A favicon of Fathom

Companies Using Fathom

Our detection data carries 24,423 domains running Fathom Analytics, the paid, cookie-less analytics product at usefathom.com. Company records matched for 15,191 of them, 62.2% of the base, so every industry, size, country and age figure below describes that matched subset rather than all 24,423. The list of companies using Fathom Analytics further down is ordered by headcount and is therefore the unrepresentative end of it: among matched companies we could also place in a size band, 88.92% employ fewer than fifty people.

This page was re-identified in September 2026. It previously reported 16,233 domains under an older technology identifier. The 24,423 figure comes from a different detection system with different coverage, so the two counts are not a growth curve and the gap between them is not adoption. Fathom now holds 0.13% of the Web Analytics category and ranks 26th in it, inside a category of roughly 18.2 million domains where Google Analytics alone accounts for 62.77%. For a paid product with no free tier competing against a free incumbent, a small share is a statement about Google's reach rather than about Fathom's health.

Fathom Usage Statistics

Fathom's detected footprint reads 19,534 active domains on 1 June 2026, 22,550 in July, 23,283 in August and 24,423 on 1 September 2026. That rise is not adoption. Our crawled corpus grew from roughly 201 million to about 379 million active domains across the same four readings, close to a doubling, so nearly every technology we track gained detections in this window. A footprint that rose by a quarter while the corpus nearly doubled did not gain ground. The series is also short by design: this detection cluster began covering Fathom in March 2026, which is why there is no earlier history on this page and why no year-on-year figure is published. The September reading carries 26,066 domains in its wider total against 24,423 active; the headline count uses the active figure.

List of Companies Using Fathom

The list of companies using Fathom Analytics below is ordered by headcount, so it shows the largest matched records rather than a typical one. Two things are worth reading off it. Seventeen of the fifty are detected on a subdomain rather than a main hostname — developer.ibm.com, investors.danaher.com, blog.railway.com, brand.hashicorp.com, video.liverpoolfc.com, recruitment.cardiffmet.ac.uk, myplace.cuyahogacounty.gov and ten others — which is what a departmental or single-property deployment looks like, not a company-wide analytics rollout. And several rows are the same buyer: Danaher appears alongside four of its operating companies (Beckman Coulter twice, Pall and SCIEX), Menasha appears with its ORBIS subsidiary, and Microchip with Microsemi. Ten of the fifty rows belong to three corporate groups, so a list like this overstates how many separate organisations are behind it.

There are 24,423 companies and domains where we detect Fathom, sign up to download the entire Fathom dataset.

Recognisable brands using Fathom Analytics in our current detection set, each shown with the property the script was actually found on:

  • IBM — developer.ibm.com, its developer portal rather than the corporate homepage
  • Esri — www.esri.com, the main corporate site
  • HashiCorp — brand.hashicorp.com, its brand asset site
  • Railway — blog.railway.com
  • Liverpool FC — video.liverpoolfc.com
  • Essex County Council — www.essex.gov.uk, a UK local authority running it on the main domain
  • Cuyahoga County, Ohio — myplace.cuyahogacounty.gov, its property records portal
  • Bupa — expressyourhealth.bupa.com
  • BDO — separately in the UK (www.bdo.co.uk) and Australia (bdoaustralia.bdo.com.au)
  • Abcam, Medpace and Beckman Coulter — life-sciences firms, the last of them a Danaher operating company
  • University of Chicago (alumniandfriends.uchicago.edu), Dartmouth (www.tuck.dartmouth.edu), Heidelberg (backend.uni-heidelberg.de) and Cardiff Metropolitan (recruitment.cardiffmet.ac.uk) — higher education recurs, usually on one faculty, alumni or recruitment site

Public bodies and universities recur for a reason a cookie-less tag makes obvious: a site that would otherwise need a consent banner for analytics can drop the banner entirely. Every name here is a domain where our own detection fired; we do not reproduce a vendor's logo wall.

