Companies Using Givebutter
Our September 2026 crawl finds 8,873 websites running Givebutter, and 6,989 of them resolve to a named organisation. These are the companies that use Givebutter to take donations on their own site, and each one is checkable: The Legal Aid Society, ACDI/VOCA, Girl Up, Concordia College and the Air & Space Forces Association all load its donation widget. Below is the full list of Givebutter customers with size, founding decade, industry and website stack.
The count is a floor. We detect Givebutter when a page loads one of its scripts, so a nonprofit that only links out to a Givebutter campaign page, or shows it in an iframe, doesn't appear here. What we can see is small and American: 6,430 of the matched organisations are in the United States, and 71.99% employ 10 people or fewer. Our tables file Givebutter under Payment Processing, where it ranks 18th, because it handles the payment side of each gift. Its real rivals are donation platforms such as GiveWP and Donorbox.

Givebutter Usage Statistics
We began detecting Givebutter on 4 August 2026, so this chart has two points: 6,253 websites in August, a partial first month, and 8,873 in September. Every domain running it today was first seen after that start date. The step between the two points reflects changes on our side, both the detection filling in across our crawl and the set of domains we crawl turning over each month as dead sites drop out and new ones are added. It isn't a rush of nonprofits signing up, and September is the figure to quote.

Which Countries Use Givebutter the Most?
Which countries use Givebutter the most? The United States, almost exclusively: 6,430 of the matched organisations with a known country are American. The United Kingdom has 10, and no other country reaches that many. Most of the small non-US rows, in places such as Uganda, Kenya and Haiti, are the overseas programmes of US charities. For prospecting, treat Givebutter as a US list.
Share of the 6,989 Givebutter domains we matched to a company record — 78.8% of the 8,873 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Givebutter Market Share Among Payment Processing
What is Givebutter's market share? It holds 0.11% of our Payment Processing category and ranks 18th, based on our crawl of live business domains at TechnologyChecker.io. It sits in that table because it handles the payment side of every donation, which puts it beside PayPal, Apple Pay and the card networks that appear on checkout pages across the web. Among donation tools the picture changes. In September more websites loaded Givebutter's widget (8,873) than carried any Donorbox signal (6,935), even though Donorbox's count also includes plain links to its donation pages. GiveWP, a WordPress donation plugin matched on its own script, is larger at 32,934.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Givebutter Customers by Company Size & Age
What size organisations use Givebutter? Mostly very small ones. 71.99% of the 6,870 matched organisations with a known size employ 1 to 10 people, 20.09% employ 11 to 50 and 5.68% employ 51 to 200. Only 26 have more than 1,000 staff. The named list below looks bigger because it is sorted by LinkedIn footprint, which lifts The Legal Aid Society, QSAC and Saint Francis Ministries above a base made mostly of charities with ten or fewer staff.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
More than half of the matched organisations with a founding year started after 2009: 32.94% in the 2010s and 21.1% in the 2020s, which fits a platform launched in 2016. The rest are older than you might expect. 291 were founded before 1960, among them The Legal Aid Society (1876), the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids (1866) and the Community of Christ (1830), so Givebutter's customers include institutions that are well over a century old.
What Industries Use Givebutter the Most?
Non-profit Organizations is the top label at 35.38%. Add Civic and Social Organizations (6.38%) and Non-profit Organization Management (5.12%) and the three nonprofit labels reach 46.88% of matched organisations, based on our enriched company data at TechnologyChecker.io. Most of the rest is mission-driven work filed under a service label instead: Individual and Family Services (4.41%), Performing Arts (2.65%), Mental Health Care (2.34%) and Religious Institutions (2.28%).
Nonprofits that use Givebutter cover legal aid, international development and youth work: The Legal Aid Society runs it on legalaidnyc.org, ACDI/VOCA on acdivoca.org and Girl Up on girlup.org. Health and mental health organisations on Givebutter include CenterLight Healthcare, Adelante Healthcare and the Mental Health Cooperative in Nashville. Schools are another group, among them Concordia College and Alliance College-Ready Public Schools in Los Angeles. A few users aren't charities at all: the fitness franchise HOTWORX loads the widget on hotworx.net.
