearest upsell and consolidation target on the page: those organisations are paying for two marketing stacks. The 40.43% on WordPress are candidates for integration work, since WordPress and Dynamics forms rarely share data cleanly without help.

Third-party review signals

We couldn't collect structured G2 review text for this profile, so treat this as cited rather than measured. Public ratings diverge informatively: G2 shows Dynamics 365 Sales at 3.8 out of 5 across 1,622 reviews, while Gartner Peer Insights rates Dynamics 365 Customer Service 4.5 from 671 ratings and Customer Insights 4.2 from 328. Gartner's panel skews to verified enterprise buyers, G2's to mid-market, so the gap fits a product that rewards implementation investment. One detail corroborates us: G2 reports 39.4% of its Dynamics 365 Sales reviews come from mid-market firms, and our size data puts 37.64% of detected companies in the 51-500 range.

Sales Signal: The enterprise-versus-mid-market ratings gap tells you where deals go wrong. Mid-market buyers who expect self-serve setup are the churn risk, so implementation scoping is the thing to sell alongside licences.

Key takeaways

1. The 1.97% share and #4 rank understate the product. We measure a DNS record only marketing-module users create, so this is a floor, not a measure.
2. The base is old, large and institutional. 61.9% above 50 staff, 57% founded before 2000, 21.2% public or social sector.
3. Europe is the centre of gravity at roughly 49.5% against 21.81% for the US, traceable to the 2002 Navision deal.
4. Five independent signals agree on that geography: country, city, consent vendor, CMS and legal entity type.
5. The moat is switching cost, with a 0.36% churn floor and a 12:1 inbound ratio against Salesforce.
6. The vulnerability is the partner channel: 14.77% of the base is IT consultancies, so our footprint partly measures Microsoft's resellers.

Sales applications

Outreach angle: reference the overlap. "I see you're running both Dynamics 365 marketing and HubSpot" opens a consolidation conversation with the 8.65% carrying both, and it's verifiable from public DNS.

Targeting strategy: on TechnologyChecker.io, filter to Germany, the Nordics and the Netherlands, then to 51-500 employees, where partner ecosystems are densest and reference selling works. Invert the geography filter for under-served US and Australian accounts.

Competitive angle: the 6 domains that dropped Salesforce in the last thirty days are actively re-platforming, so they're open to implementation and data-migration vendors now.

All of this comes from our own crawl rather than a vendor feed: 12,976 detected domains and 10,901 enriched companies, across monthly coverage of 29.9M active domains at TechnologyChecker.io. Compare it against our Salesforce market share analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses Microsoft Dynamics 365?

We detect Microsoft Dynamics 365 on 12,976 domains, including Siemens AG, Microsoft, Ford. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is IT Services and IT Consulting (12.24%).

How many customers does Microsoft Dynamics 365 have?

We detect 12,976 domains running Microsoft Dynamics 365 across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 11,062 of them (85.2%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 78 domains carried a Microsoft Dynamics 365 detection previously and no longer do.

What is Microsoft Dynamics 365's market share?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 holds 1.92% of the CRM category, ranking #5. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.

What are the best alternatives to Microsoft Dynamics 365?

The top alternatives to Microsoft Dynamics 365 include Zoho (65.12% market share), Salesforce (10.86% market share), vcita (2.69% market share), Bitrix24 (2.33% market share) — measured as a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category.

Which countries use Microsoft Dynamics 365 the most?

The United States leads at 21.81% of enriched companies, which is low by our usual standards, followed by the United Kingdom (9.52%) and Germany (9.11%). Australia, the Netherlands and Switzerland follow. European countries make up close to half the base, and London is the top city ahead of Stockholm, Sydney and Oslo.

What size companies use Microsoft Dynamics 365?

The most common company size is 1-10 employees, representing 14.23% of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 domains we could match to a company record and size — a subset of 11,062 matched companies, not of all 12,976 detected domains. This is followed by 11-50 employees (24.06%) and 51-200 employees (24.76%).

How old are companies that use Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Among the Microsoft Dynamics 365 domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the Pre-1960 (21.02%), followed by the 2000s (18.69%). That matched subset is drawn from 11,062 companies and is not representative of all 12,976 detected domains. This suggests Microsoft Dynamics 365 is most popular among established companies.

What is the ideal customer profile for Microsoft Dynamics 365?

