Companies Using Poptin
Our database tracks 25,501 companies using Poptin, most of them one-person shops and small teams. Brands that use Poptin include Tata Communications, the University of Southampton, Tropical Smoothie Café and LaLiga, though each of those runs it on a single campaign site rather than across the business. Below is the full list of companies using Poptin with industry, size and country breakdowns drawn from 16,188 enriched company profiles.
Poptin holds a 9.39% share of the Popups & Lead Capture market and ranks #4 behind POWR, Privy and Mailmunch. What separates it from the three above it is distribution. Poptin ships as an official app in the Wix, Shopify, WordPress and Shoptet marketplaces, and its footprint follows those channels closely: websites using Poptin sit on WordPress (37.68%) and Wix (23.07%) more than anywhere else.

Poptin Usage Statistics
Poptin first shows up in our detection history in March 2017 on a single domain, and reached 14,034 active domains by December 2024. Two parts of this chart need a caveat. The dip through mid-2025 tracks a shrinking source feed rather than lost customers, and the step between July 2025 and June 2026 is where our own crawler took over measurement, so it reflects wider coverage instead of a year of growth. The 25,501 domains recorded for July 2026 is the first point measured end to end by our crawl.

Poptin Customers by Company Size & Age
Is Poptin only for small businesses? Very nearly. 65.57% of Poptin customers have 1-10 employees and 88.72% have fewer than 50, based on our analysis of 16,188 enriched companies. Just 17 domains in that sample belong to organizations above 10,000 staff. Bigger names do appear, but when they do the tag normally sits on one campaign subdomain rather than the main corporate site.

