Companies Using Route
Our October 2026 crawl finds Route on 9,023 live domains, 14th in Shipping, Fulfillment & Returns with a 1.81% share. Route sells package protection: a small fee is added at checkout, usually pre-selected so the shopper has to untick it to decline, and Route handles the claim if the parcel is lost, stolen or damaged. Order tracking, returns and cash-back offers come with it. Below is the list of companies that use Route, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Blue Origin's shop, Charlotte Russe, Ace Hotel's shop, Giordano's, Cotopaxi and Fear of God.
Route's customers are North American. 84.1% of the 3,194 matched companies are in the United States and another 230 are in Canada. Shopify runs on 94.44% of the 8,995 live Route domains we analysed on 11 October, and BigCommerce on 5.54%. On its standard plan Route costs the merchant $0 a month, because the shopper's fee pays for the protection.

Which Countries Use Route the Most?
Which countries use Route the most? The United States, with 2,687 matched companies, then Canada (230), the United Kingdom (50) and Australia (47). That's 84.1% American, and 91.3% American or Canadian, among the 3,194 matched companies. No other country reaches ten. For a seller, Route's list is a North American list; ParcelPanel's profile, by contrast, is only 34.2% American. These counts cover the domains we matched to a company.
Share of the 3,194 Route domains we matched to a company record — 35.4% of the 9,023 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Route Market Share Among Shipping, Fulfillment & Returns
What is Route's market share? 1.81% of Shipping, Fulfillment & Returns, 14th in the category by domains, based on our live crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. Of the four rows in its comparison table, only ParcelPanel is bigger, with 17,124 domains, and it sells order tracking rather than protection. Route's 9,023 is about 5.6 times Seel's 1,599, the closest like-for-like row, and well ahead of Redo (5,879), which sells claims coverage alongside returns.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Route Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Route? Small ones, by headcount. 70.31% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.01% have 11 to 50, so 94.32% have 50 or fewer. Only 10 have more than 1,000 staff. The brand names in our list look bigger than that, and the reason is where Route runs: at large organisations it's usually on a merchandise store, such as shop.blueorigin.com, shop.acehotel.com or store.rocnation.com.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (53.24%), then the 2020s (18.48%) and the 2000s (14.4%). That's older than ParcelPanel's base, where the 2020s hold 40%. Direct-to-consumer brands of the 2010s are Route's core: Cult Gaia (2012), Cotopaxi (2014) and Staud (2015) are in our list. The older end includes Giordano's (1974) and Charlotte Russe (1975).
What Industries Use Route the Most?
Retail leads at 17.54%, then Retail Apparel and Fashion (16.17%), Manufacturing (5.57%) and Personal Care Product Manufacturing (4.33%), based on our enriched company data. Food and beverage services (3.4%) and Motor Vehicle Manufacturing (1.86%) both make the top ten. No industry passes 18%. Route protects parcels, so any store shipping goods of some value is a fit.
Food brands using Route ship things that can arrive damaged: Giordano's ships its pizza nationwide from ship.giordanos.com, and Magnolia Bakery and SusieCakes sell from their own stores. Fashion brands on Route include Alice + Olivia, Cult Gaia, Staud, Fear of God and Charlotte Russe. Sports and entertainment shops using Route include Roc Nation's store, Athletics Canada's shop and Barry's apparel store.
Route Alternatives & Competitors
Three of the four rows sell a version of what Route sells. Seel (1,599 domains) offers Worry-Free Delivery and Worry-Free Purchase, Extend (1,950) sells shipping protection beside product warranties, and Redo (5,879) pairs claims with returns. ParcelPanel (17,124) is a tracking app. The biggest overlap is with Redo: 272 Route domains run Redo today, out of 338 ever seen with both. ParcelPanel shares 51 and Seel 31. Most of those stores still run both, so our switching tests publish no corridor.