The ideal Microsoft Dynamics 365 customer is: Company Size: 51-200 employees, Location: US, UK, or Germany, City: London, Stockholm, Sydney, Founded: Before 1960, Company Age: 65+ years old — based on our analysis of 11,062 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.

Is Dynamics 365 a CRM or an ERP?

Both. Dynamics 365 is a family of applications: Sales, Customer Service and Customer Insights cover CRM, while Finance, Supply Chain and Business Central cover ERP. We file it under CRM because the signal we detect belongs to its customer engagement side. Our stack data supports that split, since ERP tools barely co-occur at all.

Is Microsoft Dynamics 365 being discontinued?

No. Microsoft is retiring the older Dynamics lines, not Dynamics 365 itself. Microsoft announced that Dynamics GP support ends on 31 December 2029, and the legacy AX, NAV and C5 products are also winding down, with Dynamics 365 as their upgrade path. We still detect it on 12,976 domains as of July 2026.

How much does Microsoft Dynamics 365 cost?

Microsoft's published pricing puts Dynamics 365 Sales Professional at $65 per user per month and Sales Enterprise at $105, billed annually, with Sales Premium from $150 and a Team Member licence at $8. ERP modules such as Finance are priced separately. Most organisations buy through an implementation partner, so real cost includes setup.

Is Microsoft Dynamics 365 free?

No. Dynamics 365 has no permanent free tier, though Microsoft offers time-limited trials of individual apps. The cheapest entry point is the $8 Team Member licence, which only grants light read and update rights. Rivals differ here: HubSpot and Zoho both run free CRM tiers, which partly explains their much larger domain counts in our index.

Is Microsoft Dynamics included in Microsoft 365?

No, they are separate products with separate licences. Microsoft 365 covers productivity software like Word, Excel, Teams and Exchange. Dynamics 365 covers business applications for sales, service, finance and operations. The two integrate closely, especially with Teams and Outlook, but a Microsoft 365 subscription grants no Dynamics 365 access. Licensing and billing are handled separately as well.

What companies use Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Our crawl finds Siemens, Ford, UBS, Pfizer, Cargill, Standard Chartered, Rolls-Royce, Zurich, Rabobank and the United Nations among 12,976 detected domains. The base leans toward large, long-established organisations: 61.9% employ more than 50 people, and eleven universities appear in our top 50 alone, including Penn State and NYU. Nearly all detections sit on the company's main corporate domain.

Is Microsoft Dynamics 365 still used in 2026?

Yes, and our churn data is unusually quiet. Of the domains we've tracked since March 2026, only 78 dropped the signal against 12,976 still active, about 0.66%. That is a property of the instrument, not the product: our marker is a d365mktkey DNS TXT record, which has no function once set and is essentially never removed, so it badly understates real product churn. Profiles detected by JavaScript run 9% to 24% over the same window to some degree.

Is Microsoft Dynamics 365 better than Salesforce?

Our data can't judge product quality, but it does show direction of travel. Since March 2026 we watched 12 domains drop Salesforce while keeping Dynamics 365, and only 1 move the other way. Salesforce still holds a much larger web footprint at 11.15% of our CRM category against Dynamics 365's 1.97%.

Why is Microsoft Dynamics 365 so popular in Europe?

Product history explains much of it. Microsoft bought Navision, a Danish company, in 2002 and rebranded it Dynamics NAV in 2005, the ancestor of today's Business Central. That left deep partner networks across the Nordics and German-speaking markets. Our data matches: the Nordics contribute 9.39% and Germany 9.11% of enriched companies.

Do universities and nonprofits use Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Heavily. Higher Education is our second largest vertical at 4.65% and nonprofits add 3.08%. Sorting by legal entity type makes it clearer: 11.6% of Dynamics 365 companies are nonprofits, 7.07% educational and 2.55% government agencies, so the public and social sector is 21.2% of the base. Microsoft's discounted nonprofit and academic licensing is the likely driver.

What does a Dynamics 365 detection actually mean?

It means the domain publishes a d365mktkey TXT record in DNS. Microsoft requires that record to authenticate a sending domain for Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, formerly Dynamics 365 Marketing. So our 12,976 domains are organisations running the marketing side of Dynamics, not the full licence base, which is considerably larger.

What is the difference between Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365?

Microsoft 365 is the productivity bundle: Office apps, Teams, Exchange and Windows licensing. Dynamics 365 is the business applications bundle covering CRM and ERP work such as sales pipelines, case management, finance and supply chain. The similar naming causes real confusion, but they are bought separately and priced separately. Our index tracks the two as distinct technologies.
