Companies Using Code Black Belt

Our October 2026 crawl finds Code Black Belt on 16,455 live domains, and it ranks first in Cart & Checkout. Code Black Belt is a Zaragoza, Spain, app developer, owned by Shop Circle since 2023, with seven Shopify apps, and our rule counts a store that loads a script from any of them. Frequently Bought Together is the main product: of the 13,555 stores where we fetched a current Code Black Belt address, 8,668 loaded it. Below is the list of companies that use Code Black Belt, with size, country, industry and stack, including Goya Foods, Daniel Wellington, HarperCollins UK and Lonely Planet's shop.

The 16,455 leaves out 3,124 domains whose only Code Black Belt code is an older script address hard-coded in the store's theme. The vendor's server now answers those addresses with "410 Gone" or an error, so no app runs there. On the cleaned count Code Black Belt holds 21.42% of Cart & Checkout, 1st of 33 tools. Not every app is a cart tool, either. The currency converter and video backgrounds aren't.

Code Black Belt Usage Statistics

Code Black Belt reads 16,455 live domains in October 2026, after we removed 3,124 stores whose only Code Black Belt code is a retired script (see How We Counted). The chart has one point because that cut comes from a homepage fetch of every domain on 14 October, and earlier months can't be cleaned the same way. Since we began tracking Code Black Belt on 4 August 2026, 1,512 domains dropped it on at least one hostname, and 199 of those still run it on another hostname.

Code Black Belt Customer Reviews with Pros and Cons

Code Black Belt is a developer, so these reviews cover its main app, Frequently Bought Together: across 42 Shopify App Store reviews with text we read in October 2026 (the 30 most relevant plus those rated three stars or lower), merchants credit it with higher order values and praise quick support. The main complaints, from a small critical set, are confusing bundle setup and a few installs that did not work.

Generated from real user reviews on Shopify App Store

  • Many praise quick, helpful support, including custom placement and styling fixes made within minutes.(13 reviews)
  • Reviewers call it easy to set up, with some live on their product pages within a couple of minutes.(9 reviews)
  • Several like the flexible bundle options, from discounts and free bonus items to widgets that match the store design.(6 reviews)
Cons
  • Some found setup confusing, especially building manual bundles, even after tutorials and emails to the team.(4 reviews)
  • A few say it did not work for them, citing an app that stopped working, a jump in bot activity or sales figures they doubted.(3 reviews)
  • A few hit feature gaps in older versions, such as no cart-page bundles or untranslatable labels (both now on the listing), and some found the default position on the page too low.(3 reviews)
  • A couple find it expensive, wanting more from the free plan or switching to a cheaper bundle app.(2 reviews)

How We Counted Code Black Belt Customers

A domain counts here when a page on it loads a script from codeblackbelt.com. That covers all seven of Code Black Belt's Shopify apps, so the count is of stores carrying any of them, and a store running two apps counts once. The current apps load from addresses under cdn.codeblackbelt.com/widgets/. Older installs put a different address, under /js/modules/ (or, on a few stores, /scripts/), straight into the store's theme, and Code Black Belt's server no longer serves those files: it answers "410 Gone" for the old Frequently Bought Together, Also Bought and Currency Converter Plus addresses, "404" for the old shipping calculator and an error page for the rest. A store whose only Code Black Belt code is one of those addresses still matched our rule, but no Code Black Belt app runs on it.

On 14 October 2026 we fetched the homepage of every one of the 19,579 domains left after setting aside for-sale and gambling pages. 13,555 loaded a current Code Black Belt address. 3,124 carried only retired addresses, and we removed them. 1,822 answered without any Code Black Belt code in the page we received, which happens with bot checks, redirects and stores that removed it after our crawl, and about 1,080 didn't answer. We kept both groups, because a single failed fetch doesn't prove a store dropped the app. So the 16,455 is our crawl's raw 19,598 domains, minus 19 for-sale or gambling pages, minus the 3,124. A random sample of 300 domains, taken first, had found 50 retired-only stores among 284 with the code; the full fetch gives 3,124 of 16,679, about 18.7%.

Every chart, table and share on this page uses the 16,455. Before the cut, Code Black Belt's category share read 25.33%. The usage chart has one point because the cut comes from a single fetch, and earlier months can't be cleaned the same way. Every company in the list loads a current Code Black Belt address; we dropped two candidates, one whose only code was retired and one behind a bot check we couldn't pass.

Expert Analysis: Code Black Belt Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

David Thomson
David ThomsonCTO, TechnologyChecker

The first thing I check on any profile is what the rule catches. For Code Black Belt it's any script from codeblackbelt.com, and that turned out to need a correction. Code Black Belt, a Zaragoza developer owned by Shop Circle since 2023, has seven Shopify apps, from Frequently Bought Together to a video background, and all of them load from its servers. After the correction, our October 2026 crawl finds 16,455 live domains, 1st of 33 in Cart & Checkout with 21.42%, and we matched 5,801 of them to a company.