Givebutter Alternatives & Competitors
The table below comes from our Payment Processing category, so it lists PayPal, Apple Pay, Shop Pay, Visa and Mastercard. Those are ways to pay that show up on checkout pages across the web, not tools a nonprofit weighs against Givebutter, and PayPal is one of the payment options inside Givebutter's own donation form. The real alternatives are other donation platforms. The GiveWP customers list covers the WordPress plugin route, and the companies that use Donorbox embed a donation form much as Givebutter's users do. Zeffy, Fundraise Up, Classy and Qgiv compete for the same nonprofits. Few sites run two: GiveWP appears on 2.87% of Givebutter's live domains and Donorbox on 0.5%.

Across the 8,994 domains where Givebutter is live today, WordPress runs on 50.4% and Squarespace on 27.75%, with Elementor (16.78%) and Wix (6.73%) behind them. The WordPress share lines up with Givebutter's own plugin, which 1,750 domains use to load the widget. Hosting splits between GoDaddy (27.26%), WP Engine (7.47%) and Bluehost (4.89%). Email tools are rare: Mailchimp reaches 7.52%, SendGrid 3.74% and Constant Contact 3.54%. We leave out Lit, a web-component library on 95.5% of these sites, because Givebutter's widget ships it.

Expert Analysis: Givebutter Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I analysed Givebutter against our September 2026 crawl, and the first question is what the number counts. We detect Givebutter on 8,873 websites, and 6,989 of them match an organisation record. Every one of those sites loads a Givebutter script, and when we opened a sample in a real browser, all 32 of the sites we could test loaded Givebutter.
What the crawl sees, and what it misses
There are two ways to take a Givebutter donation online. A nonprofit can send donors to a campaign page hosted on givebutter.com, or it can put Givebutter on its own site as a widget. We only see the second. Of the 5,093 domains where we logged which Givebutter file loaded, 4,262 use the current loader from widgets.givebutter.com, 758 the older widget.js and 669 Givebutter Elements, and some load more than one. A plain donate link or an iframe-only embed never reaches our detection.
That makes 8,873 a floor, and a particular kind of floor. It is the organisations that built giving into their own website, which takes more setup than sharing a campaign link.
Sales signal: treat this list as Givebutter users who have wired donations into their own site. If you sell nonprofit websites, donor CRMs or email tools, these organisations have already invested effort in online giving.
Two points on the chart
We added Givebutter detection on 4 August 2026. The chart therefore starts with a partial month, 6,253 websites in August, and reaches 8,873 in September. Every domain live today was first seen after 4 August. Two things on our side moved that number. The new detection was still filling in across our crawl, and the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly discovered ones added. Neither tells you how fast Givebutter itself is growing.
"Givebutter only looks new in our chart because we started watching it in August. Every domain on it was first seen after that date, so read September as a measurement, not a trend." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: use the list for targeting. Timing signals will have to wait until the series covers a few more months.
Small, American and mostly charitable
71.99% of the 6,870 matched organisations with a known size employ 10 people or fewer, and only 26 employ more than 1,000. Geography is simpler still. 6,430 of the matched organisations with a known country are in the United States, and no other country has more than 10. Three nonprofit labels (Non-profit Organizations, Civic and Social Organizations, and Non-profit Organization Management) cover 46.88%, and much of the rest is family services, mental health, the performing arts and churches filed under service labels.
Age is where the base surprised me. More than half were founded after 2009, but 291 predate 1960. The Legal Aid Society dates from 1876, the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids from 1866 and the Community of Christ from 1830. A fundraising tool launched in 2016 now takes donations for institutions that are well over a century old.
Givebutter's own homepage names United Way chapters, Boys and Girls Clubs, Meals on Wheels America and the Salvation Army in Texas among its users. Our crawl finds the same kind of organisation independently: Orange County United Way runs Givebutter across five domains.