Which Countries Use Fathom the Most?

The United States leads with 5,039 matched companies, 33.2% of the 15,191 we could identify, and the United Kingdom sits unusually close behind at 2,662 (17.5%) — together just over half the matched base. The shape underneath is the interesting part. Germany has 1,088 (7.2%) and the Netherlands 800 (5.3%), ahead of Canada's 714. Norway has 458 and Belgium 413, both ahead of France (383) and Australia (346), which is not a population ranking by any reading. The eleven European countries below the United Kingdom in this top fifteen hold 4,324 matched companies between them, 28.5% of the base. Fathom sells EU isolation, processing EU visitor data on servers in Germany (usefathom.com), and the distribution is what that pitch would predict: strongest in small, wealthy markets where privacy regulation bites hardest.

Fathom Market Share Among Web Analytics

Fathom Analytics holds 0.13% of the Web Analytics category and ranks 26th in it. The category we measure holds roughly 18.2 million domains, and its shape explains that number better than any judgement about Fathom does. Google Analytics is on 11,453,947 domains, 62.77%, and Site Kit, the WordPress plugin whose main job is installing Google Analytics, adds another 3.54%, so Google's surfaces are 66.31% of the category between them. Cloudflare Browser Insights is second at 11.34% (2,069,681 domains), switched on inside an account a site already has. Google Analytics' footprint is roughly 469 times Fathom's. A subscription with no free tier is not competing for the same domains as a free default, so 0.13% describes the denominator more than the product. For a paid business the figure that carries more information is the base itself: 24,423 live domains, with 1,735 more that have dropped their detection since coverage began, a 7.1% churn ratio.

Fathom Customers by Company Size & Age

67.09% of matched companies employ ten people or fewer and 21.83% employ 11 to 50, so 88.92% of the sized base is under fifty staff. The tail thins fast: 7.25% at 51-200, 1.94% at 201-500, and just 54 companies above five thousand employees — 0.38% — split evenly between the 5,001-10,000 and 10,001+ bands at 27 each. Those 54 are why the company list on this page reads like an enterprise roster while the distribution says the opposite. Percentages here are shares of the 14,274 matched companies we could also place in a size band, not of all 24,423 detected domains.

What Industries Use Fathom the Most?

Software Development is the largest single industry at 5.82%, with Technology, Information and Internet at 4.51% and IT Services at 4.19% — 14.52% across the three, roughly one matched company in seven working in technology. Advertising Services (3.21%) and Business Consulting (3.12%) come next and most likely represent agencies running the tag across client sites. After that it flattens: Real Estate 2.77%, Non-profit Organizations 2.74%, Construction 2.43%, Professional Training and Coaching 2.06%, Design Services 2.01%. No industry reaches 6%, which makes Fathom horizontal in practice, with a technology and creative-services lean rather than a vertical concentration.

IT Services and IT Consulting568 (4.19%)

Software development companies using Fathom Analytics are the largest vertical at 5.82%, or 789 matched companies. Advertising and consulting firms using Fathom Analytics account for a combined 6.33% (858 companies), the pattern you would expect from agencies standardising on one privacy-safe tag across client work rather than from any single large buyer. Non-profits using Fathom Analytics are 2.74% (371) and design studios 2.01% (273): small organisations with a compliance obligation and no analytics team, which is the profile Fathom's pricing and single-dashboard design are built for. All percentages are shares of matched companies with a resolved industry.

Fathom Alternatives & Competitors

The category's five largest are Google Analytics (62.77%), Cloudflare Browser Insights (11.34%), WordPress.com Stats (3.7%), Site Kit (3.54%) and Snowplow Analytics (2.21%). Google Analytics and Site Kit, the plugin that installs it, are 66.31% of the category between them, and every one of the five is free at the point of use or bundled into something a site already pays for. Fathom's real competitive set — paid, cookie-less, privacy-first products — sits far below this table, which is why a share comparison against it tells a buyer very little. Our own co-occurrence data suggests the contest is not zero-sum either: 40.75% of live Fathom domains also run Google Analytics.

