Companies Using UserWay

Our database tracks 156,255 companies using UserWay, from single-location medical clinics to Saudi Aramco and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Brands that use UserWay include AccorHotels, AMD and Canadian Tire. Below is the full list of companies using UserWay, with industry, size, country and migration breakdowns drawn from 109,788 enriched company profiles.

UserWay holds a 36.29% share of the Accessibility Tools market and ranks #1 of the 32 vendors we track. Level Access bought it in a $98.7M all-cash deal announced in December 2023, so the two products that appear separately in our data belong to one company. Most websites using UserWay are small: 57.7% of the top companies using UserWay employ ten people or fewer.

The number worth your attention is not the share. Since March 2026 we have watched 16,077 domains drop UserWay, and only 185 of them picked up a rival accessibility tool. Detection data refreshed from our monthly crawl of 29.9M active domains.

UserWay Usage Statistics

UserWay first appears in our long-run detection history in October 2016 on a single domain, and our live crawl now finds it on 156,255 active domains. Read the chart with one caveat: the series splices two measurement systems, our long-run detection history through July 2025 and our own crawler from June 2026, so the step across that gap is wider coverage rather than adoption. Inside the crawler window the shape is flatter than the total suggests, with 143,809 domains in June 2026, a peak of 157,865 in July, and 156,255 in August.

List of Companies Using UserWay

Our verified list of companies using UserWay on TechnologyChecker.io covers brands that use UserWay across oil and gas, hospitality, banking and healthcare, from Saudi Aramco and AccorHotels to Memorial Sloan Kettering. Many of the websites using UserWay in this table show the detection on a careers, investor or newsroom subdomain rather than the main marketing site, which is what a departmental purchase looks like in detection data.

Which Countries Use UserWay the Most?

Which countries use UserWay the most? The United States accounts for 81.77% of enriched companies with a country on file, with the United Kingdom (3.5%) and Canada (2.47%) a distant second and third. Australia (1.77%), Israel (1.33%) and Greece (0.89%) follow, and no other country clears 1%. That concentration tracks legal exposure rather than web population, since 3,117 federal website accessibility lawsuits were filed in the United States in 2025, based on our enriched company data.

UserWay Customers by Company Size & Age

Is UserWay only for small businesses? Close to it. 57.7% of UserWay customers employ ten people or fewer and another 26.73% sit in the 11 to 50 band, so 84.4% of the base is under fifty staff, based on our analysis of enriched companies with a headcount on file. Only 1.39% run between 501 and 1,000 people. The enterprise detections are real, Saudi Aramco and AMD among them, but they are a rounding error against a base of small clinics and agencies.

What Industries Use UserWay the Most?

Medical Practices is the largest vertical at 25.28% of the top ten industries we show, ahead of Real Estate (13.98%) and Hospitals and Health Care (11.08%). Put the two clinical labels together and healthcare providers take more than a third of that top-ten slice. These are service businesses with local customers and public booking pages, the profile most often named in the accessibility suits filed each year, based on our enriched company data at TechnologyChecker.io.

Real Estate5,465 (13.98%)
Hospitals and Health Care4,333 (11.08%)
Individual and Family Services3,328 (8.51%)
Construction2,886 (7.38%)
Retail2,824 (7.22%)

Medical practices using UserWay form the largest vertical in our data at 25.28% of the top ten industries, mostly single-location clinics and dental offices. Real estate companies using UserWay follow at 13.98%, brokerages such as Compass and JLL among them. Hospital networks using UserWay like DaVita and Baylor Scott & White Health run the same widget on investor and newsroom subdomains rather than site-wide, which is the signature of a single department buying it.

UserWay Alternatives & Competitors

UserWay leads the category, but the gap is closing and the reason is not a feature. accessiBe (23.84%) grew 1.72x between our June and August 2026 crawls against a 1.18x corpus baseline, while UserWay grew 1.09x, so accessiBe is the only vendor here gaining real share. AudioEye (15.14%) and Pojo.me (12.53%) fill out the top four, and all four sell the same thing: a JavaScript overlay, based on our market share data across 29.9M active domains.