Sales signal: filter on the United States and the 1 to 50 employee bands, which hold 92.08% of matched organisations with a known size. At that size the buyer is usually the person who runs the organisation, so pitch to them directly.
One account, one website
Givebutter's loader carries an account id, which lets us check whether a few large customers are spread across many domains. They aren't. The 4,255 domains with a readable id belong to 3,953 separate accounts, about 1.08 domains each. The largest account covers 9 domains, all run by Aish, a Jewish education organisation (aish.com, aishglobal.com, its conference site and a dating site). Orange County United Way has 5, and so do the Metro YMCAs. Those are one organisation's sister sites. We found no template copied across unrelated charities.
Some organisations do answer on more than one address. In our random browser sample, 6 of 22 sites redirected to another domain belonging to the same group, such as footballforlife.org to worldchanging.org.
Sales signal: here the domain count is a fair stand-in for the number of organisations. Merge redirecting aliases before you size a campaign.
WordPress, Squarespace and a plugin
Across the 8,994 domains where Givebutter is live today, WordPress runs on 50.4% and Squarespace on 27.75%. The WordPress share is no accident: 1,750 domains, 41% of those with a readable account id, load the widget through Givebutter's WordPress plugin. Hosting follows the same small-organisation pattern, with GoDaddy on 27.26%, WP Engine on 7.47% and Bluehost on 4.89%.
Marketing tools are thin. The Facebook Pixel is on 15.69%, about one site in six, and Google Ads conversion tracking on 6.28%. Mailchimp is the most common email tool at 7.52%, with SendGrid (3.74%) and Constant Contact (3.54%) behind it, and at least four in five of these sites show none of the six email tools in our stack table.
Sales signal: email is the opening. Givebutter includes its own email tools, which may explain part of it, but for email vendors and nonprofit agencies four in five sites with no email platform is a lot of open ground.
Where Givebutter sits among donation tools
Our category tables file Givebutter under Payment Processing, where it ranks 18th with 0.11%, because it handles the payment side of each gift. That is why the competitor table shows PayPal and the card networks. Among donation tools the comparison needs care, because each one is detected differently. GiveWP, a WordPress plugin matched on its own script, is on 32,934 domains. Donorbox is on 6,935, but its count includes plain links to Donorbox pages, which Givebutter's does not. Patreon, Ko-fi and Buy Me a Coffee are counted from profile links, and they serve creators rather than charities.
Very few sites run two donation tools. Among Givebutter's live domains, GiveWP appears on 258, Kindful on 138, Fundraise Up on 76 and Donorbox on 45. We can't see a switching pattern yet either: in seven and a half weeks of tracking, no movement between Givebutter and another donation platform reaches 25 domains.
"Givebutter ranks among payment tools because it processes the gift, but nonprofits compare it with GiveWP and Donorbox. On a script-only count it already runs on more websites than carry any Donorbox signal." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: if you sell a donation platform, the Givebutter list is mostly single-tool sites, so winning one means replacing Givebutter rather than sitting beside it. If you sell to nonprofits, it is a clean list of organisations that already take money online.
Key takeaways
1. 8,873 websites and 6,989 matched organisations load Givebutter's script; link-only users are not counted.
2. 6,430 of the matched organisations with a known country are American.
3. 71.99% employ 10 people or fewer, yet 291 were founded before 1960.
4. 4,255 domains map to 3,953 accounts, close to one site per organisation.
5. 1,750 domains install through the WordPress plugin, and Squarespace runs on 27.75% of live domains.
How to use this list
Start with the United States and the 1 to 50 employee bands. Combine the three nonprofit industry labels rather than filtering on one, and merge alias domains that redirect to the same organisation. For vendors selling into nonprofits, the stack columns are the sharpest filter on the page: a Squarespace or WordPress site with a Givebutter widget and no email platform is a well-defined prospect.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Givebutter?
Mostly small American nonprofits. Our crawl finds Givebutter's donation widget on 8,873 websites, 6,989 matched to an organisation, including The Legal Aid Society, ACDI/VOCA, Girl Up, Concordia College and the Air & Space Forces Association. Non-profit Organizations is the top LinkedIn label at 35.38%, and three nonprofit labels together cover 46.88%. A few businesses use it too, such as the fitness franchise HOTWORX.