Tech Stack of Fathom-Powered Websites

Co-occurrence is measured against the 24,527 Fathom domains live in the September crawl, a slightly different base from the 24,423-domain rollup the headline uses, which is why these percentages do not divide neatly into it. The spread is wide and it points two ways at once. jQuery is on 62.94% (15,437 domains), jQuery Migrate on 31.45% and WordPress on 39.36% (9,654) — that is the established CMS web, where Fathom is a plugin-shaped decision. But Tailwind CSS is on 29.6% (7,259), less than ten points behind WordPress, with core-js on 33.47% — that is a hand-built, bundled front end. The firmographics side with the second reading: 67.09% of sized companies have ten staff or fewer, 60.65% of dated ones were founded in 2010 or later, and the three largest industries are software, technology and IT services. Cloudflare fronts 46.17% (11,323) of the base. And 40.75% run Google Analytics alongside Fathom, with 43% on Google Tag Manager, the tag that usually carries it.

Fathom Customer Reviews with Pros and Cons

The G2 sentiment snippets we carry for Fathom Analytics are thin: the strongest theme, fast and user-friendly insight, rests on two mentions, and every criticism rests on one. Read them as directional only. What they do agree on is consistent — the praise is for speed, simple setup and the single dashboard, and the criticism is for the absence of depth, specifically limited customisation of reports and dashboards. That is the same trade-off stated from both sides, and it describes the product's design rather than contradicting it. Pricing is raised as a consideration rather than a complaint, which is what you would expect from a paid-only tool whose buyers chose it over a free default.

Expert Analysis: Fathom Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Mehmet Suleyman
Mehmet SuleymanCEO & Co-founder, TechnologyChecker

This analysis reads the September 2026 data on this page: 24,423 domains detected running Fathom Analytics, 15,191 of them matched to a company record (62.2%), and 1,735 more that carried a detection and no longer do. That match rate is high for a product of this size, and it is the main reason the demographic charts here are worth reading at all: a 62.2% matched base supports a distribution claim in a way a 20% one does not.

Read the change in the headline before you read the headline

This profile was re-identified in September 2026. It previously sat on an older technology identifier and reported 16,233 domains; it now sits on the live identifier for Fathom and reports 24,423. That is not fifty per cent growth. The two counts come from different detection systems, with different rulesets, different crawl coverage and different windows, and subtracting one from the other produces a number that means nothing. If you cited the old figure, replace it rather than treating the gap as a trend.

The current rule is worth stating plainly, because it decides what a customer means on this page. A domain qualifies when the crawl sees the JavaScript global fathom.blockTrackingForMe or a script loading from cdn.usefathom.com/. Both clauses are vendor-owned and both describe the tracker actually running in the page. That is a stronger claim than many technology detections can make: no DNS record that outlives the subscription that created it, no outbound link to a vendor's website, no payment badge in a footer. When this page says 24,423 domains, it means the Fathom script loaded.

0.13% is a statement about the denominator

Fathom holds 0.13% of the Web Analytics category and ranks 26th. The category holds roughly 18.2 million domains and Google Analytics is on 11,453,947 of them (62.77%), about 469 times Fathom's footprint. Site Kit, the WordPress plugin whose main job is installing Google Analytics, adds 3.54%, so Google's own surfaces are 66.31% of the category. Cloudflare Browser Insights, a switch inside an account a site already holds, is second at 11.34%.

Every one of those is free at the point of use. Fathom is not: it is a subscription with no free tier (usefathom.com/pricing). A paid product measured by domain share against free defaults will always look small, and the ratio flatters nobody on either side. The number that carries information about this business is not the share, it is the 24,423 domains and how many of them stay.

