Companies Using PushOwl
Our crawl finds 85,529 domains running PushOwl, which makes it the largest web push tool we detect and gives it 54.3% of the Push Notifications category. It is also the most single-platform product on this site: 98.28% of those domains also run Shopify.
That one number decides how to read everything below. PushOwl is a Shopify app, so its footprint is a slice of Shopify's merchant base rather than a slice of the web. The companies we can name are mostly retail brands running a Shopify storefront, often on a shop. subdomain of a much larger corporate site.

PushOwl Usage Statistics
Our current crawl window covers June to August 2026 and shows PushOwl on 85,529 active domains (62,336 → 84,178 → 85,529). Do not read that first step as growth. The June to July jump is 35% in a single month, which no Shopify app achieves, and it lands in the same window our corpus expanded. The honest figure from this window is the flat July to August step of about 1,350 domains. Separately, 12,748 domains have dropped PushOwl since we began tracking it in March 2026, roughly 15% of the current base.

There are 85,529 companies and domains where we detect PushOwl, sign up to download the entire PushOwl dataset.
powerstations.duracell.com, VTech on hktoys.vtech.com, Mind on shop.mind.org.uk and Davante on tienda.davante.es. These are brand storefronts on Shopify, not the corporate websites, so a large employee count belongs to the parent company rather than to the team running the store. Pep Stores, Party City, JB Hi-Fi, rue21, Fashion Nova and Edgars are the clearest cases of a substantial retailer running PushOwl on its main commerce domain.Which Countries Use PushOwl the Most?
The United States accounts for 36.2% of the enriched companies we can place, followed by the United Kingdom at 8.95%, Canada 6.13%, Australia 5.72% and France 5.07%. That is close to Shopify's own country mix rather than to the web's, which is what you would expect from an app distributed through one platform's marketplace. India at 4.84% ranks higher here than its share of global e-commerce spend, and reflects a large base of small direct-to-consumer stores.
Share of the 27,662 PushOwl domains we matched to a company record — 32.3% of the 85,529 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
PushOwl Market Share Among Push Notifications
PushOwl holds 54.3% of the Push Notifications category, ranking first of the 39 technologies we detect in it, with OneSignal second at 29.73%. Treat that as two markets rather than one ranking. 98.28% of PushOwl's domains also run Shopify; only 0.7% of OneSignal's do. The category also carries a second row for PushOwl under a separate id, holding 2,461 domains that are almost entirely a subset of the main row, so the category total is slightly inflated and PushOwl's true share is nearer 55%.
Top Competitors by Market Share
PushOwl Customers by Company Size & Age
66.6% of the companies we can size have 10 employees or fewer and 22.75% have 11 to 50. Together that is close to nine in ten under 50 people. Only 28 companies in the enriched set have more than 5,000 employees. This is a small-merchant product by distribution, not only by price: it is installed from an app store in a few minutes and has a free tier.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
44.79% of these companies were founded in the 2010s and 26.92% in the 2020s, so roughly seven in ten are under 15 years old. That is the Shopify cohort. The 3.22% founded before 1960 are mostly established retail and manufacturing brands that added a Shopify storefront later, which is why they show up on a subdomain rather than their main site.
What Industries Use PushOwl the Most?
Retail is 14.88% and Retail Apparel and Fashion another 10.14%. Adding the narrower retail labels, Luxury Goods and Jewelry at 2.78% and Health and Personal Care at 2.19%, brings direct retail to roughly 30% of the enriched base.
The categories below retail are the ones worth reading: Manufacturing at 4.22% and Food and Beverage Manufacturing at 2.41% are brands selling their own product direct, and Wellness and Fitness Services at 4.08% plus Personal Care Product Manufacturing at 3.45% are the supplement and beauty end of Shopify. LinkedIn's industry label describes the company, not the store, so a manufacturer here is usually running a consumer storefront.
PushOwl Alternatives & Competitors
OneSignal is the only competitor at comparable scale, and the two barely meet. Of the 11,778 domains that dropped PushOwl and no longer run it anywhere, only 6 ended up on OneSignal, 2 on PushAlert and 1 on Gravitec. Nine switches out of nearly twelve thousand departures means merchants who leave PushOwl are leaving web push, or leaving Shopify, rather than choosing a rival. The real competition is Klaviyo and the other marketing apps already in the store, which is a different contest from the one this category's ranking implies.

Tech Stack of PushOwl-Powered Websites
Shopify appears on 98.28% of PushOwl domains, which is the defining fact of this profile. Underneath it, Klaviyo is on 32.96% while Brevo, which owns PushOwl, is on only 9.96%: the parent company's own marketing platform is three times less common on PushOwl stores than its largest competitor. Judge.me at 30.67% and Klaviyo Reviews at 28.25% show the same merchant assembling a stack of single-purpose apps rather than buying a suite. We have deliberately left payment brands out of this table: on a Shopify store those match the footer icon block, not an installed processor.