How many customers does Givebutter have?
We detect Givebutter on 8,873 websites in our September 2026 crawl, and 6,989 of them match an organisation record. Treat that as a floor: we count sites that load Givebutter's script, so nonprofits that only link to a Givebutter campaign page aren't included. The count is close to one site per customer, because the 4,255 domains with a readable account id belong to 3,953 accounts.
What is Givebutter's market share?
Givebutter holds 0.11% of our Payment Processing category and ranks 18th. It sits there because it processes the donations it collects, so that table measures it against PayPal, Apple Pay and the card networks. Among donation tools it counts for more: more websites load Givebutter (8,873) than carry any Donorbox signal (6,935), while the WordPress plugin GiveWP is larger at 32,934.
What are the best alternatives to Givebutter?
Nonprofits usually compare GiveWP, Donorbox, Zeffy, Fundraise Up, Classy (now GoFundMe Pro), Qgiv and Bloomerang. GiveWP suits WordPress sites that want donations inside their own install, and Donorbox offers the most similar embedded form. The payment brands in our competitor table, such as PayPal and Visa, are ways to pay rather than alternatives. Few sites mix tools: Donorbox appears on only 0.5% of Givebutter sites.
Which countries use Givebutter the most?
The United States, almost exclusively. 6,430 of the matched organisations with a known country are American, and the United Kingdom is next with 10. The other non-US rows are in single digits, mostly the overseas programmes of US charities in countries such as Uganda, Kenya and Haiti. For prospecting purposes, the Givebutter customer list is a US-only list.
What size companies use Givebutter?
Small ones. 71.99% of the 6,870 matched organisations with a known size employ 1 to 10 people, 20.09% employ 11 to 50 and 5.68% employ 51 to 200. Only 26 have more than 1,000 staff, among them The Legal Aid Society, ACDI/VOCA and Saint Francis Ministries. The typical Givebutter customer is a local charity, school or community group with a handful of staff.
How old are companies that use Givebutter?
It's mixed. The largest group of matched organisations was founded in the 2010s (32.94%), followed by the 2020s (21.1%), so 54.04% started after 2009. But 291 predate 1960, including The Legal Aid Society (1876), the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids (1866) and the Community of Christ (1830). Givebutter, founded in 2016, serves new causes and century-old institutions alike.
What is the ideal customer profile for Givebutter?
A US nonprofit with 1 to 10 staff, filed under Non-profit Organizations or a civic or family-services label, running a WordPress or Squarespace website with Givebutter's donation widget embedded. A second, smaller profile is the established institution, such as a legal aid society, a YMCA or a college, founded decades ago and taking online gifts through Givebutter.
Is Givebutter legit?
Yes. Givebutter is a US fundraising platform founded in 2016, and our crawl finds its donation widget running on 8,873 websites, including The Legal Aid Society, ACDI/VOCA and Concordia College. On a donor's card statement a Givebutter gift shows as GB* followed by the organisation's name, and the money goes to that organisation rather than to Givebutter.

WordPress runs on 50.4% and Squarespace on 27.75% of the 8,994 domains where Givebutter is live, with Elementor on 16.78% and Wix on 6.73%. How can you tell if a website uses Givebutter?
View the page source and look for a script from widgets.givebutter.com (the current loader, which carries the account id), js.givebutter.com or givebuttercdn.com, or a givebutter-widget element on the page. TechnologyChecker.io detects those scripts. A site that only links to a givebutter.com campaign page, or embeds one in an iframe, leaves no script to find, so we don't count it.
Is Givebutter better than Donorbox?
That depends on the organisation, but our crawl shows how each is used. Givebutter loads on 8,873 websites; Donorbox carries a signal on 6,935, and that count includes plain links to Donorbox pages, which Givebutter's does not. Only 45 domains run both. 71.99% of Givebutter's matched organisations have 1 to 10 staff, almost all of them in the United States, and its pricing relies on optional donor tips.