Who actually runs it

The distribution is unusually concentrated. 67.09% of sized companies employ ten people or fewer and 88.92% employ fewer than fifty. Only 54 companies in the whole matched base have more than five thousand staff. On founding dates, 60.65% of dated companies were founded in 2010 or later. On industry, Software Development (5.82%), Technology and Internet (4.51%) and IT Services (4.19%) are the three largest at 14.52% together, with Advertising (3.21%) and Business Consulting (3.12%) behind them.

Geography is where it gets interesting. The United States (5,039) and the United Kingdom (2,662) are just over half the matched base, which is unremarkable. The shape underneath is not: the Netherlands (800) outranks Canada (714), and Norway (458) and Belgium (413) both outrank France (383) and Australia (346). Small, wealthy, tightly regulated European markets are over-represented relative to their size, and Fathom's EU isolation — EU visitor data processed on servers in Germany, per usefathom.com — is a direct answer to exactly that buyer's problem.

The co-occurrence table disagrees with itself, usefully

Co-occurrence is measured against the 24,527 domains live in the September crawl rather than the 24,423 in the rollup, so those percentages will not divide evenly into the headline. On that base, jQuery appears on 62.94% and WordPress on 39.36%: the established CMS web. But Tailwind CSS appears on 29.6%, less than ten points behind WordPress, with core-js on 33.47%. Those two readings describe different websites and both are real — Fathom's base is genuinely split between plugin-installed WordPress sites and hand-built modern front ends. The firmographics lean towards the second: micro-companies, founded since 2010, in software and design.

The number I would put in front of a strategist, though, is this one. 40.75% of live Fathom domains also run Google Analytics, and 43% run Google Tag Manager. Two in five sites running the product Fathom defines itself against are running both of them. That is coexistence, not conversion: a team keeping Google Analytics for historical continuity, or trialling Fathom in parallel before committing. It reframes the sales motion, because on most of these domains the competitor has not actually been displaced.

Retention, and what 7.1% does not prove

1,735 domains have dropped their Fathom detection against 24,423 that still carry it, a 7.1% churn ratio. For a paid tool a drop is a real event: somebody stopped paying, or pulled the tag. Two caveats before anyone quotes that as a retention benchmark. First, coverage of Fathom in this detection cluster only began in March 2026, and a six-month observation window mechanically produces a lower churn ratio than a two-year one, so this figure is not comparable with ratios measured over longer windows. Second, churn ratios for analytics tags are often inflated by consent gating, because a tag that fires only after a cookie banner is accepted appears and disappears depending on what the crawler was served; Fathom is cookie-less and generally loads without a banner, so its ratio should be less polluted by that effect than a cookie-based competitor's. Both caveats point the same way: treat 7.1% as a floor on this window, not as a measured annual churn rate.

Why this page publishes no migration corridor

It would be easy to write that Fathom users are switching to or from something, and the migration block on this profile is deliberately empty instead. A corridor is only meaningful between products that cannot coexist, two WordPress SEO plugins for instance. Analytics tags coexist by default, and the 40.75% Google Analytics overlap demonstrates it on this very base. Where the domains that dropped Fathom went is mostly invisible to us as well: a site that removes an analytics tag and installs nothing emits no signal, and a self-hosted replacement emits nothing we can attribute to a vendor.

The company list is smaller than it looks

The fifty companies listed on this page are the largest matched records, not a sample, and two structural caveats apply. Seventeen of the fifty are detected on a subdomain rather than a main hostname: developer.ibm.com, investors.danaher.com, brand.hashicorp.com, blog.railway.com, video.liverpoolfc.com, recruitment.cardiffmet.ac.uk, myplace.cuyahogacounty.gov and ten others. Those are departmental deployments — a developer portal, a brand site, a records portal — not enterprise analytics rollouts. And ten of the fifty rows belong to three corporate groups: Danaher plus four of its operating companies (Beckman Coulter twice, Pall and SCIEX), Menasha plus its ORBIS subsidiary, and Microchip plus Microsemi. One procurement decision can produce five rows in a list like this, which is why a logo wall is a poor proxy for enterprise penetration.

