Companies Using Trusted Shops

I went through Trusted Shops in our September 2026 crawl. The detection reads two scripts, both served by Trusted Shops itself: the trustbadge from widgets.trustedshops.com, whose address carries the shop's own Trusted Shops ID, and the newer eTrusted review widgets from integrations.etrusted.com. There's no link or DNS clause, so a shop that only mentions the seal isn't counted. On that basis 20,547 domains run Trusted Shops and 11,006 match a company record. In a random sample of 50 detected domains, all 42 that loaded confirmed it: 38 in the raw page and 4 Shopify stores that load the Trusted Shops app in a browser. The other eight were dead or behind bot walls. Trusted Shops says more than 32,000 online shops rely on it. We count domains with the code live, which is a different unit, and our note on technology detection methods covers why the two rarely match.

Second in Germany, twelfth in the world

The global table puts Trusted Shops 12th of 139 review tools on 1.19%, under Shopify apps sold worldwide. That's a poor frame for a product sold into one region: 61.2% of the companies we could place are in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, and 40.32% of live domains end in .de. So I re-ranked the category on German companies only. Trustindex has 10,272, Trusted Shops 6,032, ProvenExpert 4,612, Trustpilot 4,298 and Judge.me 3,374. Across DACH the top two hold, 12,603 to 6,641, with Trustpilot third on 5,293. Trustindex embeds a business's Google reviews, mostly on WordPress sites. It doesn't audit anyone. Among tools that check a shop and collect its own reviews, Trusted Shops has the biggest German footprint in our data.

Sales signal: treat this as a German-language list. Checkout plugins, legal-text services and shop agencies selling into it need German material; the 368 US companies are a footnote.

What the chart measures

The chart reads 13,581 in June, 17,745 in July, 19,824 in August and 20,547 in September. That rise is mostly ours. The domains we crawl turn over every month and our detection widens, and 16.13% of today's live domains were first seen in August or September. 3,320 domains have dropped a Trusted Shops detection since March 2026. I don't read that as churn: a seal can disappear in a redesign or a shop move, and part of the base is aliases. In a 200-domain sample, 31 redirected to another domain that also runs Trusted Shops, tarwegraskoning.be to its .nl twin, empula.de to empula-shop.de.

Sales signal: size a campaign on companies, not domains. Roughly 15% of domains are a second address of the same shop, so deduplicate before you count.

Who the customers are

59.06% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 28.2% have 11 to 50: small web shops. Age is where Trusted Shops parts company with the Shopify review apps. 10.29% of companies with a founding year started before 1960, against 1.37% for Loox and 2.22% for Judge.me in our published profiles. These are established retailers and manufacturers with a web shop: toom Baumarkt, Hellweg, igus, Teekanne, Gabor. At the top, 79 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff, ResMed and ÖBB among them.

Sales signal: an old Mittelstand retailer buys differently from a Shopify founder. Expect the managing director and an outside agency to be in the decision.

Retail first, then the neighbours

Retail is 22.83% of matched companies with an industry, and with apparel and mail-order retail it's 29.06%. Wholesale adds 4.46%. Outside the German-speaking countries the list comes mostly from the Netherlands (1,018 companies), Spain (751) and Poland (722), each of which has its own Trusted Shops country site.

Sales signal: Dutch, Spanish and Polish shops are the second market here, 2,491 matched companies together. They are easy to miss if you filter on Germany alone.

Review tools pile up on one shop

I tested the review tools that share domains with Trusted Shops for a switching pattern, and none passed. Judge.me runs on 1,296 live Trusted Shops domains and Trustpilot on 849. Of the sites we've ever seen with both Trusted Shops and Judge.me, 73.8% still run both. Trustpilot looks more like a real choice: since March 2026, 374 domains dropped Trustpilot and kept Trusted Shops, while 167 dropped Trusted Shops and still run Trustpilot. More than half the sites that ever ran both still do, though, so we don't publish it as a switch.

Sales signal: the 849 domains running both Trusted Shops and Trustpilot pay twice for shop reviews. That's the consolidation pitch for either vendor.

The storefront stack

Shopify runs on 25.68% of live Trusted Shops domains, Shopware on 13.37%, WooCommerce on 10.44% and Magento on 9.77%. I expected Shopware to lead a German seal's stack; Shopify does, and Trusted Shops sells a Shopify app. PayPal is on 47.31%, Apple Pay on 21.92%, and consent tools are common (Cookiebot and Cookie Control 10.76% each, Usercentrics 8.78%). Klaviyo, on 17.81%, is the usual email tool.

Sales signal: a Shopware agency or plugin vendor can filter this list to the 2,771 Shopware domains and reach merchants who already pay for trust services.