UserWay Customer Migration

16,077 domains have dropped UserWay since 16 March 2026, and just 185 of them, 1.2%, picked up another accessibility tool. The visible corridors are small on both sides: 105 domains arrived from accessiBe and 97 from AudioEye, against 92 lost back to accessiBe and 53 to AudioEye. Read the churn honestly and this is not a vendor bake-off. It is sites removing the widget and putting nothing in its place.

Expert Analysis: UserWay Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Mehmet Suleyman
Mehmet SuleymanCEO & Co-founder, TechnologyChecker

I have spent more than ten years building crawlers and technographic systems, and accessibility overlays are the strangest category we track. Our August 2026 crawl finds UserWay on 156,255 active domains and matches 109,788 of them to enriched company records, a 70.3% match rate. Everything below comes from that dataset, churn observed since 16 March 2026, and G2. Our method is written up in how technology detection works.

Growth trajectory

UserWay enters our long-run detection history in October 2016 on a single domain; that system runs through July 2025, and our own crawler picks up in June 2026 at 143,809 domains. The step across that gap is coverage widening, not UserWay doubling. UserWay then peaked at 157,865 domains in July 2026 and fell back to 156,255 in August. Over those same two months our whole crawl grew 1.18x, from 321.0M to 380.0M active detections, so UserWay's 1.09x is 0.92x in relative terms. It is the only top-three vendor whose absolute count has started to fall, and accessiBe, at 1.72x, is the only one clearly taking share.

"UserWay is still number one by a wide margin, and it is also the only top-three vendor in this category losing domains in absolute terms. Both are true in the same month of data." - Mehmet Suleyman, Founder at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales Signal: The category is not shrinking, but the leader's grip on it is loosening. The timing argument is real for the first time in years. Watch the July to August turn, not the headline count, which still reads market leader.

Customer profile

This is a small-business product wearing an enterprise logo wall. 57.7% of enriched UserWay companies employ ten people or fewer and 26.73% fall between 11 and 50, so 84.4% sit under fifty staff. They are not startups either: 37.77% were founded in the 2010s and 25.71% in the 2000s, against 14.26% in the 2020s. The enterprise detections are genuine but narrow. Saudi Aramco, Thermo Fisher Scientific, AMD, AccorHotels and Koç Group all show UserWay, and once you look at where, the pattern repeats: careers.accor.com, investors.davita.com, news.bswhealth.com. A department bought a widget for one property.

Sales Signal: Two buyers hide behind one detection. The solo clinic bought a widget to close a compliance worry; the Fortune 500 marketing team bought one for a careers microsite. Filter on headcount first, because the enterprise names here will never buy what the clinic buys.

Industry and geographic concentration

Medical Practices is the largest vertical at 25.28% of the top ten industries we show, with Real Estate at 13.98% and Hospitals and Health Care at 11.08%. Take the two clinical labels together and healthcare passes a third of that slice. Geography is more lopsided still: the United States is 81.77% of enriched companies with a country on file, the United Kingdom 3.5%, Canada 2.47%. This is a legal product, not a design product. 3,117 federal website accessibility lawsuits were filed in the United States in 2025, and the verticals at the top of our list are the ones that receive the demand letters.

Sales Signal: Outside the United States this category barely exists, and the European Accessibility Act has put the same question on European agendas. Filter our data to non-US UserWay domains for the shortest useful prospect list on this page, and lead with remediation rather than a widget.

Migration patterns

Here is the number that should reframe this page. 16,077 domains have dropped UserWay since 16 March 2026, 9.4% of the 171,285 domains we have ever seen it on. Of those, 185, or 1.2%, went to another accessibility tool. Vendor-to-vendor traffic is trivial by comparison: 105 domains in from accessiBe and 97 from AudioEye, against 92 out to accessiBe and 53 out to AudioEye. Those corridors run both ways at similar volume. The other 15,892 sites took the widget off and put nothing in its place.

"Nearly 99% of the sites that left UserWay did not pick a competitor. They picked nothing. I have not seen another category where abandonment beats switching by that margin." - Mehmet Suleyman, Founder at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales Signal: Do not build a displacement pitch on feature comparison; the churned domains were not comparing features. The play is audit and remediation services sold to the 16,077 domains that gave up on widgets entirely.

