Companies Using htmx

As of our September 2026 crawl we detect htmx on 37,541 domains, and 22,238 of them resolve to an identifiable company. That is a respectable number for a library first released in 2020. It's also, taken at face value, misleading, because about half of it was installed by someone other than the site's owner.

Half of htmx's footprint was installed by a platform

Of the 37,613 domains where htmx is live in our crawl today, almost half fall into three groups:

7,706 parked domains on one template. These are German and Swiss domain names showing keyword-stuffed landing pages with Taboola ads and a "Domain kaufen" offer. We checked three of them by hand to confirm it. Their entire stack is htmx, Tailwind CSS, Font Awesome, OpenResty and Taboola, each present on between 7,669 and 7,707 of them. Thousands of independent site owners do not converge on the same five technologies.

5,556 Finalsite sites. Finalsite builds websites for K-12 schools and districts, and its sites load htmx. The hosts give it away: hs., ms., athletics. and individual school prefixes under a district domain.

5,170 CivicPlus sites. Municipal and county government websites on the CivicPlus platform, which loads htmx in the same way.

None of these detections is wrong. htmx does run on those pages. What's wrong is the unit: one vendor's engineering decision gets counted once for every customer the vendor has. That leaves 19,179 independent domains, 51.0% of the live base, and that is the figure I'd use for htmx's own reach.

The platforms are the adoption story

Stripping the fleets out makes the numbers honest, but it shouldn't make them disappear from the analysis. A platform choosing htmx is a stronger signal than a hobbyist choosing it, because a platform has to support the decision across thousands of customer sites for years. There's a third route of the same kind: Sprig, a Craft CMS plugin built on htmx, shows on 1,439 domains, more than the 1,292 where we detect Craft itself. A Craft agency that wants reactive components without writing JavaScript gets htmx whether or not it has heard of it.

For anyone evaluating htmx, that's the practical answer to the production question. It already runs on thousands of school-district and local-government sites, and on Craft CMS sites through Sprig.

Who the 19,179 independent adopters are

With the fleets removed, the industry curve goes flat. Software Development leads at 4.62%, IT Services and IT Consulting follows at 3.84%, then Hospitality (3.54%) and Technology, Information and Internet (3.46%). That's the pattern of a tool chosen by the builder: agencies and product teams put it into whatever they ship next, so it lands everywhere and concentrates nowhere.

Geography shifts even more. On the full base the United States has 11,360 matched companies; among independents it has 2,751. Germany drops from 2,967 to 908 once the parked template goes. The six European countries in the independent top ten, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Belgium, reach 3,416 together, more than the United States.

The named list is unusual too. 23 of the top 50 independent organisations carry htmx on their main or www host rather than on a side application: Amadeus, Renesas, Jefferies, Geberit and the Library of Congress among them. The rest are the expected single applications, such as job.deloitte.com, help.splunk.com and marketplace.uipath.com. htmx enhances HTML that a CMS or server framework already renders, so it can go onto a corporate site without a rebuild, and I think that explains the difference.

The server side is visible where frameworks announce themselves. Django appears on 1,784 htmx domains, Ruby on Rails on 1,323 and Laravel on 317. Laravel's number is small most likely because Livewire fills the same role there. All three are floors, because production servers routinely strip the headers we match frameworks on.

What the chart and the churn figure don't say

The usage line runs from 24,477 domains in June to 37,541 in September 2026. Most of that is our side: the domains we crawl turn over every month, and our htmx detection widened across the same period. Our records first pick up htmx in October 2020, on two domains, which fits its release that year, but nothing in the current series supports a growth rate.

4,899 domains have dropped htmx since we began tracking it in March 2026. We tested every plausible destination (Alpine.js, Livewire, Hotwire Turbo, Stimulus, Unpoly, React and Vue) and none qualifies as a switching corridor. The closest, 597 domains that now run htmx after dropping React, is only 1.58 times the chance rate, because React disappears from a large share of the sites we track it on. Alpine.js isn't a rival at all: 9,985 domains run both. The exits we can see look like sites going dark or being parked, not teams replacing htmx with something else.

Using this list

If you're building a prospect list from htmx, filter the three groups out first. Exclude domains that also run Finalsite, CivicPlus, or the Taboola-plus-Tailwind parked template, and treat each Finalsite district as a single account belonging to Finalsite. Then segment what's left by back end: Django and Rails shops are the teams that chose htmx deliberately, and Craft sites with Sprig are agencies that inherited it.

The strongest independent profile is a small software company or agency in Germany, the United Kingdom or the Netherlands, running a server-rendered stack with Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js alongside htmx.