Expert Analysis: PushOwl Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I cover SaaS migration and competitive positioning at TechnologyChecker, and PushOwl is the clearest example I have found of a market-share number that means something quite different from what it looks like. We detect it on 85,529 active domains across 27,662 enriched companies as of our August 2026 crawl. It ranks first of the 39 technologies in Push Notifications with 54.3%. Every one of those figures is correct and every one of them is easy to misread.
1. This is not a category leader, it is a platform's default
98.28% of PushOwl domains also run Shopify. For OneSignal, the number two in the same category with 46,835 domains, the figure is 0.7%. These two products do not share a customer base, a distribution channel or a buying process. PushOwl is installed from the Shopify App Store, usually free, usually in minutes. OneSignal is chosen by a developer who needs push on a website or a mobile app.
So "PushOwl leads web push with 54%" is true of our table and misleading as a market statement. What it actually says is that Shopify is very large and that PushOwl won the app store inside it.
2. The churn data settles it
This is the check I would want before believing any competitive claim. 11,778 domains have dropped PushOwl and no longer run it anywhere. Of those, 6 now run OneSignal. Two moved to PushAlert and one to Gravitec. Nine switches out of nearly twelve thousand departures is not a competitive market; it is two products that never meet.
"If a leaving customer does not turn up at your competitor, that competitor is not who you are losing to. Nine switches out of 11,778 departures tells you the real alternative here is nothing at all." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
The practical reading for anyone selling into this space: a store that drops PushOwl has usually stopped selling, redesigned, or decided web push was not worth the effort. Winning that domain back is a category problem, not a feature comparison.
3. Read the trend line carefully, because most of it is us
Our current-crawl series runs 62,336 in June, 84,178 in July and 85,529 in August 2026. A 35% single-month rise is not something a mature Shopify app does, and it lands in the same window our corpus expanded. The honest signal from this window is the July to August step of about 1,350 domains, which is roughly flat. The category's own momentum data agrees, showing PushOwl down about 1,470 over 30 days and level over 90.
The figure that is genuinely informative is churn: 12,748 dropped domains against an 85,529 base, tracked since March 2026. Web push is a low-commitment install and it comes off as easily as it went on.
4. The company names need their detection URL read alongside them
The largest names in our list are real detections, but several are storefronts rather than corporate sites. Duracell matches on powerstations.duracell.com, VTech on hktoys.vtech.com, Mind on shop.mind.org.uk, Davante on tienda.davante.es. The LinkedIn headcount attached to each belongs to the parent company, not to the team running the store, so treat the employee column as context rather than as account size. Pep Stores, Party City, JB Hi-Fi, rue21, Fashion Nova and Edgars are the cleanest examples of a large retailer running this on its primary commerce domain.
We checked the 60 largest against Shopify: 58 of 60 also carry a Shopify detection. The two that do not, iam.ma and domino-rh.com, matched across five separate crawls each, so they are stable rather than artefacts. They are also the exception that proves the rule.
5. The owner's own product is not the one these merchants use
Brevo, formerly Sendinblue, acquired PushOwl in September 2021 and now ships it as Brevo PushOwl with email and SMS bundled in. On the stores where we detect PushOwl, Klaviyo appears on 32.96% and Brevo on 9.96%. The parent company's marketing platform is on a third as many of its own app's stores as its largest competitor. Judge.me at 30.67% and Klaviyo Reviews at 28.25% complete the picture: this merchant buys single-purpose apps and assembles them, which is exactly the behaviour a bundled suite is meant to displace.
Sales signal: the addressable motion here is not "replace your push app". It is "you already pay for Klaviyo, and the push app you got for free belongs to their competitor". That is a conversation about consolidation, and the 32.96% figure is the opening.
6. One caveat about our own data
Our dictionary carries a second entry for this product, matching a narrower Shopify SDK path, covering 2,461 domains. Essentially all of them already appear under the main entry. Category totals sum rows, so the Push Notifications total is inflated by that amount and PushOwl's true share is nearer 55% than the 54.3% plus 1.6% the table implies. We have reported it for merging rather than editing the generated data by hand.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses PushOwl?
We detect PushOwl on 85,529 domains, including Pepstores, Iparty, JB Hi-Fi Limited. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Retail (14.88%).
How many customers does PushOwl have?
We detect 85,529 domains running PushOwl across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 27,662 of them (32.3%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 12,748 domains carried a PushOwl detection previously and no longer do.
What is PushOwl's market share?
PushOwl holds 54.3% of the Push Notifications category, ranking #1. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.
What are the best alternatives to PushOwl?
By footprint, OneSignal (46,835 domains) is the only alternative at scale, followed by Webpushr (4,071), Knock (3,993), Pushly (1,668) and Gravitec (1,524). For a Shopify merchant the practical alternatives are narrower, because most of those are general-purpose tools. In our churn data the most common outcome for a store that drops PushOwl is running no web push at all.
Which countries use PushOwl the most?
