Companies Using WPForms
Our September 2026 crawl finds a WPForms form on 265,024 websites, and 173,221 of them match a company record. Below is the list of companies that use WPForms, from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of California and UT Austin's giving site to the small builders, consultancies and agencies that make up most of the base, with size, industry, country and the rest of each site's stack.
The count covers the free WPForms Lite and paid Pro together, because both load the same front-end script. WPForms ranks 3rd of 64 in Form Builders with 7.3%, just behind Gravity Forms. It's a floor on installs: the plugin loads where a form renders, and we read the page we crawl, usually the homepage.

WPForms Usage Statistics
Our current crawl window reads 227,432 domains in June 2026, 254,673 in July, 255,238 in August and 265,024 in September. The June to July step reflects changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we read: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added. 25,013 of today's live WPForms domains were first seen in August or September, more than the 10,351 the line gained over those two months, so the recent rise is coverage as well. Quote September, and don't read the line as growth.

Which Countries Use WPForms the Most?
Which countries use WPForms the most? The United States, with 35,343 matched companies, then India with 13,966, the United Kingdom (11,198), Brazil (9,255) and Germany (8,137). The top 15 countries hold 123,194 companies, so the US is well under a third of them. That is a far more international base than Gravity Forms, which has 112,253 American companies and 1,237 in India. France (6,898), Spain (6,806) and Italy (5,189) are also bigger WPForms markets than Gravity Forms ones.
Share of the 173,221 WPForms domains we matched to a company record — 65.4% of the 265,024 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
WPForms Market Share Among Form Builders
What is WPForms' market share? WPForms holds 7.3% of Form Builders and ranks 3rd of 64, based on our crawl of live business domains at TechnologyChecker.io. Gravity Forms is 2nd with 7.65%, 12,721 domains ahead, so the two paid-plugin leaders are within 5% of each other. Contact Form 7 leads the category with 80.8% and 2,932,123 domains, about eleven times WPForms. It is free, and many themes recommend or bundle it, so on the sites we crawl WPForms is not the most common WordPress form plugin.
Top Competitors by Market Share
WPForms Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use WPForms? Mostly very small ones. 65.03% of matched companies with a known size employ 1 to 10 people and 23.77% employ 11 to 50, so 88.8% have 50 staff or fewer. There are still 984 companies above 1,000 employees. At those, the detection is usually one site: GXO's ethics.gxo.com, Timken's contact.timken.com or UT Austin's giving.utexas.edu.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
WPForms customers are young businesses. The largest group was founded in the 2010s (38.84%) and the next in the 2020s (27.17%), so two in three started in 2010 or later. Only 17.73% predate 2000, about half the Gravity Forms share of 34.89%. That fits a plugin launched in 2016 with a free version a new site can install at no cost.
What Industries Use WPForms the Most?
No industry reaches 5%. Construction leads at 4.96%, then IT Services and IT Consulting (4.58%), Business Consulting and Services (4.32%), Advertising Services (3.57%) and Real Estate (2.62%), based on our enriched company data. Compared with Gravity Forms, where medical and law practices sit near the top, the WPForms mix leans toward consultancies, agencies and IT firms.
IT and consulting firms using WPForms add up to 8.9% across IT Services (4.58%) and Business Consulting (4.32%), among them Innova Solutions and Pinnacle Infotech. Universities on WPForms are a visible group in the named list, including UT Austin, the University of São Paulo's Jornal da USP and Universidad Industrial de Santander in Colombia. Government appears too: the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of California runs it on ltg.ca.gov.
WPForms Alternatives & Competitors
The rival WPForms Lite is weighed against most often is Contact Form 7: free as well, and eleven times larger in our crawl. On the paid side the match is Gravity Forms, the same size as WPForms but with a very different customer base. Ninja Forms (43,650 domains) and Quform (14,984) are smaller plugins. Jotform and 123FormBuilder embed hosted forms and work on any site, and Formidable Forms, another WordPress plugin, is filed under Surveys & Feedback with 93,816 domains per its profile.

WPForms Customer Migration
Since we began tracking in March 2026, one exit passes our tests. 65 domains dropped WPForms and now post their forms to Web3Forms, a hosted form endpoint: 49 of them in the last 90 days and 20 in the last 30, which is the table's default view. No domain went the other way. Most are site rebuilds, not plugin swaps: only 9 of the 65 still run WordPress, while 22 now sit behind Cloudflare and 11 use Tailwind CSS. More sites dropped WPForms and show Gravity Forms (197) or Contact Form 7 (3,704), but most domains that ever ran both still do, so we don't count them as switches.