Based on 16,188 enriched companies, Poptin sites pair it with Google Analytics (71.57%) and one of two site builders: WordPress at 37.68% or Wix at 23.07%. Read the Wix eCommerce line (23.05%) as a Wix marker rather than evidence of 5,879 storefronts, because that signal rides along with the platform itself. Expert Analysis: Poptin Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I have spent over a decade building web crawlers, and Poptin is a good reminder that a detection count is only as meaningful as the thing being detected. This analysis covers 25,501 active domains from our July 2026 crawl, of which 16,188 matched a LinkedIn company record, a 63.5% enrichment rate.
What a Poptin detection actually means
We identify Poptin two ways at once: a script from cdn.popt.in and a JavaScript global called poptinAfterPageLoad. Either alone confirms it. Active domains average 2.55 detections across 2.57 scans, a 99.2% per-scan hit rate, which is what an unconditionally loaded script looks like. A consent-gated ad pixel usually returns fewer than half as many detections as scans. More on that in our guide to technology detection methods.
Two limits follow. The free plan covers 1,000 visitors a month with no card required and runs the same script as paid accounts, so this is a ceiling on paying customers. It is also a floor on installs: WordPress.org reports about 20,000 active installs against the 9,610 WordPress domains we detect, so we see roughly half of the one segment with an independent count.
Growth trajectory
Poptin enters our history in March 2017 on one domain and reaches 14,034 by December 2024, roughly 19 times the 743 it held at the end of 2019. Two features of the chart are measurement rather than market. The slide from April 2025's peak of 15,246 to 13,650 in July coincides with our archive feed's corpus shrinking, and POWR and Privy show the same shape in the same months. The step from July 2025 to June 2026 is where our crawler took over entirely.
"The most interesting number here is the one that looks worst. A 10% decline turned up on three unrelated products in the same three months, which told us the instrument had moved, not the market." - Mehmet Suleyman, Founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales Signal: Treat this as an expanding market with a soft ceiling. No vendor holds above 20% share, so buyers are still choosing rather than defaulting, and a tool that arrives through an app store can leave the same way.
Customer profile
This is one of the most concentrated size distributions we hold. 65.57% of enriched Poptin companies have 1-10 employees and 88.72% have fewer than 50. Only 17 domains belong to organizations above 10,000 staff. Age reinforces it: 65.44% were founded in 2010 or later and 22.31% are registered as self-employed or self-owned. Poptin's six case studies feature small firms like Scrumbles and XPLG, none among our largest detections.
The large accounts deserve a note. Tata Communications, the University of Southampton and TVH Group all show up, but on socialpost.tatacommunications.com, online.southampton.ac.uk and jobs.tvh.com. Across the whole base only 1.23% of detections sit on a subdomain, yet that rate climbs steadily with headcount, from 0.62% at 1-10 employees to 19% above 5,000. Enterprise adoption here is departmental, and the DNS hierarchy is where you see it.
Sales Signal: A Poptin detection on a large company is a signal about one team, not one procurement decision. Check the subdomain before you size the account.
Industry and geographic concentration
Poptin has the flattest industry distribution I have looked at recently. Our enriched companies span 393 distinct industries and the largest, Retail, holds just 5.52%. Wellness and Fitness (3.39%) and Business Consulting (3.36%) follow. Group the consumer-facing services together, adding coaching, medical practices, restaurants and hospitality, and you reach 13.82%, the closest thing here to a core segment.
Geography is where the distribution channel becomes visible. The United States holds only 34.71%, low for a marketing tool, while India takes 7.04% and the Latin American cluster adds 7.39%. Israel at 2.76% is the founders' home market. Czechia at 1.29% looked odd until the stack data explained it: Shoptet, the dominant Czech ecommerce platform, sits on 2.30% of Poptin domains, and Poptin ships an official Shoptet add-on.
Sales Signal: The under-served opportunity is localisation rather than verticalisation. No industry here is worth a dedicated pitch, but several large non-English markets already have an app-store listing doing the selling.
Migration patterns
Before reading migration numbers, check whether these tools are substitutes or complements. They are substitutes: 91.63% of Poptin domains run no other tool from the category, and the highest overlap with any rival is POWR at 2.54%. That makes the switching data meaningful rather than stack churn.
The balance favours Poptin, 124 domains gained against 68 lost. Mailmunch is the dominant corridor at 51 in and 8 out, a 6.4:1 ratio. Privy is roughly even at 13 and 11. The one clear loss is POWR, the category leader, at 11 in against 21 out. Separately, 2,272 domains have dropped Poptin since March 2026, though 61.3% were seen only once, which sits at the top of the normal range.
"Popup tools are the rare category where switching data means what it appears to mean. When nine in ten sites run exactly one of them, a tool disappearing is a decision, not a coincidence." - Mehmet Suleyman, Founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales Signal: The 51 domains that left Mailmunch are the warmest list on this page, because they have already shown they will change vendor. The 21 that went to POWR are the retention problem worth studying.
Technology ecosystem
The typical Poptin site is simple. Google Analytics covers 71.57%, and the site runs on one of two builders: WordPress at 37.68% or Wix at 23.07%, together about three in five sites. Read the Wix eCommerce figure of 23.05% carefully: it tracks Wix almost exactly because it rides along with the platform, rather than indicating 5,879 real storefronts.
Email is thinner than you would expect under a lead capture tool, with MailChimp at 7.60% and Klaviyo at 4.65%, so most users collect addresses with no automation platform behind them. WhatsApp-oriented chat widgets reach 10.58% combined, matching the India, Brazil and Gulf weighting. Two of those, Chaty and Chatway, come from Poptin's own founders.
Sales Signal: The clearest upsell gap is email automation: 84% of these sites capture leads with no detected email platform receiving them.
Third-party review signals
Poptin rates well, and revealingly, in a particular place. G2 shows 4.8 stars from 87 reviews, Trustpilot 4.9 from 505, the Wix App Market 4.8 from over 550, and WordPress.org 98 out of 100 from 693. The imbalance is the finding: G2 is where enterprise buyers shortlist software, and it holds the fewest Poptin reviews by a wide margin. Owners rate this product in the marketplace where they installed it, which matches the 65.57% micro-business base and the four app stores it ships through. We left the structured review section off this page because G2 blocks automated collection, and estimating those figures would be worse than omitting them.
Sales Signal: If you sell to this base, the app marketplace is the channel. Poptin's own footprint is the argument for listing there.
Key takeaways
1. Poptin ranks #4 of 40 at 9.39% in a category where nobody exceeds 20%.
2. The base is micro-business and digitally native: 65.57% at 1-10 employees, 65.44% founded since 2010.
3. Distribution is both the moat and the ceiling. Four app marketplaces explain the platform, country and review mix.
4. Enterprise usage is departmental, visible in a subdomain rate climbing from 0.62% to 19% with company size.
5. Net migration is positive, 124 in against 68 out, with Mailmunch the main source and POWR the main leak.
6. The count is a ceiling on paying customers and a floor on installs.
Sales applications
Outreach angle: for the 84% of Poptin sites with no detected email platform, lead with the gap. They are collecting addresses and have nowhere automated to send them, which is a concrete problem rather than a pitch.
Targeting strategy: on TechnologyChecker.io, filter Poptin domains to 1-10 employees in the US, UK or India, then narrow to retail, wellness or consulting. That combination matches the ICP in the sidebar.
Competitive angle: the domains that left Mailmunch and OptinMonster in the last 90 days have already shown they will switch, a better qualifier than firmographics alone.