Expert Analysis: Route Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Route is a protection app the shopper pays for. At checkout a protection fee of usually a few dollars is added to the order, normally pre-selected, and Route handles the claim if the parcel is lost, stolen or damaged. Our October 2026 crawl finds Route on 9,023 live domains, 14th in Shipping, Fulfillment & Returns. A domain counts when a page loads Route's widget or script from route.com or routeapp.io, or creates its Routeapp object. In our 50-company list, 49 pages loaded it when I checked and one blocked automated visits.
The stores behind the domains
Route's Shopify widget carries the store's myshopify name in its address, and its BigCommerce script carries a store ID. On the 4,785 domains where we could read one, we found 3,809 stores, about 1.26 domains each. The biggest covers 12 domains, so no agency or platform is spreading one account across hundreds of sites. The extra domains are brands' own country and alias sites, such as Naturepedic's .com and .ca stores. Route's pricing page invites brands to join 13,000+ others; on the open web we count 9,023 domains.
Sales signal: one Route row is one store in most cases. Dedupe by brand before you count accounts, and use 1.26 domains per store as a rough correction for the whole list.
The August step
The chart reads 1,916 domains in June 2026, 2,111 in July, 7,579 in August, 8,826 in September and 9,023 in October. That August jump is our side. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with closed stores dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widened that month. Read only the last two months as a trend: plus 197 domains. 1,293 domains dropped Route on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and 218 of those still run it on another. Closed stores are rare, 56 domains or 0.62% of those we analysed.
"Shoppers fund Route at the checkout, so on the standard plan the merchant pays nothing. Blue Origin's merch store runs it, and so does Magnolia Bakery's." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: Route's base is steady rather than racing ahead. Pitch to it as an established part of the store's checkout.
North American, small by headcount
2,687 of the 3,194 matched companies are in the United States, 84.1%, and Canada adds 230. The UK has 50 and Australia 47. Route's App Store listing is in English only. By headcount the companies are small: 70.31% of those with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.01% have 11 to 50. The famous names in our list often run Route on a merchandise store rather than their main business: Blue Origin, Ace Hotel, Roc Nation, Barry's and Giordano's, which ships pizza nationwide from its own subdomain.
Sales signal: at bigger organisations the Route buyer is whoever runs the merch or e-commerce store, often a small team inside a big brand. Find that team first.
What they sell
Retail (17.54%) and Retail Apparel and Fashion (16.17%) lead the industry chart, and no other label passes 6%. The rows that stand out are food and drink. Food and Beverage Services holds 3.4% of matched companies with an industry, and our list includes Giordano's, Magnolia Bakery, SusieCakes, Perfect Bar and Built, all shipping products that can arrive crushed or spoiled. Motor Vehicle Manufacturing makes the top ten too, at 1.86%.
Sales signal: fragile and perishable goods are where protection fees are easiest for shoppers to accept. The food and bakery brands on this list are the best references for a protection pitch.
Who it sits next to
Redo is the biggest overlap. 272 Route domains run Redo today, out of 338 ever seen with both. Redo sells claims coverage with its returns, and Route sells returns with its protection, so each sells the other's main product. ParcelPanel shares 51 domains and Seel 31. In every pair most stores still run both, so our switching tests publish no corridor and this page has no migration chart.
"The 272 stores running Route and Redo together are the most interesting list on this page. Each vendor sells the other's main product, and both are installed." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: for Redo, Seel or Extend, Route's domains are the obvious prospect list, and the 272 shared stores are where a consolidation pitch starts. For Route, they're the accounts to protect.
The stack around it
Shopify runs on 94.44% of the 8,995 domains we analysed and BigCommerce on 5.54%, through Route's BigCommerce checkout script. Klaviyo is on 44.5%, and Mailchimp on 14.79%, far more than on ParcelPanel's domains (2.22%) and more than on Redo's (10.6%). Reviews come from Judge.me (21.78%) and Yotpo Reviews (9.07%). Google Analytics runs on 63.32% and Instafeed on 20.66%.
Sales signal: Mailchimp runs on 14.79% of Route stores, more than on ParcelPanel's or Redo's. For an email platform selling migrations, that's the slice of this list to start with.
What it costs, and who pays
Route's pricing page (14 October 2026) lists a Standard plan at $0 a month with consumer-funded pricing and a Custom plan with flat-fee, volume-based or consumer-funded options. Its shopper help centre says the fee is usually a few dollars: a flat rate on orders under $100 and a small percentage above. The Shopify App Store listing, from RouteApp LLC, is free to install and rated 4.0 from 376 reviews, 73 of them one-star.
Sales signal: because shoppers pay, Route competes on checkout experience and claim handling more than on merchant price. A rival offering a lower monthly fee has nothing to undercut.

How much does Route package protection cost?
For shoppers, Route's help centre says the fee usually comes to a few dollars: a flat rate on orders under $100 and a small percentage of the subtotal above that, depending also on the items and shipping method. For merchants, Route's pricing page lists the Standard plan at $0 a month, funded by shoppers, with custom plans on request. Checked 14 October 2026.
Do I really need Route package protection?
It's optional, and whether it's worth paying depends on the order. Route covers lost, stolen and damaged parcels; its policy treats a domestic parcel as lost after 7 days without a tracking update, 20 days for international. It doesn't cover invalid addresses or refused deliveries. Without it, the store's own shipping policy and the carrier apply. A lawsuit filed in June 2026 (Mertson v. Route App, N.D.N.Y.) alleges that the pre-selected box adds the fee without shoppers knowingly agreeing to it; these are allegations, not findings.
Does the Route app cost merchants money?
Not on the standard plan. The Shopify App Store lists Route as free to install, with additional charges possible, and Route's pricing page (14 October 2026) shows a $0 Standard plan funded by shoppers plus a Custom plan with flat-fee, volume-based or shopper-funded pricing. The App Store listing, from RouteApp LLC, is rated 4.0 from 376 reviews.
Does Route package protection deny claims?
Route's published policy lists what it won't cover. Parcels returned to sender, sent to an invalid or undeliverable address, or refused by the customer don't count as lost. If only part of a single-package order arrives with no sign of tampering, Route sends you back to the retailer. Claims must be filed within 30 days of the last tracking update.