What to take away

  • The headline moved from 16,233 to 24,423 because this page was re-identified, not because the product grew by half.
  • The detection is vendor-owned JavaScript, so every counted domain actually loaded the tracker.
  • 0.13% of the category reflects a market where 66.31% of domains carry a free Google surface; the base worth reasoning about is the 24,423 paid domains.
  • 67.09% of sized companies employ ten people or fewer, and only 54 exceed five thousand.
  • Small European markets are over-represented — Norway and Belgium each ahead of France — which matches the EU isolation pitch exactly.
  • 40.75% of live Fathom domains also run Google Analytics: this market coexists rather than switches.
  • 7.1% of the base has dropped its detection since March 2026, over a short window, so read it as a floor.

If you sell to this base

The addressable segment here is a micro-business that already pays for software it could have for free, which is a useful qualifying signal on its own. Target by stack rather than by size: the Tailwind CSS and core-js share of the base is a developer-led buyer and the WordPress and Elementor share is an agency-led one, and the two do not respond to the same message. For anyone selling analytics, the 40.75% running Google Analytics alongside Fathom are the honest opportunity, because they have already shown they will run two tools at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses Fathom?

We detect Fathom on 24,423 domains, including IBM, Danaher, Bupa. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Software Development (5.82%).

How many customers does Fathom have?

We detect 24,423 domains running Fathom across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 15,191 of them (62.2%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 1,735 domains carried a Fathom detection previously and no longer do.

What is Fathom's market share?

Fathom holds 0.13% of the Web Analytics category, ranking #26. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.

What are the best alternatives to Fathom?

The top alternatives to Fathom include Google Analytics (62.77% market share), Cloudflare Browser Insights (11.34% market share), WordPress.com Stats (3.7% market share), Site Kit (3.54% market share) — measured as a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category.

Which countries use Fathom the most?

United States leads with 5,039 matched Fathom domains, followed by United Kingdom (2,662), Germany (1,088), Netherlands (800), Canada (714). These are counts within the 15,191 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.

What size companies use Fathom?

The most common company size is 1-10 employees, representing 67.09% of the Fathom domains we could match to a company record and size — a subset of 15,191 matched companies, not of all 24,423 detected domains. This is followed by 11-50 employees (21.83%) and 51-200 employees (7.25%).

How old are companies that use Fathom?

Among the Fathom domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, the largest group was founded in the 2010s (38.9%), followed by the 2020s (21.75%). That matched subset is drawn from 15,191 companies and is not representative of all 24,423 detected domains. This suggests Fathom is most popular among relatively young companies.

What is the ideal customer profile for Fathom?

The ideal Fathom customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees, Location: United States, United Kingdom or Germany, Industry: Software, IT services, agencies or design, Founded: 2010-2019, Company Age: 7-16 years old — based on our analysis of 15,191 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.

Why does this page now show 24,423 domains instead of 16,233?

Because the page was re-identified in September 2026. Fathom Analytics previously sat on an older technology identifier in our data, which reported 16,233 domains. It now sits on the live identifier for Fathom, which reports 24,423. The two counts come from different detection systems with different rulesets and different crawl coverage, so they are not directly comparable and the difference between them is not growth. Use the 24,423 figure and its date, not the gap.

What counts as a Fathom Analytics detection?

A domain counts when our crawl sees the JavaScript global fathom.blockTrackingForMe in the page, or a script loading from cdn.usefathom.com. Both clauses are vendor-owned and both describe the tracker actually running, rather than a DNS record, an outbound link or a logo. That makes the 24,423 figure a count of domains where the Fathom script loaded during our crawl.

Do websites using Fathom Analytics also run Google Analytics?

