Companies Using Instagram
This page measures websites that embed Instagram content: a post, a reel or a feed widget rendered on their own pages by Instagram's embed script. Until September 2026 it measured something different and much looser, a hyperlink to an Instagram profile, which is why it used to sit under digital asset management. Linking to a profile and embedding a feed are different decisions, and only the second one puts Instagram's code on the page. The count, the category and the company list all changed because the measurement changed, not because anything grew.
As of our September 2026 read we detect the embed on 35,411 domains, with enriched company records for 19,145 of them. The named list skews hard towards institutions, with universities, school districts and public agencies alongside consumer brands, and the embed usually sits on a newsroom, library or student-life subdomain rather than a homepage. For audience-side figures such as demographics and reach, see our Instagram user statistics report; this page is only about where the embed code appears.

Instagram Usage Statistics
This rule has only two monthly reads behind it: 25,687 active domains on 1 August 2026 and 35,411 on 1 September. Two points are not a trend, and we will not read one from them.
The gap between them is also not adoption. Our crawled corpus grew from roughly 201 million to 379 million active domains over the summer of 2026, so a larger count partly reflects a larger crawl. Expect this series to become readable only after several more months on a settled corpus.
List of Companies Using Instagram
Our verified list of companies using the Instagram embed is dominated by institutions. Penn State, the University of Wisconsin, USC, Georgia Tech and City University of New York sit alongside the State of California, Washington State and Denver Public Schools, with consumer brands such as Wegmans, Asus, Keurig Dr Pepper, Barilla and Baskin-Robbins.
Two caveats before you use it. First, this list is ranked by prominence rather than sampled at random, so it over-represents large organisations; the aggregate breakdowns above are the honest picture of who embeds Instagram. Second, the detection URL is usually a departmental subdomain, such as news.wisc.edu, global.psu.edu, studentlife.northeastern.edu or library.uncg.edu, which tells you a team inside the organisation embedded a feed rather than that the institution adopted anything centrally. Instagram's own domain appears too, as you would expect of a rule that matches its embed script.

Which Countries Use Instagram the Most?
Which countries embed Instagram the most? The United States leads with 6,612 enriched companies, and Brazil is a clear second on 2,190, ahead of India (1,166), the United Kingdom (825) and Germany (714).
Brazil's placing is the notable one, since it outranks every European market on this list. Thailand (354), Indonesia (310) and Argentina (195) also appear, giving the embed a broader non-Anglophone spread than the named company list on its own suggests.
Share of the 19,145 Instagram domains we matched to a company record — 54.1% of the 35,411 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Instagram Market Share Among Social Media & Content Curation
This page carries no market-share percentage and no category rank, and that is deliberate. Our detection dictionary does not assign Instagram to a technology category, so there is no set of comparable products to form a denominator, and any share figure would have to be invented before it could be published.
What we can report is the absolute figure: the embed script is live on 35,411 domains in our September 2026 read, with enriched company records for 19,145 of them. If the dictionary later files this signature under a category, a share and a rank will appear with it.
Instagram Customers by Company Size & Age
Is the Instagram embed a small-business thing? Largely. 63.25% of the 19,145 enriched companies have 1-10 employees, and adding the 11-50 band covers 84.75% of them.
The large organisations that do appear are mostly institutional rather than corporate: universities, school districts and state agencies make up most of the recognisable names in the list below, with consumer brands such as Wegmans, Asus and Keurig Dr Pepper beside them.

