Companies Using AngularJS

I've watched AngularJS on this page fall from 158,783 domains to 82,804 in our October 2026 crawl, and I wanted to know whether what's left is real. Mostly, it is. A domain counts when a page exposes AngularJS's global object, usually with its version, or loads a script whose file name starts with angular. Of the 84,169 live domains we rescanned in the last 80 days, 91.09% report a 1.x version. I also opened 149 random live domains in a headless browser. Among the 122 detected since August, 90 ran AngularJS when the page loaded; two ran Angular 2 or later, four matched only on a file name, five were gambling pages and most of the rest blocked or timed out.

What we took out

The other 27 in that sample hadn't been rescanned since July, and 18 of them no longer resolve in DNS. That cohort is big, so we removed it: 17,157 domains we hadn't rescanned in 80 days. A domain that can't be fetched doesn't flip to inactive, which is how they stayed in the count. Many also carried an old Wix detection; of 40 of those I tried, none ran AngularJS and 33 had no DNS record. We also removed 670 gambling lobbies with Thai, Filipino and Chinese betting titles, on top of the 743 for-sale and gambling pages our title filter caught first. Our category table keeps the published 102,729.

Sales signal: if you exported an AngularJS list before October 2026, drop domains last seen before August and recheck DNS. You'll lose about a sixth of the rows and almost no real sites.

Who ships it

I loaded the detected page for 90 of the largest companies and 64 ran AngularJS 1.x. 30 of those 64 were a vendor's platform. Ten were ServiceNow portals, from Wendy's customer care to Meijer's help centre and Amadeus' service portal, all reporting 1.5.26; ServiceNow's own developer blog explains that every Service Portal widget is an AngularJS directive. Thirteen were careers sites built with SmashFly's xcloud WordPress plugin, including The Home Depot, Travelers, Edward Jones and Northwell Health, all on 1.8.3. Seven were Khoros communities (Samsung, BT, Sky, SAS, Asus, Autodesk and Databricks), all reporting 1.9.1, a version the open-source project never released. At the small end, the Site.pro website builder ships AngularJS 1.8.2 with its version string changed to 17.0.9 on 1,377 domains, and 1.3.15, the version stores.jp ships, is on 3,554.

Sales signal: if you sell migration work, the platform rows are the wrong door. A Wendy's support page changes when ServiceNow changes it. The in-house builds are the accounts with a decision to make: Walgreens Photo's own 1.8.3 build, Carnival's site, United's Jetstream portal, Paytm's seller dashboard, the FAA's airport data portal.

The companies behind it

Across 43,003 matched companies, 54.41% have 1 to 10 employees and 23.11% have 11 to 50. 1,629 have more than 1,000 staff. The base is old for a web technology. The 2010s are the biggest founding decade (35.11%), but only 8.27% were founded this decade and 25.92% before 1990. Retail leads industries with only 4.45% and the top ten add up to 32.4%. The United States has 13,411 matched companies, then Germany (2,790), the United Kingdom (2,088) and Brazil (2,037).

Sales signal: the small-business majority mostly runs old agency-built sites and builders. They won't fund a rewrite; a cheap rebuild or a hosted builder is the pitch there.

The chart and the migration table

The usage chart has one point, October 2026, because earlier monthly totals still held the domains removed above. Those totals also moved for reasons on our side: the domains we crawl turn over every month, dead sites out and new ones in, and our detection signals change. Since tracking began in March 2026, 228,823 domains have dropped AngularJS on at least one hostname, and 162,912 of those drops landed between 12 and 27 July, with jQuery leaving the same domains. Only 1,393 of the droppers still run AngularJS on another hostname. There is no migration table. The AngularJS-to-React row came from those July drops, and the React-to-AngularJS row from two short windows in August and September when our React detection dropped across the web: 964 of the 1,582 React drops we can see on today's AngularJS domains (61%) fell inside them.

Sales signal: the honest migration signal is coexistence. 4,187 AngularJS domains also run Angular, 4,420 Vue.js and 3,790 React today. Those are companies mid-rebuild, and they are the warmest list here.

What runs next to it

On the 82,800 clean live domains, jQuery is on 90.85%, Underscore.js on 37.49%, Lodash on 36.33% and Moment.js on 35.16%, a front end from the mid-2010s. Microsoft ASP.NET runs on 23.68% and Ruby on Rails on 7.49%, the usual back ends of in-house business apps, and SharePoint appears on 1.04%.

Sales signal: AngularJS plus ASP.NET is the best single filter for an internal-tool rewrite: a business app with a .NET back end and a front end nobody patches.

The support market

AngularJS is free under the MIT licence; long-term support ended on 31 December 2021 and 1.8.3 is the last open-source release. Paid support fills the gap. HeroDevs and OpenLogic sell support contracts, OpenLogic says through 2030, and XLTS.dev shipped builds 1.9.12 and 1.5.29 in June 2026. On the 84,169 rescanned domains, 2,075 report a 1.9 build, 391 a 1.5 build later than 1.5.11 and 218 a 1.8 build later than 1.8.3. Branches 1.0 to 1.4 are still the largest group, 25.31%.

Sales signal: a site on 1.9.x, or on a 1.5 build past 1.5.11, runs a maintained build, bought or patched in-house. A site on 1.4 with jQuery and no patched build is the most exposed.

Competitive angle: domains running AngularJS and Angular together are mid-migration and buying help now; domains on 1.9.x builds have chosen support over migration, so pitch them on cost.