Tech Stack of WPForms-Powered Websites
We measured the stack across the 266,152 domains our live crawl currently answers for WPForms, a slightly wider set than the September headline, which is why WordPress (265,807, 99.87%) can exceed it. Elementor is on 70.23%, against 19.8% for Gravity Forms. Part of that gap is how the plugin loads: on some Elementor sites WPForms adds an integration script to pages without a form, and we count it. Hostinger hosts 17.16%, more than twice its 8.18% share of all WordPress domains we crawl. WhatsApp chat buttons on 11.15% point to the base's many markets outside the US.

Expert Analysis: WPForms Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I analysed WPForms against our September 2026 crawl. We detect it from its front-end script and its wpforms and wpforms_settings globals, which the free WPForms Lite and the paid Pro share, so the two can't be told apart from outside. WPForms loads that script where a form renders, which makes 265,024 websites a count of sites with a WPForms form on the page we crawl, usually the homepage, and a floor on installs. WordPress.org lists 5+ million active installations of WPForms Lite alone. Our guide to technology detection methods explains how script and markup detection works.
How clean the count is
We opened 30 random WPForms hosts in a browser. Seven timed out or looped on redirects. Of the 23 that loaded, 21 rendered a WPForms form, all on ordinary small-business sites. One wrinkle: on some Elementor sites WPForms adds a small integration script to pages without a form, and our rule counts it, so a minority of rows mark an active plugin rather than a visible form. Grouping 3,000 random hosts by IP address found no cloned template, and no LinkedIn company holds more than 25 domains.
Sales signal: each row is a live WordPress site with WPForms switched on. For the tightest list, keep the rows where a form is visible on the homepage.
Growth trajectory
The chart runs from 227,432 domains in June 2026 to 265,024 in September. That isn't adoption. The June to July step reflects changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we read, and the set of domains we crawl turns over every month. 25,013 live domains were first seen in August or September, more than the 10,351 the line gained in those months. 37,623 domains dropped WPForms since we began tracking in March 2026, against 25,137 for Gravity Forms on a slightly larger base. The detection doesn't flicker much on either, so the gap more likely reflects smaller, newer sites that close or rebuild more often.
"WPForms and Gravity Forms are within 5% of each other in our crawl and share only 547 sites. They are two plugins serving two different kinds of WordPress owner." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: quote September as the base. Expect more turnover here than on premium-plugin lists, so refresh any WPForms prospect list more often.
Customer profile
65.03% of matched companies with a known size employ 1 to 10 people and 23.77% employ 11 to 50. The founding years are recent: 38.84% in the 2010s and 27.17% in the 2020s, against 11.58% for Gravity Forms. 984 companies have more than 1,000 employees, and there the detection is one site, often a side project rather than the main website: ethics.gxo.com for GXO, contact.timken.com for Timken, giving.utexas.edu for UT Austin, ltg.ca.gov for California's Lieutenant Governor.
Sales signal: the typical buyer is the owner, building or maintaining the site themselves. Sell things that plug into a form in minutes, with a free tier that matches how they started with WPForms.
Industry and geography
No industry passes 5%. Construction leads at 4.96%, then IT services (4.58%), business consulting (4.32%) and advertising (3.57%). Geography is where WPForms differs most. The US has 35,343 matched companies and India 13,966, followed by the UK (11,198), Brazil (9,255), Germany (8,137), France (6,898) and Spain (6,806). The top 15 countries hold 123,194 companies, and the US is well under a third of them. Gravity Forms, measured the same way, has 112,253 American companies and 1,237 in India.
Sales signal: plan for several languages. India and Brazil are large WPForms markets, and WhatsApp chat buttons on 11.15% of domains say where many of these businesses talk to customers.
Switching patterns
One exit passes our tests. 65 domains dropped WPForms and now post their forms to Web3Forms, a hosted form endpoint, 20 of them in the last 30 days, and no domain moved the other way. Only 11.7% of domains that ever showed both still do. The move is rarely a plugin swap. Only 9 of the 65 still run WordPress; 22 sit behind Cloudflare and 11 use Tailwind CSS, which looks like a site rebuilt as a static or AI-generated page with a form endpoint in place of a plugin. The flows to Gravity Forms (197), Jotform (64) and Contact Form 7 (3,704) fail because most domains that ever ran both still do.
"The one exit we can measure isn't a rival plugin. 56 of the 65 domains that swapped WPForms for Web3Forms no longer show WordPress at all." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: the flow is small but current. If you sell site rebuilds or hosted forms, sites leaving WordPress are the audience, not sites shopping for another plugin.
Technology ecosystem
Across the 266,152 domains our live crawl currently answers for WPForms, WordPress runs on 99.87%. Elementor is on 70.23%, against 19.8% for Gravity Forms; part of that gap is the integration script mentioned above. Hosting is the measured skew. Hostinger is on 17.16% of WPForms domains, against 8.18% of all 9,953,480 WordPress domains we crawl and 1.96% of Gravity Forms domains, about 2.1 times what its WordPress share predicts. GoDaddy follows at 11.34% and Bluehost at 3.1%, while the managed host WP Engine has only 2.9%. Yoast SEO is on 38.21%, All in One SEO on 12.21% and RankMath on 11.51%.
Sales signal: this is a budget-hosting audience. Hosting upgrades, managed WordPress and business email are open questions: Google Workspace appears on only 11.97% of domains and Microsoft 365 on 16%.
What G2 reviewers say
WPForms scores 4.7 out of 5 across 971 G2 reviews. Ease of use leads with 15 mentions and the drag-and-drop builder follows with 8. The complaints are about price (6) and about customisation and design that stay limited until you pay (3 and 2). That is the tension of a free Lite version, and it lines up with what we see: a base of very small companies, most of which our crawl can't separate into free and paid users.
Sales signal: "limited until you upgrade" is the objection to answer if you sell a form tool to this list. Lead with what a free tier includes, or compare against Formidable Forms and other plugins with free versions.