Company Age (Founded Decade)
What Industries Use Instagram the Most?
Retail leads at 5.74%, ahead of Spectator Sports (3.33%), Advertising Services (2.90%) and Non-profit Organizations (2.73%). Nothing passes 5.8%, which makes this a very flat spread: Wellness and Fitness (2.57%), Real Estate (2.47%), Restaurants (2.47%) and Construction (2.17%) all sit within a point of each other, and education appears twice, as Primary and Secondary (2.08%) and Higher Education (1.94%).
Retail brands embedding Instagram lead at 5.74%, which is what you would expect of businesses whose product photography already lives on the platform. Spectator sports at 3.33% is the second vertical, with clubs and leagues pulling match content straight onto club sites, and non-profits at 2.73% use the same mechanism for campaign and volunteer stories.
The aggregate understates education, though. The two education rows come to just over 4% of enriched companies, yet universities and school districts dominate the size-ranked company list below, because the institutions that embed tend to be very large and to do it on many subdomains at once.
Instagram Alternatives & Competitors
This page lists no competitors, and there is no set to list. Our detection dictionary does not place the Instagram embed in a technology category, so we have no peer group to rank it against and no denominator to compute a share from. An empty competitor table here means not assigned, rather than no alternatives exist.
In practice the alternatives a site weighs are third-party feed widgets and plugins that pull Instagram content on a schedule, which are a different class of product. We do not present them as substitutes, because we do not measure them on the same footing.