The United States at 36.2% of enriched companies, then the United Kingdom (8.95%), Canada (6.13%), Australia (5.72%), France (5.07%), India (4.84%) and Germany (4.21%). The mix tracks Shopify's own geography rather than general web usage, which follows from the app being distributed through one marketplace.
What size companies use PushOwl?
Small ones. 66.6% of the 27,662 companies we could enrich have 10 employees or fewer and 22.75% have 11 to 50, so nearly nine in ten are under 50 people. Larger names do appear, but usually as a brand storefront rather than the whole company: Duracell matches on powerstations.duracell.com and VTech on hktoys.vtech.com.
How old are companies that use PushOwl?
44.79% were founded in the 2010s and 26.92% in the 2020s, so roughly seven in ten are under 15 years old. That is the Shopify generation of retail. About 3% were founded before 1960 and are established brands that added a storefront later.
What is the ideal customer profile for PushOwl?
A Shopify store with 1-10 employees, founded in the 2010s or later, selling retail or apparel, based in the US, UK, Canada or Australia, and already running Klaviyo or Mailchimp for email plus a reviews app such as Judge.me. That profile covers the large majority of the base we can enrich.
How many websites use PushOwl?
Our crawl detects PushOwl on 85,529 active domains as of our August 2026 crawl. That makes it the most widely detected web push tool on the web and gives it 54.3% of the Push Notifications category. A further 12,748 domains have carried it at some point since we began tracking it in March 2026 and no longer do.
Is PushOwl only for Shopify?
In practice, almost. 98.28% of the domains where we detect PushOwl also run Shopify. It is distributed as a Shopify app and its listing, plans and integrations are built around Shopify. We do find a small number of non-Shopify installs, which are stable across repeat crawls, but they are a rounding error against the Shopify base.
Who owns PushOwl?
Brevo, the European marketing platform formerly called Sendinblue. The acquisition was announced on 23 September 2021, alongside Metrilo and Chatra. The Shopify listing is now published as Brevo PushOwl: Email, Push, SMS and bundles email and SMS with web push. Our detection still matches the original PushOwl script, which is why the technology is listed under its original name.
Is PushOwl free?
There is a free tier. The Shopify listing offers a Basic Bundle at no cost covering 500 web push notifications a month, 500 emails and unlimited subscribers, then a Plus Bundle at $19/month and a Power Bundle at $79/month with unlimited push. The free tier is a large part of why the footprint is so wide relative to the category: installing it costs a merchant nothing.
PushOwl vs OneSignal: which should I use?
They are aimed at different buyers, and our data shows they rarely compete. PushOwl runs on Shopify stores (98.28% Shopify) and is built for e-commerce campaigns such as abandoned cart, back-in-stock and price drop. OneSignal runs almost anywhere (0.7% Shopify, roughly 10% WooCommerce) and is a general push platform with mobile SDKs. Of the 11,778 domains that dropped PushOwl entirely, only 6 moved to OneSignal. If you run a Shopify store, PushOwl is the default; if you need mobile push or a non-Shopify site, it is not an option.
What industries use PushOwl?
Retail dominates. Retail is 14.88% and Retail Apparel and Fashion 10.14%; adding Luxury Goods and Jewelry and Health and Personal Care brings direct retail to about 30%. Below that sit Manufacturing (4.22%), Food and Beverage Services (4.21%) and Wellness and Fitness Services (4.08%), which are mostly brands selling their own product direct to consumers.
Is PushOwl any good?
Merchants rate it highly. The Shopify App Store listing shows 4.8 out of 5 across 2,232 reviews, with 2,120 of those at five stars and 31 at one star. Recurring praise covers the abandoned-cart and browse-abandonment automations, quick setup and responsive support. The recurring complaints are about the Brevo relationship rather than the push product: several merchants report the app creating a duplicate Brevo account when the Shopify and Brevo email addresses differ, and describe the split between brevo.com and the app as confusing.
Does PushOwl work without Shopify?
Not meaningfully for most buyers. We detect a handful of non-Shopify domains carrying the script, and they persist across repeat crawls, so the detection is real. But the product is built, priced and supported as a Shopify app, and 98.28% of the installed base reflects that.
How do you detect PushOwl?
Two signals: a script loaded from cdn.pushowl.com, and a pushowl JavaScript global on the page. Both require the app to be live on a page our crawler fetched, so a detection means the code was actually served, not that an account exists. Note that our dictionary also carries a second, narrower entry matching /sdks/pushowl-shopify.js; it covers 2,461 domains that are almost all already counted under the main entry.
What else do PushOwl stores run?
Beyond Shopify at 98.28%: Klaviyo on 32.96%, Judge.me on 30.67%, Klaviyo Reviews on 28.25%, Instafeed on 15.26%, Mailchimp on 10.48% and Brevo on 9.96%. The Brevo figure is worth noting given Brevo owns PushOwl: its own platform is on a third as many PushOwl stores as Klaviyo is.
