Companies Using Product Customizer

Our October 2026 crawl finds Product Customizer on 5,398 domains, all of them Shopify stores. The app, listed on the Shopify App Store as PC - Custom Product Options, adds fields to a product page: engraving text, a file upload, a colour swatch or a dropdown, with an optional surcharge for each choice. Below is the list of companies that use Product Customizer, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Dreame's US store, Gabriela Hearst, Le Slip Français, Caffenio and the UK Parliament shop.

Our catalogue files it in Cart & Checkout, where it ranks 5th of 33 with 7.03%, but it's a product-options app, and its natural rivals sit in Product Customization. Shopify allows three options per product, and apps like this one get round that. It has been on the App Store since November 2012, and its buyers are small: 73.99% of the 1,764 companies we matched have 1 to 10 staff.

Product Customizer Usage Statistics

We began detecting Product Customizer on 4 August 2026, so the chart starts in August with 4,172 domains, then 5,307 in September and 5,398 in October. The August reading covers part of a month. Beyond that, the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with closed stores dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection widens over time, so the September step isn't evidence of new installs. 428 domains have dropped the app on at least one hostname since 4 August, and 89 of those still run it on another.

Product Customizer Market Share Among Cart & Checkout

What is Product Customizer's market share? 7.03% of Cart & Checkout, 5th of the 33 technologies we track there, based on our crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. It's 953 domains behind AOV.ai and only 78 ahead of Fastrr (5,320), so the rank can change on any refresh. The fairer comparison is with other options apps. HulkApps Infinite Product Options has 7,439 domains in our Product Customization table (Shopify removed it from the App Store on 15 October 2026 after a security incident) and Bold Options 5,267, so Product Customizer sits between those two.

Expert Analysis: Product Customizer Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Emma Davies
Emma DaviesData Analyst, TechnologyChecker

Our catalogue files Product Customizer with the cart tools, but the app adds option fields to product pages, and when I pulled it from our October 2026 crawl its customers looked like it: jewellers, team stores, opticians, gift shops. A domain counts here when its pages load the app's script from productcustomizer.com's CDN, which carries the store's Shopify address. That gives 5,398 domains, 1,764 matched to a company, 5th of 33 in Cart & Checkout. I loaded every company page in our list in mid-October: all 50 carried the script, one of them, Hockley Valley Resort's shop, behind a bot wall that needed a full browser.

What the count measures

The script loads on every page of a store with the app installed, but the fields only appear on the products a merchant has set up. So the count is stores with Product Customizer installed, not how many products use it. Domains overstate stores a little: where we could read the store address, 4,248 domains belonged to 3,503 stores. The biggest groups are personalisation sellers that buy keyword domains: I Like Big Buttons, a KAM snap seller, has 15, and Anvil Customs, which makes leather wallets, has 7. Closed and broken stores are about 1% of the clean set.

Sales signal: dedupe by store, and expect a few sellers to own clusters of exact-match domains.

A short chart

We began detecting the app on 4 August 2026, so the chart reads 4,172 in August, 5,307 in September and 5,398 in October. The August point covers part of a month, and the rest of the movement is mostly ours: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with closed stores dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection widens over time. Since 4 August, 428 domains have dropped the app on at least one hostname, and 89 of those still run it on another.

"Product Customizer sits in our cart category, but its customers are jewellers, team stores and opticians. It sells the options on the product page, not the cart." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: treat it as a settled pool of about 5,400 domains. Three monthly readings can't support a trend either way.

Who the customers are

73.99% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 19.78% have 11 to 50. Age is where Product Customizer differs from CartBot. Only 21.63% were founded in the 2020s, against 27.15% on CartBot, and 18.22% before 2000. The app has been on the Shopify App Store since November 2012, so part of this base probably installed it years ago and kept it. Only five companies have more than 1,000 staff. Dreame runs it on its US store and Caffenio on its shop for business customers.

Sales signal: these are established small stores. The buyer is usually the owner, and the pitch has to fit a long-running setup.

Jewellers, team stores and opticians

Retail (20.58%) and Retail Apparel and Fashion (10.09%) lead, but the smaller rows explain the product. Retail Luxury Goods and Jewelry is 3.47%: engraving and nameplate pieces need a text field and a price for it. Spectator Sports is 1.97%, and our list has Hull Kingston Rovers, the St George Illawarra Dragons and school spirit stores, which sell team kit where a printed name and number is a typical option. Four Latin American optical chains, Más Visión, Lafam, Lux and Vision Center, run it on their stores. By country, the United States has 914 matched companies and the United Kingdom 247, about one British company for every 3.7 American ones.

Sales signal: if you sell print-on-demand, engraving or personalisation services, the jewellery and sports rows are the warmest part of this list.

Few switches, little stacking

We publish no switching table for Product Customizer, because nothing passed our tests. 150 domains run Code Black Belt alongside it today, out of 166 ever seen with both; Code Black Belt sells different apps, so that's stacking. Direct rivals rarely share a store. Bold Options runs on 132 of the 5,350 clean domains and HulkApps Infinite Product Options on 94, with Zakeke on 43 and Teeinblue on 39. Most stores run one options app.

"No rival options app reaches 2.5% of Product Customizer stores. Stores rarely run two options apps at once." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: a rival options app has to sell migration help, such as importing templates and fields, or it won't move these stores.

The stack around it

Across the 5,350 clean live domains, Judge.me is on 19.83% and Klaviyo on 19.66%, close to Mailchimp's 16.67%. On CartBot's domains Klaviyo is on 49.24% and Mailchimp on 11.44%. Mailchimp still holds a real share here. Instafeed is on 16.8% and Hextom on 7.68%, and Google Analytics is on 59.74%.

Sales signal: the Mailchimp share makes this list a good one for email platforms looking for stores still on Mailchimp.

Price and reviews

The App Store listing (checked 14 October 2026) shows a free plan with unlimited basic fields, Basic Customizer at $8.90 a month with uploads, swatches and templates, and Premium Customizer at $18.90 with conditional logic and upcharge pricing, each with a 14-day trial. It's rated 4.7 from 1,174 reviews as of 24 October 2026. Shopify's help centre allows three options and 2,048 variants per product and points merchants to apps beyond that, which is the gap this app fills.

Sales signal: stores charging for engraving or names need Premium's upcharge pricing, so the jewellery and team-store rows are the most likely paying accounts.

Key takeaways

1. 5,398 domains, 5th of 33 in Cart & Checkout and only 78 ahead of 6th.

2. A product-options app, not a cart tool.

3. Small, older stores, with jewellery, team stores and opticians standing out.

4. Little overlap with other options apps.

5. Mailchimp on 16.67% of stores, against 11.44% on CartBot's.

How to use this list

Filter by industry for jewellery, sports and eyewear, then dedupe by store. A first line that fits: "You already sell personalised products through Product Customizer; here's how to make the personalisation step faster."