Often, yes. 40.75% of live Fathom domains also carry Google Analytics, and 43% run Google Tag Manager. Two in five sites running the product Fathom positions itself against are running both, which is coexistence rather than replacement: teams commonly keep Google Analytics for historical continuity, or trial the two in parallel before committing to one.

Does Fathom Analytics use cookies or need a consent banner?

No cookies. Fathom identifies visitors with a hash rather than storing anything on the visitor's device, and states on usefathom.com that it is GDPR, CCPA, ePrivacy and PECR compliant, so sites do not need a cookie consent banner for Fathom analytics. That design has a side effect visible in our data: unlike consent-gated tags, a cookie-less tag generally loads for every visitor, so its detections are less intermittent.

Does Fathom Analytics have a free plan?

No. Fathom is paid only, listed from $15 a month on the entry plan at usefathom.com/pricing, with a free trial but no free tier. That matters when reading this page: each of the 24,423 detected domains represents a paying account or a trial, not a free signup, which is a different quality of number from the free tools that dominate the category.

How many companies have stopped using Fathom Analytics?

1,735 domains carried a Fathom detection and no longer do, against 24,423 that still carry one, a 7.1% churn ratio. Two caveats. Coverage of Fathom in this detection cluster began in March 2026, so the ratio is measured over about six months and is not comparable with figures measured over years. And we cannot see where those domains went: a site that removes an analytics tag and installs nothing, or self-hosts a replacement, emits no signal we can attribute.

Is Fathom Analytics used by large companies?

Rarely, and usually not company-wide. Only 54 matched companies employ more than five thousand people, 0.38% of the sized base, while 67.09% employ ten or fewer. The large names on this page are also mostly partial deployments: seventeen of the fifty listed companies are detected on a subdomain such as developer.ibm.com, brand.hashicorp.com or video.liverpoolfc.com rather than on a main corporate hostname.

Why is Fathom Analytics so strong in small European markets?

Because privacy regulation is the buying trigger. Norway accounts for 458 matched companies and Belgium 413, both ahead of France (383) and Australia (346), and the Netherlands (800) outranks Canada (714). The eleven European countries below the United Kingdom in our top fifteen hold 4,324 matched companies, 28.5% of the matched base. Fathom's EU isolation feature processes EU visitor data on servers in Germany, which speaks directly to buyers in those markets.

Can you use Fathom Analytics with WordPress?

Yes, either through a single script tag in the site header or through Fathom's WordPress plugin. It is a common pairing in our data: 39.36% of live Fathom domains also run WordPress, and 8.41% run Elementor. The other half of the base looks quite different, with Tailwind CSS on 29.6% and core-js on 33.47%, so Fathom is installed about as often on hand-built front ends as on CMS sites.

Is Fathom Analytics growing?

This page cannot answer that, and it is worth saying so. Our monthly readings rise from 19,534 active domains in June 2026 to 24,423 in September 2026, but our crawled corpus roughly doubled over the same window, from about 201 million to about 379 million active domains, so almost every technology we track gained detections. A footprint that grew by a quarter while the corpus nearly doubled did not gain ground in relative terms. A usable growth figure needs a longer series on stable coverage, which this identifier will have from March 2027.

What data does Fathom Analytics collect?

Per Fathom's own data journey page at usefathom.com/data, it records pageviews, unique visitors via a rotating hash, referrers, UTM campaign parameters, browser and device type, country-level location and custom events. IP addresses are used to generate the hash and then discarded rather than stored. There is no cross-site profile and no personal data stored alongside browsing activity, which is the trade the product makes for its simpler reporting.

Is Fathom Analytics open source?

Not the product detected here. The original Fathom was an open-source, self-hosted tracker, and per usefathom.com the commercial product is a separate closed-source hosted service that shares the name and the privacy position but not the code. Our detection matches the hosted product's own script on cdn.usefathom.com, so self-hosted installs of the open-source version are not counted in the 24,423 figure.