Technology ecosystem

UserWay customers run the most ordinary stack we see anywhere. 76.31% also run Google Analytics, 47.81% run WordPress, and Duda takes 8.31%, more than Squarespace (2.48%) and Wix (2.3%) put together. Duda's weight is the tell: whatever channel installs UserWay on these sites is usually building them too, and it is not the site owner. Ecommerce is nearly absent, WooCommerce at 3.83% and Shopify at 2.98%, and consent tooling is thin for a base that supposedly buys on compliance: CookieYes 5.86%, OneTrust 3.62%.

Sales Signal: The gap is remediation, not tooling. Close to half of these domains are WordPress, so the underlying failures are theme and plugin failures no script can reach. That is a qualified list of 74,414 domains whose owners have already paid to prove they care.

Where the reviews and our crawl disagree

The G2 summary above argues with our churn data. Cost is the loudest complaint: 9 mentions on pricing plus 8 on the price point, 17 of a 44-mention con block against 109 mentions of praise. G2 lists Widget Pro at $490 a year for a small site, $1,490 for a medium one. If price were the objection, the 16,077 domains that dropped UserWay would have moved somewhere cheaper. 185 did. The rest replaced it with nothing, a verdict on the category, not the invoice. The same summary puts ease of use top of the pros at 27 mentions, complex usability top of the cons at 14. Both hold. Reviews get written near the purchase, by people still paying. Our crawl watches that domain a year later. Neither dataset sees the other's half.

Sales Signal: Don't argue price. The 17 pricing mentions came from customers who stayed; the 16,077 who left already valued it at zero. Sell audits to the second group.

Key takeaways

1. Market position: 36.29% of Accessibility Tools and rank #1 of 32; add Level Access, which owns UserWay, and one company reaches 158,081 domains, or 36.71%.
2. Growth phase: maturing and slipping, 1.09x from June to August 2026 against a 1.18x corpus baseline, with the count down from a July peak of 157,865.
3. Core customer: a United States service business under fifty people, founded between 2000 and 2019, in healthcare or real estate.
4. Competitive pressure: accessiBe at 1.72x is the only vendor taking real share, and it carries a $1M FTC settlement.
5. Key vulnerability: 16,077 domains dropped the widget and 98.8% replaced it with nothing.
6. Structural risk: 81.77% United States concentration in a product bought for one country's litigation climate.

Sales applications

Outreach angle: "You are running UserWay on WordPress. Our crawl has watched 16,077 domains remove that widget since March, and 98.8% installed no replacement. What did your last audit find in the theme underneath it?"

Targeting strategy: on TechnologyChecker.io, filter UserWay detections to 11 to 50 employees, United States, in Medical Practices or Real Estate, then cross-filter for WordPress. That segment has budget, legal exposure and a fixable codebase.

Competitive angle: the 92 domains that left UserWay for accessiBe and the 53 that left for AudioEye changed vendor within the last few months. They will switch, and they have not yet found what they wanted.

Every crawl figure above is our own: 156,255 detected UserWay domains, 109,788 enriched company profiles, and 16,077 departures observed across 29.9M active domains. Explore the full company list, filters and migration data at TechnologyChecker.io.

How much does UserWay cost?

UserWay publishes plan pricing on userway.org and we do not track prices, so check the vendor for current rates rather than a third-party listing. What our crawl does show is who buys it: 57.7% of detected UserWay companies employ ten people or fewer, the segment self-serve widget pricing is built for, and only 1.39% run 501 to 1,000 staff.

Does UserWay make a website ADA compliant?

No overlay makes a site compliant on its own. Courts have rejected overlay widgets as an ADA defence, and 3,117 federal website accessibility lawsuits were filed in the United States during 2025. A widget can adjust contrast, spacing and keyboard focus at runtime. It cannot fix missing alt text, broken heading order, or a form a screen reader cannot complete.

Will UserWay stop an accessibility lawsuit?