How old are companies that use WPForms?
Among the WPForms domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (38.84%), followed by the 2020s (27.17%). That matched subset is drawn from 173,221 companies and is not representative of all 265,024 detected domains. This suggests WPForms is most popular among relatively young companies.

Yes, in part. WPForms Lite is free on WordPress.org, where it lists 5+ million active installations. Paid plans run from Basic at $99 a year to Elite at $599, with first-year prices halved on the pricing page in September 2026 and renewals at full price. Our crawl counts Lite and Pro together, because both load the same front-end script.
Who owns WPForms?
WPForms, LLC, which is part of the Awesome Motive family of WordPress businesses. WPForms says it was founded in 2016 and is used on more than 5 million websites. Our crawl finds a WPForms form on 265,024 of the sites we cover, a floor because we read one page per site, and 65.03% of the matched companies with a known size employ ten people or fewer.

WPForms has a free Lite version and Gravity Forms is paid only, from $59 a year. In our crawl they are close in size, 265,024 domains against 277,745, and only 547 show both. WPForms users are younger (27.17% founded in the 2020s against 11.58%), more international (India second with 13,966) and more often on Elementor (70.23% against 19.8%) and Hostinger (17.16% against 1.96%).
Which is better, WPForms or Gravity Forms?
Our data can't rate them, but it shows who chooses each. WPForms suits the small, newer site: 88.8% of its matched companies have 50 staff or fewer, and it runs on many Hostinger and Elementor sites. Gravity Forms sits more often on managed hosts such as WP Engine (17.7% against 2.9%) and at larger, older firms. G2 reviewers give both 4.7 out of 5.
Which is better, WPForms or Contact Form 7?
Contact Form 7 is far more common, on 2,932,123 domains against 265,024 for WPForms, and both are free to start. Contact Form 7 builds forms from text tags; WPForms uses a drag-and-drop builder with paid upgrades. Our data shows no clear move between them: most sites that dropped WPForms and show Contact Form 7 were already running both.
Which is better, WPForms or Google Forms?
They do different jobs. Google Forms is hosted by Google and embedded or linked from a site; WPForms builds the form inside WordPress. Our crawl finds Google Forms on 11,498 domains per its profile, against 265,024 with a WPForms form. If your site runs on WordPress, WPForms keeps the form in your own pages.
Where do sites go when they drop WPForms?
The one destination that passes our tests is Web3Forms, a hosted form endpoint: 65 domains since March 2026, 20 of them in the last 30 days, and none the other way. Only 9 of those 65 still run WordPress, so most are sites rebuilt off WordPress, often behind Cloudflare, rather than a plugin swap.
Why is WPForms so common on Hostinger sites?
17.16% of live WPForms domains carry Hostinger's signal, against 8.18% of all WordPress domains we crawl and 1.96% of Gravity Forms domains, about 2.1 times what Hostinger's WordPress share would predict. It isn't one cloned site: no IP or company dominates. A host's WordPress setup suggesting free plugins would explain it, but we haven't confirmed that from Hostinger's side.