Expert Analysis: Instagram Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

This page was re-identified in September 2026, and the change is larger than it looks. The old rule matched a hyperlink to an Instagram profile, the icon in a site's footer. The new rule matches Instagram's embed script, which a site loads to render an actual post, reel or feed in its own pages. The first is a mention; the second is code. Only the second belongs on a technology profile, which is also why the page has moved out of digital asset management and into social media marketing.
Link versus embed
Almost every business with an Instagram account links to it. Far fewer embed it, because embedding is a build decision: someone has to put the script on the page, accept the third-party request and keep the widget looking right. What this page counts now is that decision, on 35,411 domains in our September 2026 read, with enriched company records for 19,145 of them.
If you used the older figures for anything, a prospect list or a share claim, they were measuring the link rather than the embed and are not comparable with what is here now.
The stack looks like a website, not a marketing department
This is the part worth dwelling on. The technologies that co-occur with the Instagram embed are page-building technologies: jQuery on 61.94% of domains, core-js on 45.98%, Cloudflare on 30.88%, WordPress on 29.78%, jQuery Migrate on 28.76%, jQuery UI on 21.12%, Swiper on 19.16% and Elementor on 9.66%.
Two details give the game away. jQuery Migrate at 28.76% is a compatibility shim for older themes, and Swiper at 19.16% is a carousel library, which is exactly what you would add to run a row of Instagram images across a page. Meanwhile Google Analytics reaches only 53.78%, so barely half of these sites are instrumented at all. On a conversion pixel, by contrast, a tag manager and an analytics suite are effectively universal. The Instagram embed is a design element added by whoever builds the page, not a martech component chosen by a growth team.
Institutions embed more than brands do
The named list is dominated by universities, school districts and public agencies. Penn State, Wisconsin, USC, Georgia Tech, CUNY, the State of California, Washington State and Denver Public Schools all appear, with the detection almost always on a departmental subdomain: news.wisc.edu, global.psu.edu, studentlife.northeastern.edu, library.uncg.edu.
Be careful how far you take that. The list is ranked by prominence, so it over-represents very large organisations. In the aggregate the two education rows come to just over 4% of enriched companies, behind Retail on 5.74% and level with Spectator Sports and Advertising Services. The honest reading is that institutions are over-represented among the biggest embedders because their websites are federated, with dozens of departments each free to drop a feed onto its own page, while the median embedder is still a small consumer business with fewer than ten staff.
Why this page carries no market share
Our detection dictionary does not assign Instagram to a technology category, so there is no peer set to divide by. We could manufacture a denominator, pick a plausible category and publish a percentage, and the number would be fiction. Showing the absolute count and an empty competitor table is the more useful answer. If the dictionary later files this signature, a share and a rank will follow.
And no trend, yet
There are two monthly reads behind this rule: 25,687 active domains on 1 August 2026 and 35,411 on 1 September. Two points cannot describe a direction, and the window is the wrong one in any case, because our crawled corpus grew from roughly 201 million to 379 million active domains over the summer. Treat the September figure as a snapshot and wait for the series.
What to take away
1. A detection here means a site renders Instagram content, not that it links to a profile. 2. 35,411 domains as of September 2026. 3. The co-installed stack is WordPress and jQuery, and only 53.78% run Google Analytics. 4. Large institutions dominate the named list while small consumer businesses dominate the aggregate. 5. No share and no competitor set is a deliberate absence, not a gap in the data.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Instagram?
We detect Instagram on 35,411 domains, including CA, Instagram, Penn State. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Retail (5.74%).
How many customers does Instagram have?
We detect 35,411 domains running Instagram across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 19,145 of them (54.1%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 1,097 domains carried a Instagram detection previously and no longer do.
What is Instagram's market share?
We do not publish a market-share figure for Instagram in the Social Media & Content Curation category, because we could not compute a denominator we trust for it. We detect it on 35,411 domains; treat that as an absolute count rather than a position in the category.
Which countries use Instagram the most?
United States leads with 6,612 matched Instagram domains, followed by Brazil (2,190), India (1,166), United Kingdom (825), Germany (714). These are counts within the 19,145 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.
What size companies use Instagram?
The most common company size is 1-10 employees, representing 63.25% of the Instagram domains we could match to a company record and size — a subset of 19,145 matched companies, not of all 35,411 detected domains. This is followed by 11-50 employees (21.5%) and 51-200 employees (8.28%).
How old are companies that use Instagram?
Among the Instagram domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (36.64%), followed by the 2020s (19.17%). That matched subset is drawn from 19,145 companies and is not representative of all 35,411 detected domains. This suggests Instagram is most popular among relatively young companies.
What is the ideal customer profile for Instagram?
The ideal Instagram customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees, Location: US, Brazil, or India, Industry: Retail, sport, or education, Founded: 2010-2019, Company Age: ~7-16 years old — based on our analysis of 19,145 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.
What counts as a company using Instagram on this page?
A site that loads Instagram's embed script to render Instagram content in its own pages, such as a post, a reel or a feed widget. A link to an Instagram profile does not count. That is a change from how this page worked before September 2026, when it matched the profile link rather than the embed.
What changed in September 2026?
The detection was re-pointed from an account link to the embed script, and the page moved from digital asset management to social media marketing to match. The count, the company list and the category are all different as a result. The change reflects a different measurement, not growth or decline in how many sites use Instagram.
Why is there no Instagram market share on this page?
Our detection dictionary does not assign Instagram to a technology category, so there is no comparable set of products to act as a denominator. Rather than pick a category and publish a percentage that would not mean anything, we show the absolute count of 35,411 domains and leave the share and rank empty.
How many websites embed Instagram content?
As of our September 2026 read, 35,411 domains were running Instagram's embed script, with enriched company records for 19,145 of them.
What size organisations embed Instagram?
Of 19,145 enriched companies, 63.25% have 1-10 employees and 21.5% have 11-50, so 84.75% are under fifty people. The large exceptions are mostly institutional rather than corporate: universities, school districts and public agencies, usually embedding on a departmental subdomain.
Which industries embed Instagram most?
Retail leads at 5.74%, followed by Spectator Sports at 3.33%, Advertising Services at 2.90% and Non-profit Organizations at 2.73%. The spread is very flat, with nothing above 5.8% and wellness, real estate, restaurants and construction all within a point of each other.
Which countries have the most sites embedding Instagram?
The United States leads with 6,612 enriched companies and Brazil is second with 2,190, ahead of India (1,166), the United Kingdom (825) and Germany (714). Thailand, Indonesia and Argentina also appear in the top fifteen.
What else runs on sites that embed Instagram?
Mostly website-building technology rather than marketing technology: jQuery on 61.94% of domains, core-js on 45.98%, Cloudflare on 30.88%, WordPress on 29.78%, jQuery Migrate on 28.76% and Swiper on 19.16%. Google Analytics reaches only 53.78%, so barely half of these sites are instrumented at all.
Can the rise from August to September 2026 be read as growth?
No. There are only two monthly reads for this rule, 25,687 active domains on 1 August and 35,411 on 1 September, and our crawled corpus grew from roughly 201 million to 379 million active domains over the same summer. A larger count partly reflects a larger crawl, so the series is too short and too unsettled to read a trend from.