It has not stopped them so far. 3,117 federal website accessibility lawsuits were filed in the United States in 2025, and courts have declined to treat overlay widgets as a defence. Treat the widget as one visible layer over an accessibility programme, not as the programme itself. The remediation work still has to happen in the underlying markup.

Is an accessibility overlay enough for WCAG 2.1 AA?

Not on its own. Conformance is measured against the delivered page, so an overlay that repairs a few things in the browser still leaves the underlying markup failing. Overlays help with user preferences: contrast, font size, reading guides, cursor size. Structural failures such as alt text, form labels, landmark structure and focus order have to be fixed in the source.

Does UserWay work with WordPress?

Yes, and WordPress is where most of its installations live. Our crawl finds WordPress on 47.81% of UserWay domains, 74,414 sites, far ahead of Duda at 8.31%. The widget loads as a single script, so it drops into any theme. That also means it inherits whatever accessibility problems the theme and its plugins already ship with.

Does UserWay work with Shopify, Wix and Squarespace?

It runs on all of them, though few stores bother. Our data shows Shopify on 2.98% of UserWay domains, WooCommerce on 3.83%, Squarespace on 2.48% and Wix on 2.3%. Ecommerce is a thin slice of this base next to the clinics, brokerages and local service businesses that make up most of it, according to TechnologyChecker.io detection data.

What is the difference between UserWay and accessiBe?

Both are JavaScript overlays sold on much the same promise, and they trade customers in both directions: 105 domains moved to UserWay from accessiBe since March 2026, and 92 went the other way. The real differences are commercial. UserWay is bigger, 36.29% against 23.84%, and accessiBe paid $1M to settle FTC allegations that it misrepresented its AI overlay.

How does UserWay compare to AudioEye?

UserWay holds 36.29% of the category to AudioEye's 15.14%, roughly two and a half times larger by detected domains. Switching between them runs both ways at low volume: our crawl recorded 97 domains arriving from AudioEye and 53 leaving for it since March 2026. AudioEye has also sued accessiBe for patent infringement, so the category litigates internally too.

Who owns UserWay?

Level Access. It announced the acquisition in December 2023, an all-cash deal worth $98.7M, and closed it in early 2024. The two products still appear separately in our detection data, UserWay on 156,255 domains and Level Access on 1,826, so the group's real footprint is 158,081 domains, or 36.71% of the accessibility tools category.

What happens if I remove UserWay from my site?

The visible widget disappears and the site returns to whatever accessibility it had underneath. That is what most departing customers accept: of the 16,077 domains that dropped UserWay since March 2026, only 185 installed a rival tool. If the source markup was never remediated, removal simply exposes the failures the widget was sitting on top of.

Does UserWay help with the European Accessibility Act?

Our data suggests few European buyers are treating it as the answer. The United States accounts for 81.77% of enriched UserWay companies, the United Kingdom for 3.5%, and no other country clears 2%. Our crawl cannot tell you what a regulator will accept, only that this overlay market has barely moved into Europe while European rules tightened.

How can I tell if a website uses UserWay?

Look for the accessibility button parked in a page corner, or search the domain on TechnologyChecker.io. Our crawler identifies the widget from the script the page loads, the same method it applies across 29.9M active domains, which is how we count 156,255 live UserWay installations and the 16,077 domains that have dropped it since March 2026.

Does UserWay slow down a website?

It adds a third-party script, so it costs something. How much depends on the page it lands on, and we measure detections rather than performance, so we cannot put a number on it. What our crawl does show is that these are already script-heavy sites: 76.31% run Google Analytics, and the widget sits on top of whatever else the theme loads.

Why do so many websites drop UserWay?

We can see that they do, not why. Since March 2026 our crawl has recorded 16,077 domains removing UserWay, 9.4% of every domain we have ever seen it on, and just 1.2% of those adopted a competing tool. Abandonment at that ratio usually means the purchase stopped answering the question that prompted it in the first place.

Do accessibility overlays actually help disabled users?

Our crawl measures installations, not user outcomes, so detection data cannot settle that. The public record is less neutral: courts have declined to accept overlays as an ADA defence, and accessiBe paid $1M to settle FTC allegations about how it described its own AI overlay. Read those alongside the 16,077 domains our data shows walking away.
