Companies Using Weebly

I analysed Weebly against our September 2026 crawl, and the first job was deciding what "Weebly" means. Our rule looks for Weebly's own files in a page: the _W.configDomain setting and scripts from Weebly's editmysite.com CDN. Square Online stores load the same files, because Square built Square Online on Weebly's technology after buying the company in 2018. So the raw detection, 131,183 domains, is two products. This page counts one of them, 98,301 classic Weebly sites, and we match 81,664 live sites to a named company. Separating two products that share a codebase

We checked the split directly. 32,691 of 32,698 live Square Online stores (99.98%) also fire the Weebly rule, which is why we subtract them rather than guess. Then we loaded pages. Of 60 random sites left on the Weebly side, 56 were classic Weebly sites with the "Powered by Weebly" footer, 2 were dead weebly.com addresses, 1 was blank and 1 was a classic site linking out to a Square Online store. None was a store in disguise. Of 30 random sites from the overlap, 28 were Square Online and 2 returned 404s.

Sales signal: if you sell to Weebly site owners, use this list. If you sell to Square merchants who run a web store, use the Square Online list. The two audiences behave differently, as the sections below show.

Is Weebly shrinking?

Slowly, and our monthly line can't show it on its own. Classic Weebly reads 85,569 sites in June 2026 and 98,301 in September, but that rise is our coverage, not new sign-ups: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, our detection widens over time, and 17,670 of the Weebly domains we detect were first seen in September. The churn is the better measure. 5,054 classic sites dropped Weebly since we began tracking in March 2026, about 5% of today's count.

Then there is the vendor's own news. In June 2026 Weebly said it would wind down in 67 countries: new pages can't be published after 29 June, sites are unpublished on 27 September 2026 and logins end on 26 December. The list runs from Taiwan and Singapore to Turkey, Colombia and Nigeria. None of the 20 largest countries in our company data is on it. In its main markets Weebly's help center says there are no plans to discontinue the builder, while steering new sites to Square Online.

Sales signal: this is a mature, slowly draining base. Every Weebly owner is a prospect for a migration, a redesign or a new builder, and the 67-country list is a ready-made segment of owners who have to move this year.

Who still builds on Weebly

82.34% of matched companies with a known size employ 1 to 10 people and 14.82% employ 11 to 50. The founding years are the telling part: 48.2% date from the 2010s and only 8.18% from the 2020s. On Square Online, built on the same technology, the 2020s share is 36.1%. New businesses start on Square Online; the Weebly base is the businesses that built a site years ago and kept it.

The 109 companies with more than 1,000 employees fall into two groups. Some run their whole corporate site on Weebly: Peraton Labs, Sarnova, Datacentrix and Digital Room all load Weebly's files on their main domain. Others use it for one job. Fastenal's Blue Print magazine, NCH's Latin America site, MFA Oil's charity golf site and a sheriff's office careers site are all Weebly microsites inside larger organisations.

Sales signal: for the enterprise names, find out who owns the microsite before you pitch. It is usually a department, not the web team.

Industry and geography

No industry reaches 6%. Medical Practices lead at 5.38% and Construction follows at 5.02%. Two clusters are worth more than any single row: healthcare adds up to 7.31% with hospitals included, and churches, charities and family services reach 9.85% together. By country the base is American: 51,107 matched companies in the United States, then the United Kingdom (7,156), Canada (4,600) and Australia (3,859).

Sales signal: filter on country and size first. Industry works only when you combine rows into clusters such as health or community organisations.

Where leavers go

Three builders pass our switching tests. 281 classic sites moved to Wix, 233 to Squarespace and 58 to Duda. The base rates are what make these real: Wix runs on 281 of the 5,054 leavers but on only 60 of the 115,818 live Weebly sites, and Squarespace on 233 against 53. Each flow runs at least three times more often out of Weebly than into it. A site runs one builder at a time, so a row here means the site was rebuilt.

What we left out matters as much. 714 leavers show WordPress, but 45.7% of sites that ever ran both still do, which looks like a blog or a second site beside Weebly rather than a switch. 90 went to Shopify and 57 to GoDaddy Website Builder, but sites move about as often in the other direction. Square Online stores that left were removed before any of this was counted.

Sales signal: Wix and Squarespace are winning the rebuilds. If you sell migration services, those are the destinations your prospects are already choosing.

The stack around a Weebly site

Weebly's template loads its own furniture on every site, jQuery, reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare among it, so we drop rows above 80%. What is left is thin. Google Workspace appears on 30.16% and Microsoft 365 on 12.49%, so at least 57% of sites run neither suite on their domain. (Across the wider web the two suites split differently; our Google vs Microsoft analysis has the full picture.) Google Tag Manager is on 26.66% and the Facebook Pixel on only 5.59%. GoDaddy runs DNS for 23.4% of sites, the usual trace of a domain bought at GoDaddy and pointed at Weebly.

Sales signal: business email and basic ad tracking are open for most of this base. A Weebly owner without Workspace or 365 is a cleaner prospect than one who already has both.

What G2 reviewers say

G2 no longer keeps a separate listing for classic Weebly. Its reviews sit under "Square Online (formerly Weebly)", rated 4.2 out of 5 from 482 reviews on 27 September 2026, and the AI summary on that page describes Square Online. I would not read it as feedback on the classic builder. Our churn numbers are the more direct signal here: 5,054 leavers in six months, with Wix and Squarespace taking the most of the moves we can verify.