Does Poptin offer a free plan?
Yes. Poptin's free tier covers 1,000 visitors per month on a single domain, with unlimited popups, forms and leads, and no credit card required. Paid plans start when you pass that visitor ceiling. Poptin builds popups, embedded forms and notification bars that collect email addresses, phone numbers and enquiries from website visitors. Common triggers include exit intent, time on page and scroll depth. Our detection data shows it concentrated on small retail, wellness and consulting sites, where it usually feeds a mailing list rather than a full marketing automation stack.

Yes, through a Shopify App Store listing rated 4.9, with 95% of its reviews at five stars. Shopify sits under 17.57% of Poptin domains in our data, about 4,481 stores. Poptin also ships add-ons for WooCommerce, BigCommerce and the Czech platform Shoptet, which is the likeliest reason Czechia ranks fourteenth by country in our enriched sample.
Is Poptin GDPR compliant?
Poptin states that it is GDPR compliant and provides consent checkbox fields, data deletion controls and EU data handling terms. Compliance in practice also depends on how each site configures consent before the popup fires. European markets make up a large share of its base, with the UK, France, Netherlands, Spain and Germany all in our top eleven countries.
Can I customize Poptin popups?
Yes. Poptin includes a drag and drop editor with templates, custom fonts and colours, plus display rules for timing, exit intent, scroll depth, device type and returning visitors. Paid plans remove Poptin branding. Free accounts keep a small Poptin credit on the popup, which is one visible way to tell a free install from a paid one.
Is Poptin better than OptinMonster?
They serve different buyers. OptinMonster has no free tier and sells mainly to marketers on WordPress, while Poptin leads with a free plan and app-store distribution. Our data has Poptin ahead on reach at 25,501 domains against 20,966, and migration between them is light: five domains moved each way over the period we observed.
Do large companies use Poptin?
A few do, but rarely across the whole business. Only 17 domains in our enriched sample belong to companies above 10,000 employees. Where large organizations do appear, such as Tata Communications or the University of Southampton, the script sits on a campaign subdomain. Among the biggest accounts, 19% of detections are on subdomains versus 0.62% for micro-businesses.
What is an exit intent popup?
An exit intent popup appears when a visitor's cursor moves toward closing the tab or hitting the back button, which the script reads as an intent to leave. It is one of Poptin's headline triggers, alongside time delay and scroll depth. The aim is a last offer before the visitor goes, typically a discount code or newsletter signup.
Who owns Poptin?
Poptin Ltd. is an Israeli company based in Tel Aviv, co-founded by Tomer Aharon and Gal Dubinski, who remain co-CEOs. It has taken no outside funding and runs as a bootstrapped, fully remote team of roughly 60 people. The same founders also built Chaty and Chatway, both of which we detect alongside Poptin on 545 domains combined.
How effective is Poptin at capturing leads?
Poptin publishes six case studies with reported lift figures, all from small companies such as Scrumbles and XPLG. We cannot verify conversion claims because our crawl sees installation, not results. What our data does show is retention behaviour: 124 domains arrived from rival tools against 68 that left, so more sites consolidate onto Poptin than away from it.
Why do 2,272 sites show as having previously used Poptin?
That count covers domains we watched drop the script since we began tracking Poptin in March 2026, so it is not lifetime churn. It is also noisy: 61.3% were detected only once before disappearing, which usually reflects an incomplete scan rather than a removal. Against 25,501 active domains it works out at roughly 8%.
Does Poptin slow down your website?
Poptin loads asynchronously from its own CDN at cdn.popt.in, so it should not block page rendering, and that script is one of the two signals we detect it by. Real-world impact still depends on how many widgets a site stacks. Among Poptin domains we also see Google Analytics on 71.57% and a chat widget on roughly one in ten.
