Companies Using Jimdo

I analysed Jimdo against our September 2026 crawl, and the first thing to pin down is which Jimdo sites the count covers. We detect Jimdo from its own response headers, script assets and page markers (the general method is in how we detect technologies). On that basis 105,434 domains run Jimdo today and 54,120 match a company record. Almost all of them sit on their own domain, and that detail tells you more about these customers than the total does.

What the count covers

Only 1,785 of the 105,641 live Jimdo domains are Jimdo subdomains: 954 on jimdosite.com and 831 on jimdofree.com. The other 98.3% use their own domain, and on Jimdo's current plans connecting your own domain needs a paid plan. So this is a list of sites someone chose to put on a real domain. Free test sites barely appear.

They are working sites, too. Of 36 random Jimdo domains we loaded, 35 were live Jimdo sites and one returned a server error. In a second check of 200 random domains, 175 ran Jimdo Creator, the older editor, 14 ran the newer Jimdo Website Builder (launched as Jimdo Dolphin in 2017) and 11 did not load. Most Jimdo sites with their own domain were built in Creator.

Sales signal: treat a Jimdo domain as an established small site with an owner who chose to keep it. Creator allows custom code, so those sites can take third-party widgets, booking tools and tracking; Jimdo does not list custom code among the Website Builder's features.

Growth trajectory

The line is flat: 101,245 domains in June, 102,000 in July, 102,146 in August and 105,434 in September. Only 4.04% of today's Jimdo domains were first detected in August or September, so the small September rise is ordinary movement. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, and our detection signals widen over time. Since March 2026, 2,558 domains dropped Jimdo, about 2.4% of the live base.

Sales signal: this is a replacement market. The opportunity is the owner who has outgrown the site, and the migration data below shows where those owners go.

A German builder first

32,388 of the matched companies are German, more than eight times France's 3,971, and 48,713 live domains end in .de. Add .ch (8,462) and .at (4,559) and German-speaking domains reach 61,734, 58.4% of the total. In the global CMS table Jimdo is 11th of 750 at 0.64%, but that table stacks WordPress with page builders and themes. Among German companies the picture changes: IONOS MyWebsite has 33,503, Wix 33,325 and Jimdo 32,388, three hosted builders within 3.5% of each other, well ahead of Duda (18,188) and Strato Website (17,733).

Japan is the market people ask about. Jimdo is offered in Japanese, but only 325 matched companies are Japanese and 1,429 domains end in .jp. Company records miss many small Japanese sites on .com, and in our 200-site sample 12 were in Japanese. That is a real audience, but not a second Germany.

Sales signal: sell to Jimdo customers in German. Spectator Sports at 3.81% (1,371 companies) is mostly German and Swiss sports clubs, a segment you can filter on directly.

Who the customers are

88.23% of matched companies with a known size employ 1 to 10 people and 10.35% employ 11 to 50. Only 19 have more than 1,000 staff. Founding years peak in the 2010s (49.28%), and 82.42% were founded before 2020, so these are small but settled businesses. Retail (6.69%), Medical Practices (6.59%), Business Consulting and Services (6.38%) and Individual and Family Services (6.32%) lead a flat industry list.

The larger names split two ways. The Center for AI and Digital Policy and BPW International run their main sites on Jimdo Creator, while LBV runs its Naturschwärmer site and Kulturprojekte Berlin its shop there. Sales signal: write for owner-operators: dentists, therapists, trades, clubs. Company size is the strong filter here; industry is a weak one.

Where leavers go

Of the 2,046 domains where Jimdo disappeared from every host since March 2026, 389 now run WordPress: 19% of leavers, against 0.2% of domains still on Jimdo, and 321 of those moves came in the last 90 days. Only 54 moved from WordPress to Jimdo. Wix took 80, with 4 going the other way, and Shopify 50, with 24 the other way. For all three, fewer than a third of the domains ever seen with both still show both, so these are replacements rather than side projects. Smaller moves went to Squarespace (22), Webflow (9) and Framer (5), too few to publish as rows.

Sales signal: WordPress agencies and hosts in Germany have a steady source of switchers, 131 in the last 30 days alone. Retention tools for Jimdo sites should target the owner who has started adding pages or products.

The stack on a Jimdo site

Google Analytics is on 16.32% of live Jimdo domains, Google Tag Manager on 8.34% and the Facebook Pixel on 7.77%. PayPal on 11.15% mostly reflects Jimdo's own shop checkout. Business email is thin: Microsoft 365 on 4.81% and Google Workspace on 2.38%. We leave out rows that sit on nearly every Jimdo site because they belong to the platform, including Cloudflare, Jimdo's built-in cookie banner and SendGrid at 79.1%.

Sales signal: fewer than one Jimdo site in five carries Google Analytics and fewer than one in ten a tag manager, so analytics, ads and email tools have room here.

What reviewers say

G2 lists Jimdo at 3.7 out of 5 from only 19 reviews (September 2026), too few to draw themes from. That fits a builder bought by sole traders and clubs rather than software teams. Our own numbers are the better read on whether owners stay: 2,558 drops since March against a flat base of 105,434.