Code that no longer runs

Code Black Belt's current apps load from addresses under /widgets/. Older installs pasted a different address, under /js/modules/, into the store's theme, and the vendor's server now answers those requests with "410 Gone" or an error. The address stays in the theme after the app stops, so our rule kept counting the store. On 14 October we fetched all 19,579 homepages: 13,555 loaded a current address and 3,124 carried only retired ones, and we removed those 3,124. Most of the dead code is old Frequently Bought Together (1,561 stores), then the shipping calculator (627) and Also Bought (416). Another 1,822 domains showed no Code Black Belt code to our fetcher and about 1,080 didn't answer; they stay in, because one failed fetch isn't proof of removal.

Sales signal: a store with only the retired script left in its theme once installed an upsell app and stopped using it. It's most likely a former Code Black Belt customer, and its theme tells you which app it used.

One main app

Of the 13,555 stores with a current address, 8,668 run Frequently Bought Together, 2,060 Also Bought, 1,378 the Shipping Rates Calculator, 924 Currency Converter Plus and 460 Add To Cart Anywhere. Only 492 run two or three. The App Store numbers match: Frequently Bought Together CBB showed 1,208 reviews on 14 October 2026, more than the other six apps' combined 1,027. The usage chart has one point because the cut comes from that single fetch. Since 4 August 2026, 1,512 domains dropped Code Black Belt on at least one hostname, and 199 still run it on another.

"Most live Code Black Belt stores run one app, Frequently Bought Together. The bigger correction to our raw count was the old script still sitting in themes after the app stopped." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: treat the list as a Frequently Bought Together list with extras. If you sell a bundle or cross-sell tool, this is the incumbent you're replacing.

Established small stores

67.94% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, and 91.02% have 50 or fewer. They are older than the other suites' customers: 48.84% were founded in the 2010s and only 18.49% in the 2020s, against 34.56% on KaktusApps's profile. 54 companies have more than 500 staff, among them Goya Foods, which runs Frequently Bought Together on shop.goya.com, and HarperCollins UK. Daniel Wellington and Lonely Planet run it too, and AVI-SPL, Renold and Spectrum Plastics use Also Bought on parts and equipment stores.

Sales signal: these owners have run their stores for years and picked their upsell app long ago. Pitch a measurable gain over the app they already have.

English-speaking, retail-led

The United States has 2,499 matched companies, the United Kingdom 632, Australia 427 and Canada 343; with New Zealand's 62 that is 3,963. India (274) is fifth, and Germany (154), Spain (98) and France (85) lead continental Europe. Retail is 21.01% of matched companies and Retail Apparel and Fashion 8.96%. Manufacturing (4.88%) is higher here than on KaktusApps's profile (2.96%) or AOV.ai's (3.9%), and Wholesale adds 2.42%, a sign of B2B sellers.

Sales signal: the manufacturing and wholesale stores are the underserved group. They run consumer-style upsell apps on parts catalogues, and B2B quoting or reorder tools fit them better.

Rivals in the same theme

The category table sets Code Black Belt beside CartBot (8,297 domains), AOV.ai (6,351), Product Customizer (5,398) and KaktusApps (4,407). 199 domains run CartBot and Code Black Belt today, out of 237 ever seen with both. Product Customizer shares 150 (166 ever), AOV.ai 126 (138) and KaktusApps 103 (108). Our switching tests reject all four pairs, because most stores that ever ran both still do. They do different jobs: a free gift, a product option, a cross-sell.

"Stores here don't pick one app vendor. 199 run CartBot next to Code Black Belt, and 84% of the stores ever seen with both still have both." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: a rival can sell next to Code Black Belt without displacing it. A direct replacement pitch has to beat Frequently Bought Together on its own ground.

Reviews and email beside it

On the 16,455 domains behind these shares, Judge.me sits on 34.09% and Loox on 9.97%. Frequently Bought Together pulls star ratings from Judge.me and Loox, so the pairing is practical. Klaviyo email is on 39.25%, Mailchimp on 12.16% and Google Analytics on 75.98%. Instafeed (16.8%) and Hextom (12.34%) are the most common other app vendors.

Sales signal: about three in five stores here don't run Klaviyo email. For an email or SMS vendor, an established Shopify store with an upsell app already installed is a good fit.

What it costs

Frequently Bought Together CBB's App Store listing (checked 14 October 2026) has a free Starter plan with up to three manual bundles, then $9.99, $24.99 and $39.99 a month for stores with up to 50, up to 500 and more than 500 orders a month, with a 14-day trial. It launched on 15 March 2017.

Sales signal: a store crossing 500 orders a month goes from $24.99 to $39.99. That jump is the easiest opening a flat-priced rival will get.

What are the best alternatives to Code Black Belt?

It depends on the app. For bundles and cross-sells, AOV.ai (6,351 domains) and KaktusApps (4,407) are the other suites in our Cart & Checkout data. For free gifts added to the cart, CartBot (8,297) is the common choice.
